Good food! No longer opened.
New place is in midtown... under new ownership! I will miss the place on the upper west side of Manhattan!
Be the first to ReplyInexpensive.
Helpful staff, and regular seating. Sushi is made fresh to order at the sushi bar/ bar. Tasteful food!

They think you have the luxury of waiting 2 hours for yout food ? Apparently, they wait until they have e built up enough orders to send the delivery guy with all of them at once. You wind up with cold food/ food all over the place in the bag because of this. Good luck with your new location. You should not be delivering to the upper west side if you can't make it here in a reasonable time. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. YOU WILL REGRET IT !!!!!I did. 5 years a customer here, now I'm gone.

Food is fresh and delicious (I had the scallion pancakes, dumplings and mango chicken) and the delivery was lightening fast.
Be the first to ReplyFor traditional Chinese delivery, Pearls is the best.
Granted, it is more expensive than the super cheap Chinese takeout places - but the quality is a lot higher as well. Their Peking duck is a bit of a splurge, but comes with a huge amount of meat - enough for two people for dinner - with some leftovers for a lunch the next day. the lunch specials are good - classics like Chicken with Broccoli are fresh, greaseless and flavorful. Moo shu, roast pork buns, har gow, chow fun - all are consistently good. Their spicy offerings are good as well - I recommend the shredded beef with preserved veggies and the jalapeno dried bean curd pork. I recommend calling your order in - the food comes in like 30 minutes. Also, they will do substitutions - I always get beef subbed in for the pork dishes. The noodle soups have gone downhill, unfortunately. And some of the fried dishes are predictably gloopy. I am not suggesting that Pearls is a gourmet Chinese place - not all. For dining in, I would give it 4 stars - but the delivery is so consistently fast, accurate, and not greasy, that I stick by my five star rating.

When in to buy food place is normally friendly last time I went the lady behind the counter was extremely nasty. I'll never go back there again. Next time I'll go to Ollies up the street.
Be the first to ReplyHow sad, I use to love this place.
For the past 15 years everytime I visit NYC this was a stop to eat the Pekin Duck. Today was horrible, from the service to the food. We were the only customer, that should say everyting. This place use to be pack, not anymore.
Be the first to ReplyI've been desperately searching for a good Szechuan
I've been desperately searching for a good Szechuan restaurant to deliver on the UWS. I think I've tried most with variable results, but Pearl's is definitely not one of the good ones. EVERYTHING that I ordered was horribly over-sweet, even the ones with a "spicy" description. The "shrimp" dumplings had no hint of shrimp, just terribly doughy blobs in a mysterious (and unmentioned on the menu) sesame sauce. The crispy beef with broccoli featured broccoli with the texture of noodles. The squid dish, which I have fortunately forgotten the name of, could have been a dessert. And I paid $68 for this ungodly mess. Reasonably priced? Gimme a break. This is "American Chinese" at its very worst. Avoid at all costs.
Be the first to ReplyI have food poisoning from from this absolute garbage.
Avoid at all cost. I delivered the sweet and sour chicken and had to assemble it myself - meaning the sauce chicken and veggies all came in separate containers... what?! The chicken was hand crafted by satan, and was bready and crumbly. I understand that chicken from these American Chinese restaurants is mystery meat, but this was something entirely different. The pork dumplings were very bland and even slightly undercooked. The fried rice is okay but very salty. I didn't think it was possible to screw up these basic dishes so badly. I am now sick on a Monday workday greeatttt. The food came in 15 minutes which in this context makes sense. I'm getting ripped tonight RIP my bowels AY!

Their menu stated Lunch SpecialI ordered sweet and sour chicken with pork fried rice. Menu said $6.95 The woman answering the phone had no personality at all. I placed my order for pick up. She asked if I wanted soup or egg roll and I decline both instead I asked for a Pepsi. She went on about how the soda is not included and I said it was fine. I arrived and got my order. She told me the price was $11.98. I asked if this was the lunch special meal because the menu stated $6.95 and that is with soup or egg roll. She said it's in the menu the price. I just left with my order paid the $12.00 and went home. I opened my package and the chicken was over cooked and so crunchy. The rice looks like it has been around for a long time. I eat and order from many Chinese places throughout NY and never had an order like this. In fact for less money I get more than they gave me. Not good

Three hours after we ordered and still no food (and no one answers the phone). If they had some sort of technical issue they could have at least reached out to customers.
