Oliver's Osteria Laguna Beach Reviews from The Last Year

The food was delicious, I loved the cozy feel of the restaurant. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, I will definitely be eating here again.
Hidden jewel away from the hustle and bustle of downtown
Hidden jewel away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Laguna Beach. Unexpectedly outstanding dining experience. We came here after a hike on a Sunday for lunch. Outdoor patio was dog friendly :) Our server Joseph was perfect, kind and accomodating but not too intrusive. Gave us the right amount of time and space. The food was also perfect. Our Fritto Misto appetizer had just the right amount of batter and was not too salty, not too garlic-ky. My wife's halibut was also perfectly cooked, flaky but also flavorful. The asparagus was perfectly crunchy and not overseasoned or too oily. The potatoes just tasted amazing for some unknown reason. My Tagliolini al limone was perfectly cooked al dente and just the right blend between creamy and lemon taste. For dessert, the Tiramisu didnt look all that appealing visually. But man, once you have a spoon, it also shined, perfectly chilled temperature, not too sweet, just perfect. Definitely tasted better than it looked. We'll definitely be coming back...often.

Delicious!! The Focaccia was so good and the calamari is a must!! Our favorite was the seafood pasta as well as one of the creamy red pastas!
Do not order delivery from them.
They sent us disgusting pasta water that they called Cacio e Pepe and the pasta itself tasted like it was Barilla. Very disappointed.

Best Italian food in Southern California, we go here every chance we get. Five stars all around, I've had everything in the menu
Let's start with the good.
The server was excellent. Charming and thoughtful. The food was pretty good. The bread and Italian tomato crudo starter was delicious. Calamari dish was tasty: crispy, well-fried, not too greasy, flavorful breading and dip. The Caprese could have been very good. Unfortunately, half the tomatoes were green tomatoes. Very crunchy and not my idea of Caprese (fried green tomatoes are one thing, fresh are kinda weird). The pesto sauce on it was tasty. The big chunks of tomato made it hard to eat, I prefer slices. The burrata was delicious but comes in a big ball, also making it a bit hard to eat. Now, here comes the not so great. The greeter did not really greet, no smile, just waited for us to say something. The guy getting our water ignored my request for regular water and when he arrived with only sparkling, I again asked for regular and he seemed annoyed. The guy getting water also didn't know the soup of the day. No big deal, but some room for improvement. The bad: the restaurant was VERY loud. Loud music playing from the bar next door caused everyone to have to yell. Most people seemed quite wine-drunk and were more than happy to shout. A great place if you have kids or if you're going with a large group of people who have a tendency for rowdiness. Having a nice dinner for two? Not so much. Also, there is no indoor option, it's just an outdoor tent, so if you're not close to a heater, it can get a bit cold at night. Most importantly, our entrees took an hour and a half to arrive. When they finally did arrive, my Pork Tomahawk was totally raw in the middle. The server had no problem taking it back. We ended up sharing the chicken and porcini dish which was tasty. The saving grace of this dinner was that the server took both of the entrees off of the bill and gave us a free dessert. He also only charged me for one Coke when I got two refills. Very professional response to a pretty disappointing performance. If not for this gesture, would have been a one or two star dinner. I would try Oliver's again, but probably not on a Sunday night.
Been here 8 times as I live in town.
Serves are always awesome and have a great vibe. They increased prices a lot recently and changed the menu. Had a reservation(had people visiting from out of town) and we got the COVID tent set up outside. For the price, lack of ambience and it being a tent literally from COVID 3 years ago, I was actually disappointed for once. Keep in mind, this is the best Italian IN TOWN, not the greater area. Used to be worth it, but for the price of $30-$40 just for pasta(not including the specials) just to be in a COVID tent is kinda funny. Most confusing thing to me is that pricing is not far off from Carbone
The Ambiance was really nice.
I love the light and bright decor yet very cozy. We were in a booth. The food was good. I ordered fish to be different. I usually get some sort of pasta. The service was a bit strange. We wanted to relax and have a nice meal, catch up with friends but felt very rushed. Our waiter was nice but had a sarcastic sense of humor. He got everything done for us but had a cadence that seemed so hectic. All in all I felt that it was a nice meal, nothing special but had the potential to be a really nice experience. Didn't feel that tonight taking everything into consideration. Would we go back again? We would want to but not so sure.
Hands down - best Italian, having been time and time again.
.. no matter whichever Italian restaurants we try, we always get disappointed and say to each other in the family if we want Italian, Oliver's Osteria in Laguna Beach is the only one to go and spend our limited calorie quota. Lol. We've really given our utmost effort to try and like the Irvine branch but it really let us down so we just return to this Laguna Beach location and really, never disappoint. Such good, wholehearted service pair with second to none scrumptious food and drinks. We feel the food is even better quality here than in Irvine. We had a couple of specials, speck with cheese and mushroom/truffle sauce for starter and also the veal chop. On top of the specials, we always order the fritto misto.. such fresh seafood fried perfectly and I love the capers in the tomato sauce ! And we always love the seasonal hand made pasta with Italian sausage and creamy mushroom/truffle sauce. Our favourite pasta dish there - nice chewy pasta and perfectly cooked sauce. We were two people and inhaled everything plus some wine but end up not able to eat dessert! Instead, our server made us our requested custom made 'sgroppino'. Our favourite 'dessert' which is a whipped lemon drink. If you dine there, you should try and ask for this drink after your meal - it is THE BEST way to end your meal.

Is this an appointment for a leather appointment at the Hermes Store? And if so, how do they switch the appointment to my name?
