Perfecto
We’ve enjoyed eating at Osteria Danny’s for several years. The menu is always a little different and imaginative. We recently visited Italy and Danny’s is as good or better than any other restaurant we ate at in Italy. We live out of state but visit often and always stop at Danny’s. Service was great. Be sure to ask for the EVOO and balsamic vinegar for the wonderful Italian bread. The wine list is very good and atmosphere very Italian!!

Great food. The sticky date cake for dessert melted in my mouth. Everything was excellent. The eggplant was delicious. The size of the meals were huge; you could share them.
Be the first to ReplyKeep Expectations in Check
Saratoga is such a charming town with so many restaurant options which is why we were excited to try one of the top rated restaurant in town. It’s great to see this restaurant flooded with so many positive reviews which set our expectations for the evening. Unfortunately our expectations were not met and our dining experience fell flat. From the moment you walk into the restaurant it does not take but a few minutes to assess the situation that this is not a restaurant for atmosphere. The place is small and the number of tables make it feel so cramped and uninviting. The place is loud and the staff appear to be running around in crisis mode or at the very least seem frazzled. Our waitress greeted us in a hurried manner really giving us no indication we were valued customers but rather just another table to contend with. We get it, this place it a hot spot for customers, and has no problem reaching 100% occupancy on prime evenings, but with that said, popularity doesn’t guarantee superior customer service or professional staff. We as customers received neither. When I asked our waitress for her opinion of the more popular dishes she replied: “sir I’m juggling 4 tables right now and I don’t have time to answer that, you will have to wait.” Seriously? At first I thought she was joking but learned quickly she was not. Politely we signaled to the hostess/owner our dissatisfaction and our waitress was replaced, but it was obvious the owner/hostess viewed us as the problem and not so much offered us an apology. Again, popularity doesn’t buy class. Hats off to the chef. The food is delicious and worthy of culinary praise and recognition. Bottom line: keep exceptions low in the service and atmosphere department but keep expectations high in the food department and you won’t be disappointed. We have no need to go back to this popular restaurant with so many other restaurant options in Saratoga.

Gourmet food with a friendly, laid-back atmosphere. Amazing service and a unique menu that features a gourmet's take on classic American food. I heavily recommend the Veal Danny (veal and lobster with an irresistible mushroom sauce). Free parking!

This is a casual place with food of a far from casual sophistication. Our server was extremely helpful, with a great sense of humor, and our dishes were a welcome surprise for a small, albeit very beautiful, town. We highly recommend this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyYou can count on Danny’s for outstanding food and service!
Danny’s has been our favorite Saratoga restaurant for several years. The food is always delicious and the service top notch. Unfortunately, we have been there when large parties of drunk and loud men have ruined the experience for everyone. Tonight we had a lovely experience.
Be the first to ReplyIf you like a loud obnoxious dining experience, this is the place for you
With all the hype surrounding this restaurant and the long wait to reserve a table, I expected more. What I really didn't expect was the frat party atmosphere when we walked in the door. It was loud, and not the kind of loud from a small restaurant. It was loud like this was the normal clientele that frequents this establishment, that all know each other and don't know how to use their indoor voices. I asked the waitress if it was always like this and without hesitation, she said yes. Tables are very close together and we were seated directly between two large tables of 1 party. They were yelling over the top of our table. A very sad and disappointed couple who had the misfortune of being stuck at another table between this group said "yeah this isn't good but the food is worth it". Actually no, the food is not worth it. We asked to move and were told no (by the hostess), even though there were other tables available. The choice was they either move us or we leave. They reluctantly moved us to the "quieter" area - really no such thing but at least away from the frat party. And the same thing was happening in the front of the restaurant. A young couple trying to enjoy their dinner and quietly trying not to look annoyed by the other "known" diners who treat this like a private supper club. The waiter upsold the food and wine, which was fine. Might as well sample what we can because we won't be back. The food was good, not exceptional. The 8oz filet as $58. I ordered it medium. It arrived medium rare. The veal was $46. First we asked for the unfinished veal to be wrapped to take home. I then asked for the remainder of my $58 steak to take home. The waiter tossed it instead. He said he didn't think I was serious about taking it home. Nice. If we are spending $200 for two people for dinner, I would like to be able to hear the person sitting across the table from me and do not expect the rude behavior from the staff and other patrons. Truly disappointing.

Just arrive in Saratoga for the beginning of the racing season. The town was buzzing with excitement on a warm Wednesday evening. Was lucky enough to get a bar seat at Danny's ( thanks Laura ) Great specials menu along with people watching.
Be the first to ReplyFive stars all the way....
WOW - so glad we picked this place for dinner. It was busy and we showed up with a reservation...they found a table for two without issue. I have to say the weight staff and hostess were EXCELLENT! The food was hot and delicious. Stephanie was our waitress and she was on top of everything and with a smile and kid word each trip to the table. Recommend the Bada Bing Shrimp to ANYONE! The fresh bread and Caesar salad!
Be the first to ReplySecond time definitely not a charm!
This was our second time dining here. We went during the winter and had such a great experience that we decided to drive from NYC for my Birthday and dine here again. Talk about a 180!!!! Let's start with our server, when he heard what our last name was he started cracking inappropriate Italian jokes, using language that would've gotten him fired anyplace else. We shrugged it off, after all it was my Birthday!! He asked if we wanted to pick on some olives, we said sure not realizing there was an $8.00 charge for 5 olives and barely there provolone, he never told us! The bada bing shrimp was overly sauced as was the signature veal Danny. I had the veal parmigiana on the bone with homemade pasta which was excellent. Here is where it all falls apart. When I got up my Husband asked the server if anything was sent for my Birthday. Family members knowing it was a milestone birthday asked where we would be dining. Our server said that he didn't think Patti (Danny's wife) answered the phone that day since she was at a funeral. The next day we found out that my Brother tried to send us a bottle of wine and our Daughter who lives in another country tried to send champagne. They had been calling all day and left several messages. No one ever got back to them. I emailed Danny to let him know and this led to a rather unpleasant email exchange. He said that he was sorry my expectations weren't met????? What did that mean? That anyone would've expected a business phone to be answered especially during business hours??? The end result is that Danny said the next time we are in Saratoga we should take our friends and go someplace else, I suggest you do the same.

Second time we have been to Danny’s and it was just as great. Small intimate atmosphere very much in the manor of a real Italian osteria. Homemade meals and desserts were superb. Reservations recommend with some nice outdoor tables, if that’s your wish.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful dinner
Wonderful dinner with family of 6. Space is cozy for sure but you quickly forget about the space when the food arrives. Staff were so nice to talk with and Shane was terrific. Started with the burrata, brussels sprouts, octopus, and eggplant. Plenty to share of each and delicious. For entrees we enjoyed pork chops that were cooked perfectly, brick chicken, pasta carbonara and a beef and pork ragu with homemade pasta that was fantastic. Looking forward to our next visit.

Excellence all around. Food and service the best we have experienced in a real “foodie” town of Saratoga Springs.
Be the first to ReplyJust OK
The place is tiny, very loud and they pack and I mean pack you in. Our waitress was TERRY who promptly told us “her regulars love her”. We did not. Within the 1st minute she tried to upsell us and it continued the entire night. I guess to pad the check for a bigger tip, It was blatant and out of line. A big turn off. I only wanted a glass of wine, she talked my spouse into a bottle. I didn’t want an appetizer because I was not very hungry. When I placed my order for shrimp the way my Father liked it, her response was, “oh, you’ll need an appetizer then”. What was her message, the entree was to small to satisfy me?? I did not need an appetizer and couldn’t finish my entree. Every step with Terry was annoying and rude. I’m no amateur in a restaurant but I felt like she was trying to take advantage of us. The Food was just ok and Nothing spectacular. I had shrimp, my spouse a pasta dish. We shared an appetizer of pork bellies over polenta - different yes, but again just ok. With so many options in town, I won’t be back. The tight space, noisy room and the waitress Terry were all big negatives.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was good, the service was bad (this was quite the experience)
About a month ago, I went to Danny’s for dinner, and I never posted the review on google. Yesterday I went to Danny's for dinner. I will preface by saying that I was sober and did not drink alcohol. I found myself questioning my perception of reality at this restaurant. I thought in the beginning that maybe I was misinterpreting and misunderstanding things. But as I talked to my friends, I found that I was accurately reading the situation. I found the restaurant and the server aggressive and a bit too much. We had the sever Terry, and I found her to make us uncomfortable. She was very loud and would shout next to my ear to the point where I would cover it. We were also being rushed, and it was apparent. She would try to take our plate away before we were finished. Terry would also make comments about my appearance, which were all positive, but made me extremely uncomfortable. Many things we ordered did not come out, but some items we did not order. Many of our drinks were taken away before they were finished drinking. She also joked about saying she was taking sips from our glasses. This raises the question of why our glasses disappeared before they were finished. We received eight bottles of Saratoga spring water, but we were never offered tap water, which I admit we Could have spoken up about it. But there were many other errors with the out bill. She would also try to take away bottles of water we were being charged for that were still full and try to get us full bottles to try and rack our bill. And I vividly recall her trying to take a bottle with about a glass's worth of water left and her trying to take it away and offering to get us a new one. I told her no and that I wanted to finish that bottle before she took it away. On the receipt, it said we ordered four plates of ravioli, and we received 2. We also received 2 of the killer ragu, which was terrible, and we didn't even order them... We also asked for a steak medium rare, which came out a bit rare than we expected, and when we asked for it to be heated, a bit and then less of the steak came out. I didn't think the steak should have shrunk that much after being heated. We also ordered specifically four limoncello's and 8 of them came out. We also ordered four desserts, two pies, and the cheesecake. For the desserts and what we ordered, a crembule came out, sticky toffee, and a flourless cake came out, and we were charged for it. The flourless cake was a birthday cake with a candle, and they charged us for it without asking. I will say that the real carbonara, the shrimp burrata, and the ravioli (but we were charged for four and only got 2) were delicious, and I enjoyed them immensely. The waitress Terry also spilled an espresso martini on one of the guests and then tried to wipe it off my friend's pants/crotch area and proceeded to try to pat it out there. Then when I started helping, she commented how I was wiping it off his "crotch," which I found to be a bit distasteful. And to this day, the dry cleaning bill has been left unanswered. This experience was quite unsettling, and this restaurant did not pop off. The food was low-key mid, but some things were delicious. Mainly my issue was with the server. She lowkey gaslit us by starting by rushing us, and by the end of the night, she painted this hero narrative of making sure we wouldn't get kicked out. We were not expecting anything to be comped, but we are not expecting to have sneaky charges for things we didn't order. The restaurant service and vibes were just off, and it's a lot to handle when you're sober. Our group had a fun night with each other, and we couldn't help feeling taken advantage of for the extra charges. I feel like Terry thought we wouldn't notice or remember these additional charges and added all these things on. Or maybe it could have been an honest mistake. But that would be a mistake that was repeated throughout the entire evening.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food reservations a must
Great Italian-American food with portions just right and a nice wine list. Excellent service with good recommendations. Tables are close together and the place is packed so make reservations, there’s no other places close by to hang out if you’re waiting on a table. We would definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous quality and quantity of good
The food- consistently excellent! The bread is crispy and chewy served with butter or a white bean paste. It would be possible to have a meal on the bread alone! We each chose a pasta and we’re stunned by the quality and quantity of food served. Our waiter was professional and personable. At Danny’s- it’s all about the good.
Be the first to ReplyAnother awesome dinner at Dannys
I grew up in an Italian family. My maternal grandparents were immigrants from Sicily and Gram was a terrific cook. Her ricotta ravioli, braciole, meatballs, etc. were incomparable. Eating at Danny's reminds me of Sunday dinner at Grams, great food, lots of Italian family, loud and happy, and happy smells. As usual our anniversary dinner at Danny's was wonderful. We visit Saratoga a few times of year from the Carolinas and we attempt to visit Dannys every trip.
Be the first to ReplyGreat meal, a wonderful time!
We had an incredible meal! The details behind how the food is prepared are amazing. We started with the burrata that came with tomato jam, prosciutto, Crostini and arugula. My husband had the fresh made pasta with Bolognese which he enjoyed very much. I had the Henry Street chicken which confused me a little bit first when looking at the menu with the chicken broth but let me tell you, it was absolutely superb. Ryan took very good care of us and was a delight. Next time we’re in Saratoga springs, we will be back to this restaurant. Truly amazing! Reservations are encouraged, we booked the night before and for Monday the only options we had were five and seven. This worked for us but it is a small restaurant so I would encourage you to make a reservation.
Be the first to ReplyFair takeout on a rainy Monday
Three meatballs in a tomato sauce. A pistachio cheesy pasta and a coconut cream pie suggested by the maitre d. No bread or salad provided It was $85 that’s ( $115 to us from Canada ) with the tip. I accepted this although none of the choices really wowed us. Perhaps dining in would have been the better option. Yes I am willing to try again in our next visit to the spa city. Nice takeout containers!

We were seated with a smile (at dinner time without reservations). Staff was friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. The food was delicious and presentation was excellent.

We were so excited to come here as it was rated #2 in Saratoga. (Last night was 15 Church which was AWESOME). Tiny place and SO LOUD!! Nothing at all relaxing about the experience. Terry was a very good wait person. Our manhattans were yummy. Chopped salad was ok. The fettuccine in pistachio pesto was DELICIOUS as was the sea bass. BUT THE NOISE??!!!! Nothing at all relaxing about this visit. Definitely not “dining” but rather “eating”.

I visited with a party of six and had a wonderful experience. Everyone was happy with their entrees. The service was great! I really enjoyed myself, can't wait to go back again.
