Great Steak/ Friendly Service
We were given a gift certificate to Pellana’s Steak House in Peabody MA and were very please with the food but 5 stars for the wait staff who served us: our waiter Roberto and his associates Michael and Adriana.
Be the first to ReplyPricy but delicious
Don't expect to leave for anything under $130 per person. Even with only a single glass of wine it was slightly more than that. Having said my bit about price... it was totally worth it! Easy seating for a single person, I made us of one of their, "Comfy chairs". And comfy it was. A quick water glass fill and a bread basket and I was on my way. I ordered 1/2 dozen oysters; this close to the shore, how could I not? three pairs of local, freshly harvested oysters were brought with the usual accompaniments of cocktail sauce, vinegar, horse radish, and lemon. Sweet, briny, delicious! Then a glass of Meritage wine was brought to go along with my New York Steak and separately ordered side of Blue Cheese Mashed potatoes. The steak was about 3 inches thick and perfectly cooked for my taste. The addition of local blue cheese to the potatoes nicely accompanied the flavors. I was unable to fit any desert, but there was several selections that looked excellent. Everything is ala-cart. There are no combination meals offered. But that allows you to customize to your heart's content. Unless your Elon, Bill, or Mark this probably wont be an every day, week, or even month thing. But for a treat-yourself-day (or impress a foodie date) I would highly recommend Pellana.
Be the first to ReplyAppetizers in need of refinement!
Pellana’s onion soup is disappointing. The beef broth is weak, watery and lacks flavor. The onions are scant. I was aware that the cheese topping is Mozzarella not Gruyère. Their choice of cheese and the amount used is unfortunate. For the price, they should use Gruyère! The end result is unpleasant spoon wrestling with mounds cheesy strands which makes enjoying the soup impossible and awkward. The clams casino were better. Loved the tasty little clams but the HUGE slab of bacon topping made an unrefined presentation. The kitchen needs to up its game!
Be the first to ReplyVery Expenisve and horrendous service
Let me start off by saying that the steaks at this restaurant are very good. However, that’s about the only thing good about this place and you can get just as good of a steak at other places that don’t lack in other departments as this one does. First of all we had a reservation for 8:45 pm and didn’t get seated until 9:15/9:20. This is unacceptable with a reservation in place. On top of that no one apologized to us or even mentioned it at all. No one seemed to care. Not to mention we walked up to the front desk and no one greeted us or acknowledged our presence either and we stood there very awkwardly until someone paid attention to us. The next thing that struck me about this place was the decor. It looks like something you would find in a funeral home. Gave me very creepy vibes and reminded me of my grandparents funerals. It’s also extremely dark in the whole restaurant and very loud. Think funeral home with loud music blasting and that’s what this restaurant is. I couldn’t even hear myself think. The service was atrocious and extremely slow. It took forever just to get our drinks by the time we got our entrees it was basically time for breakfast. Now like I mentioned , the steak was very good. However everything else was just mediocre. the food wasn’t bad it just wasn’t anything great and not worth the bad service And horrendous atmosphere. Also very very pricey for what you get. Over $500 for 4 people and we were treated like garbage and the food was just ok. Definitely would not go here ever again
Be the first to ReplyNYC Style Steakhouse
The atmosphere, service, menu and yes prices, are true to a NYC style steakhouse. The wine list is extensive and includes some affordable options as well as high end offerings. Our waiter, Jim was very professional and friendly. His recommendation for the bone in strip steak was solid. The French onion soup and house salad were very tasty. For sides. the baked potato and truffle fries were good, but I was not a fan of the creamed spinach. Only negative was that the porter house steak was cooked unevenly; while the strip side was medium rare, the filet was overcooked. Great place for a business meal or special occasion.
Be the first to ReplyClams Casino all night long
We have been here a handful of times and it’s always consistent. Today for apps we got our usual : 2 orders of clams casino (my boyfriend is obsessed) and the lump crab cocktail w the Dijon dipping sauce. Never disappoints! Dinner we split the filet topped w blue cheese crust, two baked stuff shrimp and crispy onion strings. The filet was cooked TO PERFECTION! And the shrimp were so sweet and fresh! I felt like one of those shrimp by the time we were done! Lol Dessert he got the 7 layer chocolate cake and I stuck w the raspberry sorbet. You could order anything there and you will not be disappointed! Just make sure you bring some serious loot.
Be the first to ReplyNever a Bad Meal
I’ve been to Pellana several times now and have always walked away feeling I had a great meal and a really good time. The ambience is old school classy, the waitstaff (with the exception of one surly guy) has always been first rate, the food pretty much flawless. Steak houses are always pricey and, keeping that in mind, this one isn’t too bad. It looked like the bar was hopping at happy hour. I really, really like this place.
Be the first to ReplyOne of best steak restaurants on Northshore. Highly recommend.
One of the best restaurants on Northshore. Great beef and service Is tops. Must make reservations as they are a bit short on staff. Staff is well vetted and know the menu.
Be the first to ReplyNew chief needed
The atmosphere and service here were great. We were looking forward to a special meal. We both ordered fish. The quality of the fish was great, but the chief ruined it by dumping large quantities of salt on it and then drenching it in butter. Couldn't taste the fish for all the salt and butter.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
We have frequented this restaurant for many years and we were sadly very disappointed in our service and the length of time it took to get our meals. They were out of sparkling water? I have never heard of that happening before. Our waiter was quite rude and unhelpful and really didn’t care. A few of the people that delivered salads were very nice and kind but the waiter was just awful. This restaurant is very expensive and we wanted to take our friends there to enjoy the fantastic food and service but things have gone downhill. We won’t be going back anytime soon!
Be the first to ReplyNice meal!
Had a great late lunch/early dinner! Clams casino, wedge salad, filet and Mac & cheese. All excellent!! Super Tuscan wine was also very good. Roberto was a great waiter.
Be the first to ReplyA True Steakhouse serving Prime Cuts
Pellana is fashioned as a traditional Steak House, dark wood and dim lights to set the ambiance as a throw back classic Chicago "Meat Shop". Booths ring the walls of the dining area. All staff wear black with white shirts. Serve staff know their Menu and are willing to give suggestions. My nephew started off with Tuna Tartar served with fresh homemade Tater Chips and followed by a New York bone-in, my wife had the Ahi Tuna slightly seared on a bed of seaweed, and I had the Sirloin bone-in. We ordered sides of Portabello Mushrooms and a Baked Sweet Potato. Each of the entrees were nicely prepared, as we're the sides. Ended the meal with the Chocolate Cake, just enough bites for the 3 of us. We had a nice family dinner on our last night in the Salem area and will definitely put Pellana on our list for our next visit.
Be the first to ReplyVery expensive average dinner
Went to pellana for a special anniversary dinner. Waiter was very friendly but not personable. Got onion soup app. Was good not great. I prefer it in a crock type cup with cheese melted down the side. I Got rib eye and wife got tuna. Rib eye was very good. Tuna was not. Presentation of the tuna was very poor and had little taste. No dessert. We decided to get dessert at home. Waiter said thanks we paid the $200 bill and went on our way. Very expensive unmemorable dinner. Too many good restaurants out there to go back to this one.
