Sage Room Stateline Reviews
Sage Room was on point for us the other night.
The baked lobster, escargot style, was killer. I also had the ribeye, as good as expected. The rest of my table was pleased with their meals too.
Poor service and lack of management accountability
We were really looking forward to dining here, but the experience was disappointing. We made our dinner reservation for 6 diners two months in advance, only to be seated in the library at a coffee table. After asking to be seated at a dining table, only to learn it would be another 1.5 hour wait, we sat at the coffee table for dinner. Service was slow from the start โ nearly 1 hour and 20 minutes for a 5:30 dinner reservation, before we were served. During that time the staff rarely checked in or offered an explanation for the delay. When we were served, our appetizers and entrees were served at the same time. When it did, some dishes were cold while others were missing until we reminded the staff. We purposely made our reservations early in the evening as we were attending a concert at 7pm. Needless to say were late to our concert. We addressed our concerns with the manager on duty, but unfortunately we were disregarded with no real effort to make things right. The poor service, long wait times, and lack of accountability from management make it very difficult to recommend this restaurant. Lisa are you listening???!!!!
Wolf at Vanderpump doesnโt rule!!!
We made a dinner reservation 2 months in advance. When we arrived for our reservation they sat us in the library at a coffee table for dinner. When we asked to be seated at a table they said it would be a 2 hour wait. So we took the lounge table. Then, our appetizer was served 1 hour and 15 minutes later WITH our dinner. When I spoke to the manager regarding our reservation that was booked two months in advance to secure a table for dinner. Not a coffee table. She offered to pay for our late appetizer that came with dinner. When we asked her to find out what went wrong she made little of it and offered to take 1 drink off our tab. There were 6 of us. We had 20 minutes to eat our meal and missed the opening act of our concert as a result. I'd say stay away from Vanderpumps..they don't rule!!

Sage room is a wonderful restaurant on the 19th floor of Caesars Republic hotel. Such a great place with super friendly employees, a prestigious vibe from the top of a property, and overall great experience. We did not eat here however, the employees pointed out their best dishes, spent a ton of time with us promoting their brand and great offerings, and made us feel welcomed the entire time. We had drinks here but we'd be hard pressed to not visit the amazing restaurant the next time we're here.
It's a spectacular view of Lake Tahoe.
The restaurant is nicely decorated. Unfortunately, the food has lost the quality it use to be. The Cesar salad tastes like it was made in the morning and had been sitting in the refrigerator and then I had to ask for anchovies. The crab cake was delicious but the side of purรฉed corn looked like vomit and tasted too sweet. They used to make your spinach salad in front of you. Now they don't even offer it. Waiter said they have a new chef and he'd didn't like it. Really ?? You have to ask for bread. The steaks and sea bass are still good quality. Side dishes are edible. We have been coming to sage room for over 30 years (when they use to be located where Hell's Kitchen is now) But for the price point they can do better. Waiters are very polite and engaging. Just hope they find a new chef.
Wanted our anniversary night to be special so decided on
Wanted our anniversary night to be special so decided on the Sage Room. Spent extra money for a "prime" table to watch the sunset over the lake. Reservation was for 7:15, we arrived 10 minutes early and were seated. Water and bread arrived but no waiter. Finally ordered drinks at 7:30 then waited until 7:55 to order food. Salads arrived quickly but entree's didn't show up until 8:30. I ordered the bone in NY Strip medium with grilled shrimp and a baked potato. My wife ordered the salmon, nothing was customized. Although the salmon was edible the steak was under cooked (rare) and cold, so was the grilled shrimp. It was the worst steak I have ever had especially at a cost of $85 - which I refused to pay for. Stay away from this place. It is NOT a premier steakhouse. Our waiter was pleasant but not attentive. The manager didn't seem to care about us. Extremely disappointed in the service and food.
We were sat without menus left unattended for awhile
We were sat without menus left unattended for awhile ordered starters they no longer make the caesar salad table side so it came out the equivalent of a safeway deli counter premixed salad, french onion soup was okay, the food and cocktail took an excessively long time to get to the table. We were sat at 9:05 and our food showed up at around 9:50 and it wasn't packed in the slightest. My ribeye was tough and topped with a bacon bourbon jam which I missed on the menu my mistake but was like someone poured maple syrup on a steak. I left half of it behind. For 2 adults and 2 kids almost $400 for a meal that was subpar to texas roadhouse.
Wonderful fine dining option at Caesars Republic.
The view is spectacular and I love the ambiance of the restaurant. They also had some cool jazz playing. All of the staff were very professional which we really appreciate. The food was perfectly cooked, I had the salmon and my husband had the steak. It was a wonderful experience and we would definitely come back again in the future!
We always enjoy the meal at the Sage Room.
The view is beautiful and the dining room is very nice. Service was excellent and we had a very nice meal. My only reason for a missing star is for the prices in the bar. My last review ( last month) lamented the $23.95 price for one martini. On this latest visit, it was up to $25.95 for the same cocktail. I am having difficultly figuring how the bar can charge that price. The other restaurants we visited in Caesar's Republic and Harrah's were not nearly that pricey. The bar staff was totally overwhelmed and we had to wait a good amount of time for a cocktail. They had the bar to service, as well as the entire dining room, which was very busy. I hate to take the Sage Room off our list of must visit places, but it is getting close. I would love to see management take a look at their escalating prices and make a fair adjustment.

Had 30 guests for a Bday celebration, staff thats assisted us, Frank, Hal, and Teddy were awesome. Filet delicious rhose who had chicken and salmon also raved about. Would highly recommend if your considering a special event!!!!
First time dining here.
Our server Jericho and helper Juan were very attentive and friendly. Hubby and I shared a salmon w/puree sweet potato & broccolini plate. We also had lobster bites. The garlic butter sauce is so good and yummy for dipping your bread. A great meal on the 19th floor of Harvey's. Beautiful view. A nice spot if you just want to have a drink at the bar with great views of the lake. Bon Appetit!
Awesome Restaurant, A Must When in Tahoe.
Great place to have a fun dinner, enjoy the atmosphere, meet new, interesting people and have a nice meal (went twice during our visit). The food portions are large and varied (a choice is available for every palate). The dishes are excellently prepared, presented and taste great. The staff is very knowledgeable, attentive and friendly, providing excellent customer service. The drinks, well it's Lisa, so they are very, very good. And as far as the entrees, they are very appropriately priced (the Cobb salad with lobster and shrimp will blow you away). A minor disappointment were the desserts. They were fine but I expected better from Lisa's restaurant.
Girls night out
Just visited Wolf with girlfriends for a 40th birthday party. Kayla took such great care of us. Amazing cocktails. The food was delish, vibe was super cool, and I canโt wait to come back.
Great food great service great views exceptional experience
Great food great service great views exceptional experience I will be back ! I've lived in Tahoe for 50 years and always considered the Sage Room one of my favorite restaurants now that it's at the 19th floor at Caesars Republic It's A fitting location for a long time consistently good restaurant
Great experience - will be back......................
By far, the best restaurant in South Lake Tahoe. Husband had the Filet and I had Lisa's seafood salad. Both were outstanding. We went again the next night. Service was perfect and Hillary took fantastic care of us!!
Casual elegance
Pleasantly surprised by the casual, yet elegant, atmosphere of Wolf. The food and service was great - the highlight was the ambiance and craft cocktails. Love that doga are welcome!
Hungry Like A ๐บ
Found this fabulous ambiance on lower level of Harveyโs on Monday night. Vanderpump does not disappoint on the decor. It is an experience to eat as well as be here. ๐บ
A must visit highline restaurant
First time visitor here so did not have any expectations. However, based on the quality of the food in the service we received, we would definitely return. My wife ordered the Chilean Seabass. And at $62 it had better be good. Well it was and we would definitely over that dish again. I ordered a fillet which was cooked to perfection, flavorful and very tender. Again a dish I would order again. A dessert which was equally as good as our main meal. Highly recommend this place.
Worth coming to - do pretty and upscale
Went at 530pm and was able to squeeze in. Food was great and our waitress Hilary was so knowledgeable and was AMAZING!! After slumming around Tahoe and walking through a beat Harveyโs casino - WOLF was such a nice reprieve!! Upscale food and a very different and sparkly decor. We had the caviar&chips and the goat cheese balls. The Ceasar salad was very tasty and huge. For dinner we had the New York and the salmon - we preferred the salmon. Would come back again.
Best Cajun steak I've ever had.
...The mash potatoes and asparagus were good. But the steak was delicious. Along with gorgeous views
Started with a whiskey sour with Makers Mark-so good!!!
Started with a whiskey sour with Makers Mark-so good!!! Caesar salad for two made at the table was perfect. I am now spoiled forever after the Steak Diane. The view....Tahoe Blue and Snow capped Sierras. Unbeatable
The food was good.
Service was rude and rushed. I couldn't decide quick enough for the server. He told me to hurry up because the kitchen was going to get busy. We we seated less than 8 minutes. Once we got our dinner, he left and went and chatted with all his other tables. Mind you, my husband didn't have a fork so he ate his entire filet mignon and mashed potatoes with a tiny 2 pronged olive fork. He never checked back till we were finished. Then he quickly boxed my food and dropped the check. He got a 30 dollar sympathy tip. He knew it was our anniversary too. Never again will I spend $200 bucks on dinner here becausethe food was worth it though the service was not. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one or you might get this waiter. To magement we charged our room 619 . I'm sure you can see who he was from Sunday night.
Delish.
Exactly what my mom was hoping for. Old school table-side service starting with Caesar salad for two and the steak Diane for two and ending with a brandy orange peel Diablo concoction. The ambiance is amazing. Wish they could have opened the blinds so we had the lake view but we were fixing to be hit with the direct sun.
Food is always amazing here at Sage.
I miss the old location inside Harvey's they should have never changed it. Sage was a long standing restaurant at Harvey's in casino floor now moved up to the 19th floor and different ambience now. Give it try I guess but not same staff either
The food is almost always excellent along with the service.
It was a go to for occasions for years. Recently while making a reservation (months in advance) I learned they now charged $40 for a window seat...WTF ... you gotta be kidding! Went to Fridays at Harrahs instead, great food, service and no extra charge for a window seat! Seriously Harveys, leave that stupidity in california...
Good dinner on Sunday, the 14th, a couple weeks ago.
Food overall was quite delicious. Their bread service was scrumptious. I started with a fair lobster bisque. The consistency was too thin, even watery. Though it did taste good. For my entree I went with the 7oz. filet Mignon with Bearnaise sauce and a accompaniment of au gratin potatoes. The filet was phenomenal! Perfectly seasoned and cooked medium rare it was heavenly. The au gratin potatoes left something to be desired. They were on the bland side and needed some kicking up. I finished with the donut holes. They were pretty good too. Fair selection of wines by the glass. Service was attentive and friendly. I had a window table with a pleasant partial view of the lake. Nature obliged me with some snow flurries during my meal.

Our reservation was for 5:45 and we showed up at 5:15 and were seated immediately. Our Waiter EVAN was Great. He kept it real and was very nice with a great personality and great suggestions based on our wants. The drinks tasted good. Pricey but that's expected. Service was well paced. We were not rushed at all and yet also did not have to wait long for any of our order to come out. We had the butter pouched lobster appetizer and escargot and both were delicious. Small portions but like a flavor bomb in your mouth. As seen in the pic below I had the Cajun Ribeye and EVAN was nice enough to bring me a side of a different sauce to try with my Steak and all were delicious but the Cajun Ribeye with the sauce it comes with was the best. Highly recommend. My Wife had the Veel Chop which was tender and juicy and we shared the truffle mushroom Ravioli that was also very tasty. I was skeptical about eating here based on reviews i read but have to say i Definitely will return.

We decided to stay in the hotel for dinner, one of the very friendly car attendants recommended Sage over Wolf & Hells Kitchen as they were the 3 on our bucket list so we made a reservation for 5:45pm. We were greeted and immediately seated, unfortunately I had to turn my seat completely around to view the lake, which was one of the main reasons for choosing Sage, and it was beautiful! Service was on point, we started with cocktails, my husband had the pineapple mojito & I have the lavender martini and the lemon martini, all very good. My husband ordered the 80th pre fix special French onion soup steak and chocolate cake with ice cream, it was all good, the server recommended the clam chowder and the Chilean sea bass, which I didn't care for, I've had it before and it was better elsewhere. We ended our evening with coffee, we enjoy coffee after dinner and unfortunately the coffee was boring, we really expected a better coffee and did feel really rushed, I am glad we tried it but for what the bill was we expected better.
Excellent old school restaurant
We reserved a table online and got a lovely table with a wonderful view of lake tahoe. Our experience throughout the time was outstanding. This is an old school restaurant with traditional food and 5 star service. We started with a gin martini which was perfect with a lemon twist. We shared the escargots and had a table side prep of Cesar's salad which was delicious and well done. Our entrรฉes were medium rare prime rib and the elk chop. The prime rib was a giant portion and perfectly prepared. The elk chop was an average portion and a bit dry due to the lean meat, it came with a sauce to offset the lean meat and mashed potatoes. We also ordered asparagus for our meal. For dessert we ordered the creme brulee, a refreshing choice after a heavy meal. Our waiter was friendly and answered our questions and offered suggestions. He has been at this restaurant for 37 years!

The filet with peppercorn was so overly seasoned and the steak was way overcooked. For a very $$$$ steakhouse that was disappointing.
Good but a little overpriced
We had a table in the bar with a great view. The temp in the bar was hot. There was a couple sitting at the bar with two small dogs on leashes. For a supposedly fine dining experience, I don't expect to be seated next to dogs, and I love dogs. We both had very good cocktails, a Manhattan and their version of a Lemon Drop. Service was very good and mostly attentive. Food was very good although my prime rib was a little light on flavor, but the 12 oz cut was huge. Chicken dish over rice with an egg on top was very flavorful and good. Dessert was mediocre. We both felt it was overpriced for the overall food/service experience. Good but not great.
Do it for the view
Beautiful room, beautiful ambiance, and such a beautiful view! Came here on a Saturday night, had made a reservation for 5 pm. Got seated right away at a beautiful window table with the most stunning lake view at sunset. Our waiter Teddy was fantastic from the get go. Very nice, accommodating, great service. The food was divine. We had the escargot, oysters, wedge salad, duck, and sirloin - all were fantastic. And our bottle of wine was superb. One of the best dining experiences we've had. High recommend!
Worst over priced meal ever!
Worst, overpriced meal ever. My wife and I went here for our Christmas meal. Took an hour to get our food and mine was cold. The house Merlot wine is priced like gold. $37 a glass. Do not waste your time or money. Had a better meal the next day at Applebees.
Sage Room living on the past !
I was very disappointed with the Sage Room . The Sage Room is living on its past reputation. We dinned there on Christmas night.(2023). First, although our server was nice, we were treated as an after thought. Second, the steaks were ok but not up to the high standards they think they have. Also, one of our steaks was medium, not med rare. Why didn't we send it back. No one to send it back with ! No steak knives until I was able to wave down a busser. The escargot was good but they use the small escargot, as I have found in the low cost bistros in Paris. If you have been to Paris enough, you will know what I'm talking about. Pricing: If everything was on track, I would say it was fair. But considering the issues we had, it was overpriced. Otherwise, will not be dinning there again, period.
Worst overpriced meal Iโve ever had
Do not waste your money nor time on this pathetic zero star restaurant. We dined there Dec 4th and it was honestly the worst overpriced meal Iโve ever had . I ordered medium rare prime rib , it came out well done . I told the waitress and showed her the prime rib and she agreed and took back to kitchen only to deliver me a another slab of beef that was just as bad , she even slung the plate at me saying this is the best we have . Then my husband ordered their chicken at 50 dollars only to get dried tasteless chicken. My husband who never says anything was so upset he told them the food sucked and asked to speak to the management . They never showed up and wanted us out so they comped the entire meal . We specifically said we were not looking for a free meal but I think we were so upset they wanted us to leave. I have eaten all over the world and honestly the worse overpriced meal Iโve had . BEWARE OF THIS DUMP
great food and great service but the front desk needs some work
we ate dinner there after not visiting Tahoe for 25 years. the food and service is still awesome. the table service to make your salad and dessert is still a reason alone to go there. we had the fish special and it was awesome. the drinks are pricey but they are good. the meal was so good we decided to come back the next night to try a different dessert. we asked the front desk about a reservation and we were told that there were no openings until 9:15pm the next night. we finished up our day and were able to get to the hotel about 7pm. we went up to the sage room and were again told that we could not be seated until 9:15 pm. we were told we could sit in the bar and if we wanted to order food we could do so but not any of the table desserts would be available. so we headed to the bar. after an hour we noticed a table for 2 that was still empty across from us. I went and asked the front desk person and was told that no tables were available. I mentioned the empty one and was again told no table were available. after another half hour it was still empty and i went back to ask again.. same answer that "nothing is available until 9:15. i mention it was strange that they couldn't accommodate us since we would have been long gone getting our dessert by now.. the woman just smiled and said, "nothing is available until 9:15pm". clearly she did not plan on doing anything to take care of a return customer. quite the attitude and i mentioned it was "just my observation that an available table went to waste" and was told "thank you for your observation. there are no tables available until 9:15pm". irritating enough to not want to come back. which is a shame since the food is so good. so we just left and did not want to wait another 30-40 minutes since the mood had been ruined. o well.. it is what it is..
Excellent Restaurant
Mini mini times here in the trend will continue. Excellent service plus excellent views in their new location. Per usual I ordered the steak Diane and it was sent from Heaven. My wife ordered the soul which she thoroughly loved the steak Diane is without a doubt the best ever.
Good Luck!
Well I tried to go but the reservation system sucks, the lady didn't speak English and we couldn't understand if the place was full or just not accepting reservations yet (too far in advance). I assume the service is terrible since that's were we started. (Long time local)
Elevated Views and Food
We started out at the bar intending to have a light dinner of salad and appetizers. We asked about a table by the windows but unfortunately all were reserved. We were pleasantly surprised when the host stopped by later to say there had been a cancellation. We decided to splurge and try some of the entrees. The Steak Diane was beautifully prepared tableside. The scallops were perfectly cooked and a generous portion of them. The service was attentive, and the atmosphere was very tranquil.
