Spirito di Vino Roma Reviews from The Last Year
Irony and kindness
There's little to say. The quality is excellent and certainly the not low average price is absolutely compatible with the quality level of the raw materials and the preparation of the dishes. The owner, friendly and ironic, found a place for us even without a reservation. The wait was a bit long but very acceptable, given the circumstances (it was on a Saturday evening, without having booked), enlivened by the owner's stories and by a bottle of prosecco offered by him and very much appreciated by us. This means knowing how to deal with customers. We will return, perhaps with more calm and awareness of what the place offers, given that we had planned another type of evening which then took a different turn. For the owner: we are waiting for you in Cagliari! And thank you for welcoming us so well.
Overrated
It is a restaurant that wants to stand out from the many places in Trastevere. The environment tends more towards refinement than towards typical Roman style. The venue has a low vaulted ceiling which makes for a suggestive atmosphere, with adequate lighting and excellent acoustics considering the full house. The dishes are prepared with care but choice of the menu is rather limited, devoid of side dishes, with little regional presence especially of the second courses (mostly Piedmontese) and desserts only by the spoon. Some proposals are original and pleasant but not so exciting. The welcome from the staff was very friendly, even if they were not very diligent with extended times both for placing the order and for being served. Top account to the average of the area also considering the measured portions.
Favorite place in Rome
This place is special. If you place a high value on family, service and authenticity…this is for you. The owner and staff are “all in” on making sure you are happy and satisfied. We got to meet his mom who is the chef, visit the wine cellar, but equally impressive was that he came outside to make sure the taxi picked us up. We loved this place. Chicken meatballs were so good. Even the house Chianti was really good.
Well
The food is good, normal, nothing extraordinary, the place is very small like many there, the price depends on what you order, I expected better, it's good to get to know
Out of Context 💟
Hospitality….. Professionalism….. Excellent cuisine….. Honesty…….. They are the ingredients that make this restaurant a place out of context... in a context like Trastevere! Congratulations Mr. Francesco to you, your staff but above all to those who work behind the scenes.... We will definitely come back to visit you.. Anthony
1st Night in Rome going on a recommendation of a friend, we
1st Night in Rome going on a recommendation of a friend, we venture via Uber to a small non descript section of Rome for our 1st dinner. We arrive and if you aren't looking for this place you won't find it. Nestled on a cobblestone road with no real markings we arrive to a charming little place greeted by the owner / chef who says sit anywhere there is a two top. 1st thing is he takes us down to the wine cellar, 2000 plus years old where he asked what type of wine we like, then brings us to the area where we he chooses one for us. Dusty old wines charming ambiance just great stuff. Wine is perfect then proceed to the food. 1st dish is a special, short pasta with buffalo Ricotta cheese topped with black truffle shavings. I could have stopped there because that was a 12 on the 10 scale. House bread was ok. Momma & His wife were in the kitchen as the owner shuffled between host, chef & waiter. Entrees were simply ok a sliced beef in a spicy red sauce was more like shredded beef, while the lean pork was a bit tough. We skipped dessert. All & all charming place, not a real tourist trap, should have stayed with the Pasta. Wine cellar alone is worth the trouble. Not overly expensive & the owner & staff were great.
A lighthouse in Trastevere ...
Definitely a quality dinner, relaxing and far from the chaos of Trastevere. Excellent and well portioned dishes. Unfortunately the chosen dessert (lavender flavored panna cotta) was not available, otherwise the dinner would have been perfect. The other desserts, although of good quality, were the usual ones (creme brulee, tiramisu, etc.). Good choice of wines. The only flaw is that the €3.00 cover charge is really excessive, considering that even water in a carafe costs €3.00
Birthday dinner
It was my birthday, the food was excellent, we had starters, main courses and desserts. The wine recommendations and the food accompanied by stories about the history of the house/family were more than pleasant/welcome. Definitely a recommendation! It made my birthday perfect.
Spirit and soul
..dining in this place is an all-round experience, Francesco is a man of multifaceted talent and is the (welcoming) soul of this restaurant. His mother, behind the scenes, but with a boundless passion, is instead the powerful driving force, committed to preparing simple dishes, but extremely balanced in terms of taste and with an exceptional quality of the ingredients. The cellar is worth, as they say, the "ticket price", absolutely worth visiting regardless of the copious presence of labels for all tastes and budgets.
A protected corner in Trastevere
Spirito diVino for me is a madeleine. It takes me back a few years. It's always a private pleasure. Fine cuisine. Property always the same and with the same color.
Great place to eat if you're a history buff! The wine room
Great place to eat if you're a history buff! The wine room in the basement is incredible! The stone is very old and used to be a 11th century synagogue. This restaurant was part of our food Eating Europe tour and was a crowd favorite. Everyone was blown away by the stew and red wine.
excellent
Without a doubt the best restaurant I've been to in Rome The most delicious pasta I've ever eaten at a very high level excellent service The only reason I didn't give five circles is the price which was a bit high for my taste
Amazing restaurant!
Amazing traditional italian food made by a local family. We had a starter with some different cheeses, and truffle pasta for our main course. They have a great selection of wine, if you want you can go into the wine cellar and choose one for yourself :-) A bit expensive, but I think it’s because they use good ingredients. Definitely worth it!
Great food, happy to see the wine cellar
I came without a reservation and the place was empty, so I had no trouble being seated. This was probably attributable to it being January because the food was lovely! They invited me down, with my wine, to the wine cellar to look around while my food was being prepared, and it was lovely. Pasta, wine, and dessert were excellent. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the food, but please do note that they charge a "pane e coperto" of 3 euros. Copertos (covers) are banned in Rome but apparently some restaurants in Rome charge for "pane e coperto" (bread and cover) which is technically legal. Now I understand why the waiter encouraged me to eat the last slice of bread lol -- just something to be aware of!
WONDERFUL DINNER
The owner is friendly and pleasant. All the dishes very well prepared. At the end they gave us a gift of a bottle of wine.
They ruined my evening
I booked for a special evening with my family on the occasion of my birthday about a week in advance. My daughter had come from Milan etc. We arrived and found the restaurant half closed with a little man who babbled that the restaurant was closed for work? For an event? Then nothing. I'm angry. Not a warning call, not an apology. Extremely incorrect
So disappointed.
... had been there a few months ago to celebrate my sister's birthday. Friend who had been there a few years ago highly recomeneded...slow food, chef, service and wine cellar history. Had a lovely meal and chef's son/manager was welcoming and even sent us home with a bottle of wine. This time, =was on trip with friends- and brought them with us- so table of 9! we are all foodies and very fond of good wine... I told him i was there back in April and what i a lovely time we had- he did not remember us, of course, but did not mind at all. But, the service was slow, he was condescending when we ordered, was short tempered with his staff in front of us- there was nothing welcoming... we were told we could go down to the cellar to pick out wine... seems like a bit of a marketing ploy as wines on menu, i.e. white...were down there and not chilled....

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
