We had a pretty cool experience sitting at the best seats
We had a pretty cool experience sitting at the best seats in the house at the chef's counter, I loved being able to watch how all the dishes come together! We loved the frenal bread, hummus, charred broccolini, shrimp skewer, beef Adana, and the steak shish kabab! The bang bang shata hot sauce, was so good we put it on everything! Our server was also the sweetest person ever!
Be the first to ReplyFood, service and ambiance are all excellent.
But it is quite pricey and tables are hard to find.
Be the first to Replywasn't sure what to expect as my friend picked this spot
wasn't sure what to expect as my friend picked this spot for dinner but it really surprised me! the food was delicious, prices were fair (for a decent place in nyc), and portions were filling! we had a res for 2 at 5:45 and the place was already packed. they sat us at the bar and we asked if we could move to a table - they let us move to an available table but let us know we had an hour time limit which we were fine with. the servers were v kind and attentive, esp given how crowded the place was/got (there was barely any room to walk out when we left as the line was huge so make sure to book a res!) the food came out relatively quickly, but we waited mostly on the steak shish kebab. the server recommended we get 1 dip, 1 bread, 3-4 apps, and 1 entree for the 2 of us. we ended up ordering 3 apps, 1 entree, and 1 dessert w the mindset that we might have to order more but after everything besides the dessert came we were already stuffed! the portions may look a bit small but they are def filling! the roasted cauliflower - had a nice charred taste and a great sauce that paired well w it. my friend said it tasted like meat! this was a great app w lots of flavor and wasn't too heavy shukette chicken nuggets - these were super juicy pieces of chicken which surprised me bc it's rare to find fried chicken that isn't dry inside. the seasonings were perfect and flavorful that it didn't need a dip and the outside had a great amount of crunch - not too hard, but the crisp is there! shukette pickles - my friend was more of a fan of these I'm not too much of a pickle girly personally so they didn't appeal to me as much but she LOVED them grass-fed steak shish kebab - the warm chickpea side it came on top of was probs the star of the show for me! it was super flavorful w a range of flavors that worked so well tgt! i would've licked the plate if I could. the meat itself was a bit chewy and the pieces on the bottom of the skewer were worse than the ones on top (might be diff cuts of meat?) but the chickpeas made up for it the mic drop - this might be a MUST order for me. at first I was thrown off by the price ($12 for a soft serve?!) but after my first bite, my mouth felt like it was in heaven! the soft serve itself is super creamy w an amazing tahini/sesame flavor which isn't too sweet but j right! the halva floss on top didn't really add any flavor or texture for me it seemed like it was more for presentation. the pomegranate syrup was extremely tart which served as a nice balance w the soft serve but too much of it threw me off (my friend hated it). the hazelnuts at the bottom added a great crunchy texture and complimented the soft serve well!

The waitress was attentive and helpful for first-timers! The variety of food was exactly what we were looking for.

Everything was fresh and tasted good, though not mind blowing. My biggest gripe is that Shukette was overpriced with small portions (6 medium shrimp for 18, a small bread for 10, pies is ordered separately from dips). We were not full and spent 30/person on each. Service and ambience was fine- we sat outdoors in the non covered section and there happened to be lots of fire trucks blaring their alarms, but not the restaurant's fault, obviously. We decided to give Shukette a try after loving Shuka downtown. I would just stick with Shuka - I prefer the ambience there, and the food is more delicious and filling for less.

Excellent small dishes and fun to share make this a remarkable place to get together with friends!
Be the first to ReplyIncredible food.
The scallop dish was fire. Pure umami with every bite. We also enjoyed the lamb skewers and meatballs. The egg dip and feta dip were both delicious.

One of my favorite restaurants in NYC! We sat at the bar and absolutely loved getting to watch the team at Shukette make the Frena! Pretty much everything on the menu is fabulous, we love the small plates, and I absolutely love all the seasonings of each dish. Coming from DC, we have some pretty top-notch middle eastern food, but this was sooo good and I can't wait to return!
Be the first to ReplyChefs counter us a fun experience if you get a good seat.
The chicken is our favorite and the cream bread is amazing. there are several dishes we would not order again and that includes all the dips that one would get for the Frena bread. Tried both kebabs, just okay and burnt myself on the steel (wrap it in a napkin)
Be the first to ReplyEverything was delicious! Family style tapas style food.
Order everything!! All the dishes are flavorful, and unique and everything goes so well together. Their starters, dips, entrees, breads, and tahini ice cream were all delicious. Fun vibe, great staff, and they bring ice to your table for drinks, which uncommon, and an extra plus!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food.
Their frena bread and labneh is amazing. Their grilled chicken melts in your mouth. Place is amazing

Yum. Thats the experience we had. Good food great service. The Frena bread is to die for with the hummus. The Charred Cauliflower was a miss for us. We saw every single table order that but honestly we did not like it.Mushroom Arayes - yum. It comes with a dip all goodA special mention to the drink i had it was soo good - Kayseri - very tasty with egg whites - kinda different take on a sour. Ambiance - it was buzzing and even though we got the high table seating it did not feel uncomfortable. Great overall.
Be the first to ReplyHosts were unusually rude and honestly ruined the vibe.
I wish I could say the food was better but it was either to sour or too spicy. We ordered the wagyu beef which was no better than supermarket ground beef. The potatoes and broccolini were over charred. There are about a million better middle eastern restaurants in NYC and you should take your business elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyLove Shuka so had high hopes, but was totally disappointed.
Meh flavor in food and nothing was exceptional that we had at all. Wine list overpriced and not very good. Need at least a couple great wines by the glass on a dinner menu. We had a specialty bread that was doughy and only a little flavor, labneh ok, nothing special, carrots ok, butter beans totally bland, shrimp fine, again boring, Iranian rice tasty but not interesting enough to go back for. We stopped ordering as didn't really like any of it. Malbec was best red on the menu by the glass and really just drinkable.

Flavorful and thoughtful Moroccan small plates are perfect for sharing. Had the harissa carrots, Iranian rice, steak kabobs, sweet potato and follows this with soft serve. Pricey but outstanding. Service was attentive. Sat outside on a cold night and was plenty warm. Very happy we made reservations and tried this place during our week in NYC.

The food was so flavorful and unique! We started with the labneh and the frena which was their recommended bread and I can see why! It was spiced with oregano and garlic and paired well with the labneh. We also had the lafa bread which was like a flat pita.I highly recommend the fish in a cage because the fish was cooked to perfection with delicious spices. We got the reservations about a month in advance. The ambiance is a great spot for a date night or a meal with friends.
Be the first to ReplyAll things considered I give this place 3 stars.
4 stars for quality of the food, 3 stars when considering the cost. The best thing on the menu is the frena, chicken and the shish kebab. The Adana truly lacked flavor and the citrus salad was underwhelming (tasted like oranges w mild sumac). The lebnah was a classic. Overall , great mediterranean experience for a novice.

Couldn't get a reso, but we walked in and they were able to accommodate us in the outside seating area. It is well heated and cozy. We ordered the labneh with fena. It is absolutely to die for. We split some small plates including the mushroom stuffed pitas, cauliflower, and shrunk skewers. All delicious. I recommended trying the tahini soft serve for dessert. It's really different and taste it.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my GO TO spot in Chelsea.
The menu is incredible and everything I have tried here is excellent. Every time I'm in NYC I snag a reservation here - at this point I think I have tried each seasonal menu!

For my first time trying middle eastern cuisine, I was impressed! I tried a mixture of the small plates and some of my favorites included the labnah and the bread (forgot the name). The charred broccolini was a miss for us. It was overly charred and inedible. Thankfully our server let us swap this out for something else.Service was spot on! Our server had some great recommendations for us. When making a reservation almost all of the indoor dining was booked, so we opted for the outdoor seating. To my surprise this was just as comfortable and warm. I enjoyed this much better than being inside because it wasn't as loud.

Stopped here for a light dinner on Saturday night, I had a reservation so I was seated upon arrival (highly recommend making a reservation). The place is very nice & clean it's in Chelsea area, staff were welcoming and nice. No complimentary bread or sauces are served like other Middle Eastern restaurants. Ambience & music were good! The menu has a decent variety of twisted Middle Eastern dishes, the plates & portions are small for the price tho so don't expect decent portions here. If you are hungry you will need t order multiple things just keep that in mind. I ordered the labnah & bread both were on point!! Overall a decent experience!

Make reservation first! But it won't wait so long to be seated. I came there with my friend at my Bday. The server is very nice! The food and drink are great! It's always packed.
Be the first to ReplyI loved it here! The experience was excellent.
From our sweet attentive kind server-Ashley to the amazing Chefs-Eloid, Luis and the rest of their team. Sitting at the bar was the best view as we watched the Chefs working the magic in the kitchen. It was truly enjoyable. Highly highly recommend this place. Honestly, the food was Delicioso!! I will return for sure. Guys, check this place out. No joke. This is a real review. Thank you all for making our time here a very memorable one. You rock Shukette!

Amazing server and food was delivered promptly, but unfortunately the food and the wine disappointed everyone in our party. We all agreed Shuka is far superior to Shukette. The best dish we had of 8 was the lamb, but only those of us who had the lamb all had stomach aches hours later.

Shukette's curb appeal does not do it Justice as the interior is quite appealing. We had an excellent meal, albeit pricey with a good bottle of wine. Ordered for our party of four the following : Labne ( ***), Hummus (not excellent but good) and Trout dip ( ***) to start with a few Frena's ( their best bread, excellent). The Cherries ( ***) and peach salad ( *meh) followed. Ended with three mains- Fish in a cage (***), chicken ( ***) and lamb skewer (***) with the fish the best. Ended with the strawberry sorbet that was excellent. Service was great - everyone was both efficient and friendly. Loved it.
