The food was amazing at Prime and Provisions.
The sides are ginormous, and the steak seasoning was a lovely surprise. My favorite part of the meal was a roasted garlic bulb. The filet was the best that I have ever had, and if you choose this restaurant, enjoy!
Be the first to ReplyFor a Chicago steakhouse I was not overly impressed.
The ambiance was great. The service started out strong but then our server lost his touch. For what we paid, I would not return. There are many better options. I shouldn't have to salt my steak.

This was the one place I'll go back to next year. Used to go to Bennys Chop House back when in was still in business. The steak here was every bit as good as Benny's but a much more modern menu and outstanding ambience. Their Old Fashions are famous and didn't disappoint. Service by Kyle was excellent. Just the right amount of attention and the assistants were so on point.
Be the first to ReplyI really wanted this to work.
Creamed spinach, burger, chopped salad - what could go wrong? There is absolutely nothing special about the food here. Nothing. How hard is it to make a burger? Very little flavor and overly charred on the outside. Creamed spinach was pretty lackluster and extremely bland. Chopped salad was just gross. Giant pieces of undercooked lardons, pepperoncini (??) And maybe 2 slices of avocado. Sad lettuce, bad dressing. I've had better salad at the olive garden. Major disappointment, will not be back. Wish we had spent the money at swift and sons instead!

Omg!!!!! I live in Chicago is the best place by far that I've been 2 for amazing steaks!!!!! The flavor with their house seasoning is mouthwatering. I mean the salad was even delicious. The chocolate bacon was definitely surprising. And on top of the delicious food, our server Anna was phenomenal and the manager was very lively

This was our first time here at P&P and it did not disappoint. We don't get out much for date night so I really take the time to research restaurants. This place was a hit between my husband and I. It's intimate and romantic. We sat in the booth which was a little awkward at first because they are half mooned tables that face the dining room so it's kind of like you're on display. It's absolutely a special occasion place, it seemed like everyone there was celebrating. A flaming candle dessert passed us every 5 min which was super fun to watch. The food was exquisite. I indulged in the Hokkaido wagyu steak that priced at $140 for a 4oz portion. It was so soft and buttery I was able to cut it with a fork. It's not much food if you're super hungry but the sides are hearty and will fill you nicely. The French onion soup is top 3 I have ever had and by far one of the most popular items. I didn't care for the brussel sprouts or the bearnaise. Brussels were underwhelming and a bit soggy, the sauce was a bit thick and broken. The wild mushrooms and the sweet potato were very good. This place has the best butters also. They are whipped and super fluffy. Our service was a bit rocky at the beginning, the server took forever to even great us and kept messing up the order. We didn't receive my husbands salad but the manager brought it out as soon as he found out. She had to leave mid service and we got a new server named Mike. The entire staff was just so attentive and nice. Jay and our second server Mike were so great. They checked in with us, talked and made sure we had a great overall experience. Even the manager popped in to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. They deducted the forgotten salad, threw in 2 desserts and 2 glasses of wine. 9/10 for sure and we look forward to our next visit.

My cousins and i were visiting Chicago and we always plan at least 1 fancy dinner when we travel and came across this high end restaurant and let me tell ya! it's high end for a reason! The ambiance was very nice and elegant, so please dress accordingly. If you like steak just as much as we do then i recommend you try them out! Our server was great and very informative and gave us all the right entrees. 100/10

Service: Great! I was checked on constantly but not to the point of it being "too much." Food: The Chicken Sliders were good. Drinks: The Cosmo and Lemon Drop were so good! The place was clean and the ambiance was good. I'd definitely return.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary and it was lovely! My favorite part of this restaurant was hands down our waiter and the atmosphere. It felt very romantic and we had a great time! The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is for the price point I wasn't blown away by the food. I'm not saying the food wasn't good, it was! But this isn't a cheap place by any means and I just expected a little more from our steaks. That being said I would 100% give this place another try in the future!

Came here with a friend die dinner, and it was both our first times.'Was greeted by a man in regular pedestrian clothes (white and blue polo shirt) when we walked in and wasn't sure if he was part of the staff or dining in. Anyway, we got seated in one of the half circle booths on the perimeter which was nice. Noticed a few candelabras and the large staircase to the 2nd floor. Dark and nice ambience that seemed classical in furniture but hip, loud music. The we requested bread service, and out came 2 regular size popovers with butter. They were tasty and a nice change from the usual bread basket. Ordered an aviator cocktail that was just "ok". It had muddled blueberries that I wasnt expecting to overpower the drink, but it did. I ordered the French onion soup and it was delicious. From the cheese and bead on top to the deep flavor of the broth. Delicious! My friend ordered a NY strip and a side of mashed potatoes. I had the petite filet and roasted mushrooms. We both enjoyed our steaks, and they were cooked how we like them - me-med rare; her-well done. She loved the mashed potatoes too. I wanted a glass of super Tuscan to go with my steak, but unfortunately they were out. We were really full and couldn't finish our steaks but wanted something sweet. Learned they make all their desserts in-house. We decided on the apple pie a la mode. It was delicious and not the typical apple pie. It was more like a large apple tart filled with fresh, thinly sliced apples in a great crust with an oatmeal crumble on top. I would definitely order that again and noticed the they sell full size pies. The service was ok. I would say the water service and clearing of the table was excellent. Our main server was busy with a handful of other tables, and we didn't get quite the attention I would expect for a steakhouse where we're paying $55-$77 for a single steak. One example, had to ask for a glass of wine after I got served my steak whereas it's a common question to ask after ordering cocktail in the beginning of the meal and between when a steak is coming to the table. There were a lot of birthday celebrations while we were there and the place was buzzing. It was a nice experience, but want to experience some different steakhouses as they are plentiful in Chicago.

If you're in town for business or pleasure THIS is the place to check out. The ambiance was great , the food was fantastic , I went on a Sunday and decided to sit at the bar. Hugo was my bartender, I could not ask for better service !! He gave me great recommendations but in the end he created something on his own. Let me tell you , this drink was like nothing I ever had before. Delicious full of flavor & I ended up ordering more than i expected because it was THAT GOOD! He made great conversations with me & my friends. Just an overall great night from beginning to end. I'll most definitely be coming back & ordering that "hugo special " steak , mashed potatoes. & Delicious bacon!!!!
Be the first to ReplyI was really looking forward to trying this place.
I've been eyeing this place for a while but never got a chance to try it. It was my birthday and happy hour oysters. I love oysters! Unfortunately, my husband made a reservation in the dining room versus the bar area so we were not allowed to participate in happy hour. We asked if there was any possibility of sitting there and she said they were full. We asked a second time for any other options but she stated again they were fully book. We decided to leave and as we were leaving the hostess was giggling and didn't even greet us "thank you for coming." No biggie people do weird things at times and really didn't think much of it. When we got outside we saw two tables eating oysters outside with plenty of outdoor tables. We asked them are you eating oysters for happy hour for prime and provisions and she said, yes, just let them know in the front I was like wow. So disappointed! I didn't even have the heart to want to eat here anymore. I would have been a great customer and probably a returning one but looks like I wasn't good enough for them. I'm curious why? Maybe since I was Asian or I had kids. Thankfully they're not the only ones in the area that has happy hour oysters.
Be the first to ReplyBeen to this place a couple of times while on business.
Started with fried chicken and crab cake. I had salad with a side of filet and my co-worker had the rib eye, mashed potatoes and broccoli. Candidly, I would not recommend the fried chicken. The crust was good but the meat was dry. I've never not finished fried chicken but could not finish it. The salad had chunks of thick cut bacon and the filet was cooked perfectly. I didn't try the rib eye but it was huge and my colleague seemed to really enjoy it. Tried the mashed potatoes and they were excellent.

Came here for a business dinner on a recent trip to Chicago after reading reviews online and wanting a steak close to my hotel. Prime & Provisions turned out to be one of the better steak houses I have been to in a while. Really appreciate any steak house that makes the effort to serve bone-in cuts as well as the standard. All the usual steak house sides are available and executed as well as you would expect. The wine list is comprehensive, varied, and well thought out - Only recommendation here would be to add more wines by the glass.

Outstanding service, wonderful food, and a lively yet cozy atmosphere. Our steaks were cookedperfectly, and our cocktails were well rounded and delicious. Dessert for our birthday girl a hit. Our waitress was knowledgeable about every offering on the menu, including the wine list. The staff in general was impressive and worked seamlessly together.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent steak in a great location near in the river.
Clam chowder was solid, and the Brussels sprouts side was delicious. Our waiter pointed out that the potatoes were properly whipped. I would have liked to see a signature cocktail menu - their focus was on wine and classic cocktails. Prices are very high - it's definitely a special occasion place.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for lunch on Tuesday.
It was pretty busy so I sat at the bar. This is a popular spot for business lunches in the loop. Menu for lunch is pretty limited - opted for the blackened grouper sandwich and fries. The sandwich was pretty tasty, full of well seasoned fish on a nice big sweet bun, but the fries were not good at all. I don't know if they needed to make some more and gave me the last of the fry batch because why were all of my fries were short, small and hard. I knew I should of opted for the salad instead. It looked so much better on another guest plate. Service was good. The bartender I believe his name was Ken actually looked like a Ken Barbie doll! The Irony. The people who work here are all well put together and attractive. I wonder if that's a prerequisite to get hired here. Overall my lunch experience was good minus the fries. I will come back for dinner or their awesome happy hour I keep hearing about to see if the fries are still bad.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for happy hour.
Our waiter was anything but polite. He looked at his watch many times when we ordered and advised there was the regular menu as well. Only gave it a 3 because the oysters were the best thing. The sliders were ok and the drinks barely counts as HH. Most likely will not come back

Easily one of my favorite steakhouses in Chicago! I've never had a bad experience to date. I ordered oysters to start and they were perfect. Started with the house cut bacon which our server doused in alcohol and lit ablaze in a nice show for us. Next the filet Mignon and it was perfectly cooked, juicy and very flavorful. It did not come with sides so we got the mashed potato and sautéed mushrooms extra and they were fantastic. For dessert the caramel cake which was fine. Just a tad dense but good. Service was perfect and so was the ambiance. Another great meal and dining experience!

* this is purely based on the restaurant week menu*Went here for restaurant week, because I love a good steakhouse. Will say that this spot definitely looks like it's for a special occasion (saw 4-5 birthdays happening while I was there). It was $55 for the 3 course dinner menu. I do not eat pork, so the first course menu options were limiting. The flaming bacon course seemed like a crowd pleaser, however the soup I got was served in the smallest cup I've ever seen. The main course consisted of the choice of a 7 oz filet, chicken or salmon. The filet was very good (obviously fairly small); you have the option of upgrading your steak, but that costs an additional $30 or more depending on your choice. The dessert (which is my favorite part of any meal) was very mediocre. It was their house marble chocolate cake which tasted pretty "meh" and not something I would order again. Willing to try them again, when it's not restaurant week.

First time here (trying the best steakhouses of Chicago) & got to celebrate my birthday! Our server Dio, was great and attentive with us. We each had different cuts of NY steaks & the filet mignon as well as the broccoli for sides and mashed potatoes. My favorite was the seasoning they offer for the steak - salt, lavender & pepper I believe! Amazing combination. We got a few raw oysters & the rockefellers. For drinks we got amaretto stone sour, a mule, and lemons drop martini. Excellent choices. The dessert was delicious as well, thank you for the special surprise. The vibe is a more fun but intimate dinner with the music in the background. Recommend to those who like a fun time with friends & drinks. Our tab was around $600 & we can't wait to come back!!!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is overrated .
Service is terrible they forget everything. Take long just to bring a beverage. The steaks are no flavor. For the price I was expecting something better. Plus you pay 18% extra for employees service basically I have to pay employee salaries top 250 dlls you pay for food.
