FIRE besides their matcha latte but it was good quality!
FIRE besides their matcha latte but it was good quality! The matcha was a bit underwhelming as it had a small portion size and not much flavor to it, but absolutely loved the fried chicken and waffles. Crisped to perfection and perfectly tender with the soft waffles! Service was fast and nice! Wait was a while though, but when I'm back in the Fashion District I will be coming back.

Stopped by this place for lunch with my best friend during the workday! This place is lovely . The atmosphere is chill and quaint and there were lots of people coming in for lunch. The space has a nice breakfast/brunch menu and everything looked great! I enjoyed the market scramble with whole wheat toast and an iced matcha latte with almond milk. Our waiter was kind and checked in with us frequently as well. Overall the food was delicious and I really enjoyed my experience with this sweet little cafe.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent all the way around .
A must do if your doing early Saturday shopping in DTLA.
Be the first to ReplyThe drinks were great, but a bit pricey.
The restaurant was very loud inside, making it difficult to talk. Additionally, the restaurant is situated in a less desirable area, and parking is a nightmare.

We came here on Mother's Day, without any reservations, at 9:30 AM. The place had a lot of patrons when we got there, so we were asked to wait a little to get seated. After about 20 minutes, they called us and showed us to our table. We had the chicken and waffles, my daughter had the breakfast burger and I had the salmon eggs Benedict. Everything was so yummy! We loved everything to the last bite! We will definitely come back for more, this place is highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food- the Poppy Burger is quite big and delicious.
No need for fries in my opinion cause the burger is huge. The service is top notch and the ambiance is a bit loud for my liking but otherwise it's lively. Definitely hipster, fresh clean ambiance. Chai tea latte is on the sweeter side. I know it's not impossible but restrooms are okay. If you're looking for affordable food this may not be the place but definitely has quality fresh, ingredients. Also the flower market is right across the street. Parking: paid parking
Be the first to ReplyToday we visited this place.
The ambience and service was great except for the food. It was so bland. I had the chicken and waffle. The chicken was so bland, no flavor at all and somewhat undercooked. My husband had the bacon eggs Benedict and I have to say they I have not idea how they make their hollandaise sauce, but it looked and tasted more like nacho cheese, and the biscuit was as har as a rock, not to mention coffee was weak and cold. Needless to say will not be going here ever again.
Be the first to ReplyIt's was delicious.
We had great service and tried a variety of breakfast items. Will return again when in area

This place was POPPIN'! We had reservations and wait wasn't that long for us but walk ins had to wait a while. If you want to try this place, definitely make reservations on Open Table before coming. The food is just top notch. Their chicken is delicious. Not dry at all and the flavor is delicious. Mimosas are a must to go along with your meal! Waffles are just perfect. It does get noisy in there but you can tell all the people eating here are having a good time. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Sunday Brunch here is a must.
Be the first to Replythe food is quite underwhelming for the price.
the biscuits were overcooked to the point of inedibility and all of the food was underseasoned. service takes ages - it took 30 minutes to get a coffee, and longer to get the food. the dining area itself is far too small, with absolutely horrid ambiance. you'll be sitting elbow to elbow with complete strangers due to the restaurant's desire to cram people into a smaller space than most airplane seats. the room is so loud that you won't be able to speak to the person you're dining with, and if you have an apple watch, it will likely inform you that you are in a place with unsafe sound levels. the small silver lining to this restaurant is that the staff are very kind and friendly. tldr come to this place if you want bad food, bad atmosphere, and some really lovely staff

Saw all of the raving reviews and had to try it for ourselves. Met up with some family for breakfast and was able to find some seats after the line formed outside. Food was good. Some extra pops of flavor twists that you recognize but never thought to combine them for breakfast. It was tasty. I've never had flattened toast before and I enjoyed it with their berry jam. I think the thing that sets it apart was the flavor twists. You'll notice your head tilt and think, "I know this flavor." I would go back for a hash brown and they're kicked up ketchup. The ambient noise is pretty loud. We tried having a conversation and found ourselves yelling while trying to eat it was a little distracting so we just mainly ate and waited to have convos outside. Parking is a bit of a walk if you can't find street parking. So for those needing assistance you may want to drop them off at the front and then park. Overall great service, good coffee and good food. Can't go wrong.
Be the first to ReplyThis was my first visit to Poppy + Rose, overall pleased
This was my first visit to Poppy + Rose, overall pleased with the experience. Parking isn't the greatest as the structure is old, dark and not very clean but it is DTLA and they do partially validate, so it was only $5 for the stay. The location is ample enough and on a late morning Friday, the restaurant was full. Service was great overall, had no issues there. I would have technically scored this a four star review but some of the inconsistencies and slight misses on the food pushed it into a 3, good but not great. The fried chicken Benedict with the biscuit had good flavor coming from the chicken and hollandaise sauce but the chicken wasn't crispy and the biscuit was lackluster, would have preferred a normal piece of bread over it as it was stale. The poached eggs were done perfectly, that made the dish better for sure. The pulled pork hash suffered a bit because of an inconsistency on the potato bricks, one of as nicely crispy and the other one wasn't. Over easy eggs were slightly over cooked but still had some gooey yolks. The arugula was nice for presentation but I didn't care for it. Solid place, could have been better but nothing was bad about this experience.

Delicious food and great service! Will definitely be coming back next time we're in LA!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful hidden gem within the Fashion District.
It's like a little getaway from all the busyness. A friend and I went to brunch and I ordered the Brassica Salad for us to share and The Vegetable Sandwich for myself. That salad was not only beautiful to look at, but beautiful in taste and so fresh and citrusy. I could order this every time I'm here. The Vegetable Sandwich originally comes with an herb yogurt spread, but it contains dairy, so I requested it without. Sandwich was fire! Super filling and the vegetables were cut perfectly so that they still retained their juice but seasoned with a herby-savory rub. And who doesn't love ciabatta bread?
Be the first to ReplyWonderful server.
Really good steel-cut oats. Not a great place for food allergies due to size of the kitchen. I have an egg allergy and was not able to order anything else on the menu other than the oatmeal.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time here It was sorta like a hit & miss.
Eggs Benedict with fried chicken was good best part was the runny eggs and the chicken. The sauce tasted more like a nacho cheese wasn't quite a fan of it. The biscuits were dried and cold. The pulled pork was okay little too sweet for my liking. But hey... we all like different things. Service was great, a bit noisy. Just a fair warning try not to use the restrooms if you don't have too!!! Wait till you get home. Will I drive to DTLA for this spot I don't think I will. That's just my personal opinion.
Be the first to ReplyUpcharge, upcharge, upcharge! We walk in and we met a group
Upcharge, upcharge, upcharge! We walk in and we met a group while in the restaurant and they force a 20% gratuity because they thought we were a joint party. We had to wait 20 minutes to even get our water and their portions are ridiculous. They are extremely chintzy with the amount of meat they put in the burrito. The waitress also had the worst attitude and it was obvious she did not want to be there before we even sat down. I ordered a Benedict and they didn't have any Canadian bacon which is ridiculous and i had to settle for fried chicken. They also have all the breakfast items come with salads and it's an upcharge to sub for potatoes and their salad is unseasoned spinach with no dressing or anything added in. The only redeeming factor was the fact that they got the egg perfect for my Benedict. Other than that the chicken was flavorless and dry and the biscuit was stale. After we finished eating we had to wait ~20 minutes for our waitress to come back and give us our check because she was visibly gossiping with her coworkers.

One of my foodie friends recommended I try out Poppy + Rose, so happened to be downtown and gave it a shot. Good choice. Easy to find. Was able to find metered parking right out front. Of course my arrival was around 2ish and normally due to the very busy florist market, close parking could be hard to find. Restaurant is casual and nicely appointed. Friendly hostess seated us. I opted for the kitchen sink bowl. Very tasty with nice portion of pulled pork. Good presentation. Staff was friendly and overall had a good visit.
Be the first to ReplyNice find! Unique and tasty.
Friendly server who made our first visit fun. Looking forward to the next time!
Be the first to ReplyI came by this place by accident.
I was in the area going to the flower district in LA. I felt hungry and decided to give this place a try. I went on a Saturday and it was a packed house. It only took about 30-40 minutes to be seated. We ordered the chicken and waffles, egg benedict, and steak and eggs. The food took about 25-30 minutes to come out, and this could be due to the restaurant serving a party of over 20 people. The food was good but not the best that I've had as far as chicken and waffles, egg benedict, and steak and eggs. The customer service was good, and you can tell that the staff members were working hard to get out orders and to accommodate all members in the restaurant. The server did not ask if we wanted refills; that is the reason for the 4 stars. I'll try this place in the future to see how things go.
Be the first to ReplyNight next to the flower district, The food here is amazing.
I had the spicy chicken and waffle breakfast and omg I'll definitely come back for this. Being a dietitian, I'm obsessed with good food so trust me on this one. The strawberry limeade was very refreshing as well! We came on a Saturday around 12pm and waited about 30 minutes to be seated. It was busy so the place was pretty loud. It's also kinda small so the tables and seats are kinda crammed so if you were to go flower shopping, I'd recommend putting your blooms in the car before you come in here.
Be the first to ReplyService was great! Food was okay.
They have very limited space but overall I had a good experience.

.. I don't think this place is worth all the hype... the service is OK, and the food is mediocre. Nothing to brag about.

Honestly one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten- the fried chicken sandwich. And the best chai latte I ever had (I'm a chai latte snob!). My friend said the shrimp & grits is really good too. She's from Texas and is a big foodie. Our waiter (Shawn?) was so polite and wonderful. The only downside to the place is it's really noisy. We came on a Friday morning. They should turn the music down a bit. God, I sound old. Anyway, I'd def come back here. Thanks Shawn!
Be the first to ReplyI am not the ideal diner for poppy+rose.
They have a few veggie options but this is a casual comfort food restaurant. I knew this going in, so I was prepared for slim pickings. I ordered the Avocado and beet salad. My dining mate ordered the grilled veggie sandwich. Both were decent but were not memorable enough to warrant a second visit. Their comfort food options (fried chicken and waffles) looked great on our neighbors table. I understand why the food gets high marks. Ambiance was good. Big dining room with lots of tables. Everything was clean and tidy. The furniture was modern and comfortable. Our waiter was very friendly, prompt and helpful. The bathroom is shared with the flower market and is awful. Lots of broken fixtures and smelled nasty. I went in and immediately turned around.
