I was very happy with my dinner here - the food was unique
I was very happy with my dinner here - the food was unique and flavorful, service was attentive and the atmosphere was fun & comfortable. The menu is meant to be served family style so plan on ordering a couple dishes for the table to share! My favorite items on the menu were the dips. I tried the muhammara and the whipped feta. The muhammara is an absolute must to order! The flavor is so unique it's like having a healthy version of a Ferrero Rocher chocolate dip. The whipped feta was delicious as well. We ended up ordering a half of each dip which was a nice appetizer for two people. The naan bread for dipping was pillowy perfection. We also tried the soft cooked egg hummus which was great hummus I just preferred the dips. We finished the meal with crispy eggplant and lamb kebabs. Both were excellent and flavorful. This is a great place for a date night and/or a nice dinner out with friends.

I absolutely love Israeli Mediterranean food, and Safta did not disappoint. We got the roasted mushrooms, hummus, baba ghanoush, and crispy eggplant. All of them were standouts. The roasted mushrooms were very earthy, and the hummus was smooth as butter.

ambiance is cute and service was great but the food was extremely mediocre. we got whipped feta, duck matzah ball soup, lamb shank and salmon crudo. we walked away feeling like we've had better versions of all of the above. the soup was definitely the best thing we got. whipped feta was hard (this typically comes smooth), lamb was cold and over cooked with mediocre flavor. def not the worst meal i've ever had but not at all worth all of the hype. sonny's was MUCH better.

From the moment we walked in it was delightful, however our server (Steven sp?) was outstanding! His attention to detail, description of each item on the menu, attentiveness without being overly attentive was spot on perfection! Now about the food --- Straight fire! We tried 2 types of hummus, the harissa chicken, carrots, falafel (had no idea it was supposed to taste like this), Baklava & the least option on the dessert menu, all of them were somewhere between fabulous and mind blowing . The restaurant is laid out so nicely, we sat around the corner, near the back & felt like we were the only ones there. You can see the kitchen and it's so clean and efficient. If I can go back (I don't live in Colorado) and IF I could only pick 3 things they would be (in this order) 1.Steven 2. Soft Egg Humus 3. Pita bread (it's so melt in your mouth good)

Plus, great service. One of bartenders was cold/not kind but could be one of days being tired.
Be the first to ReplyWe did the Sunday brunch.
Large selection and all fresh and delicious. Our server made sure we had full water glasses/coffee and offered for drinks (which we declined due to the amount of food). Located in The Source hotel, warm ambience despite the hotel being more industrial with it's decor.

Great Mediterranean! Nice staff, cute spot and delicious food. The brunch is a buffet and has a lot of their menu available on it!

Every thing is served family style which is one of my personal favorites. I like to try multiple dishes and this is the best way to try a wide range of options. We had the lamb which is a must try! Then my favorite for the night was the eggplant dish. Crispy and blasting full of flavors. We sat at the bar and our server was great. She kept food and drinks coming! Although I didn't sit at the table it looked super cute and completely full. Definitely need a reservation!
Be the first to ReplyI really enjoyed Safta.
The appetizers, small plates and hummus were amazing. I usually go with a few recommendations from the waiter as a first timer to a restaurant and the Harissa chicken was recommended. I figured you can't go wrong with chicken and everything else was soooooo good so far, so why not. If I based my review off of the chicken, it would be 3 stars easy. However the hummus was so good, I couldn't do that. I also enjoyed the Lamb Kebobs. Idk what I was expecting from the ambience, it was a little tight back to back with the seating but comfortable enough and modern and the service was great. I'll be back but I won't get the chicken. I may just stick to the hummus and small plates and sip on some wine. You can't go wrong doing that.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful hip Mediterranean restaurant.
Cool location. We were there in winter but in summer the who space is opened up. We loved the appetizers and also terrific entrees--meat and vegetarian. Loved the signature drinks.
Be the first to ReplyThis is hands down my favorite restaurant in Denver.
I take every out of town guest here and every one of them leave just as in love with Safta as I am. The atmosphere, food, and service are all consistently OUTSTANDING. The entire staff is extremely knowledgeable, talented and caring. For dinner, you have to try a hummus or two ( I love the foraged mushroom or lamb ragu). The Persian rice is also an absolute MUST. If you're into roasted chicken, no one does it better than Safta. For brunch, get the shakshuka. No matter what you get here, you can't go wrong especially with guidance from your server. So grateful Safta exists!

I really really really liked Safta! The super creamy hummus (we went with the tahini), lovely, sturdy yet pillow-y pita, melt in your mouth lamb shank, and picked veggies to cut the richness of everything. Absolutely wonderful! I can't wait to return! Oh, and my husband's mock-tail was super tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed the Moroccan mint tea and very much appreciated the refill on the hot water for that. Definitely recommend!

I can't decide whether dinner or the brunch buffet at Safta is better; both were nothing short of spectacular! If variety is your thing, then the brunch buffet is the way to go. It was a great way to sample a lot of items on their menu all at once, along with other items that I haven't seen on the dinner menu. My favorite items were the roasted lamb, the lamb meatballs and borekas. The hostess mentioned that children under 10 eat free, so maybe I'll take my kids with us one of these days. Dinner offers hearty, flavorful items like a whole fried fish in a harissa sauce and the lamb shank in pomegranate sauce. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Denver, hands down. Can't wait to dine here again!

My friend told me about this place, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It's one of those place where you have to make a reservation and I was lucky enough to score a reservation there. We were assisted by Matty, who did an excellent job of going over the menu with us. Based on some of his recommendations, we ended up ordering the muhammara, foraged mushrooms hummus, falafel, lamb kebabs, and salmon crudo. My favorites were the hummus and salmon crudo, especially the yogurt sauce and the housemade pita bread. I would order those again or try the lamb ragu hummus. The lamb kebabs were like lamb meatballs, but they were also really good. I enjoyed the spices and different flavors with each dish and sauce. It was like a savory party in my mouth! Matty provided the best service and the busser was also very good about refilling water. I would definitely come here again for the food and exceptional service! There is street parking available or the parking structure charges $8 an hour or something like that (nope, we parked somewhere where we could eye our car and it was free). It's in the River North Arts district so come early if you want to find free parking.

Solid dinner place! Make sure to get all the dips and extra pita! The wine list is also incredible.

This beautiful restaurant is a quaint little spot inside of 'The Source' in the RiNo district in Denver, perfect for a date night or a girls dinner. Alon Shaya's, simple yet glam aesthetic motif and menu of Israeli "tapas" just hits different. I mean it when I say that "This was the best meal I've had in a long time". All of the different hummus(es) are to die for and are a meal in itself, they also donate to various charities for "Hummus for a Cause" for every order of the monthly pick. A truly unparalleled dining experience. Bring back the olive oil martini!

How did I not hear about this brunch buffet sooner? This spread is above and beyond. Lips of dips, spreads, breads, lamb, cheese, vegetables. The desserts even have their own section. The included tea was delightful as well. I highly recommend this for this a group of friends or family. Its a set price and there is something everyone can enjoy.

Weird atmosphere and strange service, we had like 5 different people come to our table. Food wasn't as good as I was expecting. Pretty pricey and just wasn't up to the hype

Maybe people think this place is great because for Denver, it might have some panache. But in reality, this is just a well-marketed mediocre restaurant. First, they cultivate exclusivity by making it difficult to get a reservation. But if you arrive at 5 or even 6 pm, you can walk right in and snag a seat at the bar (and the seats at the bar are more comfortable than the early American-looking chairs at the tables). Further, the servers/bartenders are exceptionally knowledgeable about the menu and will make helpful suggestions about ordering. The wine list is mediocre so I regret not ordering a cocktail. The menu is fairly limited and there seems to be a concerted effort by the chef to personalize everything, including the pita bread. The pita here (obviously made in house) is thick and doughy - very suitable for a falafel sandwich but too heavy as an accompaniment to the rest of the dishes. The brisket stuffed cabbage was quite tasty but not exceptional. The lamb "kabobs" were actually lamb meatballs. The tahini hummus was very good but I prefer a grainier hummus. The cheese boreas were the best dish we enjoyed. Our bill was upwards of $130 (one dish each of the items I described plus one glass of wine) so I wouldn't peg this as a two $$ place.

Might have just taken the cake for top restaurant in Denver! So damn delicious and phenomenal service. The eggplant was the best bite of food, next the salmon crudo was tied with the chanterelle. Both were incredible. The muhammara was a nice surprise. It was complex, fun and delicious. The Persian rice was confusing. I wasn't sure I loved it, yet we couldn't stop eating it and I then I was devouring it. Very confusing which is fun! Gage was an incredible server too!

Visited from Seattle and already crave it again. Really hoping they bring this to our city!Isreali and Mediterranean inspired dishes that are all shareable. Bring an appetite because when you order for the table you can try a handful of unique flavorful foods. Spreads: Baba Ganoush (7/10): Delicious and large sized spreads perfect to share with fresh naan Lamb Ragu Humma: (9/10) this taste was so unique and flavorful Chees Borekas: (10/10) was hesitant on ordering this and it was such a perfect addition. Sweet and so light to a crip to eat. Falafel: (10/10) I have eaten a lot of falafel and this has been my favorite one so far. Not greasy at all! Service/ Ambiance was superb. Busy restaurant, but they advise you on what to order, how much to order for size of the table and gave great options for each section.

By far the best food I have had in Denver and what a fantastic way to enjoy shared plates with Mediterranean cuisine. We loved the fresh pita, the wonderful vegetarian options. Our server was a little strange she had this crazy uptight face and smiled a little scary. She smiled so hard at our table and then a moment later her face just completely changed as she turned away from our table. The drinks fella was very relaxed and cool. I was very thankful the manager was able to get us a nice table without a prior reservation. Fantastic fresh food, pricey but worth every penny. I loved the theater of watching the sous chefs working in their stations. Excellent decor and overall wonderful experience. will be a must-have on every Denver trip.
Be the first to ReplyI've been hearing about this place since I've lived in
I've been hearing about this place since I've lived in Denver, and overall had a pretty good experience here the other night. We went during prime time on a Friday, and they were almost fully packed by 6 PM. For starters, we ordered the lamb ragu hummus and the cheese borekas, both of which were delicious, however the star of the show was the pita- it was delish. For entrees, we ended up getting the short rib stuffed cabbage and the half chicken. The cabbage was great flavor-wise, however it arrived cold to the table, though I still enjoyed it. The harissa chicken was good, but with nothing beyond a half charred lemon on the plate, my partner and I found it difficult to find the value in it for $35. Drinks were excellent, the "aloe can you go" was by far my favorite, chareau on any menu is a must. Service was good, but nothing to write home about. Overall, I did enjoy myself, but the portion sizes kept us hungry after everything, with two appetizers, pita, and two entrees. Being raised jewish and on mediterranean food, I had really high expectations for these dishes, so I'd love to come back and try it again, perhaps for brunch or strictly hummus next time.
