Parkhotel Laurin Bolzano Reviews from The Last Year
Great!
We recently spent some time at the Park Laurin hotel. Pros: * upon check in we were given a room upgrade without us asking for it. It was a very comfortable room. * the staff throughout the hotel is just excellent. Every interaction we had with them was pleasant. The front desk staff is incredible. * the breakfast brunch was one of the best I've ever seen. * the location of the hotel is excellent in regards to the town. * the parking lot for the hotel is directly across the street from the hotel. Cons: * it is paid parking, which they do specify on their website. I will also note that the parking spaces are very narrow. * the air conditioning in the room isn't very robust. At the lowest setting you will not be sleeping in a chilly room. It was cool enough but just barely. * in the bathroom they do not offer shampoo and conditioner, instead they offer a product that advertises itself as an all in one: body and hair; to me this is kind of gross. I asked a room cleaner about this and she said that was all that they had. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Lovely stay!
I love this elegant hotel -- the room was so pretty and comfortable. The beds were great. The restaurant served one of the best meals we had in our three week trip to Europe. The people at the front desk were helpful. I can't wait to come back!!!!
The classic "Grand Dame" Hotel in Bozen, with excellent management
The Laurin is a charming old "Grande Dame" hotel in the absolute city center of Bozen, reachable by car (with outside parking area right in front), with a beautiful garden, a nice breakfast terrace, and a relaxed pool and outside bar, providing an oasis of relaxation. I particularly liked the cigar lounge. My room was big and well equipped. The general manager is excellent, always checking every detail, and very helpful in case of a special request (in my case, a button to be sewn on a club blazer, outside the normal working hours). The service is very good troughout the hotel. I really enjoyed my stay at the Laurin!
Great Location in the heart of Balzano
We knew the parking for the Hotel was across the road and has its own separate entrance at the Parking Lot but you can't access it unless you get a ticket from Reception on arrival. So you need to drive up to the Hotel Parking boom gate, then the passenger needs to go to Reception and requests a ticket - cost 20E's per day, which we thought was reasonable given that you will always get a parking spot. Apart from the very friendly young man that checked us in we found all the staff on Reception efficient but unsmiling. Our room had air conditioning, had a lovely view over the town and mountains and a quirky set of metal stairs leading to a private suspended balcony with a table and chairs on the rooftop - Suite Room 522. The bed was comfortable with extra pillows, and bathrobes in the wardrobe. The garden is delightful and very serene with a lovely pool area, an outdoor bar and restaurant. The location is excellent just a couple of minutes to the main square. Breakfast is also excellent, the usual European fare with eggs to be put in the boiler, but on our second morning we were offered an omelette. Staff in the breakfast area couldn't have been nicer and more thoughtful, we asked for cappuccinos and there was no extra cost. I would have given the Hotel 5 Stars if the Reception staff were friendlier.
Overall a Great Choice
Reception area looks uninviting and check in was not warm. Once we got beyond those hurdles we found the room well appointed and in great shape and comfortable. Breakfast is excellent and served in a gorgeous dining room. We had lunch and dinner in the restaurant. It is an excellent restaurant and would definitely eat there again. The bar was a highlight for us because the room is spectacularly beautiful, service very good and drinks superb. I will stay here again and highly recommend it.
Good location but can’t sleep from the noise of the housekeeping
The hotel is located exactly in the center, 2 mins walking, the breakfast is great a lot of choices however I gave the hotel 2/5 because first of all, it was written that the hotel is with air conditioning but when I reached I was shocked that there is no air conditioning and when I asked for the fan they told me that they don’t have but Patrick the manager gave me a fan. The second annoying point is the disturbing part, I had to wake up every morning at 7 because the housekeeping keep banging the doors and cupboards when cleaning as if they are in purpose doing this behavior so we can wake up and they can clean early and have the full day without work. Also, the car parking is very expensive 21 euros per day. Moreover, I found 2 insects in 2 different days and when I informed the receptionist they told me that it’s normal because we are in village Overall, the only plus in the hotel is the location and breakfast, other than that it doesn’t worth.
Older, but well maintained hotel
The Hotel is older but appeared to be well maintained. We had a superior double room which was spacious by European standards. Breakfast was very good. I thought the hotel was overpriced compared to similar hotels that I stayed in during this trip, which was why I didn't give the hotel a 5.
Highly recommended!!!!
The hotel's location is strategic because it is very close to the station and the historic center of Bolzano. My room was very clean and, despite facing the street, it was well insulated and very quiet. The restaurant's cuisine is excellent and very refined, not to mention the breakfast, with a very rich buffet and an abundant offering for both those who like sweets and those who prefer savory foods. I also recommend taking an aperitif at the hotel bar, where you can breathe a particular atmosphere... from other times....
Nice room with a broken TV that couldn't be repaired
We had a beautiful room that had been recently renovated. The beds were also great. However, the TV didn't work and there was no prospect of it being repaired. The service employee we called said that they would have to hack the wall open again to replace the defective WiFi cable. However, another room that was offered only had a bathtub, which wasn't an option because of my recent back surgery. So the stay was slightly spoiled because the hotel didn't offer any other concessions. The breakfast was wonderful. The food service was also really very good.
an off-season weekend
hotel lives up to its name, friendly and knowledgeable staff, fantastic and unique bar. excellent restaurant but could improve in the offering of dishes. something a little more sophisticated without neglecting quality. Breakfast with a wide choice of products. It's definitely worth it
Very pleasant stay
A venerable hotel, a little dusty, but a very pleasant stay, perfect location. Service impeccable, breakfast plentiful and delicious, Contamino restaurant worthy of a star. We were even allowed to check in early in the morning because the room was free, thank you very much for that.
Hunt for the coffee cup!
Incident happened at the hotel bar. I would like to point out the incompetence of a waiter whose name I don't know, but I remember his appearance well: he wore a black shirt and was thin and very tall. Well, I was drinking a coffee in complete relaxation, when suddenly I saw an arm snatching my cup from the table at lightning speed, without giving me time to intervene to say that it wasn't empty. But the fact doesn't end here. My husband called the waiter back, specifying that I had not finished consuming the coffee. Then the waiter went looking for my cup, without apologizing, and brought me back one that wasn't mine, as it had an empty sugar sachet "I don't use sugar!", I exclaimed. No apologies from him. After rummaging in the sink and among the trays, he returned with my cup and put it on the table: something not worthy of a place considered prestigious. Faced with my indignation, he asked if he should make my coffee again. By now patience and relaxation had disappeared, so I rejected his proposal, which had come to an end, demonstrating terrible service and unacceptable behavior.
Generous
The old town of Bolzano is characterized by its crooked old town. Not so with the Parkhotel Laurin: what a joy to stay in this clearly structured and well-run hotel with a sumptuous breakfast. Each room is personalized with pictures of the impressive painting collection of over 200 works. A book on display at the reception summarizes these in a beautifully laid out manner and confirms the impression of being in a place with subtlety.
Historic hotel, great location
The Parkhotel Laurin is a very short walk from the train station. It’s an old hotel which comes with some good and some not as good. The room was surprisingly large with a nice view. The room had a bed (two twins pushed together), couch, table, and desk and chair. I’m not a fan of carpet and this was fully carpeted. There are not many plugs available on the room and the plugs don’t seem to be the standard European plug. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was good sized but the door opens somewhat into the toilet. The shower is a high tub with the half glass wall. Good water pressure. The hotel is right by a Christmas market and a short walk to many restaurants and shopping. Also a short walk to the river. The team at the hotel was nice and tried to help with the strange limit on devices on their Wi-Fi. First time I’ve run into a device limit and not ideal. The bar was festive and quite popular. The breakfast (included) was quite good. Delicious yogurt and fruit options. And a tasty cappuccino.
I'll never set foot there again
I will never set foot in a hotel again where I pay 180 euros per night for a room located above the party hall, without any sound insulation, with relative bombardment of terrible music at high volume until midnight, when instead I would have liked to rest and dedicate myself to things more interesting and relaxing
The Ultimate Relax for New Year' Eve...
A bit superfluous as I write a 5* review every year😅 Every bit of this organisation excels, from roomcleaning to restaurant, reception and ofcourse the Laurin bar. We see many familiar faces amongst personell every year. Very pleasant, becoming a New Year' tradition.
Excellent
Exceptional, everything perfect. Beautiful room, organized down to the smallest detail, very clean and tidy, excellent location a few steps from Bolzano station and right in the centre, courteous, helpful and very kind staff. Everything really perfect. Wonderful experience.
