Oystercatchers Tampa Reviews from The Last Year
Nestled behind the city scale like the pearl of an oyster
Nestled behind the city scale like the pearl of an oyster hides one of the finest seafood establishments abutting the Tampa Bay. It's harder to find quality seafood on this side of the bridge, but OCs has me hooked just as they caught all those oysters. I have been a couple of times now and each has been a special occasion. Special in that we were at this upscale eatery and so by default it is now special. OCs just has that effect on people. It starts with their entry way. Immediately greeted by a chipper hostess who whisks you and your party through a seaside elegant dining room adjacent to their open kitchen concept. Once passed like a baton in a relay to the server he/she will walk you through the menu. Trust me you will need assistance. Of all the dishes I gave tried thus far my favorite has been the crab gnocchi. Made from scratch soft and doughy gnocchi decorated what felt like a platter of fresh lump crabmeat. Prices are higher, but here you definitely get what you pay for. A real treat from the sea at OCs!
This little gem is hidden in the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay.
The food was delicious and the service was incredible! We ordered the Shrimp Cocktail and Burrata for appetizers and they were both amazing! My husband and I shared the Grilled Grouper and Lobster Gnocchi for our entrees. The Gnocchi was probably my favorite. It was a little on the rich side, so it was a nice dish to share. The Grilled Grouper was a little on the dry side, but I've heard good things about it so I'm willing to give it another try. Overall we had a wonderful experience!
Soup was cold when served.
Chilean sea Bass was dry and flaky like it was a frozen piece of fish. Shrimp was overdone and rubbery. Finally , we had to send back our steak because the first piece was inedible. The management did bring out a new steak, but one person in our party had to eat alone. The ambiance was cold and the overall experience was disappointing.
Great Food!
We had a reservation to eat here but needed to stay in for the evening due to the sun. Instead, we ordered it to go and brought it back to our room. The food was amazing, hot, fresh, and very tasty! We had a variety of appetizers, side items, and main dishes. Everything was delightful. I look forward to eating here again in the future!
Consistent restaurant with good food and beverage menu.
It's one of the best restaurants to watch the sunset in Tampa.
Oystercatchers in Tampa has an INCREDIBLE brunch spread
Oystercatchers in Tampa has an INCREDIBLE brunch spread that is sure to please all. From gourmet french toast - to cheesy grits - to omelets & eggs Benedict... it was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. However!!! *important note* -- because of its popularity, you may need to expect a wait. Best to make reservations! While waiting for a table can be a bit inconvenient, the dining experience that awaits makes it well worth the patience. Overall, Oystercatchers is an excellent brunch choice despite the wait for seating. If you're in good company, you won't mind the wait.
Amazing food friendly service beautiful scenery
I read some of the latest reviews and was skeptical. Staying at the grand Hyatt and wanted something good to eat. The food was phenomenal. The calamari was a 10. The fish and chips is the best I’ve ever had. I’m from Savannah so I’ve had tons of fish and chips but they were the best. The burger was out of this world. I’ll be going back there every day I’m here.

I found this restaurant to be wildly underwhelming & overpriced. I don't really have much to say, but the service was sub par and the prices exceeded what I think they should. I think my expectations were too high. My tuna appetizer was bland and my husband's $25 hamburger was average.

First and foremost this is a 5 star establishment covering location, service, ambiance and management. If you're looking for a classy place with a great view this is it. Our experience was "almost" great tonight from the valet greeting to the managers holding the entry way doors. Bar service was great and the staff is very friendly and engaging . The fresh bread and butter well done and the oyster selection very fresh and well presented. The caprese salad was also very well presented and done. We had the pork shank with mashed potatoes that came out nice and hot and fall off the bone. A generous portions as well with leftovers. The seafood trio (lobster, scallop and shrimp) was a disappointment. The lobster warm and rubbery as were the scallops. The large gulf shrimp were done well but that's about it. The charred Brussels sprouts were also good so we had a decent meal. Was impressed that the managers visited the tables and made it a point to recognize my birthday dinner. The manager was also very sympathetic to my seafood dish being not up to par and made proper amends. We will be back as there is so much more to try.
Need to try again

The food was very, very disappointing.
Five of us for dinner. The "crispy" whole fish was dry and burnt and had no taste. The bouillabaisse was dry because they served it with a large hunk of bread on top of it that sucked up all the liquid. So we had dry fish and soggy bread. The oysters were not worth $4.00 each. The service was pushy. We won't be back.
We're big fans of this place for their stellar seafood.
Recent visit was for New Year's Eve. Tried the Wagyu NY Strip, won't make that mistake again. Seafood is their specialty, I'll stick with that going forward. Order the Tuna, Lobster Gnocchi, and Octopus. All are excellent. Bonus points, BYO Wine allowed.
Not Great ,Not Good but even average
Very dissapointing. This being touted as a highend seafood place was kind of a misrepresentation and disrespect for seafood . The GAMBAS AL AJILLO was no closer to the actual spanish recipe .It was not at all a Gambas Al Ajillo as I have tried that in spanish restaurant and this oyestercatcher dish does come any close to the original recipe. It was basically three shrimps in a sauce. The restaurant staff should learn how to make a original Gambas Al Ajillo before adding it to the menu. Same with the Fried Calamari ..Hardly fried and the pieces does not have any flavor or even a proper batter - Another dissapointing dish. The most dissapointing was the BOUILLABAISSE IN SOURDOUGH .There was hardly any seafood .Infact there were more baby tomatoes that sea food.BOUILLABAISSE is not made that way and I can count one shrimp, one scallop ,two or three calamaris,a piece of fish and two pieces of mussel meat . No flavor or taste and the dish does not justify the hefty price . My wife tried the crab cakes and again the same story .Very little actual crab meet and hardly any flaor or taste. In my opinion Eddie V or Ocean prime are better options if you are trying out seafood in that Tampa down town area. The only positive was the view from where we were seated as you can see the bay area but one will be highly dissapointed if your primary objective is to eat seafood.
Nice change of scenery compared to the hustle and bustle of
Nice change of scenery compared to the hustle and bustle of downtown Tampa. Shared the fish with my friend. Relaxing bay views, and well rounded menu. Service was excellent. Will go back.
AWFUL
We had dined there before. My daughters meal was good, however mine was not, but I decided to give it another chance. I'm so sorry I did. The food was terrible. The "grilled" grouper was overcooked and was swimming in a awful gravy and my chewy gnocchi also had the same horrible gravy and the tiny lobster tail was like mush as if it had been soaked in water for a long time, it had no flavor whatsoever. A 1/2 glass of Chardonae at $17 way over priced as was the whole dinner. at $147 Will not go there again - ever!!!
Disappointed.
Expected MORE. $44 bucks for Grouper, it looked fancy. But, TASTELESS. We went with friends, for their anniversity. Our waiter was spot on. Had better Grouper at DIVES. Won't return.
Unfulfilled Expectation.
It has been a few years since we dined at Oystercatchers-a favorite of ours-since we relocated away from Tampa. We chose Oystercatchers for our Anniversary dinner and invited friends to join us. The place was pretty much the same EXCEPT the menu. No pasta seafood choices. The Grouper was a very nice serving, nicely cooked. HOWEVER, it was bland. The sauce did not enhance he fish meat. The Scallops and Small Plate Sea Bass were excellent. The Service was very good-until it got busy!! Disappointed we drove 1 1/2 hours for an underwhelming meal.
OUR VERY FAVORITE TAMPA RESTAURANT
We had been here before and loved it. We came back again to see if it had changed. It had. It was even better! We loved the several kinds of bread, signature oysters, caviar with all the fixings, yellowtail snapper, and scallops. There are also several decadent desserts to finish your dining experience. We loved our waitress, Debbie, who had a happy and friendly smile and made several timely menu suggestions. The general manager, Carlos, was always behind the scenes to make sure everything went perfectly. And it did. The famous head chef, Alessandro Silvestro, is constantly finding new dishes, and had added several since we had last been there. There is plenty of parking, and valet is available on weekends. The oceanfront view is spectacular, and the ambience is a combination of romantic and comforting. It remains our favorite restaurant, and we will be back again soon.
A Trifecta winner…
….to get it all here: outstanding food, outstanding decor with a great view, and outstanding service. Oystercatchers is a relaxing lounge-like place to unwind, enjoy a glass of wine (recommend that Mersoleil Chardonnay!) or cocktail. Come early before your reservations and relax in the bar area. The bar staff are fantastic. For dinner, anything on the set menu is going to be outstanding. But they usually have several specials. This is one of those places where you can get unique cuts of fish that you usually can’t find elsewhere. For example, the last time I was here, they had fresh caught Cobia (but not on the menu). Just ask the wait staff what types of fish they have. They can cook to your own specifications but I find the wait staff does an outstanding job recommending for the best cooking methods for different dishes. The kitchen also uses wood grilling for unique flavors. Even the gratis bread is excellent - fresh out of the oven with sea salt for dipping and imported butter. The chef and team here are amazing. The wait staff are excellent - attentive surveillance without being rushed. I would not recommend coming here looking too casual - while this is “lounge-like”, it is still upscale dining to the point that one should look presentable (business casual is always fine and recommend leaving the baseball caps and flip flops at home).
Excellent meal
While this restaurant is pricey, you get what you pay for! Excellent culinary selections as well as service. We took our teens for New Year’s Eve dinner and they also loved it! We saw everything from casual resort wear to tuxes. We have been back for birthdays and it is consistently good! Beautiful view of the bay!

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
