Still My Favorite Hotel
I recently stayed at The Emily Hotel in Chicago as a solo vacation before returning to work. This was my first stay at the hotel under its new name and management and I was initially unsure of what to expect. Luckily, I was not disappointed! During my stay, I appreciated that my room and bed were clean and comfortable and that there was a Bluetooth radio in the room that I could use to listen to local radio stations on at night. I also thought that the staff that I interacted with during my visit were very friendly and patient, particularly Ed, who helped me find my way around the city when I was lost. There was a lot to see and do within walking distance of the hotel and the nearby Morgan CTA station made it easy to get around without a car. Prospective guests may need to be mindful, though, of the following: 1. The hotel's debit card policies. If using a debit card, a hold of as much as $450 can be placed on your card, so make sure that there is enough on your card to cover this kind of charge if you prefer to use this method of payment. 2. The bathroom layout. As other reviewers have noted, the bathroom shower has a glass panel instead of a full shower door that closes. This may not be an issue for solo travelers or couples but it might be a concern in situations where more privacy is needed. Despite these drawbacks, I enjoyed my recent stay at The Emily Hotel and look forward to staying there again in the future.

Stayed two nights while attending our son's wedding. The best part of our stay was their staff, who were all very nice and helpful. Other than that, we were greatly disappointed in the hotel. The beds are too low (just mattresses on a metal frame, close to the floor.) There was no comfortable chair in our room (a "deluxe double") just a cheap molded plastic chair. No dresser, no closet. no drawers for clothes. Cheap carpeting that was frayed. Shower has a single fixed glass panel that extends only halfway, so the shower is always open. No grab bar or shelf in the shower. Interior build out is just varnished plywood. No clock in room. There is a mini-fridge and there were lots of purchase options for snacks and drinks including full 375 ml bottles of vodka and bourbon. When we checked out on Sunday morning, we went to the Cafe off the lobby that is supposed to have pastries and breakfast sandwiches -- but they were out of everything.

I planned a group retreat in chicago for 7 dear friends and chose The Emily for its location, amenities and reasonable pricing. Everyone loved it, it’s vibe, walkability to great restaurants, cleanliness. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly too. Shout out to Leo in particular. Highly recommend.

I was on business and looking for a fantastic place to stay in the Fulton Market. I was recommended The Emily Hotel and had the BEST service ever! I travel a lot and experience horrid behavior all the time but, I was given the most caring and exceptional service by Mia! She was phenomenal when helping me check in and very informative about the area in total. I will be returning, when I am back in the area.

We loved staying at the Emily Hotel for our wedding. All of our guests in our blocking were truly amazed with how fantastic the hotel was. Big shout out to Maria and NaeBon for helping us with the blocking. And a huge shout out to Leo at the front desk, he was our go to for everything!!! You all made our special weekend that much better with your great service and hospitality. Thank you, Mr. & Mr. Marhaus
Be the first to ReplyGood experience.
Leo at the front desk and Leah at the coffee shop were super nice. I would definitely recommend staying there. The room was ok, and the bed and room style is fated but that should deter you from enjoying the wonderful customer service.

Great hotel in the middle of Fulton Market, good size rooms and front office staff were excellent, shout out to LEO CIBANGU.
Be the first to ReplyDo yourself a favor, stay at The Emily!
My room at the Emily was beautiful - quiet, spacious, well-designed, clean with a super-comfortable bed. The lobby, restaurant, coffee shop, bar...all are excellent, exactly as you'd hope from a 4-star hotel and then that magical little bit extra. But the very best part of my experience was the staff. Every person I interacted with was golden: charming, warm, very efficient, clearly going the extra mile to make my stay at the Emily special: from the desk staff to the Fora barman and waiter and the morning crew in the coffee shop. A special shout-out to Leo on the front desk who sped into action when I was checking out and learned that my client changed the 9am venue at the last minute. Leo rustled up a cab in seconds then got me, my coffee, and my luggage into it a few seconds later. He not only never broke a sweat but made it feel fun. And I was on my way in 3.5 minutes. My advice: if you want more than a hotel, stay at the Emily.

While the room seems dark, it had an exceptionally comfortable bed and lovely soaps and lotions. The staff was helpful and friendly. The location was great. A quick walk to the train or to Fulton Market area made it super simple to get around.
Be the first to ReplyBloody sheets
Hotel was a cute and quaint hotel and nice overall. We drove until early morning to arrive to the hotel. Exhausted is an understatement upon arrival so we were ready to fall into bed. Normally I am neurotic and check for bed bugs and check to sheet for cleanliness but for some reason (maybe because the hotel was on the upscale side) we went straight to bed. Upon awakening after pulling the sheets back we discovered we had slept on someone else’s blood all night. I called the front desk to request for the linens to be changed. They were prompt to do so. Typically on a case like this I would assume an investigation would take place to understand why housekeeping didn’t change the sheets. In this case, a said investigation was conducted amongst 3 departments only to discover we are the ones that are being accused of the blood stained sheets. EXCUSE ME?!? I would know if I was bleeding and my husband would know if we was. We even looked each other over to ensure the blood didn’t come from us because we were disgusted when we discovered the blood. I don’t have periods and my husband didn’t have anywhere on his body he was bleeding from. The hotel manager said there was blood on some towels that “looked like we had attempted to clean the blood up” I informed him that was makeup on the hand towel I had wiped off. He is still accusing us of the blood!! What a disgrace of management and how dare you accuse us of something we didn’t do!! Just make it right!

Staff incredible, location and ambiance superb. Few glitches that brought down to 4, leaking sink pipe (fixed immediately) TV not working (F&B credit for inconvenience) . Yummie brunch at hotel, drinks and basketball in the bar. Beds could be a tad longer… but overall a great experience.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful staff and location.
The staff at this hotel is wonderful. Special thanks to Leo at the front desk who went above and beyond. We have stayed at this hotel many times and will continue to do so. The location in the heart of West Loop is exceptional, surrounded by charming restaurants and boutiques.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Stuff Awesome Job
Everything was clean. I felt safe. Everyone working was helpful and SUPER nice about it. Thankyou for helping me with my uber eats ordeal at 2am on Thursday. The rooms are just as pictured on Travelocity. The bar, restaurant, and coffee shop were fancier that expected, and they had a great liquor section. And on certain nights of the week there's this awesome food truck like a block down the street and you can get 1 am tacos. Hi Leo 👋
Be the first to ReplyCustomer Service at its Best!
The hotel is great. It has a lively vibe with nice common spaces, including outdoor fire pits! I had made an error in my reservation and Tamer Abulaila, the front desk manager, was wonderful. He was able to resolve the issue without any fuss. The customer service was exceptional. I will stay here again the next time I am in town!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat place to stay, super friendly!
Beautiful place, has everything you need, great location with so much food options nearby. The front desk stuff is very welcoming and friendly, the room was very clean. So much has changed since the last time I stayed, I am very satisfied this time and so glad I stayed there.
Be the first to ReplySimple, chic, boutique. Everything you need, nothing you don't.
I was spending 24 hours in the city and just wanted a decent, up-to-date, nice place to stay in a buzzy location, and the Emily is all of that. Really friendly welcome from staff (who gave me some good recommendations for dinner and drinks). Spotless crisp design (it was formerly the Ace Hotel, so of course). Comfy bed, super quiet, nice toiletries. Perfect for a city break or a business trip.

I loved the Emily! It's in a great section of town. The rooms are good and the sheets wonderful. They have everything you want for business or leisure travel. Good restaurants AND they give a discount to guests -- something every hotel should do. I was booked here by a client, but now look forward to staying here again.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent location, services and lobby. Extremely spare corridors and rooms.
First the good: The location is amazing, with easy access, excellent restaurants and bars nearby, the Loop only 10 minutes away by L train. The hotel Ground Floor is first rate, with a restaurant/bar and outdoor patio with fire pits. The front desk staff was helpful and courteous. Our room was clean and very quiet. Now the bad: The plywood walls in the elevator were the first indication of the design aesthetic of the upper floors. But when the elevator doors opened, the corridors were downright frightening; somewhere between orphanage and insane asylum. (See photo.) It took a while to figure out what they were trying to achieve, but the first impression was "cheap". The stains on the light squares of the hallway carpet didn't help. The rooms were better, but not much. Ours had what appeared to be metal bed frames screwed to the wall across from the bed and more of the cheap looking clear coated plywood used for the desk and trim. The bed was spare but comfortable. The toilet/shower room was spare and dark, but not in a good way. It was mostly painted drywall and just seemed cheap. Even the lighting was as cheap as could be. In summary we decided we would stay there again for all of the "good" reasons. They were really good. If you can get past the aesthetics of the halls and the rooms, the hotel is quiet and comfortable - even hip on the Ground Floor. And the neighborhood feels like Greenwich Village with lots of low buildings allowing the sun to actually hit the street - rare in downtown Chicago.

Stayed the recent weekend for three nights for a family wedding. We found the rooms comfortable and spacious. Every employee we encountered was kind and helpful. The lobby area was perfect to visit with other guest and family or enjoy something from the coffee shop. The location was close to a bunch of restaurants and shops as well as a short walk to the train. We enjoyed brunch at FORA and cocktails at SELVA.
Be the first to ReplyWe loved it! Highly recommend!
We stayed there for the weekend, friends blocked rooms for people attending their wedding. The room was comfortable. Excellent valet service unloaded our car and brought it to our room. They did the same on the day we checked out. We are morning coffee drinkers & had brought our single-serve Keurig & K-cups. Good thing we did, a pot to heat water for tea or STEEP a bag of coffee. They have a coffee bar in the mornings, for a price. We did eat in the restaurant at the bar, a chicken burger & fries. Very good. The wedding party had a 'meet and greet' Sat. night in the SELVA room. It was classy & great fun! The wedding was Sunday in another venue. I recommend The EMILY HOTEL. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Large, clean rooms with great amenities, and super accesssible by the El. The minibar offerings were hard to say no to! And Leo at the front desk was amazingly helpful and accommodating. Will be back!

Everything was clean, well-cared for, well appointed. The staff was both friendly and helpful. Great experience, and at a very reasonable price. (Because TripAdvisor mandates at least 200 characters, I've added this sentence 😊)

The Emily is a beautiful hotel in a great location! My family and I got 3 King rooms (3 couples in total) and the rate for each room was lower than any other hotel in the City. With a coffee shop and a swanky rooftop bar and restaurant in the hotel, we had everything we needed right there! Rooms were nicely decorated with comfortable beds and newly updated bathroom amenities. Hospitality was very attentive to our needs by quickly responding to our needs for extra towels and pillows making our trip more enjoyable overall. The valet was a very convenient option while parking in the city. Highly Recommended!!

The room was kept in great order and everything was clean. I would stay here again. Leo at the front desk was incredibly helpful and personable sorting out the buisness credit card on file. The location is great as well.
