Afternoon tea with friends
We went for the afternoon tea to celebrate 2 birthdays on our group of 4. We had the best time. All of the food was exceptional - and we left barely able to breathe! I had a dietary requirement - and it was really well met. The experience was made by Gabriella from Argentina. She was amazing from start to finish. The service was impeccable and her really friendly manner was unmatched. She spoke to us for a long time and really made our experience special. Favourite part had to be the pastries. Wow! Every flavour was distinguishable and all the care and detail in the world was out into it. It cost around 500AED per person. We left feeling as though we had got a bargain. Thank you to all staff, but Gabriella in particular for making this day really special.
Be the first to ReplyMarisol is the best waitress ever
My husband and I went to have dinner. I recommend the place eyes closed. Food is delicious and view is exceptional. Marisol helped me out to check the menu, made wonderful recommendations and expedited the service because we arrived 15 minutes before kitchen closed and even with that we were treated exceptionally great. After we ate we continued talking with Marisol and turned out she was from Mexico, as well as us! We had a great time talking about our country and without expecting it, she gave us a little present that was left from presents the hotel gave for New Year’s party. She is super kind, just by talking to her you can know she is an amazing human being. She made our night a one to remember for ever. Thank you Marisol and staff!

Memorable experience. This hotel is in a league of its own. Most friendly and accommodating staff I have ever experienced. Great food and drinks. Lovely atmosphere, and we were lucky enough to be there when an incredible singer was present, her name was Darina Ivanova and her voice is as incredible as the hotel itself. I would certainly visit again when in next in Dubai. Must visit place that is very special. Try the calamari and the gold cappuccino!

The most spectacular afternoon tea experience! The service was outstanding, food plentiful and flavorful, and the setting was stunning. I could not ask for a better service and will definitely visit again. Favorites included the scones, hazelnut spread, and Peach Bellini mocktail. Be sure to have a reservation, as you will be asked to provide these details before you are allowed to proceed to the hotel grounds.

What can I say.....the icing on the cake. All too perfect. Fabulous place, friendliness and kindness of the staff impeccable. Lunch with attention to the smallest details. I've wanted to try it for a long time and I must say that I was blown away!!!!
Be the first to ReplyLacking in personalised service with cold and clinical staff
Let me preface this by saying we've been to the Burj Al Arab a number of times over the years since first visiting Dubai in 2004. Unfortunately after this time we will not be back. Staff were cold, clinical and barely attentive with minimal levels of service. We felt like we were on a conveyor belt with no time to savour the experience (or even a care from the staff as to whether we enjoyed it or not). Unlike the usual Jumeirah focus on kids, ours were competely ignored. Whilst this might not be a specifically kid friendly hotel, the superiority complex of staff was palpable throughout the experience. Basic levels of service were missing; there was no warm welcome or personalised service, or any check to ensure that the food and drinks were ok. The minimum spend requirement was made to be a predominant feature of the experience which left a bitter taste in the mouth, despite pretty (albeit, to be expected, pricey) and tasty food. People know they are going to pay top dollar amounts when visiting this hotel, it doesn't need to be the overarching focus and guests shouldn't be made to feel like they are an inconvenience. Either wholeheartedly embrace visitors and make us feel welcome, or restrict access altogether. This certainly wasn't a 7 star experience for us and definitely not reflective of our previous visits. The saviour of the whole event for us was the lady guarding the lifts to the sky bar, who realised that we were guests of another Jumeirah hotel and kindly offered to let us wonder around to explore the view from the top and the pool area. Thank you for brightening up an otherwise miserable experience.

Entry into the Burj Al Arab set us up for an unforgettable experience with our afternoon tea at Sahn Eddar. Every dish we were served was a masterpiece, from the delicious sandwiches to the exquisite desserts. The presentations were so beautiful that it was almost worth eating them. Eduardo, with his attentive service, enhanced the experience, presenting each dish and describing its ingredients with passion. It was a feast for both the eyes and the palate. A culinary experience not to be missed!

This was a beautiful tea experience! The atmosphere was elegant and included live piano music. Eduardo provided us with impeccable service and the food was plentiful. There was a wide selection of teas to chose from and a nice assortment of sandwiches and sweets. Definitely perfect for a special occasion.

Came as a special treat for my husband’s 60th Birthday 🥳. We were treated like royalty from when we arrived until we left. Everyone was so nice, helpful and informative with every course we received. The new menu is absolutely delicious and very filling. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough.

Definitely one of the best afternoon teas ever! We really wanted to experience this hotel and we’re not disappointed! The views as you can imagine were beautiful and the staff all very helpful and welcoming. Each one had a smile and friendly approach. We were encouraged to go and have a look around the building which obviously was amazing! The whole building was perfect! Lots of lovely details amazing to see including the huge aquarium on the staircase!
Be the first to Reply"7 - 5 star" experience in Burj Al Arab
1. Setting - It is what it is based on the photos. - main reason why we booked 2. Service - We waited about 10-15mins to get a table even with a reservation. - Food order took long time to get delivered. - Waiters not friendly, keep on reminding us that there is a minimum spend. - We felt due to our race we were discriminated - Waiter informed us that they were short of latte glass/mugs, and asked us if we can accept a different and smaller cup for the 4th one!?!! imagine?? a "7" star hotel is out of latte mugs?!?!! funny!🤪💁🏻 ♀️ - Manager does not bother, when we had a bit of misunderstanding with the waiter and through the whole dining did not bother to look at us but went to every other table!🤪 Only said something non helpful when we were about to leave. 3. Food - Not enough latte glass/mugs - Serving size is ok - Salad, sandwiches taste ok - Coffee were cold, asked for hot water, given lukewarm. (When we complained they changed it for us) - Sweets from the trolly were not good, definitely not worth the price and location! Summary of our experience: - We booked a table for ala carte. We are a family of six. Five adult and a 3 year old. We already know that if you book ala carte, there will be a minimum spend of 200aed per person. When we ask for our bill, they did not show us the bill and directly informed us that we need to pay 1,200. We did pay the amount. Then when we asked for the receipt, they just gave us the credit card receipt and not the copy from the restaurant, so that's the time we asked the waiter to show us the actual bill. When we got the bill, it showed that our actual food order was a total of 1,000aed and they charged an additional 200aed open menu. We asked why, and the waiter said becauase we are a group of 6 people. But then we told him that the 6th person is a 3y/o, how would a 3 y/o consume a 200aed worth of food?! Then the waiter insisted that because in their cover number/reservation indicated 6 so we need to pay for 6, but we informed him that it would be unfair since we informed in our reservation that the 6th person would be a child. He then changed tactics and said that we can take more sweets for take-away but we did not agree and insisted that it is unfair to charge us for something we did not consume nor force us to order more even if we don't want to. After few minutes of discussion he then agredd to void that additional charge. But then again, the damage is done. Was like a cherry to our disappointing experience.

Shan Edgar is a great place unwind in luxury. We went for a lovely dinner and it was delicious. It was our anniversary and they surprised us at the end with gorgeous desserts and roses. A great place for chilling overall.

Amazing afternoon tea, well managed by Alexander. First of all, we really enjoyed the location thanks to the brightness from the windows, the sea view and the colourful hotel’s design. Another excellent point was the service indeed Alexander and his team have been so kind with us and let us live a wonderful experience since we arrived. We decided to go for an afternoon tea full experience: It was an experience and a half. We tasted a perfect match between savoury and pastry items so good in their flavours and beautiful as a presentarions. We also had the opportunity to meet Jacob, the pastry chef, he was super nice with our. We spent such an amazing afternoon, for sure we will be back soon.
Be the first to Reply‘A 24ct experience’
A must do whether it’s for tea lunch or dinner. Consider buying a la cart based on your preferences instead of the afternoon tea standard pastries. The highlight for Us was the 24ct gold cappuccino; needs nothing is everything all on its own. Book in advance as spots fill up quickly. Consider calling directly instead of via travel agencies.

We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Sahn Eddar and we enjoyed every moment starting with the warm welcome and exceptional service throughout our time spent there. The food was great and the desserts delicious. The atmosphere was pleasant with beautiful music from the talented piano player who added charm to the place. Definitely we’ll be back for another great experience. Thank you to all staff who looked after us especially Sergey and Alex.

We had a great time with my friend at Sahn Eddar, the food was amazing, and I must highlight the excellent hospitality of Mr Sergej who was extremely kind and helpful. This industry needs more people like him! Thank you,

Insanely expensive afternoon tea, but it's got to be done!
Was gifted an afternoon tea for 2 at the Burj Al Arab, so was thrilled to visit the hotel for the first time. Sahn Eddar is everything you would expect from somewhere with such a lofty reputation, the service could not be faulted and the attention to detail was exquisite. Felt that any request no matter how odd would be catered for, sampled a few things that we would never ordinarily have tried. Had a table overlooking the causeway and the 'mainland' we were fascinated by all the expensive cars coming and going. Once an hour the helipad on the roof is in use, cant miss it as the hotel is effectively hollow so the sound travels, just an added bit of entertainment. The staff could not have been any more attentive, suggesting drinks that might accompany each part of the afternoon tea and offering more food than we could possibly ever eat. Was my friends birthday, so even when we were fit to burst, a birthday cake arrived too. Tip: we struggled to book online, all the dates we could make were fully booked so had our concierge call instead and found space was available. They require full payment upfront too.
Probably never to be repeated, but so glad we did it.
Lovely service team
Lovely service team and atmosphere. You can never miss coding Burj Al Arab during this season for the beautiful decoration. Great menu selection. The jazz group is a bit too loud for the space
Be the first to ReplyLuxury Lunch at the Burj Al Arab - worth your time and money
Came in for lunch at Sahn Eddar with my wife on a weekday. Made reservations ahead of time online to secure our place. This open area tea/lunch spot sits in the lobby area of the magnificent Burj Arab. Without a doubt one of the most majestic sights to behold of any hotel. It was like being transported to an Arabian Palace.
All the seating was well spaced out. Options for table seating closer to the massive glass windows or various sofas and couches were available to sit at. Was not too crowded on this day.
The staff were all incredibly professional and attentive to our needs. We were seated promptly on arrival.
The menu is deep with plenty of items to choose from for all palates. I highly recommend exploring the tea menu. The taste and presentation was phenomenal. We ordered a few vegetarian dishes to share. The vegan burger was rather average in taste. The french fries were very tasty (although this may be our USA tastebuds speaking). We also had a vege stuff pastry. Reminded me of an English style savory pie but stuffed with soft vegetables. Great item to share.
The finale was the legendary Burj Al Arab Gold Cappuccino served with a Grand Cru Guanaja chocolate Marshmallow on a golden platter. There are a few places that offer the golden cappuccino but the Burj Al Arab does it the best. You feel like royalty when this item is delivered on a golden platter. You immediately visualize the 24K Gold Flakes layered on top of your coffee mug. This was a delicious cup of coffee (I requested some non-dairy milk) and sipping those gold flakes made me feel like a King.
Burj Al Arab is a must see over the top hotel in Dubai. Make it an occasion by stopping by at one of the many restaurants or bars - it will be worth your time.
Absolutely Amazing
I came across from half way across the world, for some apple juice! I arrived at about 21:00 and was greeted very nicely by the staff there. They gave me the apple juice and I was on my way. For the short time I was there, the staff were excellent, in all aspects. They should be very proud of the level of customer satisfaction they achieve. Will always recommend!
Be the first to ReplyAfternoon Tea is WELL worth the asking price
As an American tourist places that offer an afternoon tea experience are always a treat for me. It is for sure something that isn't common at home and something I enjoy while traveling. I'd read about the multiple options for tea at Burj al Arab. As I was going in the not quite post-COVID timing the options were limited to Afternoon Tea at Sahn Eddar, but I'm glad it was done there! I got to have amazing food and tea in a picturesque location in the building with a staff that I wish more places had! I will for sure be back if I'm ever in Dubai again.
