Welcoming our best friends from Virginia at Pilot was a fantastic experience. The vintage boat on Pier 6 offered a charming setting, and the seafood, especially the oysters, was a hit. With a variety of wines and cocktails to choose from, we enjoyed a delightful evening. The added bonus of a downtown Manhattan view enhanced the overall atmosphere. Just a heads up for friends prone to seasickness - the boat's gentle sway is part of the adventure. Pilot is more than a bar; it's a perfect blend of good company, delicious food, and a unique maritime experience.

What a unique place to be having food and drinks!! The weather was perfect the day we went but might be more challenging during rainy or windy times. We ordered a couple of bottles of wine and discovered that it's tap served. So you could actually try before making up your mind. Scallops could have been better seasoned but the aïoli that they serve with fries goes well with scallops too. Lobster roll was tasty. Get the fries if you think you might be still hungry. Service was a bit slow but we didn't care since we had our wine and loved the rocking of the boat. Great views of the lower manhattan!
Be the first to ReplyYou are 100% paying for the view, not the food.
The food was mediocre. We got a dozen over priced oysters and were served cocktail sauce that tasted like marinara. Very bad. The service was also comically bad. The server walked up twice to ask if we wanted to order, when we had already ordered with him without getting our food or drinks. Then he delivered our main meal to the wrong table and didn't realize it for 20 minutes. After drinks and oysters we went somewhere else for our actual dinner. Stand on the pier and watch the sunset. Not worth getting on the boat.

I enjoy this place for brunch very much, it's literally located on a boat so if aware if you can get seasick easily! Everything I got was amazing, the oysters were small but sweet and flavorful. The crudo sea beam was very appetizing and refreshing because of it's citrusy taste along with some herb and tomatillo. The hash browns was well cooked and just perfect and you can pair with the steelhead caviar, sour cream and pickled onions and transcend the flavor to the next level. The lobster roll was buttery and surprising with a generous amount of lobster! I added the leftover caviar on top of it and it's full of seafood umami flavor. At the end, I had the key lime mousse and the gateau, and the gateau was a delicious crumbly chocolaty cake/cookie mixture, I couldn't finish it because I was too full but I wish I could have.
Be the first to ReplyI never write reviews, but the poor service compelled me.
I had a reservation with my bf at the oyster bar today and was quickly seated by the host. The waitress fulfilled our drink orders, but we were still looking over the menu so we asked for more time. She came back again, but it was too soon so we again asked for a few more minutes. Overall, we didn't take long and were ready to order, but the waitress ignored my attempts at trying to get her attention and continued to wait at other tables. We waited for a long time and then she just left the boat! We had NO ONE waiting on us. She did not attempt to coordinate with any of the staff and gave us a big f*ck you for not ordering fast enough to her liking before she went on break. So we just sat there for quite some time until I had to ask the man behind the oyster bar who was coordinating the food service. Whoever he was, he was great! I felt bad because I overheard him talking to another patron about how the oyster shucker had left with no replacement, so he had to do it himself. He was forced to be in charge of managing the food service from the kitchen, shucking oysters, AND having to take our food order. By the time we had to ask for the check, it was another fiasco just trying to get someone to wait on us. Extremely disappointing experience. Whoever the waitress was should not be working in hospitality. She was blatantly disrespectful.

I took myself for a date to this incredible restaurant last weekend. The best part about eating solo is not having to share. Is that the worst part? Either way, I enjoyed every single bite. Even though I didn't have a reservation. ,they were kind enough to accomodate me at the perfect table with the most perfect view.. literally! All of the staff, from the hostess to the bartenders to the servers were all extremely friendly and hospitable. Food wise, I ordered the Polpette (Sirloin and brisket meatballs with tomato compote and basil garlic toast), Sea-Scallops (Seared dayboat-scallops with sweet-corn succotash and coriander emulsion) and also... the french fries. Of the three, the meatballs was certainly my favorite however each really held their own.. and yes, even the french fries! I washed it all down with a delicious ice-cold Sundae draft. I can't wait to come back, perhaps with a friend or date. In the meantime, I have fond memories with myself here to look back on. 5/5!

Bringing a child to Pilot, a floating sailboat with cocktails and seafood, is the absolute height of bougie parenting. On second thought, the fact that I think that probably means I've never been near the true highs of bougie parenting. No matter. Sitting and sipping $18 cocktails with expansive views of the Manhattan skyline, with a summertime breeze to boot...it's nice. I like it. The seafood is good, the service is usually great, and although your bill is going to be higher than you might like, you're essentially paying for a vacation without having to leave Brooklyn. I've heard you can also go without your kid, but I don't get to do much without my kids these days. Don't worry though, I only go right after they open, so as not to bother childless folks with my questionable life choices.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome food ambience is beautiful.
Service is great. Can't say anything bad about this place. Love it.
Be the first to ReplyEverything was terrific.
What's not to like eating freshly prepared food in a beautiful environment with friendly and eager to help staff! One downfall. They have an oyster bar with a variety of oysters. SPOILER ALERT: However you have to order six of the same oyster type. So with only two people dining, if we wanted each try the different oysters they had we would have had to order at least 4 dozen oysters! When we asked if we could order two of each the manager was very strict and said it's a company policy and I won't allow it. So- won't be back.

Cute ambience and service is great! I snacked in a couple things but nothing worth raving about hoping to try more soon!

WHAT A VIEW!! It was a fun summer experience where we were dining on a boat with the beautiful skyline of Manhattan. We ordered a couple of drinks with some oysters & lobster rolls, and they're so fresh and delicious! Server was also nice and accommodating when we ended up having an additional guest joining last min. 10/10 would recommend this place!
Be the first to ReplySolid oysters, great view and friendly service.
Blueberry desert was the highlight for me. Dress warm as it's about 5 degrees cooler by the water

I finally decided to check out and dine on The infamous restaurant on a boat right after work. I work in Brooklyn on Wednesdays so I decided to take advantage of the opportunity before seasonal daylight savings time. First of all, the scenery is stunning as you will want to take photos of NYC skyline as you're sitting on a boat. The boat is stationary and doesn't move but if you're there on a water choppy night, it may not be comfortable for you. I usually don't get sea sick but the choppiness was rougher. Frederick, my server was gracious to get me a ginger beer on the house. Also if you dine in the evening In September, take a sweater. It may get chilly. I ordered the trout caviar on hash browns which was scrumptious. Also you need a reservation at Pilot and they take $25 on hold during reservation. But the $25 is deducted off your bill.

Ive wanted to go to this place for two years now and finally took my wife for our anniversary. On a very non-busy day on Monday we went and waited 20+ minutes to even order and 20+ minutes to get our check. The oysters, salad, and fries were very stale. The lobster tail was fantastic. I wouldn't come here unless you really enjoy the view and love lobster tails.
Be the first to ReplyWe went to Pilot on our last night in NYC.
The setting and the views were beyond compare. This is truly a Brooklyn gem. The lobster roll was fantastic, and the champagne oysters were excellent. We will be seeing you again on our next trip to the Big Apple....
Be the first to ReplyMy group had an excellent experience at Pilot.
Our server, Alexander, was incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive. The ambiance speaks for itself - unique dining experience on a vintage boat. Really gives off the oyster bar / sea side vibes. Food is delicious and fresh. The perfect way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon.
Be the first to ReplyVery expensive for what it is, but still well worth it.
Vibe cannot be beat. You are on an actual sailboat, feeling the waves with scenery you can't describe. Great food and drinks, great service.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful views, great cocktails and we loved the food.
Oysters were fantastic and the fries were so good we had to order a second round. The perfect spot for happy hour!
Be the first to ReplyI discovered Pilot through friends earlier this summer.
This weekend I went with a group on Friday evening. The sunset was spectacular. The oysters were terrific - we tried all four kinds! The boat itself is really fun - the gentle rolling puts everyone in a festive mood and you get all the pleasure of being on the water with none of the responsibility or hassle. The wait staff has always been helpful and friendly even when they are really busy. I look forward to more pleasant evenings there - it is a special spot - low key and magical.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful boat In a stunning setting.
The staff are very friendly. The oysters were extremely fresh and sweet. Burrata salad was also very good. The only thing that was forgettable were the fries. Its not inexpensive, but it's reasonable given the exceptional setting. Will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyWent there this weekend for my birthday and these folks
Went there this weekend for my birthday and these folks knocked it out of the park before we even got there when I emailed them about parking and a dress code (plenty of parking garages nearby and no dress code, btw) and they got back to me in a half hour. Then when we got there, every staff member was genuinely friendly and wished me a happy birthday even though I only mentioned it to one of them. Our waiter was very chill, and when they gave him the wrong wine, he still gave it to me anyway since they would have had to toss it and they didn't charge us for it. And as a bonus, they brought us a sweet scoop of ice cream with coconut flakes. The food is delicious and while the menu is limited, it's all SUPER fresh. It's kind of nice having a more limited menu so you don't get overwhelmed, and feels more like a relaxing little bar that does upscale dishes with an insanely beautiful view. On that note: it's on a boat so things do tend to rock a bit, especially when the ferry shoots by in the river and creates some wake, but that kind of adds to the fun. After two glasses of wine I thought I was more tipsy than I should be, and was having lots of giggly fun, but realized when I got off the boat after dinner that it wasn't the wine - it was the boat rocking lolAll in all a great place for a relaxing meal, great views, and lovely people. Can't wait to go back!

The restaurant in located in Brooklyn bridge park and has beautiful views of the city as you dine. Great date night or girls night out spot. The oysters champagne was a great start followed by my trout and a side of fries for dinner. I did get motion sickness because the restaurant is on a boat. Take some Dramamine if you have the same issue as me because the water was choppy and the boat was rocking. Everything was great until it came time to pay. My friend and I split our bill. She paid first then when it was my turn the server put the tip he felt he should have received on my bill. It was like he thought I wouldn't tip him. I didn't cause a scene so I just paid it but he shouldn't be allowed to do that.
Be the first to ReplyWent to Pilot for lunch on Saturday afternoon.
It is a fun experience, but not sure it is worth the cost, as I left as hungry as I came.Quality: Pilot is all about the setting. The food is perfectly fine, but very expensive. It is all about getting to enjoy oysters and drinks on a boat overlooking lower Manhattan. I actually found the non-alcoholic Watermelon Mint Limonata to be my favorite element of the meal, a perfect refreshing beverage. The Grand Banks Oysters Selection provides two dozen oysters with four of each type on the menu. Well shucked and presented. The Ceviche was tasty, but barely a bite. I also liked the Lobster Roll, which is rare when it is cold, but it benefited from the warm bun.Quantity: Everything is small portions.Value: $8.50 for a Watermelon Mint Limonata. $79 for The Grand Banks Oysters Selection. $19 for the Ceviche. $32 for the Lobster Roll.Ambiance: Pilot is a boat restaurant location in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Docked along one of the piers is a beautiful old boat, which has been transformed into an elegant restaurant. They have both table and bar seating, with some covering, but still expect sun to peek through. As long as you are okay with being rocked back and forth during your meal, it is hard to find a more picturesque setting for a meal.Crowd: Reservations are highly recommended, particularly on weekends.Service: Professional and helpful staff.Parking: Some street parking in the area of the park.

A very cool ambiance, but you need sea legs for this restaurant. Depending on the wind/time of day, the swell in the water really rocks the boat. Our oyster tray started spilling all sorts of liquids onto my lap once the ice melted in the tray! Good mixed drinks-- I enjoyed my mint watermelon mocktail.
