Good Thai in Norway
A visit during our stay in Oslo. Menu options are good and flavours authentic. Food came reasonably quickly, portion sizes could be bigger. Overall a good meal.
Be the first to ReplyVery good but too many hours
Sparse and minimalist space, not too cosy, but comfortable.
Relaxed ambient music.
Pleasant staff. A bit rushed.
Great snacks and tidbits - tastes.
Had the larger tasting menu - 15ish courses.
Tasty fried duckleg, fried bacalao, beautiful duckheart perfectly grilled, langoustine two ways, divine lobster, sweet and sour pork on a slice of incredibly sunmatured pineapple, and so on.
Great Weissbeer from Holmestrand. Sparkling, infused with green tea. Splendid pinot noir from California.
All good and tasty and nice, but it took 3.5 hours. That`s just too long. 1-1.5 to even 2 hours would be so much nicer.
Expect 2000.- NOK per person.
Would probably choose Ahaan, their sister restaurant, with whom they share the venue, if I had to choose again. Have been many times to Ahaan - I prefer it.
Ahaan -- little sister to Plah -- Unusual dishes and high quality
I would not call this exactly street food, as it is pitched, but it is a bit different in concept from it's big sister next door, Plah (which is a top-notch gourmet Thai restaurant). The idea is that you choose a number of dishes and share them. Somewhat limited menu, especially if you don't eat meat, but exciting options nonetheless.
We made the blind jump to order the "Stekt Uer" -- a whole fish sold by weight (they had 3 different options for which weight we could have). It was a true experience that I can recommend. The dish came with rice and a delicious warm dish of greens.
We also had the bite size appetizer they suggested (a prawn inside a leaf with herbs and spices -- a taste explosion well worth the 39 kroner (about $3.50) each). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! (I wish we had had two each.). The green onion fritters appetizer was good, but a bit disappointing (especially for the price). I'd rather have had another of the prawn appetizer.
Service was wonderful, atmosphere fine for a Saturday night when everything was busy. We felt lucky to get a table, and then they graciously let us move to a window table when it opened up.
Location is close to the Castle Park (Slottsparken), so if you are in that area, it's very convenient. About a 12-minute walk from the National Theater subway stop.
Incredible thai food
Fantastic asian fusion restaurant. My wife had the vegetarian menu and i had the normal. I enjoyed every dish and my wife enjoyed all but one. We went all in with the wine package and it did not disappoint. I would highly recommend it. Great service and delicious food and wine. Cocktails are great too.
