My traveling companion had a friend who had tea at Le Dali
My traveling companion had a friend who had tea at Le Dali and wanted to go. I made a reservation without checking Yelp first. Now that I have read the other reviews, I see that Le Dali has a long tradition of bad service. In a city known for surly and slow waiters, Le Dali stood out, and not in a good way. We ran out of water to drink, but tea was not forthcoming. I had to contact a supervisor to get the tea brought. The waiter made a great ceremony of turning over the hourglass and told us not to pour the tea until he returned to do it. He never returned. The bread on two of the sandwiches was dried out. The food was generally underwhelming for the price. Go elsewhere for your fancy tea experience.

This place is overpriced and overrated! First it is not a restaurant. It is an open lobby of Le Meurice. Beside the standard of high ceiling, long windows, some pots and plants, there was not much to see. There was no separation. The tables were right in the passing corridor of hotel guesses. If you expect a quiet and delightful afternoon tea time, then this is not the place. We arrived 15 min early and wanted to wander around. Instead after checking in, we were told to sit in waiting area and waiting to be called. 20 min later no one called, we asked the hostess. And again she checked our appointment and told us to wait. 10 min later we asked again then were ushered to a table in the corridor. There were only us, a party of two, and another older couples. Otherwise there were peoples walking around with suitcases and kids We asked to have another table further away the traffic. The hostess was not pleased. She placed us after 10 min of excuses. And the place was empty at all time! The pastries were supposed from a famous chef, Mr. Cédric Goslet. There were 8 pieces in three trays. Two of them , chocolate stuffed with cheeses in the form of fruit, cherry and peach, were excellent, delicious and artful. Likely the work of the chef. The others, 2 scone muffins, 1 salty salmon bagel bite, 1 chicken sandwich, fresh berry, and red velvet cookie were supermarket grade. They could be found in other sidewalk coffee shops. The chocolate were delightful. They looked like fresh fruits, but they were cheese and chocolate, melted easily with a gulp of tea. Wonderful taste and lasting sweetness! The teas were fine. We have tasted better teas from South East Asia or Middle East. They were typical Western European teas. Our waiter was quite nice and polite. The service was however less attentive. There was a little 5 min sand clock timer. We had to wait 5-7 min for tea fully soaked. Well for all these, $100 per person was a little difficult to swallow ( no punt intended). It was surely one time only experience
Be the first to ReplyI may have come when the B team was on.
I was not impressed at all. The restaurant boasts 3 Michelin Stars and on this visit I wouldn't give them more than 2 stars....Upon entering we were greeted by a nice hostess who said follow me this way and then was instructed to take coats and disappeared. We waited 10 min (no kidding) and then reproached the stand and a different lady then told us we had no reservations?!? Did the other delete it or make an advance seating? I don't know but that was strike oneI will break it down below to show exactly my review.Service 2 starsMore than 11 I counted on the floor with NO MANGER to be seen. How do I know this? I own 56 restaurants in United States and it's in my blood but I'll get to that. (Yes I'm American but don't judge)These folks openly seemed to disagree and fly on their own through service. Front waiter/back waiter was non existent! Only back waiter remained.I poured water & wine for my table. Several times towards the end of service they started to stop me but let's be fair, at 600a+ euro that just shouldn't happen. Bread service was lacking but they did serve it when asked. Also, this is important....they had no supervisor delegating to staff-Look at that tables plate maintenance They need waterThey need more wineThe need their table crumbedIn fine dining that's 101 and should be happening. Very bad overall experience in a service that should have been stainless. They did career to my children so that's why it's 2 and not 1. (So we have kids so we don't deserve service?) let me remind you 600 euro....Food 3 StarsThey did an average job here. The Chefs gift was a great start but it fizzled after that. We had the crusted crab -1 star for taste/too dry. 3 stars plate presentation (liked the flowers) 2 star for overall dish. Should have been better-sunflower seeds? As an Escoffier/CIA graduate and TA I can assure you that is not "modern cooking" that is guessing. The oysters where oysters- not shucked and with a regular mignonette. Fresh but Underwhelmed to say the least. Seaweed bed on Bamboo interesting though 3 starsFrench onion soup- no broth and Luke warm- 2 starsKids- pasta- no sauce and dried Parmesan on the side . Are you kidding? That was a solid 1 star ( my 4 year old could have made that better) yes, he is still a paying guest and not a brush over Kid Fish- good plate but very bland. Tartar was good and fresh 3 starsFilet of Steak- Plate was ok. Potatoes were perfect and the texture touch on the top was stellar. Meat was cooked right and was warm, flavoring was missing and there was no seasoning. (I know there wasn't. Not even S& P) so dipping sauces were needed and very tasty when applied this was a solid 3 starsDessert This was were good showed up!!!! The hazelnut and orange dessert was pure excellence. 5 stars all the way! I will be stealing that orange dessert for sure, texture, flavor and color we're bang on! Couldn't have done it better. Escoffier would have been proud of this. His motto has always been do not change the shape of the food and here was no exception. This pastry chef is the only reason this restaurant deserves any stars. Well done! If your in America look me up, I'll be the best paying employer for sure my feelings are that they use him on a consulting basis at this point but staff say he is on site. (Just not today lol)Wine was good but wine list is SADLY LACKING! If I saw my favorites I would have gladly paid 500+ but your list is a limited version of a small street corner bistro. People need to be wowed not given the bare minimum 2 Stars is generous here. The burgundy was good but not amazing but purchase price was appropriate Cocktail- Manhattan 2 stars as there was a fly in it and the BT should have seen that. Then followed by the server....it happens in our business but recovering is key, took them 14 min to return another one and it went through 4 people and ended up staying in the station deck until the back water realized that was mine and brought it. In my opinion, he was the ONOY ONE on his game and the rest seemed unorganized and not engaged. There is the reasons why I say there was no management presence on the floor. I demand positive engagement of my people and if they can't they don't belong working on my businesses. This isn't an employee issue this is a chef/management issue. Fix it guys! I know most of your guests don't see what I see but I can tell ownership that if this is not a B TEAM problem then you are definitely losing money with this poor performance. My family of 4 usually spends over 1000 euro on these types of nights out. You were my lowest spend this trip. I hope this review is looked at constructively and not as damning. I really believe their is talent there if it's managed properly. Merci
Be the first to ReplyWorst service and over priced for sub par high tea.
Take your money elsewhere and have a better French tea experience. Sandwiches are old, tea is bland and the waitresses think they are too good to do anything. It's a tourist trap.

Having just landed and in need of a light bite we headed to Le Dali, not to mention the desire to sample the dessert creations of Cedric Grolet. In keeping with the high standards of the Meurice Le Dali is a wonderful respite for a most relaxing and enjoyable lite bite.Expensive, without question, however it reminds me of the classic old world French dining experience!
Be the first to ReplyThe tea service was supremely disappointing.
The friend I was with started crying at the table she was so disappointed. First, I made the reservation online about a month ahead for 4pm. When I confirmed that morning it had changed to 415. Ok. No problem. We get there at 4 because we think we can have a look around and wait in this supposed gorgeous hotel. The hostess was extremely rude. Was like why are you here so early? Huh? Really? She tells us to wait and come back at 415. We do and she goes ugh you're really on time huh? Um yes... we are. We stand there waiting another 10 min. Now I understand the room not being ready. That's fine. But tell us. Second, the tea was underwhelming. We didn't get our tea in a timely fashion because we had champagne first, so at one point we didn't have anything to drink (including water). The only one sandwich was good and the one was almost inedible. The "scones" weren't even warm and the desserts were gross. Like actually nasty tasting. Shocked. Just shocked. The service is quite lacking. And cleanliness was a factor. If this is a 5 star hotel with luxury service, why aren't the carpets clean? My local salad buffet restaurant cleans the floor after each table has cleared, I shouldn't see the large amount of food and trash on the floor that I saw at this restaurant and hotel. The rouge bourbon was some of the best rooibos tea I've ever had though. There's that.
Be the first to Reply#paris #france #lemercuriehotel Wow.
The food was super overpriced and had no idea that bad. Are you sure the you guys are 5 starred hotel? 35€ for one sandwich. You'd better be delicious. Elclair was pretty good though. Romantic and classic vibe.
Be the first to ReplyLe Meurice has the most exceptional service in allof Paris.
The quality of their pastries were unmatched, which is quite expected considering they were constructed to perfection by their award-winning pastry chef, Cedric Golet. What really made the experience one of a kind was that a pastry chef would walk around Le Dali and offer complimentary and freshly baked goods (they were still warm from the oven) such as exquisite and perfectly baked Brioche and madeleines. Le Meurice offer the best service I think one can find in all of Paris, with its welcoming, honest, and generous servers. Not to mention that each one of them is exceptionally well-trained. I will be returning to Le Meurice and specifically, to Le Dali for more tea time the next time I visit Paris. Or, I will have to solely make a trip to Paris, just for Le Meurice. No other place comes even close to comparison!

We went for afternoon tea, a very classy place with attentive and accommodating service. From the minute we were greeted to being seated, service was spot on. We were 3 in our party and each planning to order the full tea/scones/sandwiches individually but the server suggested 2 servings would be more than enough, it certainly was and saved us some money. Would highly recommend Le Dali Meurice Hotel for a memorable dining experience!

I booked Sunday Brunch at Alain Ducasse's Le Dali, because I'd read it is a "must-do" in Paris. When booking, the concierge had relayed my food issues, so, after being seated in this magnificent dining room, the server acknowledged my special requirements then escorted me to the buffet where we were met by the chef. Together, they walked me through the various options, advising me on what I should avoid. Yeah, really. They then referred to the entree menu (it comes with brunch,) advising me in the same fashion, this time following with, "but the chef can prepare something special - off the menu - for you." Yeah, seriously. In my experience, most restaurants seem inconvenienced by my restrictions, so I have grown accustomed to making do with what's available and self-editing my meal as necessary. So, when a restaurant goes to such great lengths to ensure my dining experience is personalized and, therefore, exceptional, I must shout it from the mansard rooftops!Only twice before have restaurants been so elegantly accommodating, and both are Thomas Keller Michelin-starred favorites in Napa. His biography reveals that his culinary training was distinctly Parisian, apprenticing at Guy Savoy (I'm dining there on Tuesday,) and various Michelin-starred restaurants. Perhaps it's a French thing? Or, is it the Michelin stars?Whatever it is, I'm just now understanding the real difference between places like this and other upscale/high-end restaurants. The latter are all ego: gorgeous and exclusive representations of themselves. Whereas rare jewels like Le Dali, equally if not more gorgeous and exclusive, are humble in that its impeccable delivery is motivated, solely, by the experience of its patrons (whilst maintaining its celebrated identity.)The world at large could definitely use less ego and more humility ;)The food, by the way, was outstanding. The duck was absolutely exquisite.Bon appétit!
Be the first to ReplyTea time:I came here for tea time.
48euro per person, which is inexpensive! Make a reservation and be on time. Delicious and filling. They have live jazz on some nightsLunch (skip it):expensive (mediocre) and will never have lunch here again. 40usd for a chicken sandwich and 42usd for a chicken caesar salad. this one takes the cake for being outrageously priced. chances are, you'll leave hungry. They redeemed themselves during tea time.Service? hit or miss
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful restaurant with exceptional service.
Great way to share small plates, great wine list, friendly attentive staff and great ambience. You can choose from half portions to full size, great way to taste different plates they offer. The desert choices were wonderful-- I wanted to have everything!
Be the first to ReplyMy friend and I wanted to have a high tea experience in
My friend and I wanted to have a high tea experience in Paris, and after careful consideration we chose Le Dali. It was easy to make a weekday reservation through Trip Advisor, and we had our hotel confirm over the phone. We were slightly early for our 3:30 res and were invited to wait in the pretty sitting area off the lobby. The dining room is beautiful; it's decorated in Dali-inspired style (without bordering on creepy) and has fun touches like mis-matched plates and chairs at the tables. We each did the €48 high tea, which included the following:+ selection of four sandwiches+ selection of two scones+ selection of three desserts+ pot of any tea Everything was just delicious, and we could barely finish the desserts. Service was a little sparse, but hey, it's Paris, and the waiter was friendly when we did see him. I would absolutely recommend Le Dali for a high tea at a more reasonable price than many other places. Exactly what we wanted!
Be the first to ReplyI had lunch at the place.
The ambience and service are second to none. Very relaxed environment and its the ideal spot to relax after a morning walking around the area. The quality of the food does not really match the place; it's dry and felt like it was precooked and reheated before it was served.
