Go if you like duck! Or anything else Chinese actually
Busy Chinese restaurant - and thatโs for a reason: great food and as always in chinese restaurants freshly made. Overall a bit pricey but quality and price goes hand in hand here.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive, not very clean and not very welcoming, too bad!
Attracted by the reviews, I enter this rather bare place, with a rather cold welcome. I discover to my regret that the famous duck is available for a minimum of 2 people (it can fit). From a culinary point of view, I ate the best prawn ravioli ever, accompanied by a hearty and excellent General Zou chicken. The price is out of proportion by European standards, unfortunately in line with NYC prices. Some doubts about the cleanliness of the place.

The Peking duck tastes like what I had in Beijing. Over the years the prices have become ridiculous. Two years ago a whole duck was $45.00, now itโs $80.00 nothing not even rice comes with it. Vegetable was $15.00 now. Very expensive for what you get!
Be the first to ReplyTasty Chinese cuisine
Very good Chinese cuisine with a very varied menu It's not cheap but the flavors and quality are there. The service is attentive and the restaurant is impeccable, you eat on white tablecloths which is pleasant. I recommend
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, quick service
One of the best Chinese weโve ever had! Food was quick to come out to the table, taste was amazing! Beats most of the Chinese we have back home in the UK!
Be the first to ReplyGood experience
Great experience of a fine restaurant with good chinese food and fast service. We will surely come back again and advise to try it.

Lots of food. Good service. BUT the peking duck was not great. First time I have ever not finished it. The skin was still attached to fatty meat and was not crisp. My memory of their uptown restaurant of many years ago was much different. The hot and sour soup was good. The orange beef was not spicy at all. Would not eat here again
Be the first to Reply10 years on, still a great experience.
Visited 10 years ago and it was excellent then, especially for the Peking Duck and the serving ritual. Glad to see that in the 10 years, nothing has changed.

Came here as it was in the Lonely Planet Guide book which we have used many times previously for recommendations. Very disappointed. Starters very average. The duck was very tender but the skin was certainly not crispy. Fat not rendered but I can only assume that cooking the duck whole makes this difficult. They did supply plenty of pancakes. The main entrรฉe, rice and vegetables were the best part of the meal. Staff were the least friendly of any restaurant we have visited! This was our most expensive meal during our New York stay yet the most disappointing.

Came here at 8.40pm on a Wednesday. It was full and we were shown to a table. Then ignored for ages. The Peking Duck was $81 - no option to just order a quarter or a half. The three of us therefore ordered the duck to share. They said we'd also get rice, which we had to ask 3 times for. When we were seated and being served the waiter said we'd have to hurry as they were closing the kitchen at 9pm. The food was OK, nothing special and not $81 worth! To top it all off, we were literally pushed out the door at 9.25pm. Not sure why they let us come in if they wanted to close so early!!

This place was seriously disappointing. We were so looking forward to a meal in China town, NY but unfortunately it did not meet expectations. We ordered dumplings that were over cooked (chard) at the bottom, under cooked at the top. Should be par fried par steamed. I have had far nicer in a UK takeaway. We also ordered crispy duck which had clearly been sat in the deep fat fryer for far too long and was tough and tasted of fish oil, disgusting. We asked for the waiter's advice on what to order and he seemed very annoyed by this. To top it of the waiters were rude and unhelpful and didn't ask how our meal was so we couldn't give feedback. Avoid at all costs... gutted I spent so much money here, clearly a tourist trap. If I could give this place a minus 10 I would.
Be the first to ReplyDreadful food
We tried the famous Peking duck at the Peking Duck House. We had to buy a whole duck which was carved next to our table. The quality was dreadful. the skin was supposed to be crispy and the fat rendered. Instead we had flabby skin and white solid layers of fat. The other dishes we ordered were bland, greasy and underseasoned. It was possible the worst meal we had in years. Avoid at all cost.

Gets good review in guide book, but very disappointing. Peking Duck was not good. Go where the locals eat, itโs not here.
Be the first to ReplyReally average food, dirty restaurant
Strange place really. No atmosphere, dirty looking , abrupt unfriendly staff but the food was so average compared to most Chinese meals Iโve had A shame as I expected more
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the trip
Not worth the trip to chinatown for this pecking duck. Food is ok but totally average. Duck on the dry side. Service is indifferent, no wine or liquor list. Beer in a bottle without even asking if a glass would be preferred. Overall just not worth it.
