YUCK!!! the Food is NOT GOOD - GREASY & BLAND and $$$$$
Every bite was a mouthful of OIL!! Who wants to eat oily greasy "thousand layer bread" Nothing like the photos! We spent over $90+ for TWO people & tried many of their dishes. So disappointing. The items were NOT prepared Fresh nor did they taste FRESH. The food was BLAND (no complex homemade cooking flavor). I feel terrible writing such a negative review on small business like this one - but I hope it will save another family $100+ of WASTED money especially now-a-days. Not worth it!!! There is too much GOOD quality competition close to this restaurant. Maybe if their prices were 70% less then maybe you could justify what we ordered!

Best Burmese food in Philadelphia! Of course I don't think there is another Burmese restaurant, but this is still great food and good prices. Tasty Prathay and Burmese noodles, tasty (but mushy) chicken and squash. Ample portions.

Really enjoyed a lunch special at Rangoon. I had the Lemongrass Beef Curry which is marinated beef chunks, lemongrass and potatoes cooked in curry sauce with vegetable fried rice. The service was extremely friendly and personable for take-out and prices very reasonable. There are many other items on the menu I would like to try so I will certainly be back for more.

We wanted to celebrate Chinese New Year, but didn't want to endure the chow hall ambiance of the dim-sum palaces - fortunately we discovered Rangoon! Rangood offers Chinese- Indian - fusion dishes. Everything we ordered came quickly, came accurately, and came hot. And absolutely delicious!! Shrimp Curry, a noodle dish with chicken and scallions - and some delicious satay for a starter. The staff is efficient, friendly, helpful, and accurate re: spices vs hotness. A limited choice of beer and wine, but prices were very fair for a restaurant. We'll be returning to Rangoon soon; there are some interesting-looking items on the menu we want to sample!
Be the first to ReplyModified Burmese Cuisine
Our family drove all the way to Philadelphia just to try their cooking since they have good reviews. We ordered varieties of food however non of them satisfied us. I would say that they cooked very poorly and non of the food were authentic such as Mont-hin-kha, Shan noodles, tohu salads, spicy shrimp curry etc.. All of them were tasteless and very bland. Burmese food are full of flavors. Tastes are bold and have strong aromas. They modified the cuisine for easy cooking or just to target non-Burmese people? Overall it was an insult...

We got friendly service and very good meals. It's a nice place to share food with your friends. Thousand layer bread is not to be missed.
Be the first to ReplyAnother great meal here!
Came to have dinner on Xmas Eve with a friend. I have been to this restaurant before and knew what to order. I recommended the Asian tea leaf salad to my friend. He agreed to order it. He later on told me that when he heard the name he did not think very much of it but since I recommended it he was just going along with it. But then he told me once he ate it he liked it immediately. The dish is very refreshing. It's crispy, crunchy, savory and aromatic. We also ordered Ahnyh Tamin, rice fried with shrimp paste and served with sweetened pork and fried eggs and the dish was also a success. But the star dish today was the Burmese Inlay Fish. When we were still searching for an entree to order we saw the table next to us had it. We asked and then we got it. It was so good. It looks very red and therefore appeared to be spicy and hot. But on a scale from 0 to 10, I would only give it a 2.5 (in terms of heat). In terms of taste this dish would score a 8.5! Service was only a tad slow, but tolerable and worthy of the wait because of the food. The three dishes cost $50.

A big group of us went here on a busy night. The staff was great and very accommodating. Food was good, prepared well and served promptly. Large menus can be intimidating but that was not the case.
Be the first to ReplyInexpensive, but rather disappointing
The restaurant was more than half full, so not a turn-off, and I was seated and served quickly. I thought it would be nice to try some of the Burmese dishes I had when visiting there. I know Burmese food is not haut cuisine so was not expecting too much. I chose thousand layer bread and potato curry sauce, crab dumplings and Northern Burmese noodles washed down with beer. The bread was not special and the dipping sauce was more like a curry than a sauce. (And the waiter whipped it away before I'd finished). The crab dumplings were a major disappointment. Not a crab in sight, I'd venture. Tough pastry filled with what I imagine was herbed Philly cheese (appropriately). The noodles were also a disappointment. I decided to round it off with sweet mango rice. That at least was as I remember it from Myanmar.

I'm in town for business but was looking for a really good affordable place for dinner and Rangoon delivered. I had the Burmese wantons and Festival Rice. The flavors were amazing and the service was great. Highly recommend it.
