We love Stoneground! Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. The service was great, very attentive. Don't forget to order the donuts for dessert- they are a crowd favorite.
Be the first to ReplyThis Italian place is really nice; it's on the 2nd floor.
Great customer service, and the food is delicious. I just didn't like the tiramisu; it was not that great. I couldn't taste the espresso. There's parking on the back of the building; the entrance to parking is right next to the building and is only accessible through 400 South.

Quaint little basement with candlelit dinner theme. As far as service, would've appreciated a little more attention. We didn't get the drink that we ordered until halfway through our meal after asking again. On the other hand, the food came surprisingly fast considering the quality. Had the Bolognese and split a Margarita pizza with my wife who has the black seafood pasta. Everything was excellent. I would even go as far as to say the pasta was some of the best I've had.

Stoneground Pizza certainly leaves an impression, offering a mixed bag of experiences that cater to a variety of tastes, though not without its drawbacks. **The Good:** First off, it's advisable to make a reservation at Stoneground Pizza unless you don't mind the hustle and bustle of sitting at the bar. This little tip can make your dining experience more comfortable and enjoyable. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by an exceptionally friendly staff that contributes to a welcoming atmosphere, making you feel right at home. The food, while it may boast some rather eclectic flavors, is pretty good. It's clear the kitchen is aiming for innovation and uniqueness in their dishes, which can be a delightful surprise for the adventurous foodie. The ambiance rounds out the list of positives, offering a great dining environment with a rustic industrial feel that is both trendy and comforting. **The Bad:** However, it's not all smooth sailing. The restaurant's bold approach to flavor pairings isn't for everyone. Some guests might find the combinations a bit too out of the ordinary, potentially overshadowing the dining experience. A significant letdown comes in the form of the desserts - described by many in our party as 'stale and absolutely awful.' This is a disappointing end to what could have been a good culinary journey. Lastly, the prices at Stoneground Pizza lean towards the expensive side, which wouldn't be an issue if the value was clear in every dish. Unfortunately, some patrons may leave feeling that the cost doesn't quite match up to the overall dining experience. In conclusion, Stoneground Pizza offers an interesting dining experience with its friendly service and unique atmosphere. However, it's worth noting the menu's adventurous approach may not cater to all palates, especially when considering the price point. It's a place that might appeal more to those seeking culinary adventure rather than traditional comfort.

I love good Italian cuisine that we get there.
Be the first to ReplyStoneground is a beautiful space with beautiful food.
It's pretty idyllic for celebrations - birthdays, engagements, etc. The vibe is upscale without feeling stuffy. Our most recent visit was for New Year's Eve. Everything from making a reservation to finding parking was easy and accessible. The vast majority of the food was amazing! The octopus carpaccio is easily one of the best dishes I've had in SLC - the textures and flavors are immaculate! Also, their lobster pappardelle is to die for - richly decadent and perfectly balanced. Their cioppino left a lot to be desired though - the various seafood components were not cooked correctly, so while the mussels and clams were great, both the fish and the crab were disappointingly overcooked. All in all, a great bet for a night out or your special occasion!

We came in for dinner last night and what a treat! Makenna was such a wonderful server and gave us some great recommendations! The space is upstairs (there is an elevator in the entrance on the opposite side of 400 south so it's ada friendly). There were some lovely outdoor spaces that we'd love to check out when it's not snowing! Music was also at the perfect volume so we weren't screaming over each other. Food was excellent! Polenta tots, burrata, and the fresh bread kicked things off. Love that so much of the food (bread, pastas, cheeses) is made fresh in house! We shared 2 pasta dishes, the pork chop, and the scallops. The pork chop and scallops were a tad overcooked which was a bummer considering the prices. Next time we will have to try a pizza or something less expensive but not as easy to overcook. Finished with the gelato trio and doughnuts.

First time visiting SLC (anniversary) and this place is fabulous! First and foremost our server Hanah rocked it. She made the first time experience a wonderful one with her suggestions and knowledge of the various dishes served here. I had the beet salad and it was perfectly put together with a hint of goat cheese in every bite, a must get. We had the Lasagna paired with a Chianti wine and it was to die for. The plates are not small so beware, come with a large appetite. Desert!! Yes, the do-nuts with cinnamon sugar and ice cream, freshley cooked, finished off with an expresso! The atmosphere was great and the people from SLC are extremely kind!

Last night before going to the theater, we went to Stoneground for dinner. the ambience is always good. I do enjoy Stoneground's food and I do love lasagna. But I was slightly disappointed because the lasagna just wasn't hot enough. Even though the server said, don't touch the plate it's extremely hot, it was not. The sauce should have been bubbling. It was not in fact the plate was only warm.

We've chosen this place as a dinner for us co workers as an offsite event. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful, just very dim lighting but romantic vibes. We started off with the charcuterie boards, mussels in the cream sauce which was absolutely delicious! We also got a couple pizzas as an appetizer which I enjoyed, crust was so soft! Our waiter was there throughout all our dramatic orders. The black ink pasta, as well as the steak was my entree and I enjoyed it so much!

The mussels! A must try! A generous portion in a delicious sauce with lots of yummy bread to enjoy the remaining sauce. Got the black pasta with lobster. The noodles were cooked perfectly and there were lots. I didn't get as much lobster as previous reviewers but it was enough. I personally felt the Chardonnay sauce was bland, if it was more flavorful then I would've considered this a perfect dish. My bf got the beet salad and it was beautifully presented. Had the chicken dish as well which he enjoyed. Highly recommend reservations. It's a small space but they make great use of the it. Very inviting and warm atmosphere with a mix of tables and booths. The large windows give you a nice view of the city as this restaurant is on the second floor.

Food was delicious! Our waiter, Sam, was so attentive and super helpful. Also had palenta tots and bread with the three dipping sauces-- everything was incredible! Such a cute ambience too, definitely great for a dressy night out.

It is WILD to me that Stoneground doesn't have a higher rating than it does. This place is arguably one of the best Italian places in SLC. The corn ravioli dish that we had might have been one of the best dishes I've had in a long time. The pizza was amazing as well. We also had the bread and dipping sauce appetizer that is served table side and that was amazing as well! We had a table outside and could enjoy the views of the city. Our server was very patient and friendly and I couldn't recommend this place enough.

5! Honestly I love that they have gf options and that they have a wonderful wine selection! Tristan (the bartender/waiter) deserves 5 stars for sure! But honestly the food was decent but not amazing. I've had better and I've had worse. I think it's a little pricey for what it is but overall everyone was friendly, my wine was wonderful, and I'm leaving with a full belly!

This restaurant is cute and very romantic! The burrata was to die for! They make all their pasta in house and they have gluten free options as well! I had their squid pasta which I dream about from time to time. The wait staff is very knowledgeable on their wine list and will help you make a good choice. The only thing I would steer away from is their desserts, they left a lot to be desired. The tiramisu was one of the worst ones I've ever tried. Who puts berries on top of a tiramisu? So just eat here, but get dessert somewhere else.

Not gonna lie, I was super stoked to try this place, given the glowing reviews. But I was a bit underwhelmed. The ambiance was on point, we came for Valentine's Day and the place felt cozy and romantic. We ordered the polenta tots and the burrata to start (as they both came highly reviewed) neither were good enough to order again in my opinion. We ordered the scallops, the lobster tagliatelle and the gnocchi for our main. The lobster was by far the star of the show. They give you a hefty portion of lobster, which is always appreciated, and the pasta was divine. The scallops were decent, but again, nothing to write home about. The gnocchi was pretty good. All in all, the mains were pretty heavy, I'd opt for a lighter salad if I go back. I wanted to love this place but for the price point and the lack of wow factor with most of the food, I just can't. Definitely check this place out for the tagliatelle and the ambiance alone, those two won't disappoint you.

5. Pretty darn good for Utah. Probably the best Italian I have had in the state yet. I enjoy the bar/lounge area more than the main restaurant for the ambiance. Service is prompt. The appetizers are good (salads, burrata). Really enjoyed the asparagus. My favorite entre is the gnocchi, which appears to be house made and fluffy. Drinks are very tasty. Dessert was fairly tasty as well. Been here twice and wouldn't mind going back. I have had a really hard time finding good Italian food around SLC, so I have been pleased with this place. For out of towners, the food might be decent, but for Utah it's great. Way better than places like Sicilia Mia in my opinion.

We sat at the bar since we didn't have reservations and I am glad we did. The bartender on Friday night was great. I would give 5 stars if this was just a bar. The drinks and service at the bar was amazing! He even whipped one up just by asking me a few questions. Also the bar was very clean and organized. The burrata salad was good but I was disappointed because it didn't have heirloom tomatoes (as the menu stated) just regular schmegular yellow and red cherry tomatoes. My boyfriend ordered the Pappardelle alla Zozzona (wide fettuccine with spicy sausage in tomato sauce). It was so unbearably salty. Some parts of the pasta was overcooked and some were raw. The bartender/server was so nice about it and asked the kitchen to remake it. The second time was still very salty but the pasta was at least still in tact and longer than 1 inch strands. We felt bad so we took a few bites and even togo'd the rest without any intention of eating it.

I love stone ground! It is one of my favorite restaurants in Utah. The pork chops is the best dish esp wit the potatoes and the pizza esp the black and blue is a must. The black and blue has a certain sauce on it with steak that just is heaven in your mouth. The lasagna isn't my favorite. I've had the lasagna and it was too salty. The bolognese wasn't my favorite either. The service is good, quick and lively. The ambiance is intimate and love the location.

I loved the atmosphere here! After you walk upstairs, there's a host and a little outside patio/balcony. Once you're walking to your seat, there's an open kitchen where you can see everyone making food. They also have all the pasta laid out (sew my pasta lady pic!). There's a large covered fire pit/fireplace in the middle of the restaurant and you're able to sit near the windows and look down at the street too! The wine selection here is awesome, and they have special wines depending on the week. The w waiter gave us suggestions on what would pair well with our food. The menu looked delicious. The pizza was light, but filling. The pasta options were a little heavy and majority of the group took their items home, besides the cheese and pear ravioli. Highly recommend the focaccia and Burrata to start, which were light, easy to share and a great starter.Defiantly get a reservation!

The phony "chef" recommended a black pasta that was pathetic--a pasty whitesauce with frozen seafood that tasted more like a Mormon version of clam chowder than anything you would ever find in Italy. The service was pretentious and slow. This place couldn't compete with the most humble corner red sauce joint in a real city.
