Great restaurant for a vegan and a meat eater to share a delicious, fancy French meal!
Be the first to ReplyA memorable meal.
Service was impeccable but not overly cutesy, and that included all the staff (our waiter was Mario). The food was excellent-- my wife's onion soup and moules marinere were perfect. The peppercorn sauce for my steak was outstanding. Wine choices were great.
Be the first to ReplyAn absolute delightful experience every time.
The ambiance reminds me of Paris or parts of New York. I've been here with my husband and taken my mom here a few times now, and the food has been well-prepared and reliably tasty. The service is wonderful and professional, attentive without being overly attentive. We will be back soon!
Be the first to ReplyWonderful service.
Quaint atmosphere. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was stellar - slight variations on traditional French cuisine.
Be the first to Reply70 dollar steak was served cold.
It was over $300 dinner for 2 people. Even after making a reservation, we were seated at the worst table, table was so small to fit all the dishes we ordered. They took 45 mins between appetizers and main course. And they rushed us to finish dinner early. Horrible customer service. Food was meh as well.
Be the first to ReplyWe were very disappointed in our experience at Perle.
When we arrived, many employees were going to and from the front desk, but nobody really took accountability for acknowledging us and making sure we were checked in for our reservation. We finally got their attention and checked in. We asked if we could get a drink at the bar while we waited, which they acted like was an unusual request but accommodated us. I later found out this is due to the fact they take reservations for the bar and needed to ensure availability. It should be noted they don't have a full bar. I wanted a Negroni, for example, but not one made with Soju because they don't carry Gin. We went with wine. At dinner, the French onion soup was very good. For an appetizer, we wanted something simple and thought the freshly made baguette sounded interesting. It was underwhelming. For our main dish, we each got the filet steak frites. One was cooked as requested, the other was literally burnt. The management was very apologetic and remade it, but the replacement was also served burnt. We will not be returning given this experience.
Be the first to ReplyReservation: problematic.
Tried to use your online system, which insists on a credit card for possible fees. It is absolutely no problem to get charged when I do not show up. I know it happens waaaay too often and is, especially for small restaurants, a genuine problem. However, it is unacceptable to agree to fees without knowing how much. Food: very tasty. I had the pate - served with bread = fine. The girls shared the charcuterie board, which is served without bread. Why? Then, they tried to get bread - and here comes the most problematic part: Service: Our server was nice, very nice actually - if we could find him. We always had to look out for him. While we enjoyed the food - for my taste, it was too much truffle for the small amount of pasta, but the girls loved their fish/ mussels/ fries, the mark you left was not good enough to impress us. It's a shame, really! Before I put this post online to you, I sent the above to the restaurant to give the restaurant a chance to fix this. In return, after days, I was lectured that I was, as far as it comes to reservation, wrong. So I tried again before I posted this - and ran into the same problems. Hence the two stars - could have been more.
Be the first to ReplyThe best vegan French food.
Love this restaurant and can't say enough good things about it. Have dined here numerous times and always 5 stars and service is amazing.
Be the first to ReplyU will live this awesome place.
.. exceptional from staff, service, and quality of food. We sat at the bar and the bartender was so nice and made sure everything was great for us. We were told the menu changes at times and that's awesome! Recommend this place 200%. Go for all occasions. Will definitely be back!!
Be the first to ReplyWOW. I can't believe I'm just now discovering this
WOW. I can't believe I'm just now discovering this restaurant after all these years! I really don't know what to say other than the food is EXCELLENT and the service is very attentive. My only advice would be if ordering the caviar, order the 1oz serving since I thought the 1/2 oz was not enough (although I can put down some caviar). I will DEFINITELY be returning!
Be the first to ReplyI took my sister to a birthday dinner.
The entrees was terrible. The Branzino was bland and tasteless. Looks like home cooking for Michelin standard. The Truffle pasta was too salty and again doesn't look like it was cooked by a chef. What happened here! The onion soup was ok, very little onion with bunch of croutons and very salty at the bottom. Horrible experience. This will be my first and last time here. No, I will definitely not recommend this restaurant. My home cooked meal tastes a-lot better than this. So disappointed~~

I tried this year's valentine's day menu and it was pretty yummy. Also, had one cocktail with passion fruit. Their soufflé tastes soft and was pretty sweet for me. Services were ok cause it was a bit busy for them so not attentive enough. The server also offered us free champagne cause we did not really like the lobster bisque. The outdoor seating was nice and warm.
Be the first to ReplyThis is maybe the 5th best meal I've ever had in my life.
It was really good and holds up against some of the really high end restaurants that we've been to. It was pretty pricey, and I was really skeptical when I saw the price that it would be worth it, but it exceeded expectations. We went for Valentine's Day and had the prix fixe menu. Everything had a great presentation and was really tasty. The duck liver was amazing, the truffle arancini was great, the lobster bisque had pepitas in it and was really unique. The beef Wellington was just really savory and had a great sauce. Service was exceptional and the restaurant was really classy.

We went to Perle for our anniversary and had a wonderful meal. They were very welcoming and gave us a cute, secluded table in the corner, which made for an intimate meal. The French onion soup and the apple tartine are musts. I enjoyed my steak frites with béarnaise sauce. The steak was perfect, with a crisp crust but still medium rare as requested. My partner enjoyed the branzino, and the portions were better than expected. We will be coming back for our next celebration!
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant needs to work on refining their staff.
The servers are not coordinating together . When we first arrived, our server asked me if I wanted a cocktail. I ordered a Negroni. I was never informed that it was not made with gin later I found out that they do not have a full bar, and they only serve wine and beer and make all their cocktails using a wine products. I ordered charcuterie which was good, however it arrived simultaneously with our salads which we asked our server to space out between courses. I ordered my duck medium and it came rare. I had to return it. It was brought to me properly cooked. However, my wife was almost done with her meal. The desserts were above average . I would not go back to this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyEverything you want in classic French cuisine with all the
Everything you want in classic French cuisine with all the contemporary stylings. The flavors of an excellent "casual chic" restaurant as you would feel lucky to find in Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux... The compact wine list offers something to complement every dish. We started with a dozen oysters (table of six) so fresh and tasty with just-right shaved horse radish... the rosé champagne we paired with this was spot-on: dry, clean, fresh, mmmmThe bread offered the restaurant a usurious profit margin-- this was the biggest deviation from a French meal in France-- Paying extra for a truly small basket?!? (Pas une demi baguette là dedans...peut-être un tiers) .... But the bread, and the fresh butter served with it, were delicious, so, no complaints about quality and the high price of inflation is high The warm goat cheese salad, perfectly adequate, was the lowest point of the high flying flavored meal. Not a thing wrong here, just nothing to change your life the way the rest of the meal could. Each of us adored our main courses: two opted for salmon and two for duck breast. Fish and fowl were cooked just to... hmmm... "à point" such that each melted in the diners' mouths and left us very glad we ordered what we had. One of us ordered steak tartar. It was presented on a plate prepared in the kitchen...perfectly seasoned such that the diner did not miss at all having had it prepared table side. Good as all those dishes were there was a winner: earth-shatteringly umami-rich black truffle pasta. THIS complemented the Vieux Télégraphe Télégramme (younger vines...delightful spices and lovely long finish) so very well that i want to return for just a bottle the latter and plate of the former and sip and chew and...mmmmm....But wait, desserts were so good. Huge to the . Best tart au citron I've had in two decades and the scrumptiously rich chocolate soufflé...mmmm.... I'll keep dreaming of these both for days. I'm not a crème brûlée guy, and neither is my son, but he insisted his fave of the three desserts was this one and my small bite of it...well, i am still not a crème brûlée lover but my bite brought me a step closer to the notion this classic is worthwhile too. Everything was picture perfect and those who served us were kind and ever ready to provide anything we desired.

Perle is the kind of restaurant you WISH was in your own home town. Service was experienced & friendly. We had the frisee lyonnaise & avocado toast for a light brunch. Both dishes were great. We'll definitely be back for a more hearty meal! The frangipane croissant was DELICIOUS with a hot cup of brewed coffee to finish the experience. (The macaron weren't as successful but seriously a valiant effort).
Be the first to ReplyFood was pretty good.
However, service was much to be desired. The food arrived but no table setting. Didn't finish dinner yet but desserts came out. So when we finally were able to eat the desserts they were cold.
Be the first to ReplyPARKING: Street (metered) or Parking Garages.
Please note that the restaurant does not validate. There are multiple garages in Old Town (one directly across the street from Perle, but I have found this to be more expensive than the others).AMBIANCE: Intimate, noise level low, and dimmed lights. Tables were a bit too close to one another. NOT kid friendlyDRESS CODE: CasualMENU OPTIONS: Tasting menu (4 courses for $125pp). Duck, fish, steak, pasta.DRINKS: they do not carry spirits; their cocktails have a Soju base. I had the featured cocktail and it was delicious! The only complaint, cocktails are too small! The pours on the wine are generous though! Ordered: escargot, green salad, duck and salmon. portions are a bit small, but cooked to perfection and was very tasty! We also got the chocolate soufflé (yum!!) SERVICE: Attentive and very friendly! Our server was Oden and he was amazing! I didn't get the hostess' name, but she was friendly as well! PRICE: ~ $70ppOVERALL EXPERIENCE: portions were a bit small, esp with the cocktails. Food: 4/5 stars (-1 due to portion size)Service: 5/5 starsVenue: 4/5
Be the first to ReplyWe reserved a spot at the bar via Resy.
It's a small place and tables are close together. We really enjoyed our spot at the bar. Off you're a party of two, I highly recommend this option. Jesus and the other staff at the bar took great care of us. Jesus took great care in explaining the menu, answering our questions and making recommendations. On to the food! We ordered:1926 Cocktail. Light and refreshing. I wanted to try a drink that featured Lillet. A bottle of Gael Petite. A light red wine. Baguette and butter. OMG! It's not to be missed!Escargot. Buttery. Garlicky. Oh. So. Good. All for me! My husband does not like to partake! Oh well, his loss. French Onion Soup. So warming on that cold and rainy Saturday night. Steak frites. Medium rare. To share. It comes with ketchup. Order mayonnaise. Their mayonnaise is so light and creamy. Chocolate soufflé. Warm, chocolatey and decadent. This was an enjoyable meal! I wouldn't mind repeating this meal again and again!
Be the first to ReplyMother birthday.
Dinner for three.Service is impeccable.Wife had the chicken, didn't finish it nor anyone else.Tasting menu was just ok.Steak was the zenith of the evening.Escargot was good.Nothing else was remarkable. They don't serve cocktails
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best meals we've had in recent memory.
Everything was fantastic, instead of raving for paragraphs on end I'm just gonna put pictures up and say that it was better than several of the top restaurants I've gone to in Pasadena. I forgot to take a picture of the steak tartare it was out of this world!
Be the first to ReplyWe went to see a Sondheim musical at the Pasadena Playhouse
We went to see a Sondheim musical at the Pasadena Playhouse on a Sunday and my husband found Perle (named after the Michelin- trained Chef Yasharian's daughter) and it was a gem! The menu is reminiscent of what you would find in French restaurants but more importantly, Perle captured the taste and the ambiance. Here are tips and helpful info:1. Parking - came for 5:30 Sunday dinner and no street parking so used public parking a block away on Union Street - $10 2. Reservation - decided same day to come so no indoor reservations but found a 5:30 outdoor reservation. It was cold (right after CA winter storms) but took a chance and the patio heaters helped. Bar dining also available so check out their website3. Service - everyone (front staff, guy who sat us down- manager?, wait staff) was super friendly 4. Food and drinks - here we go...DrinksAlsace Spritz - reminded me of its Italian twin, Aperol Spritz (perfect accompaniment to a cream- rich meal), acted as good palate cleanser for meFrench 1975 (special menu)- identical to TomCollins using champagne instead of soda water (lemony and refreshing)Starters Escargot (6 pieces) - in its shell which is a rarity and perfectly well seasonedServed with a side order of the perfect baguette and butter sprinkled with salt and pepper Pate de canard - since the California law banning foie gras in 2004, this is as close as we can to fgand it was the perfect bite French Onion soups - gooey fromage and cooked to perfection Main entreeSteak with frites - my hubby said it was ok for he asked for medium rare and cooked medium but he finished to the last bite and of course we were both admiring and enjoying then perfectly cooked pomme frites Moules en frites - tried it first in Belgium and Paris 20 years ago so I order it when I see on the menu. This version was way better than the ones I had in Europe so kudos to the chefTip- On second thought, I would have ordered a salad instead of the French Onion soup before the moules (served with broth :)) but my eyes were hungrier than my tummyChocolate soufflé - takes 20 minutes to make so keep in mind to place your order early so no need to wait after meal. This was served with homemade French vanilla ice cream (wow)NOTE: Tasting/ Pre Fixe menu was availablebut we decided to order ala carte for allour favorites were on that menu and so glad we did The Chef trained with Daniel Boulud and Gordon Ramsay before opening Perle in March 2020 - the fact that it survived the pandemic is a miracle.Nous serons de retour!
