Steiner Ranch Steakhouse Austin Reviews from The Last Year
Delicious dinner out on the patio.
Our server Robert was amazing! He took such good care of us and we were a large group. Excellent experience!
Went for my birthday and it was a wonderful experience.
The Chicken Fried Elk was awesome and the entree portions really were great. We sat next to the window and it was absolutely beautiful
Unimpressive dinner, bad service, crazy high prices
I heard that this place was good and my wife wanted to try it. This place was a hot mess. They welcomed us for our first time visiting and wished us a happy anniversary, but from then on, it was pretty much all downhill. Our waiter was competent at serving us, but we were not getting his full attention all night. I ordered the steak and crab cake, which was served WITHOUT the crab cake, for some reason, so I spoke up and had to wait about 15-20 minutes to even taste it. It was mediocre, so I became annoyed but didn't want to complain. Our steaks were both $50 and not very juicy or tasty at all. My wife told me hers was dry so we asked for some **A1 steak sauce**, as if we were at Luby's. He completely forgot this request, and well as refilling our drinks, for about 15-20 minutes while he chatted with his only other table about real estate. So, we sat there on our anniversary night, with no drinks, dry steaks with no A1 steak sauce, and a waiter who was not concentrating on his only 2 tables. Literally, we were pushing our food around, feigning smiles, listening to him talk, while waiting for some service. I cannot recommend this place, as it has been tainted now for me, but the piano player was pretty good. Maybe it would be okay some night for a drink on the patio, but otherwise a poor dining experience with fancy illuminated menus and COVID-era servers.
No better place in the Austin area!
Excellent as Normal. EXCEPT this time it was Even Better due to the wonderful service by TIM. He went above and beyond for our party of 6. A great asset to the Steiner Ranch family. Looking forward to our next visit. We will definitely check on his days off before planning our next dinner party.
Our waiter was oddly loud.
Not enough to slow the stars, though. Seriously, great place. Drink all the way through steaks and desserts were excellent. They just do not mess up.
A very great experience! Can't wait to dine again! The food
A very great experience! Can't wait to dine again! The food was amazing, everything was cooked to perfection! The service was top notch and our waiter was absolutely wonderful!!
Beautiful View and Restaurant. Disappointing Meal.
A beautiful location overlooking Lake Travis. Wonderful cowboy decor. They have an outdoor deck where a small band was playing. We ate indoors. Both wife and I were disappointed in our meals. She had flounder with a sauce, I had the beef short ribs. Flounder was oversauced. She ended up scraping it to the side. The Short rib needed a sauce, it was dry, stringy and lacking much flavor. I suppose we should have ordered steaks. The couple with us enjoyed theirs. The molten cake dessert was heavenly. Oh, the meal was spendy, but about what you'd expect from a really nice steakhouse with cocktails.
Texas Roadhouse ambience with Bob’s Steakhouse prices
Visiting Austin and were looking for a local steakhouse, saw mixed reviews, but thought we would give it a try. For the prices we were expecting a more upscaled dining experience, this is not what we experienced. The dining areas were loud, so much so that it was difficult to talk to people at my table. Customers in jeans and ratty T-shirts. The service was slow, we were there for an hour and a half and they only refilled my water once despite it being empty for over 45 minutes. The French onion soup tasted like they got it out of a Campbell soup, can, but didn’t follow the directions for dilution, super salty, and concentrated tasting. The only reason I gave a two stars and not one was my son said his ribeye was very good. Will not return.
Service 4 Ambiance 5 Food 2.
5 Views were great! I think this restaurant survives based on the views and ambiance. Sat on the patio with some great live music. The building was very nice and clean. The food was very bland. Everything tasted like nothing. They play it very safe so everyone can like the food and no one can say it tastes "bad".
First time visitor and will not return.
I booked a reservation for our anniversary and requested a table with a view. When we checked in we were taken to the very crowded third floor which is packed with small 32" round tables and had a view of an empty patio. Already felt like we were in a crowded cruise ship as every table was full and I had to lean towards the wall if anyone walked by. Took a while to see our server to explain the specials and menu but we were in no hurry so no problem. After ordering drinks we received some rolls after a pretty solid wait and the wine we ordered did not come for another 20 minutes after that. I was joking with my wife the wine cellar must be buried deep under the building and he had to go retrieve it himself. Food arrived and we were already pretty frustrated with the wait time, lack of water refills and our waiter being missing in action. Wanted to ask for another roll or two with our meal but steaks were delivered by a runner who seemed frustrated and lost. He took up all of my silverware except for one fork and told us to cut our steaks in half to check for doneness. I informed him he just took up all of my silverware including my knife and instead of just handing it back he said it was dirty and had to leave to get another one. I ordered the Ribeye and my wife ordered the filet. Asked for the ribeye to be cooked medium and it came medium rare which is fine by me and sent him on the way thinking there is no way I am sending this back and waiting another 30 minutes. I have had many great ribeyes in my life and this one fell way short, It was tough, hard to cut and very chewy. Felt like a very low quality steak despite the promise of a "top 2 percent grade" steak sourced from their own farms. The mashed potatoes and green beans that came as standard sides were actually the star of the show instead of the $63 steak. Said missing in action server never returned to ask how the meal was and showed up after we had completed our meals and asked if we would like a desert menu and noticed our waters empty so offered the refill. I was ready to leave and try to find another location for desert and coffee but we went ahead and ordered a creme brûlée to share before heading out. Took another 30 minutes for desert to arrive and I am expecting it to be flamed at the table or freshly made but came out ice cold throughout and obviously made early and just sitting in a refrigerator. No reason this should have taken 30 minutes to get to us if it was already pre-made. Needless to say we left feeling very disappointed. After all the reviews we have read we expected much more for a meal over $150. Would have gladly paid more for better ambiance, service and food quality. We actually had an amazing meal, service and ambiance at Paul Martins in the Domain 2 weeks ago and would it recommend them over Steiner ranch Steakhouse hands down!
Excellent steak house Beautiful views with live music
Excellent steak house Beautiful views with live music Perfect evening guaranteed. A must when in Austin
This used to be one of our favorite steak houses but now it
This used to be one of our favorite steak houses but now it really misses the mark on service. The food is still quality but it's less classy on the service side and more like an Applebees. It's loud in certain areas even ones not in the bar area. You have to yell to talk to the people at your table.... Not sure if they got new management but what used to be a stellar wait staff, is now more first week on the job service you would get at a cheddars or chili's. We literally had to ask 3 times for my youngest a kids menu. Remind them Of our appetizer order after 30 minutes.... Waited over an hour for our food... saw our waiter a total Of 4 times and each time with an oh I forgot. A bit disappointing to see such a normally great place going down hill.
An incredible location overlooking Lake Travis.
We were greeted by a friendly staff and seated in one of the dining rooms. After speaking with the waitress, I ordered the steak and tail, a 10 oz filet and 12 oz lobster tail. Both of them were incredible; however, the market price for the tail ($92) is a bit much. The filet as absolutely incredible so I think I'd rather have two filets then the steak and tail. I also had the brownie earthquake dessert, which was massive and amazing. I highly recommend Steiner Ranch for a nice meal, even if it is a bit pricey. Overall, lovely experience and I will come back.
This was our second time visiting Steiner Ranch Steakhouse.
.. and now, all my wife talks about is this steak! Aside from the beautiful grounds and amazing service the staff has always provided, the food is amazing. This last time we were there, I recommended our company planner to book us here for our team Christmas dinner with our spouses. So, although it was a limited menu.... The chef did not limit his/ her quality. The steak was cooled to perfection. The perfect amount of salt and pepper was sprinkled as it seared then im sure as it was finished off .. I mean, even the little fat it had was amazing. The sides we had were also taken to their perfect serving point. The mashed potatos weren't swimming im butter but were definitely not thirsty. The bartender was not shy about pouring some high quality spirits, sodas and other beverages. There was no delay from the serving staff and we never lacked anything as guests. Steiner is most certainly my go to now for anything special or.... My wife wants a steak on Tuesday :) Looking forward to Valentines dinner now.
NUT ALLERGY NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY
The night was lovely until the mains arrived. One of our party has a nut allergy which was made aware to the waitress, and was further made aware to the kitchen as the person with the allergy did not have any nuts on their plate. However not long after the main course arrived, I noticed that I had something resembling an almond on my plate on top of my asparagus. We asked our waitress what it was and she confirmed that it was in fact an almond. When discussing with her that this was not really acceptable as nut allergies along with many other allergies are highly transferable and I and the person with the allergies are a couple so I could easily have cross contaminated throughout the remainder of the night. After noticing the nuts I was not able to finish my meal. We also thought that once this was made aware that it could have at least been removed from the bill as they luckily escaped a potentially serious situation. Unfortunately this was not done until prompted and it was also met with some defensiveness by a manger that it was solely our responsibility. Even though it was never mentioned once on the menu or indeed by our server that the plate had any nuts at all. Due to the severity of allergies we should have been met with nothing but accountability and the decency of understanding that not only I would be unable to finish my meal, but my partner could been seriously, life threateningly ill. I would like to make clear that the waitress did confirm with us that she made that kitchen aware and that the service from her throughout the night was amazing and as it should have been and that we are in no way unhappy with her service. Until after our complaint it appeared that she took the brunt of the blame as her attitude seemed to change towards us after we had spoken to management. I would like to make aware that this is the restaurant as a wholes responsibility, this was a mistake on the kitchens part and would have hoped that staff that are trained in food production and health and safety that they should have taken this much more seriously than they did. And when met with resistance from management it was a disappointing end to the night that was up until then was a lovely night.
Go elsewhere. Overpriced and low quality.
So very disappointing. Taken there for my birthday dinner and was served an absolute low grade tenderloin (the end piece butterflied and we specifically asked it not be butterflied and received a low grade-not nearly a prime cut or choice cut of prime rib for my husband). Server was mediocre and had to comment on our choices and wasn't too attentive. Refused the birthday dessert as we couldn't even choke down the low qualify meal served which was sent back to fix. Go to TruLucks or Eddie V's if you want real quality and great service. Never again at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse. Longhorn steakhouse is a better value. Hey Steiner Ranch Steakhouse -Don't try to fool those raised around providing high quality beef to restaurants.
Everyone should go there ATLEAST once!
The overall experience was amazing. Food was excellent. Our server, Matt went over and above. I recommend it to anyone wanting the best steak of their life :-) And while you’re there look around…. Amazing pictures, memorabilia, and just beautiful things to see…. As well as the beautiful view.
Just ok.
This spot has a very nice view perched on a hilltop above the lake. But, you pay for the ambiance. Expensive. Average $180 per couple. (With alcoholic beverage) It’s all in what you like though. My husband and I went for the ribeye. My idea of a Texas “ranch Style” steak is a nice flame kissed steak. I was wrong. I only like my ribeye flame kissed and it was not! It was tender, flavorful but not what I prefer in a steak. And I prefer a baked potato with my steak. They only have French fries or mashed potato’s. The crème brûlée was a waste of money. I would go back possibly but not for the steak or crème brûlée. Maybe the seafood…….

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
