After years of not coming to Nobu in a while, I wanted to
After years of not coming to Nobu in a while, I wanted to surprise my partner with dinner here on valentines day. I did have to book this reservation weeks in advance but I was excited to share this experience. For this location in West Hollywood I would expect to pay for valet parking in front of the restaurant or come in early to circle around the busy streets for street parking. If you are waiting to be seated or for a reservation they do have a bar area where you can snag a couple drinks before dinner. The service was phenomenal and our server was upbeat, insightful and kind throughout our whole dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant is what you expect from any upscale restaurant, with modern looks and dim lighting. The food and flavors from the various dishes is what makes nobu so popular. My favorites and must orders are the yellowtail jalapeno, blackened miso cod, and some Nigiri/sashimi but make sure to ask them for toppings! They topped our king salmon with this truffle oil that elevated it to the next level. Other things that are solid are the tacos which we got the wagyu ones and tuna ones. Just note these tacos are bite size but packed with flavor. They also had some great custom cocktails that are worth a try. Overall I spent like $250 (before tip) on a dinner for two which was delicious but quite frankly we were still hungry but had tried all the items we had wanted to. Nobu is definitely worth a try and a great dining experience just know that it wont come cheap.

Food was very good but waiter said that 90% of his customers let him order for the table... We agreed and the bill came to over $1000 and he brought out way to much food... He upselled us terribly... Will never go back to NOBU LA again with this type of tactic... Ripped us off!

My husband took me to celebrate my 41st bday and it was delicious. This was our first time and we weren't disappointed. I did my research and ordered things I saw as highly recommended. I loved the black cod miso and my husband loved the wagyu and the lobster tocos the best. Honestly everything was so good. Our waiter was Jacob and he was super nice and attentive which was great for a very busy Friday night. He answered our questions and had great's recommendations in how many plates to order and also drinks that matched our taste. The valet in front was $40 on a Friday night but we easily found parking across the street.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic experience, if you know what to order.
I'm going to start off with things that I would skip next time: the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, the Yellowtail Jalapeno, Toro Tartar with Caviar, Shishito Peppers. The Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice is definitely not worth the price, the Toro Tartar was good but also not worth the price, the Yellowtail Jalapeno is a little too basic, and the Shishito Peppers were good too but nothing special. Things that I think are worth trying but probably wouldn't order again: Miso-Marinated Black Cod. Tasted good, but was not my favorite and was not extremely special to me. It was exactly as I expected. Things that I will definitely come back for: Albacore Sashimi with Truffle and Baby Artichoke, Yellowtail Carpaccio, Snapper Dry Miso, Salmon New Style, Salmon Yuzu Karashi Su Miso. Most of these seem to be chef specials and were brought out based on our server's recommendations, but I do see that other customers have also ordered these before. I loved all of the different kinds of sashimi and carpaccio that we tried. I think that all of these are worth a try because they tasted exceptional compared to the other dishes I listed in the beginning. Service was one of the best, of course. Lovely ambiance in their covered outdoor area. Nobu is definitely worth a visit if you follow your server's recommendations. I know they have some popular dishes, but some of them are overhyped, and you're better off sticking with their nigiri or sashimi.

Be the first to ReplyThe service was impeccable.
Pea, DC, and Adrianne really made us feel settled and came by at a pace that allowed us to enjoy a dinner experience while not feeling neglected or overwhelmed. The staff were excellent!!!

Dinner reservations Sat 7:30p Valet parking High quality fish and steak. Would order the off menu salmon with mustard sauce again and the yuzu truffle butter steak. Would skip the spicy mayo shrimp and wagyu tacos (too small). Bread pudding was surprisingly fantastic! Don't skip dessert.

Be the first to ReplyCame here for my birthday a few months ago.
We found street parking nearby. No need for valet. The food was good. The only item that was not good was the miso soup. Basic, easy, miso soup. It was bland. We tried the tempura, ribeye with crispy onion, 2 sushi rolls, dessert was a warm-delicious treat topped with ice cream. BANANA CARAMEL SOY TOBAN YAKI. (Order it). We tried 2 of their drinks. Which were delicious!! One was named after Nobu. So good!! It had a kiwi at the bottom. It was a little over $500 for two
Be the first to ReplyIt was just ok.
Food was ( Extremely over priced) Taste was good, but not a WOW factor. Too Dark, too crowded, too noisy. An over all good time, but I would not return for the food. I would just for the Ambience

creamy spicy crab, A5 wagyu, assortments of mushrooms, more creamy seafood, ribeye, nigiri, and more. walking out the door with a certain sense of confidence and carefree, as if I was a frequent, I approached the aventador svr in valet (not mine). my stomach of no bound grew, along with my appetite. I survey the peasants across. its keeps growing. we summon the X7 (rented) to conclude, yet I understood it has only begun.

Nobu is a high-end sushi restaurant that offers an incredible dining experience. The restaurant is situated in a beautiful location overlooking the ocean, and the ambiance is sophisticated and elegant. The sushi is expertly prepared, with fresh and high-quality ingredients. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. I absolutely love this spot! 5/5 Also- order the miso eggplant and mochi. They're my faves.
Be the first to ReplyHello! I've never been here until tonight.
I'm vegan, I had a lovely server named Art(: he knew everything about the menu, answered ever question easy peasy super informative about everything. I appreciate how much attention he put into my questions. Thank you Art!!! I love art! And Nobu!
Be the first to ReplyFood was all amazing and everything had me wanting more.
Our server was also very friendly and the inside and dining room was nice as well. The only thing I'd have to say is that the food took a little long to come out and this is especially true with the jidori chicken. Besides that everything was spot on including the drinks.
Be the first to ReplyHad a great afternoon at Nobu.
The food was overall very delicious with the highlights being the passionfruit lychee non alcoholic drink and the chocolate bento box desert - both were truly spectacular. Lots of choices on the menu - as a pescaterean I had many options! The fish dishes were very generous portions and came piping hot. Neither were particularly memorable but both were solid and flavorful. While it's definitely a fun scene and a vibe which is of course why one treks out there in the first place, the staff seemed harried and not totally in control which gave it a hectic feeling as opposed to a more chill and calm experience which was more what I was expecting. It was sensory overload. The loud music also overpowered the sound of the waves. I was surprised that the bar had a TV - this made it feel corporate and killed the vibe a bit though you don't need to spend any time in that area if you have a reservation. Two of our dishes didn't show up but it was all good - I'm sure we could have gotten them if we had pushed for it but they were appetizers and we already had our main dishes. All in all, it was a unique experience and I'm glad I went - the dessert alone is reason enough to go back!!

If this is the kind of place that you're into you should come at least once. The food at Nobu is pretty good, I enjoy the tacos and the yellow fin jalapeรฑo dish. The time I went the service was OK but some of my friends have had not so pleasant experiences here.

Horrible experience when youre paying this much for a dinner. From out of town and was celebrating a friends birthday with a party of 15. Had empty drinks all night. Food took way too long and was horrible. Server barely checked on us. And after all that we left hungry. Deserts are the only reason this is getting two stars.
Be the first to Replyi read a review that said they wouldn't go back but they'd
i read a review that said they wouldn't go back but they'd recommend to give it a try and i completely agree. i went yesterday for my birthday dinner and while the experience wasn't horrible, i wish i'd pick somewhere else to eat.if you're coming at night, your best bet is to look for barton g's light and follow accordingly. nobu had almost no light outside and's cramped on the street. it seemed relatively small. valet is right in front which is convenient, but given the small space nobu is on, cars get cramped quickly and blocks traffic.the interior is nice. it looks put together and inviting, but not too uncomfortable to where you feel like you have no business being there.the food was alright. we had yellowtail and snow crab rolls to start which were very good-- i'm familiar with sushi rolls but it was my first time having nigiri & sashimi and it won't be my last-- they really set the standard! it was nice & flavorful, and while i don't mind thick fish it was nicely sliced. my personal appetizer was the sashimi tuna salad and that was amazing! honestly i should've ordered it for my entree, but i was assuming the actual entree would be better. i'll touch on that in a second. i also had the lychee & elderberry martini and it was so good. i'm not a cocktail drinker (more of a straight shot & beverage girl) but the presentation of the martini was cute and you couldn't really taste the alcohol which is why i liked it. i tried a couple of my party's cocktails too and they were equally as good.so... the entree. 3 of us had ordered the shrimp & lobster plate-- which i thought would have been just as the name described; a shrimp and lobster plate-- and we were told they were out of it after waiting a while for our food to come out, and we had to order something else off of the menu. after placing new orders, a server comes out with 1 shrimp and lobster plate and everyone was confused because we were told they didn't have it. it was no issue, i ended up taking it and cancelling my new order. when i got the plate, it was actually a salad situation with about 3 shrimps and a small lobster body that had little to no meat inside. i was really disappointed but i didn't want to complain, it was the last one for the night and i didn't want to make it a big deal. the shrimp was good but that was about it. the lobster was extremely lackluster in flavor, and the "lettuce" was about 2 big leaves tucked under a bunch of spinach. it looked and tasted like a catch-all salad; but not a good kind. it was an instant regret, and i wished i just ordered another sashimi salad. salad is not what i wanted for an entree, i already had one for the appetizer and the rest of the menu did not appeal to me (i eat sushi regularly and i wanted to try something different since it was my first time here). the meal is not worth the price, no matter the ingredients.dessert made up for the entree-- and i don't even eat dessert. i got a nice scoop of ice cream for a birthday treat, and the banana toban yaki to go with it. the toban yaki was very sweet and flavorful and the ice cream was a nice cold contrast. would i go back? probably not. as a takeout order i'd definitely get the yellowtail and the sashimi salad, but i wouldn't be too thrilled about the dining experience again. but it's also a recommendation for a restaurant if you're in the area.
Be the first to ReplyNobu keeps having my review taken down!!!I went to Nobu
Nobu keeps having my review taken down!!!I went to Nobu last week for my birthday and had a horrible service experience. If you are looking for a high class experience with good service, do not go here! First, our waitress kept hounding us to order and as soon as we sat down started trying to get us to order. We hadn't even been given food menus yet! We told her we weren't ready yet and asked for menus and a few minutes, and even though we still hadn't received menus she briskly insisted, "well how about some edamame to start then?" At this point, we decided to just get the edamame to placate her and ordered some drinks. Seconds later, edamame was on the table and no drinks. We looked at the menu and proceeded to order a few courses. We finished the edamame and still no drinks had arrived so I inquired. The next course came and we finished that too and no drinks. The third course came and still no drinks. We finished our third course and finally the drinks came. The food was all coming out at lightening speed so there was absolutely no way it was fresh and not pre prepared. When I am paying this much money for food, I expect it to be freshly prepared to order and not sitting out or previously prepared. I also was very disappointed with the birthday experience. After making a reservation, the restaurant called him to go over details and even asked how to spell my name so they could do special birthday surprises and they told him that a special dessert would be done, we would be seated in a special area, etc. We got to the restaurant and nobody even was aware we were there to celebrate a birthday. He finally had to pull the waitress aside and say that they hadn't done anything promised. She then blurted out loudly so I could hear, "Well we don't do free birthday stuff but you can pay for something and we will put happy birthday on it." When we finished our food, we were essentially ushered out since they kept coming up and asking us if we were wrapping up. The whole dinner felt extremely rushed and like they were trying to get us in and out as quickly as possible, which is not what you expect when you pay $400 for a dinner.

First time I went here it was Grammy's night 2018, I ran into drake as he was Exiting. I screamed "your talented!!" And He agreed. That night the street were quite. fast FOWARD to thanksgiving weekend 2022, I'm here to meet my friends for dinner. The street is so lit w all the hottest restaurants and it looks way more gentrified than before. Lit trees, valets everywhere, the catch joined the street just all sides were very active. I've met my friends at the bar we grab a drink, we were then seated fairly quickly. The ambience is very super hyper trendy. The Servers are sexy hot, very multi cultural good looking men and women. I loved my bottled coke, & glass of ice. once I ordered one I seen them pop up all around me. All the mix drinks were lush, delicious, trendy & hip. Almost Every time we saw something exit the bar we also added it, because it was so appealing. Now the food!!! You always see those places where the food looks minimal small portions. More artsy than portions. This is that trendy restaurant. But let me tell you everything is so amazing and delicious, from the drinks to the food. U leave surprisingly full. The vegetable sushi is very fresh and memorable. The steak is some of the best quality meat I ever tasted, to date. The cauliflower is also delicious. The miso soup was a bit underwhelming. I've had better. That's was everything I ate, that night. It was delicious, I crave it every now and then. This is definitely one of my favorite places in Los Angeles that is low key and close to all the studios. My friends also agreed that all their food was top tier. It's very expensive tho. The same night I ran into drake I go up the street and run into Nicki minaji ten minutes later. Her husband pushes the hell outta me and says "u bet not!!" These streets hold so many memories to me. I always drive by the nobu Malibu location for years. This is my nobu. Malibu is my city. My heart. but my soul belongs to the streets of Hollywood. Nobu weho, I stan.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food.
Great service. However is a bit pricy. I'd recommend getting a reservation. It gets busy on the weekends especially.

I came here last night for my birthday, and boy do I regret it. I typically like to go to mid-end places like Flemings for birthdays because it's more affordable for a big group and there are plenty of options to choose from. However, due to the pandemic, I chose to opt for nicer places since I'm only going out with friends on a one on one basis to be safer. That all said, I came here and I literally still feel upset that I gave them my money due to the poor experience I had.I booked through OpenTable and noted that the occasion was a birthday. I'm not too big on birthdays, but based on prior experience and having worked in restaurants all through college, I know that it's the host's job to address birthdays and occasions and to pass the info onto the server, because that kindness really elevates a guest's experience. However, upon walking in, the host and manager did not say anything to us.A previous review called out the male server with silver/gray hair and I'm pretty sure he was our server. Awful experience. He was awkward as though he wasn't comfortable dealing with people, or as if he assumed we were not going to tip him well. Whatever his problem is, he should deal with that before working in the service industry. Just new a whole new staff from top to bottom in the front of house, honestly.

Came here for birthday dinner and did not disappoint! We had the wagyu which is not pictured but was exquisite!! Not usually a raw seafood person either but the yellowtail sashimi was something!! The service was great and I even received some complementary gelato since it was my birthday. Will definitely try the Malibu location next.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointed.
We were really looking forward to eating at nobu on our vacation, but the service and ambiance were unrefined and food was just ok.
