Been here for a la carte sushi and also the omakase which I always have enjoyed. It's SO good. I love the miso grilled fish and the omakase is a great selection. I do think that it's a bit more pricier than Shiros and very similar to the point where I'd probably prefer to go to shiros for omakase but I'd go to kashiba just for the nigiri and other plates.

We ordered omakase and they served us a very detailed course. The service was good and they gave us a description of each course they brought out. The omakase was unique and was so good! The view from inside the restaurant was amazing and you can see the Ferris wheel. The inside of the restaurant was clean and had comfortable seating.

Did the omakase experience here and I loved it! It ended up being 14 pieces of nigiri plus some extras. We didn't sit at the bar but it was still great nonetheless. The service was great and the staff was very knowledgeable. Upscale vibes inside. This is everything we had: Salmon albacore blue fin tuna from Spain sashimi - albacore was my favorite of the bunch Seaweed konbu - I loved the konbu Strawberries - a nice contrast Toro handroll - very fresh and tasty Albacore - same albacore from earlier Blue fin tuna - same tuna from earlier, not my fave tuna Toro - delicious Sea bream - super flavorful Flounder - also very strong Tamago dobu in a dashi broth- broth was so good Salmon - yum! Sockeye salmon - probably most disappointing of the menu Sweet Shrimp - this was my favorite! Blue fin tuna - ok tuna Seared tuna- probably best seared I had, not typically a fan of seared Kanpachi - yummy Almost snapper - didn't catch exactly what this was but chewy Umi - very solid piece Scallop - ok for scallop Sushi donut eel - unique and delicious Tamago - one of the best I've had Miso soup - a great end to the meal

Wonderful service and some of the freshest sushi! Sushi Kashiba did not disappoint. The staff were incredibly attentive and kind. We enjoyed the variety of this omakase and it was the perfect dinner for a special occasion. :)

This year was another epic visit. Have never had the privilege of Jirosan preparing our sushi, but have seen him for others at the sushi bar. How awesome is it to see the actual celeb chef involved in the day to day and overseeing his disciples?! Never a disappointment.

It's an experience and it is expensive, but honestly amazing. I don't even like sushi (probably because I never get good sushi) but my husband does. We both did the tasting menu and honestly it was incredible I ate every bite except for one. There is a 20% service fee that they didn't tell you about which I do find to be frustrating sometimes. But if I'm ever back in Seattle I would definitely come back.

The fish was SO fresh! My girlfriend and I enjoyed the omakase and would absolutely recommend to anyone who visits!! Besides our server being a bit awkward, great atmosphere and overall amazing experience :)

Portion, Selection and the Itamae's descriptions were all disappointing. When we go to a sushi restaurant, we are looking for Umami, freshness, subtlety and textural contrast, but we only found bits and pieces of each. We both felt that about 25% of our meal was of value. The rest felt meretricious. We expected this place to be genuine, but felt it was just a fancy tourist trap. Our servers were doing their best, but it felt as if they were following strict rules pushed down by their Sushi Master (no pun intended)

Overall impression -- Aspirational fine dining that misses the mark in multiple ways. Not recommended for an intimate date, where you want the intimacy to be with your own date and not with the other patrons there. Ambiance -- We reserved a table same day for a date night, and ended up going on that date with two other couples sitting on adjacent tables. The tables were placed so close together that we could clearly hear every conversation the other couples were having. When the waitstaff came to the adjacent table, his derriere was up over our table inches from us. Too close for comfort. Maybe there are better tables elsewhere than the one we were seated at. This was the biggest negative for me, and set the mood all wrong from the start. Food -- kinda less than what you'd expect for the price, nothing terrible, but also nothing memorable. Coming from the Bay Area, I'm spoiled for great Japanese, great sushi, and great omakase and I found this to be underwhelming. Surprised that their menu had no sashimi platter. When I asked about ordering either Omakase or Peak but without having to consume rice/carbs with every piece, it seemed like they were not ready to accommodate that easily. We ended up ordering the black cod and a modified "omakase" because that is the only way they were willing to bring out a sashimi selection -- and it was really just a simple platter, nothing else, not even the miso and tamago advertised as part of their Omakase. So that turned into a very high priced sashimi platter. Service -- There was not much involved there, since we got a sashimi platter delivered as a substitute for the Omakase, not needing to bring out several courses and explaining each course. I was trying out some of the sashimi using my plate that the black cod came on when the waitstaff tried to clear it away for me, that was weird and awkward.
Be the first to ReplySecond time here tonight.
Not as great an experience as the first time, perhaps because I decided to do a la carte instead of the Omakase or the Peak. Nigiri were excellent. Had the tempura which was great! No grated radish though, and when I asked for some, it was a teeny tiny bit!. How can you call it authentic if not with daikon??? Maki was so-so. Fillings were great, but the sushi rice felt like regular rice and was falling apart despite being gluey.

Be the first to ReplyKashiba is hands-down my favorite sushi restaurant in the
Kashiba is hands-down my favorite sushi restaurant in the US. The vibe of the restaurant is pretty intimate, and the omakase experience is everything. We had a reservation for dinner on a Thursday night, the place was pretty busy as usual. We were welcomed and seated pretty quickly. The hostess even provided a little bag hook for my purse There were 7 total "courses" in the omakase. Servers would provide descriptions for each dish along with recommendations on what to eat first/how to enjoy it best etc. The omakase included a set of amuse-bouche, a handroll, a wide variety of nigiri, agedashi tofu, and soup a tamagoyaki at the end. All the fish is super fresh and tender. I love the fact that each piece comes already dressed with wasabi and soy sauce, so there's no need to dip anything before eating. I also always enjoy the other little finishes that the chef includes, like marinating, topping with fresh wasabi, adding shiso, drizzling with citrus, etc. all the extra flavors really elevated each piece while still letting the quality of each fish shine. With the amazing food, there was amazing service to match. All the servers and hostesses were super gracious and helpful. Overall, amazing place!! Of course it is on the pricier side, but would definitely recommend. Spoil yourself, you deserve it LOL

AMAZING! From food, to service, to ambiance - everything was spectacular. My friends and I had an amazing time at Sushi Kashiba on a Saturday night. The staff were incredibly attentive as one friend was left handed, so the chef placed her pieces in the opposite order of ours. The food exceeded expectations as our chef thoroughly explained and talked through his selections and process. We had such a great time dining together and getting to know our chef, as well as having the opportunity to meet Chef Shiro himself!

Best. Dining. Experience. Ever! I came here for my 3rd anniversary with my girlfriend with a 7 pm reservation at the sushi bar. Since we've never had omasake before, we had somewhat high expectations coming into the restaurant, and boy, did it deliver. The staff was incredibly professional and courteous; they handled everything with a smile and great attention to detail! We were asked to order our drinks first before they walked us over to the sushi bar area. They sat us at the very end of the sushi bar, where not only we were able to see the sushi chefs preparing our food right in front of us but also the entire view of the restaurant! Our sushi chef was Kohta, a very kind gentleman who had been working at Sushi Kashiba for 20 years. In addition to preparing amazing food for us, he did not shy away from having a good conversation with us. We got along with Kohta really well! The entire 21-piece omakase experience lasted for 1 hour and 45 minutes ($175 per person). It's very hard to choose which ones were my favorite because every piece served to us was incredibly tasty, Kohta even explained the kind of fish and where the fish was imported from. What stood out to me was the uni, because unlike other times I've had uni, the uni here was so juicy that it cleaned out my entire palette! The best part of our dining experience was when Kohta gave us barrel-aged sake on the house to congratulate us on our anniversary! That was an incredible gesture from him and I will never forget his kindness. The omakase experience at Sushi Kashiba is easily the best dining experience I've ever had and I cannot wait to come back soon!

Sushi Kashiba is outstandingly fresh! I went here for my boyfriend and I's 3 year anniversary and we got omakase at the bar. We arrived several minutes earlier for our reservation at 7pm so we were waiting at the door to be seated. Our waiter asked if we wanted anything to drink before we were seated and my boyfriend got hot sake while I got a Ume-ricano. After a while we were seated and our omakase chef was Kohta. He was extremely polite and a cool chef and I'm glad we got to talk to him while he served us! We got the 21 course omakase and at the end of it I was pretty full. My favorite sushi that Chef Kohta made for us was the fatty tuna, it just melted in my mouth and I've honestly haven't had tuna that good. Other favorites were the geoduck, which was very crunchy and the uni/scallop. The uni was so fresh and juicy, like it came straight from the ocean. Sushi Kashiba was my first omakase experience and it was well worth it for the end total. (r.i.p our bank account) Definitely would come again! Kashiba really knows how to create an environment where you are comfortable and cozy while enjoying some of the expensive eats of the world!

The fish and the service were great! We liked the food, how knowledgeable our server was, the ambience. This is a very pricey place. For the worth of the food we don't think we will return though.

4.5*. Nicely situated with the courtyard at the Inn. Surprising airy and upscale space. Minus half star because not forthcoming w sushi menu and while all the fish is super fresh, not all fish will appeal to all palates. Wife and I had the Omakase which is a LOT of food. The champagne and pinot noir paired very well with the meal--thanks to our waiter for the assist. Our waiter was very descriptive , helpful and critical to eating things in the correct order. The first course consisted of sashimi x3, mushroom cap w salmon/egg pate (much better than it sounds and very creative), and scallop w green onions. Next was an amazingly flavored simple toro hand roll. Followed by many different types of sushi--all fresh but not necessarily all in my flavor house (not a geoduck, sea bream or japanese scallop fan). The steamed egg w king crab in dashi was fantastic and nice change of texture and temperature. The miso and sweet tamago served w sake was a nice finish to the dinner. The Peak menu is a slightly less expensive tasting menu without the exotic cuts of fish. Those dishes looked really tasty also (our surrounding tables enjoyed that option). Definitely worth the money and probably the hype but would not repeat the Omakase strictly because not all fish worked with my taste buds.
Be the first to ReplyI was pretty disappointed with Sushi Kashiba's food given
I was pretty disappointed with Sushi Kashiba's food given the almost $400 price tag for two people (without drinks). I'm sure the fish was very high quality but a lot of it tasted bland. Some of the choices, like the clam nigiri, were questionable and challenging to finish. I probably enjoyed two thirds of the nigiri we were served, but nothing blew me away compared to what I've had at much less expensive restaurants. And compared to my favorite high end omakase places, Sushi Kashiba fell short. I'm leaving two stars because the service was very attentive and the ambience was nice.

Excellent experience for a special event for a couple or small group. Highly recommend Omakase and allow Chef to take you on a journey. Their blue fin toro was one of the best cuts of sashimi I've ever experienced. Service is top notch from Host to servers to bussers. A+ dining experience. I would appreciate a stronger american whiskey selection from behind the bar, but otherwise highly recommended.

My daughters and I had their omakase menu and we felt like we were transported to Japan! The sashimi was the best we've ever had and the presentation was incredible! We were fortunate to have Jordan as our server, and he was exceptionally knowledgeable about all the dishes he brought for us to enjoy. This place is outstanding, from the ambiance, decor, service (thank you Jordan) and last but not least the delicious food! Highly recommend this restaurant. You won't be disappointed.

As the the father of sushi in Seattle, Shiro's restaurant Sushi Kashiba share's the genuine experience with Seattleites and its visitors. Enjoying the finest sushi is not only about fresh fish... it is about all of the little details which ensure the perfect sushi dining experience. It begins with service. Not only was our waiter highly detailed knowledge about the fish Kashiba serves, there was an army of other staff present at a moment's notice to assist you with more water, hot tea, spilled soy sauce (my elderly mom had an accident... more on her shoulders need later ), and removing dishes when you're really done. A sushi chef came out to our table to present what each nigiri was and our waitress would always swing by our table soon after to check if we had any additional questions or needs. And we had plenty more need for additional nigiri. Like the amazing fresh medai they featured that evening. It was so juicy and sweet. Of course, they had my main sushi staples, Chu-toro (buttery smooth), O-toro, sawara, kanpachi, and one of my new favorites, Kama-toro. I will have to forgive their not having one of my other favorites, Kamasu, since it is seasonal. Not only was the nigiri prepared with the perfect amount of rice (very small balls), each piece was seasoned perfectly so no soy sauce required... unless you are like my mom and add shoyu to everything. And I almost forgot to recommend the non-sushi dish we had, glazed black cod, marinated in miso & saké. My mouth is still watering. Seattleites and it's visitors have the perfect opportunity to experience, not just eat sushi as Sushi Kashiba.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary here and we had the pleasure of trying their omakase at the counter since we were able to upgrade from the regular omakase that we originally made a reservation for. Our chef was super friendly and patiently explained every piece presented to us which made it a fun experience. All the sushi was delicious and fresh, and we did an Uni add on as well which was great! The entire meal was yummy and I left feeling very full, but note that this is pretty expensive so it was definitely a splurge that we will reserve for special occasions.
