Love sugar beach and love the condo we stayed in.
The owners thought of everything and the bed was top of the line tempurpedic. I came for Christmas but ended up staying in Maui, moving to Hawaii unfortunately without my husband though we've stayed great friends. I go back to California for work/business but sugar beach is really great for anyone looking for amazing weather, terrific people and a feeling of the island that if you love? You may find leaving? Difficult. The management of the overall property I've nothing great to say anything about however, but luckily I really didn't have to see them often if at all i booked through Vrbo so...bonus! Each condo is different depending on owner, I recommend Airbnb or Vrbo and read reviews. When power went out last Christmas for over a day we were fine and had everything we could want but others were not as fortunate. That's rare btw, but it happens. Batteries, a lantern are a must in that case however. Only other place I tend to go back to mainland wise is Michigan so since that's rarely, I can't say enough about Hawai as flights truly are not expensive, and sugar beach resort is a great place to stay for families or couples. If you're looking for less tourist type lodging, this doesn't suck.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolute worst customer service ever.
My wife and I planned a vacation and a week and a half prior she was in an accident which lead to us being unable to travel, they just took our money and told us there was nothing they could do about it non refundable. I didn't even ask for a refund just to move dates. They replied very rude and wouldn't even change dates or accommodate. After this experience makes me NEVER EVER want to visit Maui absolutely atrocious.

Very nice location and not crowded. Just 10 mins from a lot of places to eat. Did not see bugs or rodents at all. The grounds were always clean too. While we were there we saw that they cleaned the pool area daily. The only bad thing is when we got to the condo on our 1st day the whole building lost power. It was not the fault of the condo but learned later it was a big power outtage that occurred due to an accident down the road. Definitely a place to return to.

Unit 321 is updated and has amazing views! This is a superior oceanfront view. The cal king in the bedroom is very comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked. The sofa in the living room opens to a queen sleeper. There's a pool, large hot tub, dry sauna and restaurant on property. There's also a snorkel rental business. This place has it all and sits on a 6-mile stretch of sand that's not crowded with tourists and central to everything! Easy Beach access with a perfect sunset view, they have a pool, and their own parking garage. They also offer rentals for all sorts of beach activities by the pool. They have an elevator so it's convenient to bring big luggages. The check in was smooth and fast. Oh and the sandwich shop downstairs is a bar!! If you don't mind paying extra $$ for the convenience and a breathtaking view this is your place!
Be the first to ReplyVery nice condos located right on the beach.
My wife and I vacationed for a week at this resort and were pleasantly surprised with the beauty of the location. The condo that we rented had a balcony facing the beach and the ocean views were spectacular. The only negative and it was a major negative, was that we had no car. This resort is a car necessity location as we had to either walk or take the city bus. When we went at the beginning of the summer and there were no cars available for rent. If you are able to rent a car then this is a great and affordable way to be right on the beach.
Be the first to ReplyWe had an enjoyable stay for one week.
The view was amazing! We were in an oceanfront condo on the 5th floor. The sound of crashing waves lulled us to sleep at night. The condo had everything we needed and the comfiest bed EVER. There were quite a few people at the resort, but lounge chairs were always available on the pool deck and surf side. This complex seems to cater to large families - probably since it is affordable for Maui and it sits on one of the sandiest beaches. The other condo complexes along Sugar Beach seemed to have less people, which I might try next time. But, you really don't have to twist my arm to stay here again. North Kihei is much better than South Kihei in my opinion.

We have had to cancel our trip to Maui in April due to Covid 19. Our first stop was the Westin and they have graciously accommodated are necessity to cancel. As have the airlines. Not Sugar Beach Resort! They are insisting on charging me a $200 penalty fee. The reservationist that I spoke to was so rude she hung up on me as I tried to explain that this is unfair. Covid 19 is having drastic effects on everyone in the US and they are making money off of it!! I'm so disgusted. I should have known better than to book with this resort. We typically go for higher end... And now I know why! Avoid the Sugar Beach resort. The management company is unprofessional and completely uncaring.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my second time staying here.
I just returned back to Oregon today from staying at Sugar Beach for a week. I absolutely love this resort. Maybe it's the room I stay in as I stay in the same room each time I go which is one of the penthouse suites on the top floor facing the ocean. This place literally has everything. It has a little sandwich shop where you can get a quick bite to eat in a pinch even though it's basically a pub sandwich but if you run out of juice for your booze in your room, they will sell it to you and to go cups for very cheap. I actually did end up ordering a sandwich one night to take to my room and it was pretty pricey but it wasn't bad. The one thing that I really wish they would change is putting a sign by the only steps leading into the pool advising people, mainly children, not to block the steps. I was out by the pool every day grabbing sun and every time I wanted to step into the pool to cool off, I had to Meander through groups of little children playing on the steps of the pool. I read on here that some people are expected to do most of the cleaning up before they leave or check out but I have not experienced that. I stay at the same unit every time and I do a courtesy and take out all my garbage and recycling and start the dishwasher with any dirty dishes but that's about it and everyone seems to be cool with that. The kitchen facilities were completely accommodating and there was even condiments like salt and pepper and ketchup. I had everything I needed for the little amount of cooking that I did. I stayed in PH20 and the owners of this property are absolutely amazing. My checking was seamless and I will definitely be returning.
