Honey Beer
Going to Daunt Books over the Years. Always Fancied going in. Bags were Taken to a Coat Room. Lovely Assistant. Had Still Water. Wonderful layed Moussaka. Liked the Crisps Touch. Finished with Tiramisu Profiterole. Also Good. Washed Down with Greek Honey Beer. Impressive. Impeccable Service.
Be the first to ReplyGo for the lamb, feta and service.
We went for a very late lunch, 10 minutes before the kitchen closed. Staff were great and quickly brought us menus, helping us choose some items. We got 2 dips, feta in honey, a moussaka, the roasted cauliflower and chicken and lamb sharing plates. The dips were lovely and served with some pita bread. The feta was super. The moussaka was pretty good but the smokey flavour was verging on the side of burnt and was the least favourite of the bunch. The roasted cauliflower was very interesting with a nice crust on the top. The chicken and lamb sharing dishes were divine. Absolutely the best slow cooked lamb I have ever tasted, served on a bed of creamy pearl couscous and truffle mushrooms. The chicken was also delicious, served on a bed of orzo. We were too stuffed to have dessert but they looked good too. The staff are really attentive and kind. The only reason why I won't give this place a 5 star rating is because of the wine list. It was really quite expensive with the cheapest bottle at about 55/60 pounds. Meal for 5 people with 1 bottle of wine and no dessert came to ยฃ61 a head inc service charge. Would definitely return for the food and service but would love to see a more varied range of wines.
Be the first to ReplyA Very Disappointing Experience: Extremely Poor Price-Quality Ratio
Our dinner at Opso was a significant disappointment, primarily due to its poor price-quality ratio. Despite being a Michelin Star restaurant, Opso felt more akin to a casual burger joint than a fine-dining establishment. The service was notably rushed and lacked the finesse one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. In a particularly odd instance, our partially consumed water bottles were prematurely replaced with new ones, which was very absurd. The portion sizes were disappointingly small and, in terms of taste, merely average. I would specifically advise against choosing the chicken, as it was not tasty at all. The only good item was the lamb, which was flavorful. Based on this experience, I do not recommend Opso at all.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive and noisy
The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated and the menu itself has a wide range of options to choose from. I ordered the Dakos, flatbread and tzatziki which were all very good and made with high quality ingredients but the portions were really small and with the dakos costing ยฃ18 it definitely wasnโt ยฃ18 worth of food as there were a few tomatoes, a bit of bread and capers and a chunk of feta which was high quality but not worth the price. For the main I had a chicken dish with orzo and got the potatoes, broccoli and rice as a side. The chicken dish cost ยฃ38 and Iโm not really sure that it was worth the money as it was okay but not spectacular. The reviews all say the desserts are good, the one I had was good but nothing very spectacular. The tables were really close together and there was really loud music playing which meant that the waitress could not hear what we were saying and the person I was with and I had to shout to one another to be able to hear one another. If the music was quieter and the food was a bit cheaper I would go again, but itโs not justifiable with the prices as they are.
Be the first to ReplyRidiculously expensive and noisy
Ridiculously overpriced even for Marylebone. We paid 60ยฃ a person. Food is not Greek but something of fusion. Good ingredients and well prepared but just not justified pricing. Same for the wines. 15ยฃ for a basic glass of red wine is criminal. Restaurant tries to be somewhat of a Sexy Fish and Chiltern Firehouse and appeal to affluent 30-something. However itโs very small and cramped resulting in serious noise. Also due to cramping the neighbours food, truffles, and perfume just destroys and motion of the flavour of your own food.
Be the first to ReplyFood is Fine, Seated without Reservations for Lunch
Stumbled upon restaurant while tracking down 17 Wimpole Mews (Profumo scandal of 1963). Seated without reservations. Waitress was attentive, but long delay between ordering and arrival of food. I had the Giouvarlakia Dumplings and friend had Mousakas. Tasty without overpowering spice. Prices appropriate for London. If in area in future visits to London, will visit again.
Be the first to ReplyRude staff, basic food and certainly under cooked
We booked a table for 17:30 on a Sunday, and at no point were told that our table would be needed by a certain time. I was looking forward to a long and lovely conversation with my friends who I had not seen in 3 years and they had just travelled back from UAE for the weekend. However, we were rudely rushed along and repeatedly told our table is needed once we had consumed (what could only be described as basic and under cooked food). Please note the restaurant was not even half full, they could have offered a different table if they absolutely had to move us along. I was intending on letting the matter go, however, when OPSO felt they had done such a good job they emailed me for a review, I realised how angry I was with their pathetic and rude service. We ordered the Rib Eye Stake which we were told would me medium rare, it was rare. No one asked if our food was satisfactory and we all felt rather sick after a few bites. which is why we ordered mint tea to try and calm our stomachs. I would suggest retraining the staff. I can only assume the staff had not bothered communicating with the chef.
Be the first to ReplyGood experience
Very nice ambience. Food was alright, I was probably expected more. Service good. A bit overpriced with what they offer. I might give them another chance
Be the first to ReplyMisleading working hours, unprofessional behavior
It says on every website that this is a restaurant working until 11 pm. We walked under the rain and reached there at 3:30 pm just to know that their doors are open but the kitchen is closed from 3:30pm to 5:00pm as a break. Very unprofessional, very amateur and disappointing.
Be the first to ReplySpectacular cooking!!!!!
This was my second time at this place and wow!!!! I was there years ago and the food was just amazing. Went recently for my surprise I got even more impressed. Cannot stop thinking about that delicious lamb shank with truffle and their taramas is just divine. Cannot wait to return ๐
Be the first to ReplyFood over salted
Our table was wobbly and we had to ask the restaurant to fix it. The food was very salty and I was parched all night afterwards.
Be the first to ReplyAWFUL, OVERPRICED, EMPTY ON A SATURDAY
26 quid for ONE aubergine with crisps on top???? This restaurant was, unsurprisingly, half empty on a Saturday night. Whilst paying an enormous amount of money for delicious food is, of course, acceptable, paying an enormous amount of food for below-parr tiny portions is terrible. Read the Jay Rayner review from 2014 and it tells you all you need to know!
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best modern Greek restaurants in town
A warm and nice modern Greek restaurant that offers different Greek dishes with a modern twist. Itโs better to get a selection of different dishes (chateauxbriand, Dover sole and lobster with orzo, along with some starters (Tarama, tzatziki, cherry tomato salad and Greek salad). The basement is mainly seated dinner, while the upper floor is a mix of a nice bar and small seating areas. Donโt miss it if youโre in town
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service
The food was outstanding - hard to pick a fave but the Crudo with smoked aubergine broth & double strained Greek yoghurt was wonderful. Waiters are very knowledgeable and provided a great service.
Be the first to ReplyImpeccable Food and Service 10/10 ! 25th Birthday Brunch
I picked this restaurant blindly on a google search and after seeing their instagram I was convinced it was a good place to go for . I was wrong , this place was out of this world brilliant . The food was delicious, the entire table of 6 agreed . The service was out of this world , the hosts and table service is genuinely and truly the best Iโve experienced so far in Marylebone. They surprised me with the desert and a candle and โHappy Birthdayโ presentation. I was so surprised and genuinely felt welcomed and appreciated. What a wonderful restaurant , atmosphere and excellent service . Will make this a regular place to visit !
Be the first to ReplyAn amazing place
The food is gorgeous, the atmosphere is very nice, the service is brilliant, especially if Nikos is on shift. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyCompletely overpriced
Food is ok, but completely overpriced. Used to be much cheaper. Came out with a bitter taste. Much better alternatives in the area
Be the first to ReplyDelicious but Extortionate
With relatives in Greece I am very familiar with the cuisine, and felt the food here was both authentic and utterly delicious. However, be warned: it is - even for a high-end London neighbourhood - extremely over-priced. We hadn't checked the menu before our visit so it was a bit of an eye-opener when we sat down to order, but we decided to treat it as a rare treat. The 'deconstructed' moussaka was fabulous, although not sure it's a dish that's been desperate for a makeover. The lamb shank with truffle was also wonderful, but at ยฃ48 you'd expect it to be so. The service was lovely, if a little too fussy (I don't like my wine being topped-up for me).
Be the first to ReplyGreat food
Came for dinner on a Friday night, they were able to seat us a little early (much appreciated). The lamb and moussaka were unreal, highly recommend. Also got the tzatziki and pita. The pita didnโt come with many pieces (we had 2/3 of the dip left when the bread was gone) but those dishes were very good too.
Be the first to ReplyDelicous food
The place is simple and nice. Food is delicious, service is good but prices quite high. We will visit it again, once a month.
Be the first to ReplyFar from good
Arroganceโฆaverage food not bad but ok Zero ambiance and knowledge Not sure how those prices justify the bill
Be the first to ReplyGood but not great
Ours was a group of 8 and we had a fabulous time. The food was OK, but nothing to write home about and the prices were high, especially the wine. Still the tappas were tasty, the lamb shank especially delicious (STG 48.00) and other dishes pretty good. But not the fun family-owned Greek restaurant experience one might enjoy or expect.
Be the first to ReplyGreat find by the wife! Getting us in the holiday spirit
One of the best restaurants Iโve been to. Every dish was just delicious. Really like that set up for tapas type dishes and sharing mains. Went for Tamarac, Giouvarkakia dumplings, oregano chicken, pitta & Lamb shank and was plenty for 2. Will have to go back to sample more. Cocktails were awesome too!
Be the first to ReplyIncredibly Tasty Greek Food with Great Atmosphere
This was our second visit to OPSO and we will keep coming back. Yes, it's not cheap - BUT the food is incredible. The tzatziki is the best I have ever had (the garlic and dill powder and creaminess!). The pita is perfect. The chicken was so tender and well seasoned (and who knew gem lettuce could pack so much taste!). The baked feta with sesame seeds - OMG. And the signature lamb is maybe one of the best things I have eaten. As a bonus the cocktails are great, the wine list is more than adequate and the service is so attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be back again...and again.
Be the first to ReplyGood food and service but not excellent. Poor value.
Some friends had raved about this place but we were disappointed. Some bread and tsadsiki, two mains, two beers, ยฃ105. Nice but nothing spectacular and poor value. Cross the street to the cheaper Greek or the two very good Indian places. All three are better value.
