Rizzo's House of Parm Fort Erie Reviews from The Last Year
Disappointed
We waited a long time to get a reservation. We were able to get one at 4:15 pm. Which is perfect for eating a large pasta meal. We felt the ambiance of this place was underwhelming for the prices that they charge. Our server Shay was great. Very knowledgeable and great in offering suggestions. She checked on us several times. But as soon as I read the menu I knew I would not be happy. Everything there is pre-made. They do not make their own pasta or desserts. Most of the fried apps ( moz. sticks, calamari, etc are frozen and not made fresh on the premises.) No chef is cooking in the kitchen. There are no sounds or smells coming from the kitchen. In fact, the lights were out in there. Nothing is grilled to order. They have no meat like Classic Bronzeno fish. No Italian steaks, and no grill marks on the meatballs. It essentially is a group of amazing people who run the microwave and the deep fryer. The Calamari was crusted and fried to be hard as a rock. Not crispy and light. No moisture and tasteless. The Mozzo sticks also had a very hard coating. I Ordered the Matty salad with high hopes. Felt it was just an average salad for the $16.00 they charged. The lettuce was cut into huge pieces. Very difficult to get into your mouth and chew. The Carbonara that I ordered felt like it was off. Felt the Cheese was sour. My companion felt the same when he tasted it. He ordered the Shrimp Scampi. The best part was the fresh and delicious shrimp, the addition of the crispy topping and the sauce was delicious. Downfall the noodles were too al dente. The plates were delivered to the table cold. l Feel that this place is over-rated and overpriced. The biggest thing it has going for it is the staff. They are very proud of the restaurant. I appreciate that Matty has tried to bring something new to Crystal Beach. But for me, I will not be coming back, and I will be reluctant to try another Matty restaurant. To the staff-you are commended for what you bring to the place. Matty needs to try the Valley in St Catharines for a real Italian meal.
Very happy patron :)
Had heard about Rizzo's House of Parm & visited with two other couples after securing a reservation many many weeks earlier. The reviews were glowing. As such, I was concerned I would be disappointed as my expectations had gone into over drive plus I had arranged this outing with our party and didn't want it to be a let down. Well, well....absolutely no disappointment. The service was A1, server (Stephanie) jovial and attentive. The food was amazingly flavourful, served piping hot and servings quite generous. The house wine was quite enjoyable as well. Bottom line, I would 100% recommend this eatery. It's a small establishment with a family style vibe. Our group had a great experience and we are looking forward to returning.
Great restaurant but overpriced
Food and service was great… no complaints there but it was quite expensive for salad and pasta .. atmosphere was very nice and I’m sure it would be great in the summer to sit on the patio
Good food but VERY overpriced
Not sure what all the hype is about. Went on a Tuesday night with some girlfriends. It was very busy but our service was good. I had the eggplant parm which was $25.00, but you had to pay an extra $9.00 for a side of spaghetti. I chose not to. I ordered Trisha's baked shells to take home for my husband. It was $25.00 and he got 5 small shells. He honestly thought I gave him my leftovers. Both dishes were delicious however very overpriced. No bread served for the table or even parm cheese/pepper flakes at the table which I thought was odd. Some other reviewers noted that is very loud. It definitely is but that didn't really bother us. Overall, I would not go back.
Amazing nite!
We were a table of 6, we got their famous mozza sticks and they were amazing! We ordered the chic parm and it was huge with tons of cheese! I got a pasta for a side dish and the red sce is to dye for! We ordered the brownie desert and it came warm and was so fresh! Definitely be back, the bonus to the nite was Matty was at the restaurant and came over snd talked to us and even took pics with us. Very down to earth guy.
Huge fan of Matty Matheson along with my oldest son.
We went as a family and the food was outstanding , along with great service . We were even lucky to enough to have Matty come over to our table and talk to us . He even took a photo with my family at our table. Great place that we will visit again
Family dinner
Went for a family dinner and we started with the wedge salad which was big enough for 3 of us to split. Daughter had the Mac and cheese which she enjoyed, my wife had the penne alla vodka which was different from what we had at other restaurants, and I had the tagliatelle with a bolognese sauce. Desert we had the tiramisu and coffee. Everything tasted great and the portions are big.
good food, poor service
Well, the food was good while the service was pitiful. After being seated for our 7 pm reservation, we watched tables on both sides of us arrive 5 minutes or so after us and have their drinks served before we were even asked if we'd like to order a drink. Finally, I managed to wave down our waitress and order a bottle of wine. Service was like this all night for us. While we were finishing our mains, she dropped off the cheque without saying a word - no offer of coffee or desert. We wanted to try the tiramisu and waited close to 30 minutes but she never returned and seemed to ignore my attempts to get her attention. Finally we asked a young girl who was cleaning tables to ask our waitress to order the tiramisu for us. This worked. It was very good as was the bolognese, the mozzarella sticks and the charcuterie. I think I'd go again and just hope for a different server.
Food here was great.
Loved the calamari, mozzarella sticks, chicken parm and veal parm. Tiramisu was tasty as well. We made reservations online but it was really busy on a weeknight. Would go back.
enjoyable but no reason to return
Arriving at 6:00 on a Monday evening, all tables were occupied with a total of 57 dinners (capacity is 62). When we left an hour and a half later several tables had turned and the house was still full. There was a total of 9 staff who were clearly well managed and functioning smoothly as a team. All staff were casually dressed in white printed T shirts and dark pants. The room is blond wood throughout, clean and unpretentious, welcoming albeit quite noisy. Our waitress was expert in all respects, fully knowledgeable re the menu, pointing out possible combinations and inviting diners to share dishes in a friendly matter of factual way with neither obsequiousness nor haughtiness. The menu is designed for efficiency and economy in the kitchen. There are no daily features or table d’hote combinations, nor are there any vegetables with the exception of one light salad or a side of sauteed rapini at $16 each. The 8 appetizers ($16 to $22) were an interesting assortment including burrata & focaccia, calamari with spicy tomato dip, a simple charcuterie, 5 deep fried mozzarella fingers and tomato dip, and bruschetta. Eight variations of pasta main dishes, all deep dish & copious enough to fill a hungry person, and oven heated to melt the generous raft of cheese floating on the full flavoured tomato sauce. Our table chose chicken parmesan, tagliatelle Bolognese, and pasta shells filled with ricotta with touch of lemon. All were tasty and very enjoyable although without a side veg or bread (none offered) eating one’s way through the plateful became a little tedious. I noticed quite a few doggie boxes being taken home. We did not have dessert. There are a number of house cocktails on offer prepared by a dedicated bartender, and a small wine list starting at $58 for a non-VQA, non vintage, Niagara cab-merlot blend. Our table of three shared an order of excellent calamari and a side salad, one main each, and a bottle of the cab-merlot at a pre tax, pre tip, tally of about $170. If we go again we would order differently by choosing one main plate to be shared by two or three people and augmented by several appetizers, the side salad and the rapini and thereby creating our own ‘family style’ dinner with lots of variation.
Rizzo's House of Parm is the place for Italian classic
Rizzo's House of Parm is the place for Italian classic dishes! We ended up going during a snowstorm so it was pretty empty, so I'm not sure how busy it usually is. We drove from Niagara because we've heard so many good things about Rizzo's! The restaurant itself has its own unique vibe, kind of decorated like a vintage diner. Servers were very friendly. We ordered the Calamari, Veal Parmesan, side of Spaghetti, Rigatoni Carbonara, and the Tiramisu. I didn't get to snap a picture of the veal and carbonara, unfortunately! They include complimentary bread (I believe it was seasoned focaccia) and it was so soft. It also comes with a side of olive oil and balsamic vinegar but I could just eat it on its own. This was the first time I've had breaded calamari, but it was seasoned well and the breading goes well with the marinara. The Veal Parmesan was my favourite of the night. It was thin and crispy, great with a side of their classic spaghetti. The spaghetti was good but nothing mind blowing, however. The Rigatoni Carbonara was also delicious, however a bit too al dente for my liking. We ended up taking the Tiramisu for takeout since we were so full! The Tiramisu was also good, but probably would have been better if we ate it at the restaurant. Definitely the spot for some classic Italian dishes!
This was maybe our top restaurant experiences of the entire
This was maybe our top restaurant experiences of the entire year! We traveled from Buffalo with 7 people and had to have the meal family style since we originally were going to have 8 people. We weren't mad at all about this since the amount of food was shocking. Every single item blew us away! The staff was amazing, so happy and helpful. Our top favorites include the mozzarella sticks (literally don't skip these ever) and the carbonara! But again, I don't think you can get a bad meal here and we can't wait to try more different things next time.
Just wow! Rizzos house of parm is so cool.
We watch that crazy guy on the show on hulu the bear and he knows how to do it. I used to come to crystal beach as a kid but they never had nice places like this. Just like mom makes it! Good italian cooking! Even had stuffed shells on the menu...
Okay but Overpriced for experience
We went as a family of 4 for dinner. Food was okay, service was good, atmosphere so-so. Overall we felt it was overpriced. We ordered the veal parm and had to separately order a side of pasta.
Unfortunate
Food is fresh and tasty. It’s unfortunate that they did nothing to make the dining experience better. It’s loud, uncomfortable and crowded.
Food is very good.
Service is good but the kitchen has trouble getting food out. We got our salads and drinks right away but waited a good half hour for our entrees. Nice ambiance but very loud; not enough soft surfaces.
Long awaited visit to Rizzos was perfect! Our party of 4
Long awaited visit to Rizzos was perfect! Our party of 4 arrived for a late reservation on Friday night. Had to wait a few minutes before our table was ready, and they ran out of wine glasses for a bit. But those were minor things that righted themselves shortly. Our experience was great! Our server was friendly and helpful! And the food was mighty delicious. The burrata with tomato, Penne alla vodka and Veal parm were the highlights. But everything else was wonderful also. Loved the space - it was warm and cozy. And in the summer, they have a lovely patio as well. Parking is limited though, so try to carpool if you can!
Made a reservation 6 weeks ahead of a trip to Buffalo, NY
Made a reservation 6 weeks ahead of a trip to Buffalo, NY and Ontario because we're huge Matty Matheson fans, and Rizzo's did not disappoint. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendliest front of house staff, and they seated us early even though we were fine to wait! Glad I made a Res, as it was so busy! Karina, our server was so kind and made us feel special being there! Super casual environment but you could dress yourself up if you wanted to make it a special night out. Bright, clean interior with just the right touch of nostalgia. So many home style Italian restaurants are dark and dingy; this was the opposite. You could see the chef calling out orders in the back of house, so you knew everything was super freshly prepared. We ended up getting the burrata, meatballs, Penne alla Vodka and the rigatoni carbonara. Everything was amazing! I'm not a huge red sauce person (a personal flaw I know) and this was the most delicious, light red sauce I've ever had. My fiancé said the carbonara was the best one he's ever had, ever. We were so pleased. We even got hats! They have merch :) We will be making the trip into Canada again for this one!
I was happy with their service and food.
Food was delicious and a good family sharing portion. I would definitely come back again and recommend this restaurant.
Incredible! Best Italian I've had in the area.
The penne alla vodka is not to be missed. All of the food was delicious. We started with Proscuitto Burrata app, Mattys salad, and focaccia. For mains we have veal parm, eggplant parm, tagliatelle, and the penne alla vodka. We finished with the brownie and the Affogato, the brownie is truly a show stopper. We also had the house wine which was perfect. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. The service was wonderful, our waiter was kind and attentive the entire evening. The restaurant was cute and cozy, yet updated and chic at the same time.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Banned from Resy for selling reservations- Do we have a rat on our hands???
I am new to this app and started off by selling a polo bar reservation and then quickly sold one more reservation. Not long after I received emails from Resy saying all my reservations are cancelled and I am being banned from Resy for life. How could this have possibly happened without a rat telling Resy that I sold the reservation. I need some advice on this situation and let’s catch the rat!
Give the best answerBid and Buy Instantly
I have a big ongoing and it also shows someone is working on my bid. Today I see there is a " Buy Instantly " option at my portfolio showing same price I've bid for a reservation. I'm a bit confused, since my money has already been deducted from my credit card for the bid, do I need to pay one more time for the Buy Instantly? If I choose Buy Instantly, can I cancel my bid ( while someone is working on it )? Thanks!
