Steak Frites Bistro New York Reviews from The Last Year
This is a really cool place.
Escargot was fabulous. Probably the best I have ever had other than Lena's in the east Village. The people here were so friendly and nice. The steak frites was spot on.
Cozy and food was prepared to perfection! The Cote Boeuf
Cozy and food was prepared to perfection! The Cote Boeuf (Ribeye) was absolutely delicious! The waiters come to show you the sizzling steak then cut it up for you (both pictured). I would recommend the Au Poivre sauce over the Bearnaise sauce. We also had a delicious cherry almond flower pie with chantilly cream. Would highly recommend!!
Absolutely incredible steak.
Came here with my boo for Valentine's Day and the place was packed. The best part was when the cook came out with the steak still in the pan and offered it we wanted to take a photo of it before serving it to us.

Got the pre fix menu.
The service is amazing and very attentive. Very cute and nicely decorated place. The hanger steak is a bit tough but everything else is great. The soufflé is chef kiss, def satisfy the sweet tooth. The onion soup is great too.
Steak Frites Bistro is a solid French steakhouse at
Steak Frites Bistro is a solid French steakhouse at reasonable prices. Their prix fixe lunch ($38) and dinner ($55) menus are total steals, giving you ample amount of food and great variety. For those looking to order outside of the prix fixe menu, there's different cuts of meat that can be shared across 2 people (cote de boeuf, chateaubriand) for a bit of a higher price tag. We were a party of 4 who got 2 prix fixe menus, an assortment of cheeses, a cote de boeuf, and an additional cake for the table, which gave us quite the variety. Out of the appetizers, we had clear winners: - Grilled Merguez Saucisse: the meat was seasoned perfectly and matched well with the harissa and the gigante beans. This dish was neither particularly small nor large and made for a great start. - Selection of 3 cheeses: we got 2 cow's milk and 1 sheep's milk cheeses and all were delicious, but the creamy semisoft white cheese was the true standout here. With $7 for each cheese, this plate is rather pricy, but made for an easy sharing experience. - Pate de Campagne: our table was not a fan. The pate was not very creamy or spreadable and did not taste great. I'd skip next. For the mains, we had the hanger steak frites with butter and the Cote de Boeuf to share. Unpopular opinion, but I enjoyed the hanger steak a lot more than the large ribeye. It didn't help that we asked for medium rare and got a medium well done ribeye the first time around, and had to ask to get it corrected. They were quite receptive to this request and brought the new steak quite fast. Regardless, the ribeye did have some inedible parts whereas the hanger steak was soft and melted nicely in your mouth. We got the au poivre sauce next to our steak, which wasn't much to write home about; the steaks are good without any sauces. The thin fries that came with both dishes were perfect. The cote de boeuf also comes with a sizable lettuce and radish salad, which was delicious and cut the heaviness of the steak quite well. Now, the desserts. The petite soufflé was warm and gooey, served with a bitter chocolate sauce that felt lighter than other soufflés I've had. The crème brûlée was classic standard affair. We got the vanilla strawberry pistachio cake, which was also light and complemented the other desserts well. We didn't go hard on drinks here but the Lavender 75 is a simple gin based cocktail that had the perfect sweetness and is good to sip in between your large bites of steak. I'd come back here for the prix fixe menu, which luckily is served every single day. 3.5 / 5
Was craving steak frites and I just so happen to stumble on
Was craving steak frites and I just so happen to stumble on a restaurant whose namesake is exactly that, it was meant to be. Our waitress was amazing, I wished I caught her name, she made the night so memorable and offered amazing suggestions. We ordered cote de boeuf, beef for two people. It was a beautifully seared steak which they parade out to you before they slice it for you. It included a whole roasted garlic and side salad. We added a beautiful red wine sauce which was elevated with bone marrow, decadent was an understatement. The beef obviously came with two fries, but our waitress offered to swap one with another side, we went with seasonal vegetables, so nice! The fries were thin, crisp, and perfect with the mayonnaise it was served with! We were perfectly stuffed!!! BUT, the table next to us were on their desserts and the chocolate soufflé arrived at their table. We were drooling. We really wanted to try it, but we agreed we were too full; however, our outstanding waitress said she can order us a petite to share so we at least get to try, amazing girl! The soufflé presentation was table side and so fun! It was warm and not sweet at all. We ended the meal with an expresso martini and it was such a perfect dinner date.
it's good asf, drinks are good, steaks are good, the salads
it's good asf, drinks are good, steaks are good, the salads are good, and the ambience is good. i can't complain
Great place! Tartare, cocktails, wine, service.
.. exactly what we needed!! Can't wait to go back!
I loved the ambiance as well as their friendly service.
If I am to make suggestions, slight improvement to food would be ideal in my opinion. Mussel meat was smaller and french fries were a bit wimpy side although the flavor was fine.

Was a good restaurant went in with my coworker for lunch
Was a good restaurant went in with my coworker for lunch although I have to say I was quite disturbed with what happened. As we were eating lunch a hobo woman walked inside the restaurant directly to our table in my face and asked if I had any money to spare. I told her no and she got very aggressive. I was nervous she may have had a weapon or something as she started cursing and getting angry so I got up and walked away. Luckily the server came and kicked her out but at that point my lunch was ruined. I understand it's not the restaurants fault per se but other than a simple I'm sorry nothing was really done. The guy sitting alone at the bar and the lady next to us also received the same sorry but meanwhile I was the only one that had to deal with it. I also overhead the waiter say to guy at bar this woman has come in numerous times before. WTF! I'm not expecting a free meal but he should have at least apologized again with more sincerity or perhaps given us a free drink. Horrible neighborhood by the port authority and no need to go back. Was traumatizing if she did have a weapon could have ended much worse.
Steak Frites Bistro is a good place to get a taste of the
Steak Frites Bistro is a good place to get a taste of the French Bistro scene without paying for the airline ticket. I had been wanting to check this place out for some time and the kitchen would repeatedly earn its stripes. I arrived early for my reservation and sat at the bar drinking water. The bartender looked after me well; though I was not ordering drinks, which is commendable. My time for the reservation slipped by and the maitre d' lost track of me sitting at the bar as the place became busy. The bistro is arranged shotgun style with the bar on the right and the tables at the front of the house and along the left wall. The maitre d' took my order accurately. I ordered their very good Malbec, which stood up to all I was to order. I ordered the cote de boeuf, the 32 oz bone in ribeye for two medium rare, which is accompanied by a large two person order of fries and a salad. In my case, I had them hold half the order of fries for me to take home with my take home order off the prix fixe dinner menu, from which I had the onion soup as a starter, the chicken accompanied by its own fries, and the chocolate souffle. The bread, some sliced baguette and sliced rye sourdough were good, as was the whipped butter. The rye sourdough, tasting like beer in a good way, would come into play later. Given I knew certain things would not travel well to take home I started with the onion soup. This was not the best I have had in the US, but comes very close and quite commendable for the restraint in the use of salt. Too often restaurants will over salt the soup. Not here, the flavor of the onion soup and cheese did not need the salty assist. I ordered escargot as another starter. Thinly sliced celery was the only respite from the garlic, butter and herbs. The snails were not presented in the shells on an indented ceramic dish, missing an important presentation of escargot. It's also a bit overpriced. Small chunks of that rye sourdough soak up that delicious sauce and I added more. The Malbec was key to cutting through all this richness. The chef came to my table with the cote de boeuf in the pan and explained it would be sliced and plated in its presentation to me. That is a very nice touch from the kitchen and you smell that searing in the air. The ribeye is presented on a large oval platter, with a salad of hearts of romaine and grape tomatoes in vinaigrette, a roasted head of garlic, and fries on the side. The medium rare was closer to medium, but still quite juicy, with their maitre d' hotel butter scooped over the whole thing, melting into the steak. There is flavor upon flavor popping here folks! This is decadence. I would not recommend preceding this flavor bomb with the escargot. It would be too rich for most people. The steak is delicious, tender and juicy. The marbling, all the juices from the steak and butter, the sear and, if you want to go into decadent overdrive, spread some of that roasted garlic on your steak. If you've had the escargot, you can honestly skip the roasted garlic. It's all so very rich. The fries and hearts of romaine were excellent, but overshadowed by the ribeye. That Malbec was up to the job, as much as the kitchen was on point... I ate the chocolate souffle at the Bistro, given it would not travel well home. The presentation is excellent. Souffle is not that easy to do and they execute this without being overpoweringly sweet. There is bitter chocolate in there in a balanced amount, allowing you to enjoy and taste the authentic cacao. The kitchen shone here with the souffle and would have been better with coffee, cappuccino or espresso to highlight the softly bitter cacao content of their souffle. I ordered the poulet to go with the other half of my fries accompanying the ribeye and another order with the chicken, only to discover they forgot the fries. So this punctuated a disappointment in the end. What can I say, I love fries and who doesn't. The pate appetizer with the cornichon was okay and the only real letdown. However, the chicken is the sleeper at this Bistro. Don't you sleep on the poulet up in this Bistro. It's good, very good. The skin warmed up crisply in the oven and it is juicy and flavorful inside. The prix fixe menu is the bargain value at Steak Frites at $55 for dinner and I would highly recommend the prix fixe. The flank and chicken are both on the prix fixe menu. Otherwise, the Bistro can add-up. Aside from the missing fries (can you tell I was looking forward to them?) and hiccup in seating me, Steak Frites demonstrates what a Bistro is all about. You can get straightforward good dishes served as a great meal at a budget friendly rate or you can go all out if you want to live it up a little. It's elevated above a cafe in this sense, but casual and a step down in price from a full on steakhouse or upscale restaurant. So there is little reason to keep you from checking it out. Four stars
Overpriced food and drinks.
The dessert wasn't even good. It's definitely not worth the drive to the city for this.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Give the best answerDoes support work ?
I am having a tough time contacting and elucidating a response from AT Support. I had a listing at 6pm, which was a mistake as the actual listing reservation was at 11pm. This got somehow approved by AT, and a customer bought this from me for 6pm. I want to cancel this listing and refund customer , but there is no way of doing this ! This is so frustrating and making me lose hope on AT. Can someone help me please?

Banned from Resy for selling reservations- Do we have a rat on our hands???
I am new to this app and started off by selling a polo bar reservation and then quickly sold one more reservation. Not long after I received emails from Resy saying all my reservations are cancelled and I am being banned from Resy for life. How could this have possibly happened without a rat telling Resy that I sold the reservation. I need some advice on this situation and let’s catch the rat!
Give the best answerBid and Buy Instantly
I have a big ongoing and it also shows someone is working on my bid. Today I see there is a " Buy Instantly " option at my portfolio showing same price I've bid for a reservation. I'm a bit confused, since my money has already been deducted from my credit card for the bid, do I need to pay one more time for the Buy Instantly? If I choose Buy Instantly, can I cancel my bid ( while someone is working on it )? Thanks!
