Went for our first and overall rather enjoyable.

3/5 by 👻 @Carlos A. on 09/14/2025

Service was good, but as a Michelin stared restaurant expect more, pouring our own whine is not acceptable. Food flavors were absolutely amazing, food was whimsical and fun. Unfortunately portions left something to be desired. Again for teh cost of teh dinner it felt more like a simple tasting menu and not what teh menu presented which was a full dinner menu. Portions are much too small, to say that the though of going through the drive through did cross our minds is not too far from the truth. needless to say, a great one time experience but would not return

The food was good.

3/5 by 👻 @Nicole H. on 09/09/2025

Was it something I never had before or would I remember this meal in one year's time - no. But, there was nothing wrong with it. However, there were several service and atmosphere lapses. First off, the hostess was barely civil on arrival. Second, Our server was lovely and sweet but when we wanted to take a bit of time before we ordered (like enjoy our first cocktail without ordering dinner), we were told that the table was rebooked 1 hour and 45 minutes later. There was no mention of a time constraint when we booked online and now the atmosphere was altered because we were painfully aware we are on the clock. Third, When I mentioned that we didn't want to be rushed, our server promised us she wouldn't do that and that she controlled the pace. However, on 2 separate occasions, 2 plates of food arrived at the same time (it is a sharing menu) which were totally incompatible with each other not to mention the fact that we were now being rushed. Next, my husband's third glass of wine tasted different from his first 2 glasses that he ordered and he didn't like it. Our server apologized and sent the Sommelier over who was incredibly rude. She told him it was the same wine and nothing was wrong with it but that she opened a new bottle for him anyways, When my husband smiled and tried to discuss with her how the new glass of wine was different than the earlier one, she basically rolled her eyes and walked away. Finally, When it was time for dessert, our server asked if we wanted anything as "we still had 30 minutes left". We declined and went elsewhere for dessert - somewhere relaxing and appreciative of our business. All in all - there are many ways to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars over 2 hours. Don't bother spending it at Published on Main.

Not classic seasonal set, I recommend you choose a-la carte

4/5 by 👻 @Ulyana G. on 09/05/2025

Not classic seasonal set, I recommend you choose a-la carte menu I'd rather recommend you to go for a-la carte menu, not bet on a set. Because it's not a classic Michelin experience, so you could be a little disappointed. We've tried Summer set menu - it is a rather creative set, but not striking. Some dishes are authentic and unusual, some others are very regular - you expect other from a Michelin-star restaurant. It's really very hard to create something really cool from vegetables even with all high efforts. There is a good wine card, cocktails are very cool (be ready: some of them are very strong). Interior is good and cozy - it's like a gastronomic bistro, where people can chat and relax after a day. Staff is polite and nice, but something doesn't work in this system: our waiter was good, but not all of the staff who served the set look professional.

This place fires on all cylinders and is very deserving of

5/5 by 👻 @Adam D. on 08/31/2025

This place fires on all cylinders and is very deserving of its Michelin star. We couldn't decide what to eat so we split 5 dishes. Three dishes per person is recommended, but we left plenty satisfied after those 5 dishes and 2 desserts, a peach seasonal and the chocolate mousse with peanut butter and banana ice cream. We didn't intend to order 2 desserts but the first was so good, we had to try a second. For the 5 dishes, we split the: - Pea tortelli - Gnocchi - Salmon - Duck breast - Beef Everything we ate was world class, elegant and carefully crafted. The ambiance is inviting and classy, but casual at the same time. The service is spot on and was very helpful with recommendations. I would say this is a must-do dining experience in Vancouver. Make sure you book in advance.

Solid food experience although portions are quite small

4/5 by 👻 @Richard S. on 08/30/2025

Solid food experience although portions are quite small relative to the price. I was glad that we ordered a la carte vs the tasting menu as it felt better value - was surprised they did not offer any type of bread or amuse bouche to start the meal. The place is quite family friendly and we saw various groups of families, parents and solo diners which they save seats for at the bar for walk-ins.

We had the tasting menu for our celebratory dinner in

5/5 by 👻 @John Y. on 08/14/2025

We had the tasting menu for our celebratory dinner in Vancouver before embarking on a cruise the next day, and it was quite a treat. Never in my life have I had a meal with more flower petals and leaves; and the way everything was composed, it was a good thing! My absolute favorite part of the experience was the radish in a special fish sauce that, according to one of the hosts, "a guy" on Vancouver Island makes it only for special customers, including Published on Main. A phenomenal bite. The other snacks were tasty and inventive. As for the other courses, I found myself liking some of the components (the wagyu) but not others (the breadstick onto which it was wrapped), but these are trifling concerns. The mains (Manitoba pickerel, duck) were fantastic experiences. I'm a huge fan of the DIY sundae and we had all of the ingredients. The cocktails were lovely and the service was efficient but not rushed. It was a wonderful meal and a terrific way to kick off vacation.

We were in Vancouver for the weekend and had heard great

5/5 by 👻 @Marilyn T. on 08/08/2025

We were in Vancouver for the weekend and had heard great things about Published on Main. Since we brought the kids, we had to go a la carte, but they were really kind about letting our 3 and 5 year old dine with us. Cocktails: I loved the puns in the names of the drinks! - Peas a Crowd: summer snap pea spirit, woods amaro chiaro, cocchi extra dry, yellow chartreuse - Figgy sins: sort of like a milk punch but a bit sweeter, well balanced They also had an awesome wine list, and we got a bottle of Pinot that was a special collab between Averill Creek Vineyard and Published on Main. Despite being a 2022, it had good depth and earthiness. Onto food - we did a la carte, family style - - Aebleksiver with stewed herbs and caviar: a danish version of a donut hole filled with herbs and topped with caviar - a great bite to start - Kentucky fried maitake: like salt and pepper fried maitake, served with garlic scape ranch. Despite the pepper, the kids loved this - Milan's sungolds: with pecan and ginger garlic paste, really highlighting peak summer tomatoes - Dungeness crab, summer gazpacho, pan con tomate: I actually preferred the crab and gazpacho separate from the pan con tomate. The crab was so clean and perfect for summer, whereas the pan con tomate was intense in a a good way - German butter potato gnocchi: with summer tomatoes and whey - pillow gnocchi with a slight sear and a rich butter and sun gold tomato sauce - English pea tortelli: with lovage pistou - great texture on the pasta, very well balanced with a fresh herbaceous kick - Hispi cabbage: charred leaves with a hazelnut mole and matcha sauce - lots of depth of flavor for a vegetable dish! - Roasted scallop: with sweet corn, nduja, lobster mushrooms, Mediterranean crunch For dessert, we got the Chocolate: valrhona panna cotta, peanut butter semifreddo, banana sorbet. They also finished us with house caramels and pate de fruit, which was a nice touch. Everything was local and seasonal and really highlighted the primary ingredients. The staff were all so gracious, and service was on point with place and utensil changes, pacing, water refills, and just the friendliness of the staff. I know it sounds silly, but I also appreciate that they have so many bathroom stalls (I hate when restaurants have just one...) Published on Main lived up to the hype and ended up being a great dining experience not only for the adults but also our kids, who devoured the mushrooms, crab, and gnocchi. It's definitely deserving of its star!

I got a reservation for the Flourish tasting which has 10

4/5 by 👻 @Yen D. on 07/27/2025

I got a reservation for the Flourish tasting which has 10 courses. Lasted almost 4 hours. 1) Foraged mushroom and onion and elderflower gel with forest flower around the rim cold soup. Flavorful. Have to sip where the forest flowers are for max flavor. 2) Snacks round 1: radish in nuoc cham with cilantro and basil with crispy garlic chips underneath. kohlrabi cured with xo sauce and citrus segments withe apple mint leaf, triangle is roasted golden beet, horseradish sabayon topped with saffron gel and bee pollen garnish and smoked and candied steelhead with pickled spruce tips underneath is nori creama and kelp crostad Best to mix the nuoc cham on the bottom because otherwise you may just get a full on taste of just undiluted fish sauce on the radish. Rest of the snacks were very light. 3) Side stripe shrimp, nasturium, tobiko, Koji oil and nori cold chawanmushi. Light and I got twice the shrimp because my friend didn't want her shrimp. 4) Snacks round 2: Aebleskiver with dungeness crabs and herbs inside with tarragon emulsion on top and bottom with poached crab on top, right is tomato basil tart with brisee shell with basil cream and sliced tomato on top with olive oil gel and balsamic oil pearls, foie gras NRG foie gras parfait on strawberry cashew miso crumb topped with strawberry rose gel freeze dried strawberry gel and Malden salt and left is summer sausage with avonlea cheddar with raspberry mostarda. Really enjoyed the crisp brisee shell. Aebleskiver was tastefully done with crab inside and on top as well as the tarragon emulsion. 5) Spring bounty: Summer bounty...everything fresh from their garden, turnip, brassica, radish, summer gold tomato, English pea shoots, shiso leaf, herbs. Has cucumber and smoked zucchini. Beurre blanc sauce underneath 6) Smokey beef tallow emulsion, elderberry condiment, pickled spruce tip and wagyu on sourdough grissini. Had wished the grissini was a bit crisper and that the wagyu was a bit warmer. 7) Cornflake crusted Manitoba pickerel with summer legumes English peas and snap peas and fava beans, pickled elderflower and capers underneath. Elderflower butter sauce, had lemon juice with parsley oil. Nice crunch. Flavorful 8) Dry aged duck breast, roasted heirloom tomato with duck and rose jus, duck confit, wild mushroom broth, duck heart and duck gizzard on skewer, duck rillette and duck chips with stuffed morel mushroom I enjoyed the duck breast, duck chips and duck rillette. Had to drink the wild mushroom broth to swallow the heart and gizzard (I'm not a big offal eater) 9) Cornbread dish: Palm kernel halva, smokey stone fruit, Brunost cheese on the cornbread. Felt like the cheese overpowered the cornbread. 10) Boozey Freezie: has no alcohol. Made of elderberry cordial, white cranberry juice and verjus (young grape juice) 11) DIY sundae. Milk in house ice cream and milk crumble on bottom, pumpkin miso caramel, fresh blueberries, with alpine strawberries, in house flowering shortbread, in house made brandied cherries, praline puffed grains and seeds, house made Douglas fir marshmallow Really liked the pumpkin miso caramel however the pumpkin flavor is very light. Douglas fir marshmallow was a nice touch same with the milk crumble. Parting desserts: box with two truffles.. one has strawberry and elderflower with Valhrona chocolate and the other is rosehip and speculoos Sweet grass ice cream sandwich, lemon verbena wild rice krispy Strawberry and rhubarb pat du fruit and flaxseed with hempheart caramel. Thought the pat du fruit was a bit too sweet for me but my friend thoroughly enjoyed it. Glad to have tried this full tasting. Was creative.

Thought widely considered one of Vancouver's best (if not

3/5 by 👻 @Eric L. on 07/25/2025

Thought widely considered one of Vancouver's best (if not Canada's best) restaurants, I was a bit disappointed. The food is flawlessly presented, but there was little to distinguish it from any other "good not great" restaurant. I loved my first bite - the foie gras nrg bar - but some of the dishes were just average, and at least one (a salad) was practically unpleasant because there was so little dressing it was like eating raw lettuce. Service was excellent, though, but my table felt a little ignored while other people ate the tasting menu and we went a la carte. Might have been an off day for them, but it was a disappointment to me.

Extraordinary from start to finish! A great meal is enhanced by great service & we were fortunate to have Ali as our waiter. Everyone who stopped by our table was delightful & knowledgeable. They all seem to take a great deal of pride in working at Published & deservedly so! Each dish was thoughtfully & creatively prepared. A feast for the eyes & then for our taste buds. When you can elevate iceberg lettuce to the level that they do, it is quite remarkable. Gnocchi, BBQ beef & whipped ricotta were excellent. From drinks to appetizers, entrees to deserts, everything was expertly balanced. A great neighborhood eatery flashing a Michelin star! Way cool!

We had the tasting dinner with wine pairing, and it was superb. I won't discuss the dishes because they are frequently changing, but each was delicious, and we sent back plates nearly licked clean after each course. As other reviewers had noted, the staff are very friendly and engaging, and we enjoyed sharing stories about other dining experiences, wines and different cities. The amount of food is just right, if not a little too filling, but I have a dining partner who is happy to clean up my leftovers. :) We would most definitely return on our next visit to town.

Interesting but probably not worth a return visit

3/5 by 👻 @Ann S on 10/20/2023

Intimate dining it's not - our party of 2 was party to diners' conversations on both sides of our table. The menu is interesting - unusual combinations of ingredients and sauces contrived from fruits not normally found in this part of the world. Our server however "over-shared" and his detailed descriptions of ingredients felt unnecessary and became frankly annoying. We do not normally dine at fast-food establishments, after all. We had to ask twice for the wine that we'd ordered, which arrived after the first course had been served. Portions are for sharing - e.g. 4 scallops on a small plate placed between us. Would I return? Probably not - the restaurant's "concept" of preparing locally sourced ingredients (of which they seem to be inordinately proud) doesn't really work and Vancouver has a wealth of restaurants preparing and serving interesting products sourced locally -

Choice for celiacs was very limited and not much effort was made to accommodate dietary restrictions. Small things were missin such as No paper towels after washing hands in the bathroom. We ordered a starter to share and then a main each. The first main came 10 minutes earlier than the second one so we watched each other eat. Waitress was friendly and the limited food options we could try were good. Winter squash dish was excellent. Included is the menu of celiac friendly dishes. Only check marks were available.

Came to the restaurant to celebrate my birthday. The service was very good, although it felt like 4 or 5 different servers were at the table at different points. Ordered 4 courses and asked that they didn’t arrive all at once. They didn’t, but the final course was about 15 minutes after the third course. During which time we were warned that the kitchen wax closing and should we wish to order more items we had to do so prior to seeing our 4th dish. We are the Carpaccio, hiramasa, the burrata and the slow to arrive pork belly. They were all good but not outstanding. The wine was not on a list but instead online with little description accompanying it. That is poor imo. Our wine selection was not available but the sommelier offered an alternative, and it was rather good.

3/5 by 👻 @Brian P on 09/26/2023

Great food. Inspired flavours. Great local cuisine. Excellent combination of ingredients Service is untuned. We asked for wine with our appetizers and no one came to take our request until after the appetizers were delivered to our table. Staff walk around the room not looking at patrons and seem like they don’t want to offer service unless they are called out. I felt like we were an inconvenience. Three times we were reminded that our table was reserved by another party and we felt that we were being ejected from the restaurant. Our table was booked at 815 but we were reminded at 745 then 8 then 815 that we needed to leave. There was no one waiting at the front door and there were 4 tables of equal size to ours empty when we left. We spent over $500 for dinner for 3. This was embarrassing and left a bad taste after we had such a delicious meal. First time we’ve been back since they got a Michelin star. It will be a long time before we return Too

This is a restaurant not to be missed - we were fortunate enough to be a group of 4 which meant that we were able to explore more of the menu than we would have been able to if only a couple - but do not let this deter you from dining here. The various dishes are designed to be shared and, whilst I am not a fan of the purely online menu, it is accessible via the website and provides an excellent insight into the various dishes on offer (along with pictures). Highlights for us were the mushrooms and the duck but there was not a weak dish amongst them. Well accompanied by an excellent wine list and great service.

We went just a few days after the Michelin star was awarded, although we had booked before. Love the room - the size, the lighting, the atmosphere. Service was excellent - I actually knew the server from when she worked at a different restaurant in town (that's how small Vancouver can be sometimes). The food was delicious and creative. My favourite dishes were the chicories, schnitzel, and the chicken fried maitake. I'm sure there's something else I'm forgetting. We each had a cocktail - mine was The Adrian - which was very boozy, but I like that. The wine was also perfect, although for the life of me, I can't remember what it was. It is a rather large menu and I need to go back to try other things. Congratulations on the Michelin star!

not all it's cracked up to be......don't want to go back

3/5 by 👻 @Mayalavender on 11/05/2022

As a single diner they don't make reservations for one. I knowingly opted to get there early and hope for a seat at the bar......I got one...after about a 30 minute wait. There were other vacant bar seats....so I must assume the wait was staff oriented..(at least one other customer outside was also waiting for a seat at the bar.) Once seated I asked for a dry white wine, whatever the house usually serves. They brought me something....it was slightly bubbly and I rejected it. A bit later they brought me a second option, no bottle to look at, no name, no price. It was acceptable taste wise so I took it. My 1st course was very good. Hokkaido scallops served with fennel and a truffle hazelnut puree..It was very good. I usually eat may scallops raw when fresh, so these were lighly seared, still raw inside...perfect for me.......but that one dish, I was pretty full though they called it an "appetizer" size. My second was the BBQ pork cheeks (with the best spaetzle I ever had) but the pork was over cooked..I was sawing at the cheek with knife..what? ridiculous. I ate ate some of the spaetzle and cabbage and asked for them to please pack up the rest to take home. the wait staff was good, but not very good.......I generally use a 3 minute rule, come check on my order within 3 minutes or so to see if it is ok.....with the scallops she came back in an acceptable time range. With the pork cheeks, no...I'd already decided I was done eating before she checked..told her spaetzle great..please pack up the rest. When given the bill after never seeing a wine list of any sort I was surprised to find my one glass was nearly 1/2 my bill! I exaggerate a bit, it was only 1/3 of the bill. I still tipped well, post covid and all but I have zero interest in ever eating there again.

It is really only 4 1/2 Stars.

5/5 by 👻 @DekkersTravels on 10/14/2022

We enjoyed a fabulous 11 course tasting menu with wine pairing. The courses were interesting, fun, delicious and beautifully presented. The wine pairings were right on point. I scored our experience 5 stars but really wished I could score this 4 1/2 points because the service did not match the food and wines presented. When one books a meal of this caliber at a restaurant that some suggest is the best in Canada you would expect continuity in service. Throughout our dinner our servers and sommeliers changed, some were very knowledgeable, others not so much. At this level one would expect consistency in the team that serves you regardless of the time of the evening (We booked the 8 pm seating for 4 persons). The server s initially introduced as being assigned to our table for the evening lasted a mere two courses, never to be seen again. The second team lasted about 5 courses before they too disappeared. The last group of servers were the three or four left to wait on tables still occupied. It all really took away from what should have been an exceptional evening. So while the epicurean experience was outstanding, the lackluster service means that we will not return. Tant pis.

On a Thursday evening we showed up at 4:55 and waited for the restaurant to open at 5. The hostess said she would seat the 2 couples with reservations first which was reasonable. There was one couple in front of us. The hostess returned from seating the reservations and asked the couple in front of us for a name and phone number! Before seating them! She then took them in. We were next, the restaurant now had 6 customers in it. We were told we could sit at the bar which we declined. We decided to go elsewhere because the reception was simply rude.
