San Sabino New York Reviews from The Last Year
What a unique and amazing restaurant.
Got the privilege of dining here on this lovely monday. Alex greeted us at the front professionally, even though we went early, and got us drinks + water to start off. Upon seating, there are ~50 seats inside the restaurant total. Still plenty of space between seats, so it wasn't overly tight. The bar was bustling, and drinks were flowing. Tina, our server, was excellent. Went through the full menu with us and we ended up ordering pretty much the whole menu. Cocktails were absolutely delicious and strong - the mambo italiano was delicious passion fruit - sanzese spritz was very refreshing and well balanced - via gia was extremely well poured - linguini western was super strong and tasted unique - sabinooch had grape fruit and packed a punch Apps: - normally I don't eat oysters, but the flavor was really good - cheese frittelle was like a fried wonton, not overly cheesy, but hot and honey dripping - spicy tuna with the rice balls were perfectly sauced and crisp; favorite of the apps - crab mortadella dip - the crackers were extremely unique and the jam added a lot of flavor - busiate & clams - they were a bit crunchy and a bit salty; least favorite of the apps but would still try again Entrees: - meatball spiedini - melts in your mouth, definitely worth getting - shrimp parm - unique twist on parm with shrimp; at first you think it's chicken, but it's not - broccolini - great seasoning, cooked well - lobster triangoli - addicting pasta, must get - farfalle - delicious Desserts: - gelato viennese - unique use of gelato; thought the nuts were delicious, the caramel was a good mix, and the chocolate blended really well - crespelle - looked a bit like rice cake; the crispy portion had excellent crisp and sugar Of the 2 desserts, I would pick the gelato, as it packed more of a punch. Overall, excellent staff, great drinks, beautiful aura, and a very well paced dinner. Great venue for dates, friends, family, or a darn good meal. Would list as top 3 venues in NYC for sure and excited for others to try this.

Being a huge fan of Don Angie, I was very excited to explore their new restaurant (after many days of trying for reservations when they release at 9 AM). Starting from what I loved, the stuffed farfalle was amazing, being flavorful and salty in exactly the right way. The foam of course is a fun touch. Next, the stuffed mussels were wonderful, each being adorned with a neat crescent of sauce. The potato crocchette were also great, with a nice texture and creamy flavor. Some other items I tried were still well-made but didn't hit the high bar I've come to expect from its neighboring Don Angie. These items would still be great for someone with different taste preferences, all evidently being prepared with skill and intention. The shrimp parm looks beautiful, with three large shrimp heads poking out of the sauce in which their unpeeled bodies stew, covered by little blankets of cheese. Unfortunately, the sweet and sour sauce didn't have as much complexity as I'd hoped and was too sweet for my tastes. However I could imagine myself loving this with another sauce. The salmon was large with a deliciously flavorful skin but felt a bit undercooked for my preferences. The manicottini had plenty of meat but was overall too salty in my opinion. And lastly, the meatball spiedini was alright but didn't taste as meaty as I'd hoped. Overall, San Sabino generally delivered on my high expectations set by Don Angie. The dishes I enjoyed were top of their class and I'd gladly come back again for more. As for the others, they're still evidently well-crafted and creative, though they don't match my tastes as much -- perhaps they'll match yours. For me, I'd probably go to Don Angie again instead if given the choice.

This is the perfect spot for a refreshing meal during these summer months! It's focused on seafood with bright, sweet, and savory flavors. We ordered 7 dishes total plus dessert between 2 of us and it ended up being more than enough food, but we really wanted to try it all. Everything was delicious, although our favorites were the small plates, so make sure you order a bunch of those! It's a smallish yet stylish and lively space. Service was top notch. My partner and I happened to be celebrating our anniversary, so they congratulated us and even gave us complimentary drinks - before and after our meal, which was a very nice touch. I'd definitely recommend booking that reservation asap!

Lucked out with a Friday primetime reservation and had an amazing dinner here. It's a perfect sequel to Don Angie - and they are potentially doing more interesting things... it might be that I'm a little tired of DA, which is one of my fave spots, but I've been 5+ times and they don't change their menu much. So, yeah, I like this spot even more at the moment. My boyfriend and I tried: + Octopus carpaccio - gorgeous and delicious. The potato puree thing was sooo good + Cheesy fritelle - perfect, basically fried dough filled with cheese and honey + Spicy tuna - highlight #1. Incredible, the arancini were so chewy. Get this + Insalata Louie - great twist on a traditional wedge... the bacon bits were so good + Crab stuffed farfalle - highlight #2. Super rich, but great to share and the tiny rice crackers (usually found on sushi) added a beautiful crunch. I want this right now + Steak magazzino - also incredible - and surprising!!! Was not expecting katsu vibes + Belmar special cocktail - excellent, like an espresso martini over crushed ice + Mambo Italiano cocktail - perfect, had passionfruit mojito vibes (and not too heavy on the soda) They also brought us a complimentary fennel salad toast which was really good and went well with the octopus. Service was overall fantastic. I want to return immediately. We didn't make it to dessert, so will definitely need to come back and try them all!
Fantastic meal, service, and vibe.
Will definitely return! Loved the shrimp parm, a great salad, lobster ravioli, and halibut.
Beautiful
Not easy to find. It is the only church in the old town to have a bell tower. The present church was rebuilt in 1178 after the destruction of the city at the hands of the Norman King William the Wicked of Sicily in 1156. There are some wall paintings. There is also a white ciborium from the 13th century and a brightly clothed statue. The façade has a rose window. At 5pm on 21st June the sun shines through the tracery of the window directly onto a marble rose mosaic on the floor inside the cathedral. The crypt’s ceiling and pillars were painted in gold, and it contains relics of St Sabinus and a 1999 terracotta nativity scene
One of the best experiences I've had in NY.
Incredible food, the nicest staff, great ambience. They sat us ~30 minutes after our slotted time and could not have been more apologetic, communicative, generous. Truly made our friend's birthday and we have all been raving about it since last night. 10/10- the steak is a must.
I loved San Sabino so much.
Somehow I secured a reservation for 5PM on the 4th of July and it was well worth it, schlepping into the city on a holiday in the heat and humidity. In fact, I would do it again. My friend and I had bar seat reservations, I think this is fine if you're not placed at the curve of the bar. The bartenders couldn't really pass the food to me and I was sat at a weird angle. Other than that, the bartenders were super friendly and were incredibly helpful in deciding which dishes to order. The restaurant has a 70s, not quite neon, vibe. It is very pretty on inside and a departure from Don Angie. The glassware and china were also dope. I started with the Scottie's Martini [$19] which definitely packed a punch of flavor and spice. I loved it. It really tasted like spicy garlic bread or a sour pickle and the garnishing olives were stuffed with cheese! I noticed that a lot of the dishes were heavy on the spice / heat but not in an overpowering way, it was just enough to keep you on your toes. My friend and I ordered a variety of small plates, two pastas, and two desserts. I was actually pretty full by the end. We had the Octopus Carpaccio [$22] which was lovely. You really couldn't tell that it was octopus. The sauce on the bottom was creamy and delicious. It also comes with grilled bread which was also great. The Insalata Louie [$21] was a fun iceberg lettuce salad with shrimp and avocado. It was tasty. The Crab and Mortadella Dip was good, but I just haven't accepted that I'm not really a fan of seafood and fish in dips. I think there could be more mortadella, I did like that it was served on ritz crackers. And big fan of the relish served on the side. Honestly, my two favorite dishes of the night, aside from dessert, were the Stuffed Farfalle [$32] and the Manicottini della Casa [$29]. They were so different from each other but SO good in their own way. The Farfalle was dotted with tobiko and filled with crab, you get that wonderful briny flavor with the creamy smoothness of the filling and pasta. Then the Manicottini was basically manicotti in tubular form with small meatballs on the side. I loved that the pasta was filled with cheese which oozed out. SO GOOD. For dessert, we had the coconut panna cotta [$12] and the gelato viennese [$14] . The panna cotta which was topped with toasted sweet coconut flakes. On the bottom was pistachio and other bits and bobs. My friend didn't like it, but I definitely did. It was definitely a large portion. The gelato was incredible, such an assortment of flavors- chocolate, espresso, caramel, hazelnut, but all in ice cream form. Wowza. We also had a glass of the moscato d'asti each [$15]. Just writing this review makes me want to come back ASAP. I paid $138 after tax and tip, splitting the check.
Really creative dishes and cocktails plus a great wine list.
Showed up at 530 and only had a 20 min wait for 1 at the bar. Highly recommend the Octopus and chili crab pasta.
We loved almost everything about San Sabino.
I was worried bringing our 10 month old, but they couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. We came with a group of 7 and shared a lot of the menu. The standout starters were the spicy tuna with broken arancini, octopus carpaccio, mussels, crab mortadella dip and fritelle. Our favorite from the pastas were the vongole and stuffed farfalla. None of us loved the fried steak unfortunately, but the salmon was delicious. Highly recommend ending with their hazelnut cake and gelato.
Ever since I heard about this restaurant opening, I've been
Ever since I heard about this restaurant opening, I've been dying to try it and finally got a chance to. And in my opinion, it was just decent. I tried the spicy tuna, which was actually pretty spicy. It definitely was spicier than sushi spicy tuna. I also tried the cheesy frittelle, which was my favorite dish! It's so simple, yet so tasty. For my mains, I did the stuffed farfalle, which was also a favorite. It was super rich and decadent! I also tried the lobster triangoli, which was good. It could have used a little bit more lobster flavor, but it was very creamy. I also tried the shrimp parm, and this was my least favorite dish. The shrimp is actually prawns, and it just had a very meatier muskie taste than I was expecting, especially as you get closer to the head part. I don't know how to describe it. Finally, for dessert, I got the gelatto viennes, and that was pretty good. So while it wasn't a bad meal by any measure don't think it's worth a repeat, which is sad because I love don angie and would repeat that any day of the week.
Amazing.
Loved this new spot by Don Angie! Very cozy and the interior is very similar. The pastas are all very unique (think along the lines of DA's Carmelli) and shrimp parm was delicious although I didn't realize it would be on top of chicken. Highly recommend if you like Italian American food and would say quality and caliber of service is on par with Don Angie.
no hate to the restaurant group.
.. don angie is one of the best restaurants in nyc so I was v excited to try here, but the food made me & my bf both sick. something about the fish did NOT taste right. maybe we just went on a bad night, the atmosphere was cute, great service, & I know other ppl have had a fab experience here so idk. but very disappointed and would recommend spending ur $ at don angie instead.
Food was amazing! The lobster pasta and the shrimp parm
Food was amazing! The lobster pasta and the shrimp parm were the standouts but also try the cheesy fritelle (their version of bread service with cheese and honey). Drinks - they have a drink called the Benny after the restaurant that was here before! The Belmar special - an espresso highball was really good as well. Service was very kind. Thanks Monty!! Bar seating - this is minor but would've loved hooks under the bar area.

Me and my family definitely love this new restaurant in the area, we have a great time last night, costumer service was great, the food was delicious and the ambiance is awesome!
Another must!
Cattedrale di San Sabino is just another must to see and check out. It was built in a Romanesque style and it was so beautiful. The surrounding area was also awesome.
Nice Romanesque Cathedral
Along with St. Nichola's Basilica this Cathedral is not to be missed when exploring old town Bari. Likewise, it's built in Romanesque style but with a taller bell tower which can be seen from everywhere.

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

When it says working on bid, it means there are people looking to fill it.
