Sollip - an amazing experience
This was our 2nd visit and it did not disappoint. Amazing food, service and ambience and definitely deserving of its Michelin star. Attention to detail on every dish with an explanation of what we were being served and how to eat some of them. A big thank you to the Sollip team.
Be the first to ReplySimply a wonderful evening
Tonight we ventured down to Sollip, where the owners have used their training in French & European style of cooking and fused it with Korean techniques and ingredients. They only offer a 6 course tasting menu which didnโt disappoint from start to finish. The food was as good as we hoped and nothing that touched our lips disappointed. The pairings were spot on and at ยฃ87/person, value for money. Now, the front of house, they just nailed it. From the moment we walked in, until we left, we were treated to the upmost professionalism, care and they were well versed in the dishes they were about to service. Every member of the team that served us knew what the dish was, why it was blended together with those flavours and ingredients. It was like they were challenging the chef himself. This is so rare to see among the many of the Michelin restaurants we once visited over the past 18 months. Well done team Sollip. We will be back when your menu changes to sample the magic of the next season
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Korean Michelin starred restaurant near London Bridge
This is a wonderful hidden gem small restaurant. It is behind The Shard and London Bridge station. Korean with other influences, it deservedly has a Michelin star. It is small with very friendly service. The tasting menu for lunch was delicious, amazing flavours. All 5 courses were explained. We also had the wine pairing which was very good and complemented the food well. We have already recommended this to friends.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect
The food at this 1 star Michelin restaurant was amongst the best I've eaten, even better than some 2 or 3 star places. The dining room is small, intimate and cosy. Staff were warm and welcoming, and lovely. Made us feel at home. The wine pairing menu was excellent - each wine was perfect for each course. The star of the show was the food. The Korean influence is subtle, but there. A slight note of heat, a tang at the end of a bite, truly magnificent. Difficult to pick favourites, but the pork was sublime. The sea bream was perfect. Loved the Gamtae Sandwich canape. All of it was so well thought out. I could eat it all again. I hope this restaurant continues to prosper, it's a real gem.
Be the first to ReplySimply outstanding!
We visited a few days ago to celebrate our Anniversary. The experience from start to finish was simply incredible. The waiters and waitresses were all very attentive and kind, providing excellent service. The food was delicious - a lovely variety and we enjoyed all courses. I particularly enjoyed the presentation of the tea leaves at the end to choose a tea for after our meal, a nice exciting touch! Receiving an anniversary card was really lovely and we just genuinely had a lovely time and would certainly return. I would highly recommend! Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Be the first to ReplyNot really Korean, nice place, nice staff, nice Chef, but expected much more from the foodโฆ
A nice, clean and well organised room. The service is friendly and generally efficient, we had a waitress who had to seek assistance re infirmation, but the others well well informed and very nice. The chef is clearly talented, serious and generally very good. There were things that did not work well together food wise. At one point there was a palette cleanser sorbet/ice cream, it was like from a supermarket, inexcusable really. I found this review very hard because the chef came round to most tables to say hello, I could tell he is talented, but would say he may need a bit of time to decide what type of food this is, in order to excel in it. When you have a Michelin star you cannot really be ok, you need to be great at every level. If he can make this a distinctively amazing modern Korean restaurant - he is talented enough to do it - he might even get two stars. He is now neither Korean nor European, I was lost. I will return in 6 months and hope it will be all that I had hoped it to be. Good luck.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding and truly unique
Our son booked Sollip to celebrate his birthday and to be honest we were a bit skeptical due to the cost and one of us being vegetarian. Happy to say that we were simply blown away by this restaurant. The atmosphere and warm welcome instantly made us feel at home and relaxed. The waiting staff were far more than that, so very friendly, welcoming and charismatic. The chef popped out to say hi and our son received a birthday card ( & slice of delicious cake & candle at end of meal) which was a lovely gesture. We had the Tasting menu and wine pairing. The whole experience was simply outstanding. All the dishes were truly delicious ( menus posted on previous review) with so much care and attention to detail given to both food and wine. The vegetarian dishes were incredible in their own right rather than an after thought. This meal was the most expensive we have ever had but considering the sheer quality and skill and that we were there for 3 hours itโs an experience we will savour for many years to come. Thanks to all at Sollip, wishing you all the best for the future.
Be the first to ReplyIs this the best restaurant in London?
Is this the best restaurant in London? I would say so. We love Da Terra, Cycene, Clove Club but this is up a notch further. We had the tasting menu and every course was sublime. The service was fantastic, cheerful and helpful. This is cooking of the very highest order and greatest skill. Woongchul Park, the chef, is a culinary genius. Go! It must surely be about to get two Michelin stars.
Be the first to ReplyA nice small place to recommend
A very great experience from start to end. A small, nice restaurant, hidden away behind an anonymous entrance. Very friendly staff, great tasting menu and good wine pairing. Absolutely a place to recommend
Be the first to ReplyNice but need to step up on the surprise part!
They serve a 9 course meal which without the amuses is a 7 course meal. Some of the dishes were exiting, daring even but the amuses and other dishes were rather flat. Wine pairing wete great. Not the wines i would like to drink a bottle of but with the dishes very nice. Coffee was tooooo dark roasted!
Be the first to ReplyA litte bit disappointed... good but nothing outstanding.
We waited six weeks to get a table at SOLLIP - a Michelin star restaurant everyone us talking about and I have to admit we were a little bit disappointed. 9 dishes incl. appetisers and beside the desserts which were different, yet supe yummy the rest of the dishes were good but not outstanding. Its a good restaurant, its original but it's not gourmet aka in French 'gourmand'.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious and Interesting!
Every course was very well presented and delicious. Interesting too that they had a tea pairing as well as a wine pairing for those who donโt wish to drink alcohol
Be the first to ReplySuch a refreshing concept
I really loved sollip, it's gone immediately to the very top of my favourite places in London. The food is masterful but unpretentious at the same time, the service is very warm but not invasive, the setting is simple but pleasant. And the price for a tasting menu is quite refreshing for London. I will be back, hopefully.
Be the first to ReplyElegant, delicious, unique, and simply superb
Absolutely wonderful. Every course of their tasting menu was fabulous, but the lamb course was probably the best single course I have ever had the joy of experiencing. The mugwort dessert sails into my top 3 desserts of all time. We went for the wine pairing, which we thought was reasonably priced and worked well. In short, Sollip is superb and the chefs/staff should be very proud.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing place.
A wonderful evening. The food was spectacular. Especially the beef tartare, but all were exquisite. The flavours were exceptional merging classic French cookery with Korean flavours. The staff were lovely. Well worth a visit.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful experience
The food was great, the tastes something unexpected, but not too far out there. Not trying too hard like some Michelin starred restaurants tend to do. Minimalist decor, which I liked at least - tables are stacked quite close together in this small place. The staff were excellent, especially Kristin who was very friendly and made one feel welcome and cared for.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing restaurant and team
The restaurant has a great ambience, amazing team, brilliant wine pairing and delicious food. Very good value for Michelin star dining, canโt wait to return.
Be the first to ReplyA small and cozy, upscale yet informal restaurant
A small and cozy, upscale yet informal restaurant (1 minute away from London Bridge station) run by Korean chefs offering a European-style set tasting menu with a subtle Asian twist.
The service was super-friendly and genuinely made us feel welcome.
Perfect for a special treat.
Fabulous fusion of classical European and Korean cooking styles
Highly recommended.
Recently awarded a well deserved Mich Star.
Tasting menu: A high fixed price, but very good value for the quality and uniqueness.
Subtle, highly refined and very clever fusion of classic European & Asian cooking styles.
We especially enjoyed the red mullet (with aged kimchi), aged duck, and beef tartare (with mild chilli).
Truly unique in London.
Superb wine pairings by Noble Rot.
Excellent, very professional and very charming service.
Minor detail: My personal taste would be for a slightly less stark room decor.
Weโll be back soon.
Nice cuisine with Korean spirit
The Orkney Scallop is amazing, I feel they mustโve spent lots of time working/experimenting on the flavor, itโs complex yet perfect. Sesame Madeline is also very special.
I give it 4 star because Iโm not full after the 9 courses and I want to order KFC takeout home..
Sensational.
Amazing experience. Everything from the food to the atmosphere and staff was perfect. Will definitely be coming back again!
Be the first to ReplyAn absolute delight, I canโt remember a better meal in years.
Iโd wanted to visit when I first read about Sollip opening in 2020. It took some time, but my god Iโm glad I finally got the chance.
This is one of those places I love, where you know the rough idea of the food, but every dish that comes out is a surprise. I had flavours put together that Iโd never experienced before (especially in the Fig Tartlet) and now canโt stop thinking about them and when Iโll get to try again.
I learnt about new things, nurungji- the crispy โscorched riceโ that you get on the bottom of a pan, which was infused into the sourdough bread.
And for a 9 dish menu, I consider it an absolute steal. Each dish has complexity, and sophistication that hints of many hours in research and development to get to what youโre tasting.
Maybe Iโm just fatigued from the past year of tedium and lack of restaurant visits, but I cannot think of a meal I enjoyed more in the past 5 years.
The front of house staff trod the perfect line of attentiveness. We were never left waiting for anything, but also not unnecessarily interrupted. Which is an impressive feat considering there was only two of them covering the place, and most tables were having the wine pairing. Knowledgable, informative, friendly.
Wine pairing was great, a lot of French influence on there. We had a champagne, a red, and the rest whites. The wine list has got some serious numbers on it if you want to go off-piste.
A Meursault on the pairing had been swapped out for a Sancerre. Iโm not sure if this was by improvement or adaption, but I rarely complain when given a glass of Sancerre, so no grumbles here.
Itโs a lovely space, very minimal skandi light wood and open shelves. Jazz piping through. Quality glassware that adds to the enjoyment of a drink. It feels special without being stuffy.
My advice, go as soon as you can. Get the wine pairing. Tell all your friends. Take all your friends. I know Iโm already thinking about my return.
Korean food at its best
I took my husband to this restaurant for his birthday in July. We had the 7 course taster menu with wine pairing. It was really fantastic - lots of different flavours in perfectly crafted Korean cuisine. I chose this particular place because it's only recently opened and I wanted to support a new and up and coming restaurant and at the same time experience Korean food. Well worth going too.
Be the first to Replytrue korean french fusion
Stunningly simple tranquil room, in contrast to the beautiful and complex dishes. Basically take Korean ingredients and add them to exquisitely rendered French classics, with an artist's touch. Miso spiked gougeres, cassoulet with kimchi, short rib with cooked cucumber, and of course the much trumpeted daikon tarte tatin with chive cream. All delicious, rich yet not cloying, with tireless staff explaining all the unknown terminology. The dishes are not huge, the prices add up quickly, but this is still excellent value for the quality you are getting.
Be the first to ReplyEverything you have heard about Sollip is true
This is a sensational new restaurant. Classic French dishes are reinterpreted through the prism of Korean ingredients and culinary tradition with care and attention to detail. These are small plates so order three each plus dessert (the cassoulet is magnificent) and you will go away happy and satisfied. The hospitality is warm and this is just the place to go to eat well and beat the COVID-blues
