This place is outstanding the butter beef is a crazy looking concoction that when you mix all up is incredible. The beef luc luc with a egg on top is out of this world and the chicken wings might be the best dry wings I have ever had. One word of warning go early or be okay with waiting cause this place fills up fast but has a quick table turnaround.

This is my 5th time eating at this restaurant and the quality remains to be as great as all my previous visits dating back to 2021. They definitely deserve the michelin guide recognition. After a recent trip to Cambodia, i can see that Phnom Penh is more of a fusion cuisine, blending flavours from cambodia, vietnam, and southern china perfectly. I would say this is a quintessential restaurant of vancouver and would recommend any visitors to try. One thing i found is that this restaurant excels at their speciality, which are the 5 dishes I've posted, but the rest of the items of their expansive menu were nothing out of the ordinary. However this isn't really an issue unless you're coming here regularly and frequently
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and customer service.
Ambiance reminded me a lot of my own family gatherings. Busy, bustling, and happy atmosphere with great food for a good price.
Be the first to ReplyI went to the lunar food crawl and this was our first stop.
The service was fast and great. They didn't treat us differently because we were not dining in customers. The wings came hot to order.

Visited Vancouver for a weekend and was craving something soupy. Despite the 1.5hours wait in line (virtually), I highly recommend coming early to put down your name/numbers at the front to receive your spot and come back when your table's almost ready. Staff was great and did not rush us while we were seated, some places do that as if they want us to rush through our meals and that's not very welcoming, but this place made us feel comfortable being there! Chicken wings were juicy and crispy, tasted rather sugary & peppery (in a good way). The phnom penh rice noodles (in soup) with pork liver, shrimp, sliced pork/beef shank, fish balls, fried garlic to create this hearty meal. The noodles came boiling hot and it looked simple but tasted amazing! When you visit Vancouver, definitely stop by here if your schedule can accomodate and expect the long wait. Was it worth the hype? I will have to come back and try the rest of their dishes next time write another review! Until next time!
Be the first to ReplyWe came here on a Friday and the wait was 1 hour.
Honestly it was not worth it. The restaurant gets kind of loud, and the ambiance is a bit chaotic. I ordered the hot and sour fish soup that many people rave about, but it was a big disappointment. It was sweet and sour, and way too sweet (there's pineapple in the soup). The fish did not taste good or fresh. The fried squid was very bland, and the beef lac lac was a bit too saucy and sweet, too.

I have eaten with groups of friends at this restaurant for almost 40 years; both lunches and dinners. The food is consistently good; service is quick and friendly; the place is clean and reliable, not fancy.

Usually a line up with a minimum 15-30 minute wait regardless the time of the day. Parking is of course, horrible in this area. Although paid parkades are nearby. The food was nice and fresh. Ordered the staples from them and nothing bad to say about it. Flavour is good but imo nothing really stands out as a wow or something that would warrant another visit. The restaurant is cozy with plenty of tables and the service is so-so The chicken wings and butter beef was the go to as usual

Straight-Up Flavor Bomb! Yo, nestled smack dab in the heart of Vancouver's OG Chinatown, Phnom Penh restaurant ain't playin' around when it comes to droppin' some mad Cambodian cuisine knowledge on ya. Roll up and you're hit with straight-up vibes and the smell of spices ticklin' your senses. The spot's chill yet lit, with a mix of heads from the block and tourists vibin' together. Decor's on point, throwin' it back to Cambodian roots with dope art and pops of color. But let's cut to the chase - the grub. Phnom Penh's got a menu that's off the hook, mixin' up legit Cambodian eats with a dash of Chinese and Vietnamese flair. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or just getting your feet wet, they got you covered. You gotta start with their butter beef - sliced thin and drenched in a sauce that'll have your taste buds straight-up doin' the happy dance. And them chicken wings? Straight fire, crispy and seasoned to perfection - you know those joints are a go-to. So, we roll up to this spot, orderin' up a storm, and our servers are straight-up shook by the spread we're throwin' down. One of 'em even cracks a joke, sayin' we can't cop no to-go boxes unless we clean house. Challenge accepted, fam. We crush every last bite, and when we polish off the final dish, our server's givin' us a round of applause like we just dropped a freestyle in the cypher. Straight-up epic. But yo, word on the street is Phnom Penh gets mad busy, especially when the block's poppin'. So, either be ready to wait or slide in with a reservation - you don't wanna miss out on this flavor fiesta. Overall, Phnom Penh brings the heat, takin' you on a trip to the streets of Cambodia with every bite. From the bomb-ass dishes to the chill vibe, it's no wonder this spot's got heads comin' back for more. Whether you're lookin' for a quick bite or a full-on feast, Phnom Penh's the spot to be. Trust.

The hype of this place is real!Came here solely because it's hyped all over Yelp for their butter beef. Wait times were reasonable, probably waited 15 minutes for a table of three. Got some of their most popular items as recommended by Yelp and the server. The food:Chicken wings 10/10- Wow. Just WOW! These were super crispy and came with a lemon pepper sauce on the side that was super sour but tasty with the wings. Wings are cooked perfectly cooked on the outside and juicy on the inside. A must get!Vietnamese drip coffee 9/10- Your standard drip coffee that hits the spot for that caffeine kick! Butter Beef 8/10- The star of the show. The dish that everyone raves about. It's a raw beef carpaccio dish that is served with a super sour vinaigrette topped with a bunch of parsley and fried garlic. It's not a flavour I was expecting, as I've never had anything like this but it was a great flavour. Beef Luc Lac 9/10- Super tender saucey beef served with rice and a sunny side up egg. Needed some salt or fish sauce but the flavour is there!Dry noodles 6/10- Not for me. It wasn't flavourful and was quite bland. It lacked a lot of flavour and didn't quite hit the spot. This was highly recommended by the server as a best seller, so I'm not sure if it's just a personal preference thing. Would come back for the chicken wings and butter beef to have as a quick snack. Perhaps would also have to try their other food items next time.

Be the first to ReplyBest restaurant I had in Vancouver.
My partner's friend recommended this place to us and we wanted to eat it as our last meal in Vancouver. We got the beef, fried chicken and another dish that were ALL extremely fresh, crispy and tender...This place is a MUST in Vancouver.

Can't get enough of their marinated butter beef and chicken wings. Staff are very friendly. Great vibe too!
Be the first to ReplyWe arrived around 9:30am and were told it would be a 1.
5 hour wait. They were right, but it was SO WORTH IT! This place was insanely crowded but for good reason. It was quite hard to get the attention of the staff at the front because everybody was crowding around! Once seated though, it was not difficult to get any staff's attention and...

Food was absolutely amazing! Family favorites was the lemon chicken and the beef rice! The service is quick and ambiance is great for bringing over the family. If your in the area, this place is a must try, just make a reservation or expect long wait times.

We came here on a rainy Sunday looking for something warm and comforting. We had to try the famous chicken wings (YUM) and the Hot & Sour Soup with Prawns plus one of their fried rice dishes. Everything was hot and amazing and so flavourful. Ask for a side of their chili oil if you like spice. It was worth the 45 min wait time for a table! Anticipate a wait or make a reso as they are rightfully, very busy!

Best wings in Vancouver I would have to agree! I'm on keto and unfortunately they are breaded but my husband loved them. I had their butter beef it was great! Definitely come here when visiting Vancouver! We went back and I had their pork chops amazing!
Be the first to ReplyGet there early because it fills up fast at lunch.
Typical busy Asian joint but the flavors and menu items are fabulous. No wonder it fills up so fast. A real hidden gem in the Chinatown area of Vancouver.

How did it take so long for me to come here? Everything we got was perfection: marinated butter beef, the chicken wings and Bo Luc Lac with a side of white rice. This restaurant might be in my top 3! I will for sure be coming back and ordering different things - the entire menu looked too good!
Be the first to ReplyDecent Vietnamese place with lots of options.
The most interesting dish was the raw beef with garlic chips and cilantro, definitely worth trying once but not sure if I would get it often. The fried chicken wings were solid but nothing too special. Pho and basil clams lacked flavor - the broth was very bland and there were way too many noodles for the amount of meat you get. The curry was also a bit bland and watery, and the bread served with the curry was far too dense to be able to soak up the curry sauce well; they should have used French bread instead. Prices are quite high, most dishes were $20+. The iced lime soda and Vietnamese coffee were pretty good though. Overall not too bad but for the price, not quite worth.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant was one of our go to restaurants until this
This restaurant was one of our go to restaurants until this past weekend. We tried making a reservation and they will not accept a reservation for less than 6 people. And so we invited a few more people and reserved for 7 people. And the only reason they will take your reservation for 6 or more people is because when its time to pay the bill -- they will greet you with an 18% automatic gratuity!!! -- because there are 6 or more people on the table. We did not know nor did they mention anything about the gratuity before that instance. Our food bill was close to $250 and therefore they are getting a tip of close to $50 -which I think is just outrageous - considering that the place is very noisy and a very casual restaurant. I guess they need to maximize profits and leave us - the customers -- to pay for their server's wages! totally disappointing!
Be the first to ReplyBelieve the hype.
Worth the wait. The butter beef and the chicken wings are as good, if not better, than everyone says it is. Be prepared to wait and don't go to close to closing or you might not be sat. Also, come hungry!
Be the first to ReplyHad a wonderful early dinner here.
We need walked in at 4:45pm on a Friday and got seats right away, which we later found out is almost impossible! So I suggest going earlyWe enjoyed the Vietnamese Combo C, the Butter Beef, and Cambodian dry rice noodlesWalking past other tables the fried prawn dish looked amazing, wish we had room for thatLovely server, very helpful when we asked him for recommendations. Food came out quickly too!
Be the first to ReplyLine is absolutely bananas.
.. we got to the front of the "line" then there was still about an hour-and-a-half wait but I think this restaurant is worth experiencing. Food was fairly good.
