Expensive and not worth it!
Absolutely ridiculous, this place nickel-and-dimes like nobody's business! For context, we had a group of 8 people who went to celebrate a friend's birthday. We carried our own cake due to dietary restrictions, and the restaurant said they'll charge 5 bucks per person for serving the cake. We said okay we'll cut it ourselves, but they won't even let us do that due to some "insurance" hazard, which btw we offered to use butter knives to do, so how is that even a thing! On top of that, we ordered some food which felt bland, so we asked for some hot sauce (which has been a complementary staple in most Mexican restaurants I've been to). They gave 3 tiny bowls of hot sauce and charged money for EACH when most of them weren't even used! What's more- we ordered Sprite, and it was watered down lemon soda at best. It was a bad experience!
Be the first to ReplyVERY GOOD food with a cool ambience and on-the-ball wait staff!
SUMMARY. Came here over Thanksgiving weekend with my family while in town for the holiday. Was very pleased. Food was very good and staff was super nice and accommodating. Highly recommend. RESERVATION. We had a large party (8), so we made reservations a week or two out. AMBIENCE. Ambience was great. Very tall ceilings with tastefully chic decor and a lively atmosphere (with no excessive noise). Definitely a pleasurable dining experience. QUALITY. Quality was very good. Opted for the hanger steak, which I HIGHLY recommend. Additionally, I ordered two spicy margs which were absolutely incredible. SERVICE. Service was spot-on. Very nice staff, never waited long for anything. VALUE. I cannot speak to the value, as I live in Nashville and do not have a good grasp on value in terms of Bay Area prices. TAKEAWAYS. GREAT place. Delicious food with great ambience and polite/efficient staff. Can't go wrong! Happily, Clayton Cohn

Not sure what happened to this restaurant. This is my third time here, and was expecting more. Came on a Sunday, not particularly busy. Service was very slow. Waiter was distracted. Food was very average. Dessert was terrible. Considering the prices you pay here, they need to reconsider how they are running this business.

We were in the mood for Mexican food and thought this place looked quaint and interesting. But the margaritas are meh and the food is pretty lousy. There are many better options in Palo Alto.

We went to Reposado after a long time and sat outside on the pavement which was a bit cramped. In the past I found the insides very noisy and the outside wasn’t that comfortable with Hamilton Avenue traffic and Ambulances etc made it quite noisy. We started of with the Cadillac Margaritas. No more pitchers but two sizes and we got the large one which was 24.50 and seemed light on the Tequila. One of us had the virgin Tamarind Margarita which was quite good. We had the Guacamole and Chips , the Enselada Reposado ( ok) Datiles Rellenos ( bacon wrapped dates were good but only 2) . For the entrees we shared Costilla ( short rib was tender but very small piece) Salmon Yucatán ( salmon was excellent) Pollo Rostisado con Mole( chicken in Mole sauce was excellent too) . Accompanied by some sides Elote Asado( corn on the cob) Cilantro Jalapeño Potato ( was good but not very crispy) Quesadilla . For dessert we had a banana bread pudding which came with a cornbread base and a dollop of vanilla ice cream. I just find that post Covid all prices seem to have doubled and service has declined. Some of both is to be expected

Our reservation was booked for outdoor dining for two on Mother’s Day. We arrived promptly for our 5:30 reservation. We were seated immediately. It was a lovely day to sit outdoors and we were given a shady table, was perfect. Menus were provided immediately. We ordered two appetizers , also we each had a margarita which we enjoyed. Both appetizers came out together and very rapidly. The guacamole was fine, I’ve enjoyed better though. The stuffed dates wrapped with bacon were incredible. For Entres we had the rack of lamb which came with cilantro mashed potatoes. Both delicious, I ordered the half chicken with mole sauce which came with roasted veggies, so incredibly moist. The entrees were very large and we had leftovers of each to bring home. Unfortunately after we finished our entrees , the staff was too busy and did not return! When our waiter returned and brought the check he actually never asked us if we were interested in dessert. The meal was enjoyed by both of us. Actually we were too full for dessert and we certainly understand that Mothers Day is one of the busiest restaurant days of the year.
Be the first to ReplyFancy Mex - I never thought I'd love it!
I love Mexican food, but I wasn't excited about "fancy Mexican"...but I was wrong! It was DELICIOUS - awesome, creamy sauces but not heavy. Excellent Margaritas too. Dinner for 2 was $100.
Be the first to ReplyOverrated and overpriced
I was really disappointed. I would say that the food is just ok. Average Mexican, that's all. I was annoyed when my main meal arrived about 2 minutes after my appetizer, which I had only just started on. When the check arrived, I just thought that it was way too much for what I'd had. Yes, I understand that it's a pricey neighborhood but even taking that into account it was just very poor value.

Once you get over the vibe and the sticker shock of some of the items - this is the heart of Silicon Valley after all - you will have many choices to look over. The vegetarian choices were excellent, and anything with mole. Can be noisy, but there's a mezzanine section if you don't need to be seen.
