Cosy Italian place with friendly staff
I can’t tell how many times I’ve been to this place. It’s a little Italian restaurant. Very cozy with a great service. All the atrás is very friendly, including the owners. Food is good and inexpensive. It’s in the seaport area, which is a historic charming neighborhood. I’ve been coming here for years and will definitely will keep coming for as long as they are open. I always get the Paccheri, Cacio & Pepe, and a Chiati Classico

Wandering around South Street Seaport looking for a restaurant, we stumbled upon this restaurant. Even for a Weds evening, it was rocking. Great food, good wine selection, excellent Negronis, smallish tables, great atmosphere, so enjoyable we returned for our last night in NYC. Would we return? Next time we're in New York it'll be our first port of call.

Passed this restaurant as we were out walking today as they were setting up their outdoor dining. We stopped to look at the menu and we’re impressed with Eduardo taking the time to answer questions about the menu. We decided to make reservations for dinner. We were not disappointed. My friend and I had a big lunch so weren’t terribly hungry. We split the Mango salad and the Tortellini Toscani. Both were excellent. We ordered decaf cappuccino’s, a Crème Brûlée and a Berry tart. Very enjoyable. I noticed a white wine from Lamezia which is where the airport is located when I go to Italy. It was very good. The service from all the staff was excellent. Special kudos to Eduardo our waiter. We never felt rushed. Definitely would go back if we’re ever in this area again.

We had just toured around Governors Island and the South St., Seaport area, and it was a Saturday night. The area was hopping and we checked three or four restaurants and could not get in anywhere. We decided to walk back to the subway when we came upon this restaurant which was bustling but cozy. We were shocked that they had a beautiful outdoor table for us and we ended up having a delightful evening. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious and the price is very reasonable for that area.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent choice for Italian in Southside Seaport
We were headed to another restaurant when we came upon Osteria Del Porto. The outdoor seating area drew us in and we went no further. After visiting Italy a few years ago we always look for an aperol spritz on the cocktail menu and this one did not disappoint!! We had the seafood risotto, sea bass and the Paccheri Pasta (homeade pasta with shortrib ragu) All were excellent! For desert we enjoyed Tiramisu and hands down the best Creme Brulee I have ever had! It was my daughter's 24th birthday, our server, Fernando brought out her tiramisu with a candle and they sang to her. Maurizio, one of the owners couldn't have been more welcoming and attentive. He stopped by and bought us a round of drinks to celebrate! We will be back!!

Very close to the much updated South Street Seaport venues, this fine Osteria is a very good choice. The menu has many interesting selections and there were 3 specials for our visit. The fettuccini is homemade and light. That special dish had large shrimp. Our other choice was cavatelli with a red sauce including sausage. Both were tasty, well prepared and recommended. The wine list had a good selection of open wines by the glass (including a Falanghina which we liked) and even more fine bottled wines. The service was friendly. We enjoyed our table in the open summer air on the street corner where the Osteria is located.
