Salt & Time Butcher Shop and Restaurant Austin Reviews from The Last Year
Sad to hear a staple was closing, we went one day before
Sad to hear a staple was closing, we went one day before their closing to try it out. Clearly they were already closed in their head... First I had heard about a $20 happy hour steak, nope not a thing. Wine and cocktails were half of but both red wines were bad and my husband was undrinkable he had so much sediment but they didn't do anything about it when we pointed it out. The steak and frites was good ($32 for the flank) and the burger was overcooked but good (+$1 for cheese, really? When it's already $22). Anyway, everything was overpriced and now I understand why they are closing.
Came in wanting to try this place before they close down.
I've heard that their steaks and burgers are top notch since it's straight from the source so I wanted to try. We didn't have a reservation but got seated easily at one of the tables on a weeknight. Our waiter was super super nice and the inside was very modern for a butcher. We ordered drinks and I loved the lemonade I got However, when it came to the main dish, unfortunately I believe they had a bit of an off night. My burger bun was a bit burnt and a little stale, so it took away from the delight of the burger overall. The fries were VERY good though - 10/10. My friend got the bolognese and said it was okay but needed a little more spice / flavor. Sad to hear that Salt and Time will be going away, but also glad to hear the team has given their praises to the next restaurant coming in on their heels.
Came here for my boyfriend's birthday and thoroughly
Came here for my boyfriend's birthday and thoroughly enjoyed our meal! The standouts were the mains. He got the ribeye and I got the filet mignon. Both were cooked medium rare and tasted amazing! We also got the beef fat fries and OH MY GOD these might be the BEST fries in austin. The ketchup tasted homemade and was really good as well. We also shared the root vegetables which came in a really delicious strawberry sauce. I'd say skip the sourduck bread and butter. I wasn't a fan of how thin and small the bread pieces were, although the butter was delicious. Will definitely be coming back here for seconds! My bf wants to try the burger next time.
Damn their cold old fashion is worth stopping by.
Had thier burger and it was really good too!
The food is so good! The service is fast.
The ambiance is causal while the food seems like I should be in formal wear.
I really like this restaurant, stopped there for brunch
I really like this restaurant, stopped there for brunch today and had their Cajun Benedict, which was outstanding! Really a great location with easy parking in East Austin. Menu can be a little pricey, but great quality, and they do charge a service fee, added to your check which I was very surprised
Bad burger and bad service.
Tried the burger after reading a review that it was one of the best. The burger was dry and overdone with a tiny patty and huge bun. Bad lettuce and the fries were cooked in old oil. We were quoted the happy hour price and then charged full price. After the waitress misquoted the price and wouldn't honor what she said, she auto charged a tip. Do not recommend.
10/10! Get the Brunch Burger.
It's massive and high quality. Emily the server was very thoughtful and kind. Would come back! Good vibe too!
Total ripoff! Smallest portions of my life, ask before you
Total ripoff! Smallest portions of my life, ask before you order! service was good tho
They advertise as welcoming of pets, but they just take
They advertise as welcoming of pets, but they just take service animals. False advertising. (Take out) Food is okay.
Parking is terrible and food mediocre
We had lunch with a large group. Parking was a nightmare! I thought it may be ok for our group to have a quick lunch on a Wednesday, but finding parking took over 30 minutes. The manager and staff were not happy that we showed up with no reservation. We were willing to wait for a table. One of the waitress (wearing spandex running shorts) was rude. I would give her 1 star. There is a nice large full bar. They have a butcher shop. They have couple communal tables which is nice. They turned over a table quickly for us. Our waitress was great. She said they are known for their burgers. She also recommended the ham sandwich and steak. She also recommended the fries. I got the ham sandwich with fries. Our group ordered steak, steak salad, burger, charcuterie with cheese, queso and another appetizer. The charcuterie had beef liver and duck confit. It was my favorite dish. I was disappointed with the rest of the dishes. It lacked flavor. I’m not a chef but it needs special sauces/condiments to make it taste better. The bun to meat ratio is off. Too much bun. I would not return due to parking and the food.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.

Reservations could be posted for a variety of reasons. Most likely, the person who secured the reservation can no longer attend - to avoid accruing a "no show" fee, they can find someone to take their place.
