Love the dollar oysters! Friday night we also had the roasted Brussels sprouts pizza and smoked pork ribs. It was a delightful & tasty happy hour. We also had the pleasure to share the bar with a few visiting New Yorkers, Mike & Steve!! They were hysterical!

Absolutely come here if you're looking for a great meal in Napa. We came here for our anniversary and the meal was the best we had on our trip. We arrived early and sat right away. The server greeted us within a minute of sitting down. She made great menu recommendations. They are currently serving a fall inspired menu and it was one of the best seasonal menus we have had. You must order the Brussel sprout pizza. It was so flavorful and the sourdough crust was perfect. The pizza is wood-fired and a can't miss. I would highly recommend the trout as well. It was a huge portion and full of complexity and flavor. For dessert we had the pumpkin cheesecake and Hoch was delicious. More pumpkin pie like in flavor. We were celebrating our anniversary and there was no acknowledgement of that. For as nice of place as it was, I was surprised there was no champagne toast or dessert to celebrate. I would recommend they incorporate that into future reservations. It's a small touch that makes a guest feel special.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service, great food, delicious drinks.
Came here with a friend for their pizza after we were basically ignored by the restaurant next door r+d kitchen. The waitress was so kind and made recommendations. She checked on us a good amount and our water cups always got refilled without having to ask. When the check came she even got us the hh discount for the appetizer since she felt bad she forgot to mention it. Her service was excellent every step of the way so we gave her a nice tip. I would definitely be back. All the staff was wonderful from the host to waitress to I think the manager who may have greeted us
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food, fantastic service, and an incredible night.
We came here for our wedding anniversary dinner and loved our experience. The bread was delicious and the ambiance of the interior was perfect for a cold winter night. The bread was absolutely delicious, and the highlight of our night were the anchovies in local olive oil.

My friends did a small bridal brunch for me here and the location is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately I did wait awhile to finish my review given it was a busy month for me. However, I wanted to circle back and make sure to say absolutely enjoyed my small event here. The food, the service was absolutely wonderful. I can't wait to go back.
Be the first to ReplyAnother extraordinary night a the Restaurant at North Block.
Under the direction of Executive Chef Nicole Heaney the Restaurant continues to produce great food sourced from local sources. The pizzas are divine and range from roasted sweet spring onions to homemade duck sausage. The Liberty Farms dry-aged duck was the best duck I have eaten and features a beautifully rendered skin that is crisp on the outside and melting next to the flesh. The desserts are always creative and delicious currently featuring a chocolate gelato that was silky smooth and delicious or a seasonal peach creamy sorbet. While the entrees are protein-heavy, don't shy away from letting the restaurant know you are vegetarian or vegan. Their team of creative chefs produces some delicious V entrees using the best local vegetables and grains.

I liked our waiter but I did not appreciate being sandwiched between two tables despite there being plenty of available seating and it being a slow night (therestaurant wasn't even half full). Drinks were fantastic. Food was severely underwhelming. The famed pork ribs and pizzas were both nothing special, and as others mentioned there was a 4% surcharge.

The Restaurant at North Block has some shady business practices. Food was good, service was good, but when I got home I noticed there was a 4% surcharge on my bill. I called the restaurant, but had to leave a message because they were closed for the evening. Several days later, I still haven't received a call back. The folks at the hotel did not know why there was a surcharge instituted at the restaurant. Nowhere on my reservation, nor on the menu, was there anything about a surcharge. Tax is already nearly 10%, so another 4% on top of that and we are approaching 15%. Add in the standard 20% gratuity and you are looking at almost a 40% cost over what the prices on the menu show. Having a surcharge without notifying the customer (and not returning a phone call to inquire why) is a very shady business practice. DO NOT EAT AT NORTH BLOCK.

All in all, this has a huge indoor dining space and is located in the heart of downtown yountville. We came here for lunch as a party of 4 on a Saturday and while we did a reservation for a table , it looked like there were ample tables available. In terms of food, I'd recommend the "red pie pizza" and corn fritters. We also tried the asparagus pizza but found it to be a tad bland and hence wouldn't recommend it. Also, if you're a vegetarian, it's worth they are more than happy to prepare all pizzas as vegetarian. They have a huge parking area for the restaurant which is different from the one for the hotel.

Everything went beautifully for the first 90 minutes of our meal: anchovies & halibut & ribs were all amazing... But then the duck came out medium-well rather than medium-rare, and then the duck came out medium rather than medium-rare, and then they brought me the wrong drink, and rather than being apologetic they were argumentative... Que sera, sera...

Be the first to ReplyI want to start off by saying my wife and I are "foodies"
I want to start off by saying my wife and I are "foodies" and oenophiles, and we have fine dined most of our lives all over the world. We love Yountville and nearly every restaurant in this town. We dined at Northblock because it was the only restaurant we hadn't tried in town and were anxious to complete our tasting journey.Overall, the food was very good, not great; not Michelin star by any means. We had the Yellowfin Tuna Toast and the Halibut; both were very tasty, toast was a little too thick for my taste. Halibut was cooked perfectly and the maitake mushrooms were a nice accent; however, it was missing a side of some kind; e.g., a little dollop of risotto, or puree of creamy potato, or some broccolini; The odd thing regarding the menu was there are no sides to order, and the "large plates" do not really come with any sides. I get ala carte, but that wasn't an option.Regarding the wood fired sourdough pizzas (ordered previously for take away); I agree with other reviews that basically sum up to: very tasty, but "soggy" in the middle, and toppings only cover about 60% of the crust in the center. The menu on the website is more extensive then what you see when you arrive; items missing (that we really wanted): the beet salad, the trout, and the ricotta gnudi. When we ordered, we were told that we had to order all courses at the same time. We don't like to dine this way... we start slowly with an appetizer (maybe two), salad, and entrรฉe and share each item. Many times we aren't sure what we want for a next course until we have had the previous one, or maybe we stop and skip the main course. This was a huge turn-off for us. When we protested this policy, we got pushback that is was basically a polite "this is a non-negotiable" option. Our server was very new and seemingly untrained; she was nice enough and polite, but just lacking an overall "engaging service mentality".The ambiance is a bit stark, and patio area in front even more stark and uninviting. The other odd thing is you can always get into this place; which is highly unusual for any restaurant in Yountville where prime-time dining slots get booked up at least 2-3 days in advance during the week and 5-7 days in advance on weekends. When you search for restaurants in Yountville, this place doesn't even show up. To sum up: Food very tasty, service clumsy, ambiance lacking, menu incomplete, management weak. For all the fantastic restaurants in Yountville, Northblock is at the bottom in our opinion.

Made a reservation for a celebratory dinner and had great service and pizza! We ordered the olives for an appetizer and they were delicious. We had two cocktails that were very tasty but can't remember the names. For entrees we had a margarita pizza and spring onion pizza - both really good but a lot of moisture pooled on top making them a little soggy in the middle. Lastly we had the burnt cheesecake - good but not exactly our preference. Overall would come back!
Be the first to ReplyI really regret eating here.
Had an awful experience dining here over the weekend. Awfully understaffed. Took me 20 minutes to get seated even though I had a reservation. The last pork chop dish took almost 2 HOURS to arrive after I ordered it. The main dishes were dreadful too. Still tipped but I hate this place so much. I get better service (and food) at my local Denny's.Duck Sausage Pizza: The center of the pizza is so soggy. When you pick up every single slice, all the cheese and sauce immediately slides off in a sad oily goop. Also over 50% of the pizza is tasteless crust. Dry Aged Pork Chop: Why the hell would you order an entree that's 100% meat? It was mostly overpowering fat and the meat is tough and gets stuck in your teeth.Yellowfin Tuna Toast: Too salty but remotely good?Bread and butter: bread looked freshly baked but was bland. Shame because they have a legit looking wood oven in the kitchen.Grilled Swiss Chard: Creative because it's like a vegetable sushi roll, but it's not easy to eat and it had weird pockets of under salted and overly salted areas.

My favorite where the drinks so delicious the food was good too but I just say I'm a more comfort street food kinda girl so that goes into factor too for tastebuds wise but if I could describe the taste palette I felt with the food I tried in one word it would be "fresh".
Be the first to ReplyWe had a reservation down the street at Bottega.
ย After poor (non existent) service we left and tried North Block. Great service from our waitress Dia and wonderful food! One of the best pizzas I've ever had. ย This is a great restaurant and I recommend it highly.

My partner and I had a nice dinner here---food was delicious, but the restaurant had run out of many of the items on their menu. The reservation was a bit difficult to get, so I was quite disappointed that we weren't informed about the unavailable items on the menu that we were looking forward to trying. That said, the desserts we had were very unique and delicious (cheesy + bready + sweet ice cream and cheesecake), and our entrees (the truffle white pizza and the rock fish) were great.

Good food, but very long wait for service and entrees (30+ min each) ... at the very minimum, a comp of an item would have been reasonable, but nothing was offered other than "sorry, kitchen was backed up". Probably ok for Napa Valley, but below our expectations.

A couple months ago we had a somewhat bad experience with the hosting team at the restaurant and posted a negative review. The management reached out to us and profusely apologized and invited us back. My wife, daughter and I came back tonight and had a great experience. Wait staff was top notch. Food was delicious (duck sausage pizza, chicken, and pork ribs). Varied wine list with a broad price range and a lot of great local Napa options. Thank you North Block for a great meal. We'll be back!

We were fortunate to snag a reso here the day of! They are dog friendly and have heaters outside on their outdoor dining area! It's pretty spaced out and nice. Bathroom is at the hotel next door, a short walk away. We got the squash fritters, chard, duck sausage pizza and these little homemade cookies they gave with the check. They were out of couple things we wanted so we kept it light tonight. Squash fritters are a must try! With the mousse with roe combo is quite delicious! We really enjoyed dipping it in and the roe was a great touch. The chard was not my favourite but it was kind of cool how it came out looking like a sushi roll! The duck sausage pizza is a must try for the pizza or duck or sausage lovers! It looked oily and greasy as the thin crust buckled under the weight of the topping but it was delicious, savoury with no hint of oily or greasiness we saw. And the mini cookie/ treats made in house with the check. I was told it was miso, sesame and date combo. Wow. I wish they would make some I could buy to take home!!! Please start making them in bulks so I can grab a bag next time we're back! Or if someone knows the recipe message me please! According to my partner they smelled of thyme but I had to inform him he just went to the bathroom and used the soap that smelled like thyme Things do leave the menu here and there seasonally but I hope y'all get a chance to try them before they're gone!

This place was phenomenal!!!! It's been two days since we ate here and my mouth is still watering thinking about the food. We came for dinner. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating isn't quite covered so if it's raining, or sprinkling, be aware of that fact. The restaurant is part of a hotel and they have their own lot so parking is pretty easy to come by.We sat outside and the heaters kept us plenty warm. When you visit here plan for plenty of time for your meal. The food doesn't come out quickly, which was fine for us because we got to enjoy a leisurely night. The restaurant is known for their sourdough bread so you can always put an order of that in to tie you over until your courses arrive. For appetizer we went with the raw scallop dish. This dish was so refreshing. The scallop was chilled, but not cold. That along with the flavors of the yuzu and pear were amazing. Flavors and textures were really well balanced with this dish. I was liken it to ceviche, but without the salsa/pico de gallo. For main dishes we had the duck and the halibut. I'm not always a fan of duck. I find it too gamey at some restaurants, but this place nailed it!! The duck was juicy, the skin was crispy, and the sauce was divine! The sauce had some Indian flavor in it that really stood out. Such a good accompaniment to the dish. The halibut was outstanding too. The dish kept its heat, which is sometimes hard to do with fish. It had a similar sauce to the raw scallop, but the dish was very comforting. Since sourdough was all over the menu we tried the sourdough ice cream for dessert. This was a true definition of sweet and salty. It was good, but we could only manage a couple of bites. Everything was a good portion and we definitely left satisfied. I highly recommend this place and will add it to our rotation of wine country restaurants.

We first tried the North Block restaurant early last year- following Chef Nick Tamburo (ex-Momofuku). Not only was the food- outstanding in its creativity, presentation and flavor, but also the decor, wait staff and ambiance made it exceptional! Of all the items we ordered the roast chicken stuffed with matsuri rice- hit it out of the park for us! House recommended cocktails and desserts rounded out the meal and we couldn't wait to be back! So glad that our experience has been consistent over our recent visits! Don't miss this gem if you're in Napa/ Yountville..
