Sixty Three Clinton New York Reviews from The Last Year
I actually don't know how they get one star Michelin.
Food is ok but the taco breakfast is pretty salty to my taste, the potatoes chawanmushi is way too rich and creamy with egg york, cheese, crunchy fried shallots made me couldn't eat finish the second spoons, we substituted shrimps and grits with Langoustine, my friend said there is no flavor.. I think it's fine, food is just not good. It's ok Wait staff is nice but we unfortunately sit next to the most loudest Millennium couple that took their FaceTime, turned on TikTok and talked very loud like they were fighting.. for 2.5 hrs torture.. we are dead The co-owner Raymond came to every table that has young girls to talk but ignored our table lol.. terrible experience, not worth the price.
Loved Sixty Three Clinton! Heard a lot of great things
Loved Sixty Three Clinton! Heard a lot of great things about this place from friends and finally got the chance to try. Booked about 2 weeks prior and only 1 time slot was available for multiple days, so make sure you book as early as possible! The place was a little difficult to find like many Michelin star restaurants but we managed to find it ok. Food was amazing, service was great! I can really see why this place deserves a Michelin star. We were attended very attentively from the moment we walked in, there was not a single moment when I felt like I couldn't find someone to fill my water or answer my questions. And like all upscale restaurants, they had very thorough explanations for the food. The food was so delicious, and very worth it for the price in terms of fancy restaurants, $112/person. Each course had an amazing mixture of flavors and honestly decent amount as well. My favorites were the scallop, perfectly fresh and great combination with peanuts in their sauce; followed by the lamb dish, it was so tender and really brings out the natural flavor of the lamb. Overall, the restaurant was amazing, also pretty romantic ambiance, would be great for date night, but honestly I would recommend for any occasion!
Service: 5/5 Food: 4.
5/5 Ambiance: casual, but can still work for a romantic date night or special occasion spot The staff is so friendly + accommodating. Don't be put off by a 9pm dinner service, especially if you want a more intimate evening. What I Ordered: Mocktail (orange, cardamom, ginger beer)- perfectly balanced, not too sweet Breakfast Taco- highly recommend you add uni, that was my favorite part. potato was crispy, but the tortilla could've been softer Ajoblanco Scallop- chiltepin irritated my sensitive throat, but I still really liked this dish scallops were fresh + sweet Potato Chawanmushi- so well executed + comforting to me! favorite dish of the night + very unexpected for a steamed egg dish Cheddar Bay Biscuit- butter wasn't that flavorful + it was a little dry for me, but still brought the nostalgia of the famed Red Lobster version Shrimp + Grits- pretty standard. chili crisp was not at all spicy + I wish it came with 2 shrimps Lamb Loin + Belly- first time for me + I loved both! perfectly cooked + paired Poached Pear- it was good, but I felt like it didn't achieve it's peak potential. cream anglaise never disappoints for me Basque Cheesecake- loved the touch of flaky salt + olive oil. still can't decide how I feel about the sherry muscat grapes.
Sixty Three Clinton is a great spot in the Lower East Side.
Like The Musket Room it's a fairly affordable (compared to most) Michelin Star restaurant offering a 7 course tasting menu. The space is broken up into two rooms - one with bar seating and counter seating with a view of the kitchen, the other is a proper dining room. The current tasting menu offered; Breakfast Taco - a signature dish of the restaurant, I opted to add uni which was additional. This is an excellent first bite. Diver Scallop - raw scallop cut up and mixed with a cold like soup broth. The scallop was fresh and delicious, the soup which I believe was mix of miso, lemon, and horseradish was rather refreshing and a good accompaniment to the scallop. Potato Chawanmushi - I added black truffle as an additional accompaniment. This was incredible, one of the best dishes I've ever had. It's cheddar, Benton ham, and egg yolk in an egg custard. It was like having the best potato skin ever. It also came with the nights bread service of a Comte biscuit which was also amazing. Shrimp N Grits - one shrimp deep fried like tempura on top of some grits. Nothing bad about it, though it was my least favorite of the meal. Duck A L'Orange - Sixty Three Clinton's take on the dish was excellent. The tender duck mixed with five spices and the grilled cabbage accompaniment were great. Poached Pear - a very solid dessert bite. Basque Cheesecake - I'm not a big cheesecake fan but this was one of the best cheesecakes I've had. This was light, perfect amount of sweetness, and delicious. The service at Sixty Three Clinton was phenomenal. The whole staff was very nice and explained each dish thoroughly without coming off as pretentious. Highly recommend.
this might be one of my favorite restaurants in nyc.
their tasting menu was absolutely amazing. every dish was delicious for me including their signature like the breakfast taco and the caviar hand roll. I loved their take on shrimp and grits as well. their cocktails are also amazing. i highly recommend their white negroni. staff was super friendly as well. will definitely come back.
Really cozy and intimate space.
Service was really attentive and friendly- there was a rotation of people stopping by to deliver and present each dish in the course. The dishes offered in the tasting menu changes seasonally and I appreciate the fact that they can accommodate substitutions for certain dishes. The creativity in combo of flavors is definitely amazing. Some dishes however was really salty but overall, great experience with great food and ambience.
I would take a loan out to eat here again.
The service is supreme. Make a reservation and be on time because they seat immediately ( which I loved). We ordered the full tasting menu and I give every course 10/10. Most Michelin star restaurants focus too much on the experience, not 63 C. There's a nice balance with the star being the incredible flavors of the food. The vibe in the restaurant is nice for a first date or a 50th anniversary. The bartender makes some of the best drinks in the city. We ordered a white Negroni and a dirt Martini. The caviar hand-roll is a must. It's on my list of top 5 things I've ever eaten!
A fine restaurant with delicious food.
The menu rotates very often, so the dishes and flavors you see will likely be different each visit. Our menu heavily emphasized Southern flavors, perhaps a bit too much. Breakfast taco (3/5) - Was hyped for this, but found it to be boring. The taco is fluffy, the potato is crispy, and salmon roe bursts with umami. However, there wasn't anything impressive about the flavors. Caviar handroll (4/5) - Simple but delicious. Caviar, sushi rice, wasabi - it tastes great! Heard that the amount of caviar they give is well worth the $55 supplement price. They definitely give a generous amount of caviar, but it doesn't feel like so when eating the handroll. Bluefin tuna (4/5) - Bluefin tuna was rich and melts in your mouth and the ice-flavored cucumber was a delightful surprise. The sourness of the tomato broth elevated the tuna. Corn agnolotti (4/5) - The stuffed pasta was delicious, the pasta was cooked well and the stuffing was creamy. The sauce had Southern flavors and the corn provided a delightful sweetness. Caraflex cabbage (5/5) - My favorite dish of the night. The comte cheese, sauces, hazelnuts are a magical combination and a beautiful crunch from the hazelnuts and cabbage. Pork (3/5) - My main problem with this menu is that there are way too many of the same strong flavors (southern flavors). After the third dish, it becomes too repetitive and boring. Japanese milk bread (4.5/5) - Has a delightful sourness and is super fluffy with a crispy exterior. With the butter, it is incredible. Not complementary however, had to pay around $10 for a second loaf. Meringue with granola crust (4/5) - The meringue was beautifully done, with a crispy top. The dessert was creamy and salty and sweet, amazing! Elevated Reese's pieces (5/5) - The chocolate was so smooth and rich and silky and buttery, done perfectly. The crust is salty and crunchy. Felt similar to the previous dessert which is disappointing, but nevertheless delicious. Overall, a delicious meal but just felt a bit cheap and flat for "fine dining" in ingredients and flavors.
About a 2-2.
5: Sixty Three Clinton offers a seasonal menu focusing on modern American fare. We came here for a group dinner, trying their 7-course menu: +Breakfast Taco - with ajitama, salsa verde, and trout roe +Boston Mackerel - prepared with turnip, white miso, yuzu, and horseradish; wasn't a fan of the turnip; the fish was slightly fishy +Potato-Leek Soup - including littleneck clams and a cheddar bay biscuit +Caraflex Cabbage - with comte, nori, and hazelnuts; this was served with a Hokkaido milk bread for the leftover sauce +Turkey Roulade - served with cornbread, gravy, and lingonberries +Green Apple Sorbet - served with creme anglaise and oatmeal crumble +Honeynut Squash Cremeux - with gingerbread and caramel We also opted for adding the caviar handroll, which we were disappointed in; wasn't really impressed with the quality of it. Overall, the meal was just okay; the space was intimate, and I liked the foliage artwork and the cozy setting. Service was nice and attentive. +friendly service
I went to Sixty Three Clinton to celebrate my one year
I went to Sixty Three Clinton to celebrate my one year anniversary and Raymond and his team treated us to one of the most special nights we could've had. The service was incredible!! We laughed all night long with the staff and they couldn't have been more personable. Food was fantastic, Umeboshi Fizz cocktail was excellent, and the champagne we had went perfectly with our meal. 10/10 would recommend and will most definitely be dining here in the near future :)
