No Relation Boston Reviews from The Last Year
I got this experience as a gift for my sushi obsessed
I got this experience as a gift for my sushi obsessed partner. And while I usually stick to California rolls No Relation changed that. The cuts of fish were so delicious, my favorite being the Hokkaido Scollop, the lightest, softest, and BEST scollop this New Englander has ever had. I was truly blown away by the attention to detail Chef Lynch put in each of the omakase dishes. Alexey the GM, and from what I saw wine, sake, and tea expert, makes you feel right at home. When I save up again I can't wait to send some friends for special occasions in their life! 10/10 would go again, once I can afford it
Oh nom nom nom indeed.
This was my first omakase experience in Boston and it did not disappoint. Hell, I don't even need to try O Ya. I'd want to come back to No Relation (which, btw, you access through the Shore Leave host stand - once it's reservation time, you'll be led to the back). It's a 9-person seating, 14 courses. While it may not seem like a lot of food, I left very satiated and happy. My favorites: - Wagyu. The most umami mouthful. It's super rich and decadent, one bite was more than satisfying for me. - Shima Ali with uni. I'm a sucker for anything uni and the uni here was amazing, sourced from Hokkaido. - Tuna tartare. Loved the uni rice and nori that came with. You also have the option of supplements like caviar, truffle, and ikura. - Toro. You cannot go wrong with fatty tuna. Lots of garnishes and toppings on the nigiri - think lemon zest, black truffle, ginger, scallion. Giant party in my mouth with every piece. The only one that didn't quite work was the akami zuke, which had a touch too much wasabi for me (basically went straight up my nose). Incredible service from Alexey and the two sushi chefs. For price, etc., check out their website, they have a detailed FAQ section that walks through everything ya need to know. PARKING: Metered parking spots available on Washington St and Traveler St. There's also the Whole Foods parking lot.
My husband and I went here for Valentine's Day and both
My husband and I went here for Valentine's Day and both cannot say enough about our meals. Everything is prepped in front of you and the staff are in the room with you telling you about everything you eat or drink. The room was intimate but never felt small, only 9 people per booking and only two bookings a night. All fish was fresh and the map on the all was labeled with where each of the fish were imported from. It was not cheap, but a great special occasion place. I have allergies to food and they took them very seriously. They also made accommodations for people who just didn't like certain things on the preset menu. Very tasty. Very fresh.
No relationship is still my favorite omakase sushi
No relationship is still my favorite omakase sushi restaurant. It's hidden behind an awesome bar. My recommendations is to book the reservation on OpenTable
I came here for my birthday.
They were so kind to do something special for me. I appreciated the way they priced their menu, all the add ons are available in person and you can choose your pricing based on this. They also had many tasting menu pairings. My group did the sake, sake premium, and NA pairings. It was quite delicious and great to try something new. Service was spectacular as it's a small room with limited seating. It's also very quiet so you can truly enjoy the food, drinks, and the people you're with.
Underwhelming and not right at all.
Everything on the menu is expensive, sure, but doesn't Boston deserve good sushi? It does, but not here. The quality of the omakase was nothing special, and the bar setting means you're sitting next to complete strangers who have also dumped a lot of money into the evening. At the end of the service, the chef behind the counter went around, tip jar style, to ask which diners wanted to pay *more* for some beef and additional sushi. It felt transparently unfulfilling. Would not go back. Fly to Manhattan for the evening and learn something about sushi.
Best omakase in the city! Excellent food and service,
Best omakase in the city! Excellent food and service, really great experience! Fully recomended. Great ambience
Memorable but pricey dining experience
It was exciting to experience No Relation's omakase which took sushi to an entirely more elevated plane for the two of us. Most of the fish had been sourced from Japan, though there were also others from North America and Europe among the 14 courses. Many of the options were unusual, such as barracuda and several forms of tuna, and all were delicious. After quite a few single units of fish, the last two courses were a tuna tartare (to which for a price you could add uni, or two kinds of caviar) and a pretty bland custard with crabmeat. The restaurant seats seven diners and we had a lot of trouble finding it. There is a small sign on the building for a restaurant whose name I forget, you enter the building, head downstairs and pass through a noisy speakeasy-type venue to reach the entirely serene No Relation sushi bar. We were lost and tried to phone for directions, but could only get voicemail, which was frustrating. Service is attentive, though seemed to be more so if you purchased the more expensive of two sake flights. It had a formality which reminds me of classic French restaurants decades ago. You get one sake for each of five or six groupings of menu items. It was thoughtful that your cup could be refilled once for each sake you had. The amiable chef explained each dish earnestly, though he was not always easy to understand. Quibbles notwithstanding, this is a spectacular dining experience and one we will long remember. Do note that the meal is expensive to begin with and requires payment in advance, and the alcohol and other add-ons when you dine can double the price.
Had a really great time at this omakase! I love that they
Had a really great time at this omakase! I love that they added some toppings and seasonings to most or some of the fish. Everything was super flavorful and they were great with non dairy as well. It was a great portion for the price and they had a very great sake list. Great atmosphere as well! My only complaint is the sushi chef seemed to push the extras a little too hard. Overall, we really loved this experience!

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
