Made reservations there thru Resys almost a month ago.
The day of the reservation, Resys text to confirm my reservation. We all arrived there to find that the restaurant closed. No attempt was made to reach out to me that it was closed. Called the restaurant and no one answered nor could I leave a message.

We came for lunch last weekend and found it to be a great experience, food, service, venue, all great! It was a great day so we sat right on the cusp of the inside space with the front wall totally open. But even inside it had the vibe of a very outdoorsy, airy space. The menu is fantastic, everything has that unique Mott-style twist to it with Asian influence. Only problem is that the burger is still there and it's a top-3 burger in the city. Incredible burger with the hoisin aioli and miso butter, perfectly cooked patties. I don't like American Cheese but here it kinda works. Super filling burger so just keep that in mind when ordering. Will definitely return! Lovely experience.

Formerly Mini Mott (don't worry the burger is still on the menu) we had a lovely dinner at Second Generation. Our favorite dishes were the eggplant and the chicken katsu. The eggplant is soft but still with some texture on sourdough with a soft yolky egg and oyster mushrooms. The flavors blended nicely together and the sourdough was surprisingly an excellent vehicle. We finished off with a delicious mint soft serve with a gooey matcha marshmallow and brownie.

Great great burger and aioli with the French fries was delish! The location on the boulevard was really great for people-watching. Nice for a brunch date with my girlfriend. A little too loud and iced coffee was pretty watered down but overall food was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyI love this place.
I keep recommending it to everyone. Everything I had was a hit. I especially loved the eggplant sandwich (this is worth returning for, and anyone [veg or non veg] will appreciate the complexity of the flavors and juxtaposition of textures). The burger was delicious. And the Goldfinch dessert was perfect! Dairy free too! Just like Arnold says, "I'll be back."

Very different flavors, well seasoned. Highly recomnended, wirth tha distance and traffic jam.

4.5 stars! Come for the burger, stay for the Midnight Pasta, skip the hummingbird doughnuts. The burger absolutely lives up to the hype and I hope to see hoisin featured in more burgers! The Midnight pasta is so unctuous and flavorful.

After hearing about this spot from a few folks in the neighborhood I suggested it for dinner with my friend. Service: our server was new and seemed very nice. They were pretty attentive and I'm sure will get much more comfortable soon. Totally solid service, no complaints. Vibes/decor/space: crowded and kind of chaotic. It's a cute space overall but a bit over packed (the plants and stuff in the middle of the room doesn't help). We felt way too close to the tables near us. Definitely not the spot for an intimate date or private conversation. Drinks: the drinks fine, and we both liked the bourbon cocktail. They were definitely strong and on the small side though. Mine was served in a coupe and if I'm being generous, half full. Food: oof. This was a disappointment. The steak and frites were solid, in that the steak was delicious and perfectly cooked. For a $38 entree of this type though, it was not a lot of meat. Had everything else been great I probably wouldn't have noticed. The spinach artichoke dip came with an almost hilarious amount of bread. It was 90% spinach. It just wasn't very good. The campfire greens were the most disappointing. The seasoning was odd, the puree was way too salty, and the veggies were totally overpowered by the char. I love charred veggies but these were maybe overly done or a smoke seasoning was used? I'm not sure. It wasn't good and we didn't eat most of it. There are tons of amazing spots for dinner nearby that are a similar or lower price point for a much more satisfying meal. I'm sorry to not be more excited about my experience here but I just can't recommend it. I don't expect to give it another go but if the menu changes substantially I might.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service and even better food.
Loved every single thing we ordered and all the vegetarian options! The Mott Burger with jackfruit was THE BEST "veggie burger" I've ever had.
Be the first to ReplyI met a friend here for brunch on a Saturday.
I experienced the loveliest moments in Logan Square, ones that are SO specific to a rare 80°F weekend in Chicago, in April. Everyone in the entire city was out and about enjoying the sunshine. We had a reservation for early afternoon and moseyed our way to Logan Square. I arrived a little earlier by car so that I could stroll around the neighborhood; my friend was en route by bike. I wandered around Logan Square park, observed happy, quiet gardeners tending to their yards along the boulevard. I stopped by the local bookstore. Everyone, including the people, trees, plants, babies in strollers, dogs, seemed to be smiling. I'm telling you it was the perfect day. What we ordered: Cider donuts (shared as an app) Misoyako Eggplant Tartine Frites (shared) Classic BEC (bacon, egg, and cheese sando, not pictured) Herbaceous spritz Having been to Mott St (the sister restaurant in Wicker) and also having tried their burger at Mini Mott before (the owners transformed the space to become Second Generation), I already knew I would love the flavors and could not go wrong with ordering anything on their menu. The Misoyaki Eggplant Tartine is a vegetarian option, and is served as an open faced sandwich with an onsen egg, oyster mushrooms, miso, and butter on two crusty slices of bread. This was delicious as an entrée but would also be perfect as an appetizer for two. It was thoughtfully pre-sliced. The food was amazing, I give this place 4 stars. I haven't had the chance to have dinner here yet but based on how much I loved brunch, would love their dinner menu even more. Cheers to AAPI-owner places in Chicago that pour their heart, soul, and culinary creativity into restaurants like Second Generation. I can't wait to come back.

I think for those expecting Mini Mott you will be disappointed. I think for those willing to look at this with a new lens as a new venture this is a solid addition to a romantic date spot in Logan Square. It is up there in price but they are trying to compete with likes of Andros Taverna in the area which isn't a slouch in pricing either. We ordered the Octopus, Katsu, Fries, and the Campfire Greens. Like others have said the Octopus is great. Katsu also was outstanding.
Be the first to ReplyReally wanted to like this place, but the negative reviews
Really wanted to like this place, but the negative reviews here are right. Cute atmosphere, great staff... but far overpriced for the quality of the food. $200 for 2 people, but every single dish was a B-. Including the desserts. Too many far better places at this price point.
Be the first to ReplyWe were told to order 2-3 plates per person.
Do not do this! We got 5 between the two of us and felt like Bruce Bogtrotter from Matilda. If I could do it again, I think I'd only order three. Get the "lobster" Mac and Cheese.
Be the first to ReplyA little pricey, which wouldn't be a big deal but the food
A little pricey, which wouldn't be a big deal but the food just isn't quite up to the task. As a table of 2 we had the Campfire Greens, Eggplant, Artichoke dip, "Lobster" Mac N Cheese, and Steak Frites. Service was overall excellent but they recommended 2-3 plates per person which you definitely won't need. You'll be fine with 1-2 plates depending on what you order. Drinks were good, the "Lobster" Mac (in quotes because it's actually shrimp. The menu makes that clear) was amazing, but many parts of the meal were only just fine. Particularly egregious is that the fries that come with the steak frites are genuinely very bad. They were totally plain in flavor and barely crispy. The steak itself was nice but they need to do better for $38. I had a good time but tbh there are just too many excellent restaurants for less money for me to consider this one again in the near future.
Be the first to ReplyI just want to give them a shout out.
Their burger is one of the best in the city. The burger is cooked to perfection and the sauce they put on the bun is one of the best and in some magical way the bun is not even soggy. It is an Asian inspired burger. The spinach dip is great too. Definitely would recommend.
Be the first to ReplyKalbi steak and eggs.
Super flavorful. Heirloom grains salad was colorful and filling. The service was above average. The ambience is well done.
Be the first to ReplyI generally don't know how I feel about this place.
Ambiance-wise, it was great. I love the colors, the lighting, aesthetics, everything. The food was very much a hit or miss. I'd say the same for the drinks too and that was a general consensus at our table for 4. We did like the Misoyaki eggplant the most and secondly the Katsu Chicken, but I'd say definitely skip on the fries that come with the sauce. The sauce literally had no flavor whatsoever. Everyone at our table agreed. We thought the fries themselves were good but lowkey wish it came with Ketchup instead LOL. That was a disappointment. I thought the midnight pasta was just okay. I'd say the service was quite a rollercoaster. Our server from the beginning started off really nice. She stated from the beginning that they recommend you order two plates per person. While our table wasn't necessarily the most hungry in that moment, we ordered what we all liked and agreed upon and felt that the 5 plates were good for us. When we told the server what we wanted, she said "so you're missing 3 plates". We thought that was odd. We told her that we were good with what we ordered and if we wanted anymore we would order more. It felt like the energy shifted after this and then when our drinks came out it felt like she set the drinks down on our table pretty roughly. We all looked at each other like.... Yooo what is up with this negative energy?? It was just odd, but towards the end she was nicer so I'm not sure. I will note that we piece of our eggplant dish fell on the floor when one of us in our party was trying to cut a piece and it flew off. Another server and/or food runner saw it and quickly came by to say he'll see what he can do to replace that for us! Pretty shortly after he came with this mini plate that was quite bigger than the piece that fell of a fresh eggplant dish! Sooo nice of him! Overall, I don't know if I'd necessarily come out of my way to go here. For the prices, you'd really hope you'd get more bang for your buck, but definitely not here. I don't think the taste of all the food also warrants the high prices. I'll definitely have to try Mott St though for their burger and wings.

A little skeptical of the place going in as there are a lot of mixed reviews but it was a decent experience. Came with a friend on a weeknight and it was a little busy. Our server recommended 2 plates a person but honestly 1 plate per person and a side to share was plenty. Got the Ginger Beer, Katsu Chicken and the Frites-skinny fries. Ginger beer was refreshing, and the fries were kinda skimpy but pretty standard. The Katsu Chicken had an ~interesting~ flavor - had a ketchup-like sauce and a little coleslaw situation going on top of it, but the chicken itself had a good crisp. It wasn't terrible but I'm not sure if I would order it again. Had a bite of my friends Mott Burger which was really good but you can grab the OG at Mott Street. Overall the meal was fine. I think what stood out to me the most was the cute ambiance, but the food felt average.
Be the first to ReplyWas pretty good.
Was a huge fan of their burger spot and was sad that it left. They replaced it with something completely different...leaving a gap in quality burger joints in Logan. Food was good, but a bit overpriced for what it is. Great service and fantastic bartenders. I think combine this with a burger window for pickup would be the ultimate. I'd go back, but probably not all that often.

Like others have said , this place has a lot of potential but definitely isn't living up to it. It's a sit down restaurant price with counter service Vince First off, the seating is incredibly uncomfortable, making it challenging to enjoy the overall experience and the restaurant was out of 2 of the drink options I tried to order (not a big deal but definitely a bummer). The staff was friendly but it is off putting to walk in and immediately be told you have an hour and 30 minutes and then need to leave. The food is fairly pricey for the portion (we ordered 4 dishes for 2 people and left feeling comfortable), but overall good. The highlight was the steak frites and the octopus. Taste preference wise I could have definitely done without the midnight pasta dish.

A new small cozy restaurant in Logan square with an Asian fusion and influenced menu. They have a full service bar with great balanced drinks and bar seating where you can watch the food being put together. We ordered a spicy margarita which had homemade hot simple syrup which we learned from the friendly bartender. We enjoyed some very crispy and delicious wings followed by a plate of charred veggies along with a light and fluffy hummus. This was a very enjoyable meal with great ambiance and very friendly staff. Great for a small group or date night. I'd also recommend a reservation unless you are ok with the bar seating which was also fun.
Be the first to ReplyCame with three friends and felt like we had to fight over
Came with three friends and felt like we had to fight over scraps for the entire meal. The food was fine, but I somehow left hungry after spending close to $100 each. So, the food was passable, but waaaay overpriced with very small portions. Oh, and the server had never heard of a shellfish allergy, and thought that it might apply to all fish, which made ordering odd. Ultimately an underwhelming experience. It doesn't help that we LOVED Mini Mott, and this is what took its place. MM had the best burger in town, Second Gen jacked up the price and added more beef, which it absolutely did not need.

this place was very very good and much much better than some of the reviews might suggest 1. Yes the place is a small, but it's no different than many many neighborhood restaurants in the city. We never once felt crowded. 2. The staff were all amazing and very welcoming. Yes, there was a bit of time between each course but we had four courses and were out within just over an hour. The staff routinely checked on us throughout the meal; our server was super friendly and accommodating. Just all around good vibes. 3. 3/4 courses we had were outstanding (apple plum salad, midnight pasta, and ancient grains). We also had the rabbit- which was good, but TBH we were already stuffed after the previous 3 courses 4. Cocktail selection was more limited - but the wine was out of sight. They also accommodated my fiancé with several "mock tails" that were not on the menuSeriously, don't sleep on this place! We will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyCute little spot with good atmosphere.
Our server was just the right amount of attentive and offered recommendations. I had the classic breakfast sandwich and it was one of the better ones I've had. The coffee with salted whipped topping was great (server recommendation).
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food! A great addition to the neighborhood.
We got the steak frites, octopus and midnight pasta. All so flavorful. We will definitely be back!
