Exceptionel Evening
No doubt Kristian Baumann and team is running for the 3rd Michelin star - and it will be well deserved when he gets it! The food is like nowhere else in Copenhagen and the combination of colors, flavors and textures is fascinating and the taste is amazing. On a personal note I would not recommend the wine paring menu. It start well but then it turns into orange wine, champagne (again) and to alternate dessert wines. Go for the winelist. I love the 100% open kitchen and the idea of couples facing the kitchen. The service is super professional, yet relaxed and the choreography is to perfection.
Simply fantastic
We had looked forward to try this Korean restaurant, not quite knowing what to expect. From we entered the restaurant till we left we were treated by a very friendly and polite staff. The “main man” Kristian Baumann was very present and came by our table several times. The food itself was delicious very tasty and with an explosion of flavors and colors. Its too difficult to explain so I recommend you go try it yourself. I found (unfortunately) that I in the end ran out of space and had to leave the Petit Four behind even though they according to my wife were fantastic. Many great dishes and as we are not desert people its rare that we will highlight the Hazelnut Oolong with Caviar as the best dish, and this is not to take anything away from the fantastic other dishes.
Incredible Dining Experience
I wasn't sure what to expect when we dined at Koan but it was one of the BEST fine dining experiences that my husband and I have ever had. Each course was incredible, unexpected, and exciting!! The staff were very friendly and attentive. If you enjoy fine dining do not miss this incredibly memorable dining experience!! The Chef is very friendly and the restaurant will provide dining and sightseeing recommendations upon request, which we greatly appreciated.
Phenomenal - again! 🌟
Second time at Koan, but first in the new location. We had an absolutely fantastic evening with attentive first class service and some of the best food in the world! A minor hiccup was that I did not much like the ribeye serving. I might be mistaken, but at least my meat seemed quite chewy. We had so much extraordinarily good food that we were totally full by the end of this fantastic meal. I can very highly recommend Koan!
High expectations, High recommendation to visit Koan
We are a family of three dining 2-3 yearly at a Michelin restaurant. We had been looking very much forward to visiting you. We had high expectations. We REALLY enjoyed the food and the beautiful Korean porcelain. Most of all, we enjoyed the intimate atmosphere and that the staff smiled and had eye contact with each other. You are very professional, but you get the feeling that you have a nice working environment. We appreciated that it was more casual and relaxed. Thank you a very nice evening
On a way to 3 stars
Location is very nice, and interior too. There were 3 prestige champagne you could choose to have with amuse bouche. Somehow amuse bouche in Koan were not anything special. They were not bad but rather insignificant. On the other hand, everything after it was great! Tofu & caviar was the best caviar dish ever! Oyster & king crab was very, very good. Doughnut bread was excellent. Pork meat biscuit with black truffle was rather interesting. Steak was good but standard. Lobster, rice & black truffle was excellent. Sorbet with yuzy/limoncello was especially good. Seaweed soufflé, ice-cream & caviar was perfect. Petit four & coffee was a great end to the evening. Service was very friendly and professional.
Korean cuisine at its best!
It is an iconic place where Korean dishes are prepared on highest levels! There is a 17 course tasting menu with optional drinks pairings. Great service and inspiring atmosphere!
The best dining experience we've ever had!
This was hands down the best dinner experience we have ever had. From the moment we walked in to when we left, we were made to feel like royalty and the service was really exceptional without being stuffy. The food needs no review - it is every bit deserving of the 2 Michelin stars and more and I enjoyed trying a lot of new things that I wouldn't have ordinarily thought of being paired together. We loved how the chef came out to introduce and tell us about the dishes and each one was also beautiful in addition to being tasty. I hope many people come to enjoy your restaurant as it is a great experience and well worth a visit!
The best dining experience I’ve ever had.
I would like to preface this review with the fact that this is my first Michelin star restaurant. In fact it is a 2 Michelin star restaurant. The building is covert. You wouldn’t know it was there if not for GPS. Our taxi was confused when we asked to be dropped off here. As we made our way towards what looked like a door we were greeted outside and welcomed in, our coats were taken and hanged up. I’m not going to describe every course because I don’t possess an elegant enough vocabulary to do it justice. What I can say, is that every course was phenomenal and they seemed to keep coming. If you plan to attend, I do not recommend drinking before hand. They will have plenty of pairings to get you sufficiently warm. Every drink paired seamlessly with the dishes served, and every serving was explained with interesting and fascinating detail. If I was forced at gunpoint to name a favorite dish, it would be the porridge, but everything stands on its own. Every single staff member treated us as if we were royalty. If you got up to use the restroom, somebody opened the door for you while another refolded your napkin. I wish I had a larger platform to share this restaurant with because everyone should try it. Though he never identified as such, the head chef, Kristian Baumann visited every single table multiple times either serving dishes, explaining them, or just checking on his patrons. He was extremely personable and gave us a handpicked document with recommendations for the rest of our journey in Copenhagen. I hope this review finds some interested souls who wish to experience expert dining. This experience will certainly stand with me and I hope I am able to attend again in future travels. Cheers.
What an amazing evening was had.
This place was a last minute change prior to our trip to Copenhagen and so glad we did. This was our first 17 course tasting menu experience with pairing, and we weren’t disappointed. We were informed by one of the Sommeliers, the history of Chef Kristian Baumann, and how he only started his concept, Koan in 2020 with a pop up. He finally moved to his new location in April and got his 2nd Star in 2023. We can see why. From the moment you are lead into the space,( and what an incredible space it is), we knew we were in for a dining experience like no other. This was a first for us, not known what was on the 17 course menu but we think it added to the experience. Now let me start by saying, throughout the 5 hrs, plus experience, the team at Koan, were engaging but not too intrusive, informative ( it appears everyone understands every dish, no matter who served it to the table), and offered where truly there to ensure you had an experience never to be forgotten. I will let the pics justify the evening, that words alone can’t. I might come back later to provide a more detail commentary. Truely worthy of its 2 star status Thank you Team Koan.

* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* ElaborateHouse74, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* ElaborateHouse74 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to ElaborateHouse74 for any questions Peter may have as ElaborateHouse74 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* ElaborateHouse74 now uses their connections at Restaurant Koan København to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If ElaborateHouse74 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, ElaborateHouse74 receives the $200 reward which is credited to ElaborateHouse74's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Restaurant Koan København!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
