Fine dining in Indy.
There were 4 of us and we all really enjoyed our meals. I had the salmon with braised Brussel sprout, a salad wedge, and key lime pie. My wife had the grouper with scallops. It was a nice meal with good ambiance, and goof family. Our waiter was Brandon. He was an excellent waiter, very personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. Definitely a go-back-to restaurant in downtown Indy

We came here for a special occasion and let me tell you, it was PERFECT! The food was extremely delicious, the vibe was relaxed/ romantic, and the server was outstanding! It definitely is on the list for date nights.

Food was bland and not seasoned. Had Shrimp and Grits and the only thing I could taste was the dry bread crumbs. Husband had the 3 course salmon meal. Salad came with our entrees and the he waited at least 15 minutes to get his entree. Very sad and disappointed in our visit.

Wonderful attentive wait and service staff, great main course, great dessert. Really nice evening until the end. The main course portion for my wife was more than she could eat. So, she requested a to-go container for the remainder of her salmon along with a little more of the citrus chili sauce that she really enjoyed. I would have thought that to be a nod and compliment to the chef. I guess that compliment came at a price. $2 for about a tablespoon which the waiter said he requested be complimentary, but then he was required to go back and adjust the tab. $2 is nothing, but it just seemed to be a waste of time, we somehow felt insulted by the pettiness, and seemed to be bad judgement by the manager. Excellent fell to average because of it.

My wife and I came here before the “straight no chaser” concert and I have been guilty for not reviewing since. I had never truly been excited to go to this restaurant but a friend recommended and I needed somewhere close to the concert. Honestly I cant believe I hadn’t been before, the food was great and very creative, my wife loved the sea food selection and was impressed at how well done it was. Good sea food is rare in Indianapolis but it tasted very fresh and was excellently prepared. I got my steak and thought it was cooked to perfection. Cocktail list was creative and our server sold us on the specials and then gave us variations on it which truly impressed us. The ambiance was really enjoyable and it was a great date night dinner.

We had a wonderful dinner at Salt. We'd made and cancelled reservations here multiple times for covid and weather and everything else, and finally got to go! We're just sad it took us this long - it was excellent! We started with the rock shrimp which were excellent tiny little fried shrimp in a spicy sauce. The serving is plenty for sharing. Our fabulous waitress, Audrey, offered up the skillet bread which we hadn't planned to order, but she said it was worth it and she was right - delicious by itself, but with the butter, fantastic! We also shared a Caesar salad. This was the only thing we wouldn't order again. It was good, but nothing near as special as the rest of of the meal. Entrees were the scallops in the chili sauce with the cauliflower - everything cooked perfectly with such unique flavors - and the crusted sea bass with the lemon butter sauce and the risotto - absolutely excellent and will be ordered again and again! We finished the meal with the opera and humming bird cakes - we took most of them home, but they were just as good as the rest. We can't wait to come back!

My brother and I went for dinner. Glad for reservations online. Beautiful restaurant with big glass windows. Feel the TVs with news and sports didn't fit the classiness of the restaurant at all and distracted from the ambience. Our waitress (who I regretably forgot her name-pretty, long dark hair, Asian) was amazing and so good at recommendations and very attentive! She noticed I was removing layers from being warm and asked owner to turn down heat which I did feel get a little cooler during visit and much appreciated. Ordered the lobster bisque which I loved and would recommend. Caesar salad was fine. I ordered the parmesam Chilean sea bass and lemon butter sauce with mashed potatoes. Bass was spot on! Flaked perfectly. My brother took our waitress' recommendation and ordered the special, three tailed grouper blackened with mango salsa and chili honey sauce and parmesan risotto. Again, fish was cooked perfectly and not too heavy on the blackened seasoning that you could still taste the fish and the sauce paired very well. I could eat a whole bowl of the risotto easily. Also got garlic brocclini which could have used a little more garlic, but tasted so good dipped in the lemon butter! The key lime chiffon cheesecake was small, but made a delicious statement and I'd highly recommend. Our cocktails (salt sunset & ol' fashion) were also good, stronger, but didn't take over other flavors. I do wish they had brandy for the old fashioned too. Overall wonderful experience. Would go back for sure!

I cannot speak more highly of this place. I attended for a business dinner last week (coming from out of state, across the country) and they accommodated 18 people in their private room. The process of booking the room was extremely easy and they were very communicative throughout the process. The owner’s wife, Haley, was helpful, pleasant and kind. She helped me organize everything and suggested appetizers ahead of time. We arrived 45 minutes early for dinner and they immediately brought us to the private room and started serving drinks. Our server, Dory, was an absolute gem. She managed serving 18 people with professionalism, grace and charisma. She was super efficient and was always present, checking on everyone constantly. She was the epitome of an excellent server. Our food and drinks were absolutely delicious— top notch quality and worth every penny. Everyone raved. After our 3 hour dinner, the restaurant was closing and the owner allowed us to stay and have more cocktails which was the icing on the cake so that we did not have to hunt down another place. If I lived in Indiana, I would come back again and again. Thank you to everyone at Salt on Mass who made our night go so well.

Visited Salt recently with some friends and was definitely impressed. Our server Kayla was awesome. She was helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, professional, fun.. all of that! We had a great time. The seafood here is phenomenal, I ordered the Snapper with Lobster Oscar and it did not disappoint. Everything was so fresh and prepared perfectly. Nice liquor selection too! This place is a whole vibe!
Be the first to ReplyGreat seafood - otherwise wouldn’t do
Really disappointed tonight. The seafood special was fabulous. The lamb lollipops “with signature house sauce” were SMOTHERED in pesto. Who uses heavy pesto without calling it out, specifically, on the menu? And the pesto wasn’t only on the lamb, it was all over the potatoes. On a $38 entree, shouldn’t you be specific about things like this? Our wait staff was fabulous, and they are clearly not accountable for anything. They tried to remedy our discontent, and the manager offered desserts for the table. Dessert doesn’t remedy a $38 entree. The manager never approached our table, even though the restaurant was only about 1/3 full and we ordered one of the most expensive wines on the list Just really disappointed, and it could have very easily been a much better experience if the manager paid any attention at all. Bummer as we’ve had good experiences here on prior visits.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service, meh food.
Terrible service. Took nearly 45 min just to get the cocktails we ordered. Food was either under or over salted. One friend ordered mahi. It was a small dried up sliver of shoe leather. Even the mgr said it was poorly executed. Nothing was very good and the prices are quite high.
