Rasika is to die for! Everything i've ever had here is incredible and totally worth it. I absolutely recommend coming here if you want a wonderful meal.
Be the first to ReplyI had the pleasure of dining at Rasika on Thursday, April
I had the pleasure of dining at Rasika on Thursday, April 11th for dinner around 7:30 pm. My birthday was 1 night before & so my husband decided to celebrate. As we got there, we were seated at a small 2 person table even though there were other 2-person diners seated at a bigger table. Nevertheless, it didn't bother me that much. I looked around & did notice a celebrity dining right next us, which was SO cool. He was in modern family :) I didn't go up to him, but just being in their presence was an experience within itself. To start off, we ordered the Nectar of Soma - gin based, which was so good but so strong! My husband ordered a beer. We also started off with the palak chaat (ended up getting 2), and it was SOO delicious. I'm still dreaming about this! My husband also ordered a lamb dish which he liked but it was too filling and he couldn't finish it (also, I'm vegetarian so couldn't help him). For dinner, we ordered the tandoori salmon, which my husband loved & paneer mirch ka salan, which I did not like at all. The paneer was good but didn't like whatever the gravy was. I know now in the future to fill up on the appetizers, as there were more I wanted to try. All in all, a great dinner and I would come back!
Be the first to ReplyWe loved the food here! As Indians that live in Denver
We loved the food here! As Indians that live in Denver where there is no good Indian food, we knew we had to try Rasika when visiting DC based on reviews/friends' recommendations. It did NOT disappoint! We ordered the palak chaat, chicken tikka masala, bhindi, dal makhani, raita, garlic naan and laccha paratha. Everything was very tasty, and we LOVED that you can order half portions (and it was still plenty for 2 people). The star of the meal was the palak chaat. Very unique and light as air. Highly recommend. Service was incredible, and the ambiance was lovely.

A group of us had a reservation for April of 2020 when we were going to be in town for a meeting....and, well...we actually got to eat here in April of 2024! A colleague texted me to see if I was watching "Somebody Feed Phil" on Netflix and his visit to Rasika reminded us we needed to make a reservation for dinner during our upcoming meeting. I would definitely recommend making a reservation; on a Tuesday night around 6PM they were already full and so we were very glad we had a reservation. We went with the 4 course tasting menu since everything sounded good and we couldn't narrow down options on our own. There were really 5 courses if you count the amuse bouche, and everything was delicious. The amuse bouche included a sweet potato samosa and lentil bite; both were excellent. The next courses included the palak chaat, which lived up to the high expectations we had based on all the rave reviews of this dish. The flavors and textures really made this a dish you'll keep thinking about for awhile because it is so good. The next course of scallops was also delicious. The sauce did not overpower the scallops and the crispy rice noodles added a nice texture element. The main course included 4 dishes. While all were delicious, the dal was the surprise standout here; my friend described it as "life changing" and requested a dispenser of this be installed in her house. The chicken tikka masala was excellent as well and we enjoyed the cauliflower and lamb dishes too. The naan was fresh and perfect. We didn't do the wine pairings, and just went with single beverages; there is a really nice selection of wine by the glass and good non-alcoholic selections as well. Dessert included a sampling of cardamom ice cream, fried apple, and gulab jamun. All were good, but the cardamom ice cream was the standout. Service was excellent and our server knew the menu and all the dishes well. Courses were nicely paced so we weren't rushed. The ambiance is classy; we were glad we didn't come in dressed too casually, but were fine in business casual attire. Noise level is a little high when the restaurant is full, but similar to everywhere in DC. Prices are similar to other nice restaurants in DC, so we considered cost reasonable given quality and geographic location. We will definitely be back to try more things and to get the dal and palak chaat again.

My family and I did a walk in, so we got seated at the bar instead of a table (so be sure to make reservations in advance)! We ordered the Samosa Chaat and Purple Potato Dosa, which were both very tasty and well presented. We also ordered Garlic Naan, Paneer Makhani and Makhana Kaju Kofta. The Kaju Kofta had too much Cardamom flavor for my liking. The paneer makhani could also have used some more spice. But, again, presentation was great. We also tried the mango mocktail and it was delicious! The dessert was also very tasty, it included some of the best chocolate mint ice cream I've had. Our server was also very nice and the food came out fairly quickly.
Be the first to ReplyModern swanky almost lounge atmosphere.
Excellent transitional Indian food. Fish was excellent but ordering multiple appetizers is recommended. Especially the spinach. Docking a star because if it's busy they don't seem well organized. Try to go on a weekday when there's not much going on downtown.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Indian restaurant in DC with an upscale ambiance.
My friend and I came on a packed weeknight and managed to get a couple seats at the bar. Tried the palak chaat (crispy spinach, highly recommended), Kolkata lamb roll, crab pepper masala, red snapper polichattu, and lamb roganjosh. All featured a great mixture of memorable flavors. The Mumbai Manhattan is also delicious. Service was friendly and attentive - I recommend it for anyone in the area.
Be the first to ReplyFor the price, food was not best Indian food.
Only the appetizers were enjoyed by our party.

2nd best upscale Indian food I have had in the US!!! It makes sense why this place is packed to the brim. We went in on a Saturday without a reservation. I really recommend a reservation. We were lucky enough to get seats at the bar. Usually the service at a bar is iffy, but this time the service was phenomenal! Hats off to Shiva, who was seriously such a crucial part of why this was such an epic experience. He made excellent recommendations and also gave us a taste of an amazing cocktail, the Kamini (order if you are intrigued by spiced gin!) We had the tasting menu which was SOOOOO good and perfect for sharing between two people (which they will let you do as long as you order one more thing... I recommend getting an extra order of the palak chaat). My favorites of the night: - the star of the show is the palak chaat! - loved the chili fish! Beautifully cooked and the sauce is nuanced! - dal is usually dal but OMG the Dal Dungharee is TO DIE FOR! The rest of the tasting menu was also very well prepared. Meat quality is high. I also enjoyed their IPA and their Eggenberg Pilsner!

I went to this restaurant in the DMV area on my friend's recommendation. One cool thing is it's one of Obama's fave spots! The vibe was awesome, and our server was super helpful. We tried a bunch of appetizers like avocado banana chat, purple potato dosa, sev batata puri, spicy reshmi kabab, and palak chat. Sev batata puri was a hit, we got seconds! Purple potato dosa was interesting and good. I would not recommend Avocado banana chat, I did not like the taste of it. For mains, we had dal makhani, achari baingan, and butternut squash bharta. The Dal Makhani emerged as a clear favorite, delighting us with its rich and comforting flavors. A standout feature is the option to order mains as side dishes, allowing us to explore a variety of flavors without committing to full portions at half a price. We had some bread too--mint parantha, butter nan, and garlic nan. All fresh, but the mint parantha was a standout. And we tried their P&T punch, a spirit-free drink, which was fantastic. Overall, I definitely recommend this place!!!!
Be the first to ReplyDo not go here, worst drinks ever worst food and they don't
Do not go here, worst drinks ever worst food and they don't allow kids indoors. I mean really in this cold weather like how a family can sit outside -1 degree Celsius! Reallllllyyyyyy!!! Worst place ever!!! Upon that they charged for parking $15 like we parked for literally for 20 Mins, I mean this place is just ripping off money! Do not recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyWe saw Rasika on the show Somebody Feed Phil so I put it on
We saw Rasika on the show Somebody Feed Phil so I put it on our list of places to try when visiting DC. I eat vegan and my husband vegetarian and there are plenty of options on the menu. The restaurant is an easy walk from the National Mall, we ended up eating here twice in five days- it's that good! Our first time we came for lunch and the second time we arrived around 5pm for an early dinner. Both visits we got seated immediately. Very elegant dining room, dimly lit with white linen service. Knowledgeable attentive wait staff. We liked that there are many small plate options perfect for sharing and entrees can be ordered in appetizer and full portions. The Palak Chaat was tasty, crispy baby spinach with a yogurt tamarind dressing and date chutney. Beside this dish on our two visits we tried - Ragda Pattice- spiced potatoes with chickpeas and tamarind date mint chutney Avocado Banana Chaat with date and tamarind chutney Tawa Balingen- eggplant medallions with sliced potatoes and peanut sauce Purple Potato Dosa Butternut Squash Bharta - smoky with onions, tomatoes and walnuts And for dessert we tried the black sticky rice pudding with cardamom ice cream and edible silver We enjoyed every dish, but would say the avocado banana chaat and dessert were our favorites because of how unique they are. We enjoyed everything about this restaurant and will definitely go again whenever we are in DC.
Be the first to ReplyThis was my first time visiting Rasika after many years.
Very good experience on a snowy evening . We booked a reservation a couple of days prior and instantly got seated inside when we arrived. It also has a outside patio seating. I'd give 5/5 for the service and ambience. Very sophisticated, inviting vibe. Our server was very attentive, gave us great food recommendations. The presentation was fantastic. We shared the following appetizers: 1. Palak Chat: 5/5 2. Spicy Reshmi Kebab: 5/5 3. Cashew lemon rice 4.5/5 The Palak Chaat was one of the most unique, delicious dishes I've ever tried. Fried spinach. I know, right? But this reading that was so crisp and just perfect. Then the delicious sauce and garnish. It was incredible. It doesn't sound fancy. It doesn't look fancy but the textures and flavors are phenomenal. I got the 3 meat platter. The salmon had a light almost nutty savory flavor that reminded me of pumpkin. The salmon 2as perfectly cooked. The chicken was amazing. For the mains, we ordered mutton roganjosh. It was rich curry that was simply heaven in each bite. Definitely stood out as my fav. Mutton cooked well but disappointed in its flavours a little bit as it was sweet. The mains don't come with rice so I had to order garlic naan.

Restaurant manager, Mr Santosh went above and beyond to accommodate our seating requests, whenever I visit here am made to feel like family, this has been my favourite restaurant in DC for the past decade. Food and service are exemplary as well.
Be the first to ReplyWe were visiting from out of town, and Rasika came highly
We were visiting from out of town, and Rasika came highly recommended. We had the crab pepper masala, mixed grill, and black cod, along with the truffle oil naan and chilli pepper naan, with gin fizz cocktail to accompany. The food and drink were quite good - though the food was waiting on a service table for a few minutes and not quite as hot as it should have been. Also we asked for hot water, and the server brought out a tea pot which had clearly not been fully rinsed. We finally had some leftover rice, so we asked for some raita. We had to ask three times before it finally came out. So we are singing Rasika for the service, though our waiter was quite nice.
Be the first to ReplyThe palak chaat.
The palak chaat! Have celebrated 2 special occasions here and have been completely satisfied every time. The food is amazing. Ask your server about the house specialties if you're unsure where to begin. Amazing professional and friendly service. It's pricey, but for good reason. I recommend ordering 2-3 dishes with naan if you're a party of 2. The portions aren't enormous, so try out a few new things and split the check if you're on a budget. I usually dress up a little when I come here -- the ambiance is nicer approaching on business casual in the evening.
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance is excellent.
I have been to the other location in DC but this one is even better. The food was hot, tasty and rich. I wouldn't say their quantity is bit but is good enough.
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot to go with a group for Indian food.
It had a great selection. The chicken biryani is where they really shined. It was spot on. Loved the shrimp curry. The lamb roll was OK and so was the Tika sampler plate. The table they offered us was in the back literally stuck behind a pillar. Not the best seat for sure (although we didn't have reservations).
Be the first to ReplyRasika is an elegant, high end restaurant with high-quality
Rasika is an elegant, high end restaurant with high-quality food in sizable portions. I was here for a work event, and the waiters didn't let anyone's glass empty. The food was outstanding. Only after did I find out Obama had a birthday here. Not shocking. We all are and drank our hearts out. Located downtown, this place is a worth a visit.
Be the first to ReplyRasika is a delicious Indian culinary experience in Penn
Rasika is a delicious Indian culinary experience in Penn Quarter that is packed full of unique flavors with every bite. Went for dinner with friends after work and we were excited to dive into some of Rasika's popular favorites ranging from the Palak Chaat, Tomato Lamb Curry, Raan-e-Rasika (lamb mince shank), and their famous cod. The Palak Chaat was crispy and fresh. It reminded me of the delicious flavors of Bhel Puri with vegetables and dahi (yogurt) mixed in. The Raan-e-Rasika was phenomenal. If you are a lamb lover, you'll be practically licking the plate clean with how tasty the masala, curry, and lamb meat compliments one another right off the bone. I can best describe it as savory without being greasy. Anyone from an Indian household knows how difficult that is to master! The true star of the show is the Black Cod! It was the perfect blend with notes of garlic-ginger paste, yogurt, and chili under a bed of soft, pillowy potatoes. One of the best seafood dishes I've ever had - worth every penny! To drink we had the Mumbai Manhattan (love the name!) and the Nectar of Sonoma. Both were strong and paired well with the Indian fusion flavors of the meal. As for service, the wait staff was speedy on a busy night. They were accommodating, kept our glasses of water full, and offered fantastic recommendations. The ambiance is dimly lit and luxurious. The color scheme of the restaurant is soothing and intimate for a wonderful meal to share with those that mean most to you :) Rasika will go down as one of my favorite spots in DC!
Be the first to ReplyI dined at Rasika and found the food decent but not
I dined at Rasika and found the food decent but not exceptional. The ambiance was nice, but the service was a bit slow. While it may be worth considering for a pleasant dining experience, those seeking more authentic or flavorful Indian cuisine may want to explore other options.
Be the first to ReplySo good.
I always eat too much when we go here. Palak Chaat, the cauliflower, chicken tikka masala, eggplant stack... the list goes on. Recommend all locations.
Be the first to ReplyDined here with a large group and the family style format
Dined here with a large group and the family style format worked well. The service was excellent. To start, I recommend the Palak Chaat, this was a favorite for the entire group. We shared several entrees but the Tandoori Chicken Tikka was excellent, reminded me of my favorite spot in london! Will definitely go back for this dish!

Great authentic Indian cuisine! Had a business lunch there with a few colleagues from India and they loved it! Always crowed, best to get reservations.
Be the first to ReplyMy experience here was absolutely amazing.
I went for lunch with my coworkers (about 7 of us). We had a small private area to enjoy our meals. The waiter offered suggestions and gave amazing service. All of the waiters that assisted with pouring water and bringing our food were so friendly. The palat chaat (crispy spinach) was my favorite dish. I enjoyed the mixed grill... it was the perfect portion sizes of chicken, salmon, and lamb. It was all very flavorful. I plan on visiting again.
