Disappointing….
We have visited this restaurant several times. During our last visit we were very disappointed. Average reception, bad advice from the waiter on the wine. The dishes chosen were tasteless and disappointing. There were three of us, two shared starters and the third ordered a main…. They were unable to serve us at the same time despite our explanations of departure and our complaints... Why is this restaurant listed as Michelin on TripAdvisor, when its citation dates back to 2020?
Be the first to ReplyA very nice expensive Greek restaurant
Expensive and very crowded seating, but very good food and service. These are additional 33 characters used as fillers.

Beautiful venue. Lovely service. Pretty food. Price was great. My issue was that the salmon was dry and the mousse dessert was ordinary, in my opinion.

fantastic discovery, very nice place, delicious food and excellent service. Competitive prices. Highly recommended
Be the first to ReplyGood restaurant and very pleasant staff
Very nice inside, typical and elegant. Tables perhaps a little too close together, I could hear the table next to me more than my wife's voice in front. Exquisite food, absolutely worth the appetizer with the three sauces and the pita, really good. The meatballs were slightly charred on the top but good. Then we chose a dish that was supposed to be noodles with prawns and instead they looked like small cut noodles and not the noodles you would expect, but still pleasant and tasty. Competent, smiling and very attentive staff. I count as normal for being in New York. Overall recommended to spend a pleasant evening with good food.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome Greek fish
Fabulous dinner at the serving table with other unknown guests which was delightful! Started off with warm pita, Greek salad with tomatoes that were over the top delicious! Then grilled octopus lightly seasoned and grilled. We shared a full whole fish grill seasoned to perfection! I have never tried Greek wine but glad I did! Very light crisp white wine was the icing on the cake for our dinner!

I went here with my daughter for my birthday. The atmosphere is wonderful. Service was great. We ordered a hummus sample platter to start, my entree was a lamb shank. The meat was so tender it was falling off the bone. Amazing meal!
Be the first to ReplyGroup dinner was great
We had a group dinner for 14 at Pylos in June. Making the arrangements for the menu was easy, and the food, service, and ambience were superb. We recommend it highly.
Be the first to ReplyPlenty to like at Pylos
Visited Pylos on nice evening in mid April, 2023. Had a wonderful meal, outstanding and attentive service and looking forward to our next visit. Pylos is a small and intimate neighborhood spot in the Ukrainian Village part of NYC. You do have to pay attention as it’s easy to walk right past. The restaurant is quite narrow which opens up towards the back. Part of the atmospheric charm is the gazillion little clay pots hanging from the ceiling from front to back. The restaurant had a nice energy and vibe, leaning a touch on the loud side but still able to have a conversation at a comfortable level. Alexander served our table and he did an awesome job. We weren’t familiar with many of the dishes and he patiently explained the dishes we inquired about but also point out his favorites and why. We left ourselves in his hands and we’re glad we did so. I’d tell you which dishes we had but I’d misspell them for sure. We had the pita bread appetizer with Greek dipping sauces as well as the “light as air” meatballs. For the entree we had the lamb shank which was amazing if a tad large on the portion size. Not a problem for my guests but I couldn’t quite finish it. Just a really great neighborhood spot that was warm, inviting and serving delicious food.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Greek food!
Excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Pylos. Seating was cozy, and the staff was readily available to assist with shifting tables to allow the bench-side diners out. There are plenty of mirrors throughout the restaurant which help visually enhance the space. We started with gigantes, halloumi and the Greek Salad. We shared the roasted pork shank which was falling off the bone and served with savory leeks and roasted potatoes. We weren’t able to finish everything. The Greek wine was a great complement to the meal. There were so many tasty options on the dinner menu it was hard to choose. We highly recommend Pylos!
Be the first to ReplyBest Greek restaurant in NYC and it's not even close.
The setting is intimate and beautiful -the clay pots trump the big cavernous spaces you will find elsewhere. The haloumi with grapes is remarkable. Best saganaki i've ever had. The octopus is always cooked perfectly with the right amount of char. The best dish on the menu, however, is the garides ouzo -large shrimp, never overcooked, in a light tomato sauce. It's remarkable. The sad part is I lived 6 blocks away for 8 years and only started frequenting Pylos after I moved to San Diego. I'm in NYC somewhat regularly, thankfully.

We’ve been regulars here for three years, but today we discovered something new — a 7% credit card fee. Never coming back.
Be the first to ReplyGorgeous Interior Amazing Food
Ahain, another great find via TripAdvisor. The restaurant is on quite a nondescript street - we walked by it twice! But once inside - WOW. Just beautiful! Elegant decor, attentive servers and outstanding food. Our server helped with wine selection and food choices and did not lead us astray. Three of us shared: a Greek salad, Stuffed Grape Leaves, Octopus (YUM!) and each had a separate entree - I had Moussaka - so good and the others raved about their lamb chops and chicken dish. We only had room for one bite of desert but couldn't pass up the honey coated pastry! GO - this place is wonderful and certainly worthy of it's Michelin star!
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding for both food and service
Both food and service were outstanding. Staff was very helpful and attentive. The octopus was perfectly cooked, definitely ranked in the top tier. The restaurant offers tremendous value, comparing very favorably to higher priced Greek restaurants in the city.
Be the first to Reply“A very posh dinner at home during Covid”
Since this Covid-19 mess began and almost all restaurants restricted their service to only outtake service, I’ve been refraining from writing reviews. I’ll tell you: it gets so so so boring!!!! The same “exotic sushi” (not at all exotic), the same old Indian cuisine, the French, Italian, Mexican (you can fill out the rest: the entire globe).
Much to my surprise and my sudden happiness, I came across Pylos Restaurant on East 7th Street here in New York City. My goodness, how tasty! How delightful ! How well prepared! How posh!
From their extraordinary lamb (Cretan Honey braised, accompanied by black and regular carrots), to the “light as air” meat balls and taramosalata and the very special Artichoke moussaka covered in caramelized onions and 3 layers of Greek cheese…. WOW! I cannot keep on writing. I’ll be on
The phone ordering exactly the same dishes ASAP. Congrats to Pylos Restaurant
Enjoy

Awesome
We had an awesome dinner. Since it was Valentines Day they offered only a prefix menu. I had the artichoke moussaka that was extraordinarily delicious for appetizer and a chicken dish for entree that was equally delicious. Others had salads and shrimp appetizers. For dinner others had lamb chops and bass. Everyone loved their dinners. For dessert we all had phyllo triangles filled with custard...we all loved them. Our waiter was extremely competent and was able to help us out with our wine selection. I didn’t know much about Greek wines but the one we had was very good. Our whole night was one of the best times. We all enjoyed our food. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Greek restaurant!!
Pylos is one of the best Greek restaurants I've been too! Food and service were exceptional! Very nice atmosphere as well! Favorites were the meatballs and zucchini crisps as appetizers, and the pastitsio pasta. Excellent pita bread also. Portions are generous so couldn't sample dessert. Will definitely return on next trip to NYC!!
Be the first to ReplyVery Nice Greek restaurant !
Just tried this little gem of a restaurant, wow! The food was excellent as was the service! The ambiance was also very warm and comforting.

Great service Excellent food ambiance is good would return again
had nice greek wine. The waiter was key to choosing the wine. Portions are generous
so start slow and work your way into the menu. we took a bunch of plates and shared everything.
Prices are moderate especially for New York
excellent food and ambiance
I was just taken there for my birthday; there were 5 of us and we had the best meal. We ordered a whole bunch of appetizers and they were definitely appetizing. Every one of us has been to Greece and we agreed that the decor reminded us of the islands. It was just lovely. From the wine to the dessert.
Be the first to ReplyAte there this evening. Our
Ate there this evening. Our reservation was at 915 and weren’t seated until 945. The service was decent at best but the food was good. At the end they charge a “credit card” fee which is ridiculous.
