Great Food!
We had a reservation to eat here but needed to stay in for the evening due to the sun. Instead, we ordered it to go and brought it back to our room. The food was amazing, hot, fresh, and very tasty! We had a variety of appetizers, side items, and main dishes. Everything was delightful. I look forward to eating here again in the future!

I read some of the latest reviews and was skeptical. Staying at the grand Hyatt and wanted something good to eat. The food was phenomenal. The calamari was a 10. The fish and chips is the best Iโve ever had. Iโm from Savannah so Iโve had tons of fish and chips but they were the best. The burger was out of this world. Iโll be going back there every day Iโm here.

First and foremost this is a 5 star establishment covering location, service, ambiance and management. If youโre looking for a classy place with a great view this is it. Our experience was โalmostโ great tonight from the valet greeting to the managers holding the entry way doors. Bar service was great and the staff is very friendly and engaging . The fresh bread and butter well done and the oyster selection very fresh and well presented. The caprese salad was also very well presented and done. We had the pork shank with mashed potatoes that came out nice and hot and fall off the bone. A generous portions as well with leftovers. The seafood trio (lobster, scallop and shrimp) was a disappointment. The lobster warm and rubbery as were the scallops. The large gulf shrimp were done well but thatโs about it. The charred Brussels sprouts were also good so we had a decent meal. Was impressed that the managers visited the tables and made it a point to recognize my birthday dinner. The manager was also very sympathetic to my seafood dish being not up to par and made proper amends. We will be back as there is so much more to try.

Very dissapointing. This being touted as a highend seafood place was kind of a misrepresentation and disrespect for seafood . The GAMBAS AL AJILLO was no closer to the actual spanish recipe .It was not at all a Gambas Al Ajillo as I have tried that in spanish restaurant and this oyestercatcher dish does come any close to the original recipe. It was basically three shrimps in a sauce. The restaurant staff should learn how to make a original Gambas Al Ajillo before adding it to the menu. Same with the Fried Calamari ..Hardly fried and the pieces does not have any flavor or even a proper batter - Another dissapointing dish. The most dissapointing was the BOUILLABAISSE IN SOURDOUGH .There was hardly any seafood .Infact there were more baby tomatoes that sea food.BOUILLABAISSE is not made that way and I can count one shrimp, one scallop ,two or three calamaris,a piece of fish and two pieces of mussel meat . No flavor or taste and the dish does not justify the hefty price . My wife tried the crab cakes and again the same story .Very little actual crab meet and hardly any flaor or taste. In my opinion Eddie V or Ocean prime are better options if you are trying out seafood in that Tampa down town area. The only positive was the view from where we were seated as you can see the bay area but one will be highly dissapointed if your primary objective is to eat seafood.

We had dined there before. My daughters meal was good, however mine was not, but I decided to give it another chance. I'm so sorry I did. The food was terrible. The "grilled" grouper was overcooked and was swimming in a awful gravy and my chewy gnocchi also had the same horrible gravy and the tiny lobster tail was like mush as if it had been soaked in water for a long time, it had no flavor whatsoever. A 1/2 glass of Chardonae at $17 way over priced as was the whole dinner. at $147 Will not go there again - ever!!!

Expected MORE. $44 bucks for Grouper, it looked fancy. But, TASTELESS. We went with friends, for their anniversity. Our waiter was spot on. Had better Grouper at DIVES. Won't return.

It has been a few years since we dined at Oystercatchers-a favorite of ours-since we relocated away from Tampa. We chose Oystercatchers for our Anniversary dinner and invited friends to join us. The place was pretty much the same EXCEPT the menu. No pasta seafood choices. The Grouper was a very nice serving, nicely cooked. HOWEVER, it was bland. The sauce did not enhance he fish meat. The Scallops and Small Plate Sea Bass were excellent. The Service was very good-until it got busy!! Disappointed we drove 1 1/2 hours for an underwhelming meal.

We had been here before and loved it. We came back again to see if it had changed. It had. It was even better! We loved the several kinds of bread, signature oysters, caviar with all the fixings, yellowtail snapper, and scallops. There are also several decadent desserts to finish your dining experience. We loved our waitress, Debbie, who had a happy and friendly smile and made several timely menu suggestions. The general manager, Carlos, was always behind the scenes to make sure everything went perfectly. And it did. The famous head chef, Alessandro Silvestro, is constantly finding new dishes, and had added several since we had last been there. There is plenty of parking, and valet is available on weekends. The oceanfront view is spectacular, and the ambience is a combination of romantic and comforting. It remains our favorite restaurant, and we will be back again soon.

โฆ.to get it all here: outstanding food, outstanding decor with a great view, and outstanding service. Oystercatchers is a relaxing lounge-like place to unwind, enjoy a glass of wine (recommend that Mersoleil Chardonnay!) or cocktail. Come early before your reservations and relax in the bar area. The bar staff are fantastic. For dinner, anything on the set menu is going to be outstanding. But they usually have several specials. This is one of those places where you can get unique cuts of fish that you usually canโt find elsewhere. For example, the last time I was here, they had fresh caught Cobia (but not on the menu). Just ask the wait staff what types of fish they have. They can cook to your own specifications but I find the wait staff does an outstanding job recommending for the best cooking methods for different dishes. The kitchen also uses wood grilling for unique flavors. Even the gratis bread is excellent - fresh out of the oven with sea salt for dipping and imported butter. The chef and team here are amazing. The wait staff are excellent - attentive surveillance without being rushed. I would not recommend coming here looking too casual - while this is โlounge-likeโ, it is still upscale dining to the point that one should look presentable (business casual is always fine and recommend leaving the baseball caps and flip flops at home).

While this restaurant is pricey, you get what you pay for! Excellent culinary selections as well as service. We took our teens for New Yearโs Eve dinner and they also loved it! We saw everything from casual resort wear to tuxes. We have been back for birthdays and it is consistently good! Beautiful view of the bay!

Beatiful restaurant, but maybe a bit limited selection of menu. Price overcharged, I mean, for 175 bucks each, food should be so much better: Calamari fries, Crab cake best options. At least service is amazing.
Be the first to ReplyTotally Botched Reservation
I made a reservation nearly a month in advance for 2/14/2023. I had an email and text confirmation for this reservation. We arrived and were told that they had emailed and texted me that the only reservation they could offer was their Special Valentine's Day Dinner for two at $130 per person. They claimed that they had notified me of this. There was no notification on my email or text. We were of course not prepared to spend that much money on a single dinner on a moments notice. There was no text, no email. So in my opinion they lied about it. They refused to honor the regular reservation. Needless to say we were very disappointed and I was quite angry about this.

Oystercatchers has a nice selection of fish. The grilled Grouper or Halibut are very well prepared. The lobster & crab bisque is also very good. If you are a fan of mac and cheese you should try the delicious five cheese mac and cheese. For dessert the key lime pie is excellent. The service is professional. The dining room offers a beautiful view of Tampa Bay. Always a great experience at Oystercatchers.

This is painful to write this review. I have loved this place for over 2 decades and we went tonight for my son's birthday and it's not the same. We sat at the bar waiting for our table and the bartender was awful. She never greeted us and finally took our order and it was like we were bothering her and it wasn't busy. There was a wedding so we couldn't sit outside. Nobody's fault. Our server inside was insanely good. Food was just ok. Seafood trio not that great. Ahi tuna just ok. Halibut was the best option. Even with the views sadly we won't return.

Food, drinks and service was amazing! Great menu and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. We had a great view of the water and we will be back.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible Dining Experience
The Lobster Crab bisque was bland and tasted like a butternut colored bowl of heavy cream with no visible pieces of Lobster or Crab $16.00 a bowl. The Lobster Ala Catalan was a very small overcooked warm water Lobster that had no flavor and rubbery with a couple of radishs and cherry tomatoe slices with vinegar sprinkled on them for$45.00 a plate.$18.00 a piece for small glasses of Margaritas that tasted horrible as the were made with jalapeno peppers pineapple juis Don Juan Blanco and lime .Brunch for 2 $209.00 with tip and the Worst Dining experience I ever had in my life.

Had the fish and shrimp tacos for lunch. Got to eat outdoors with the crow. (He was well behaved.) Good fries.

Before out trip through Tampa we had made a reservation at Bern's Steak House. However, since we ended up staying at the nearby Grand Hyatt, we changed our plans and decided to try Oystercatchers. We are very glad we did. It is an easy stroll over the boardwalk from the hotel, or you can take a shuttle. The space is attractive and clean with a nautical vibe. Service is outstanding. Tito's martini was made perfectly. My wife and I shared the Wild Berry salad. She ordered the Blackened Verlasso Salmon and I had the Pecan Wood Grouper. The food was just outstanding. They have an extensive selection of wine and beers also. The J Vineyards Pinot Noir was quite good. Prices are high, but the product is worth it. We will definitely plan to visit again when in Tampa.
Be the first to ReplyLovely Monday Lunch
We had a wonderful lunch on Monday. Tyler, our waiter, did a great job in taking care of us and making sure everything was fine. We started with cocktails and tea. Then lobster/crab bisque soup. My wife had their Verlasso shrimp, with rice and asparagus. I had their shrimp tacos. Our bill was $96 before tip. Yea, a bit expensive, but the view of the water is worth the price of admission.
Be the first to ReplyGood but wanted more
I've been wanting to eat here for awhile and it was good. I need to give it one more shot to say it was great. I made reservations but we got there when it opened before it got busy and sat outside. Valet doesn't run everyday so if valet isn't available then you can self park in the valet or in the self parking area. I started with a dozen oysters which were really good. They rotate their oysters daily. The baked oysters were delicious and they use bigger oysters for that dish. I then had their burrata salad which I felt was lacking. The tomatoes were a little mushy and the pesto I felt needed to be showcased because it was delicious. After that I followed with the mussels which were a little cold and the broth was good but not the best I've ever had. Our service was good but our server had way to many tables and was the bartender. They really needed help. I'd try this spot out one more time to see if I have a better experience.
