I wanted to love everything.
We received a $100 g.c. which could be used at any of the various restaurants in the group. We chose Mooo. Once we checked the menu online and saw how pricey it is, opted to go to lunch, in Boston, at the Beacon Hill location, the only one of the three Mooo restaurants open for lunch. The restaurant is lovely (bathrooms included!) , and the friendly, attentive and efficient staff made it enjoyable. To stay within our g.c. amount (it was lunch after all), we ordered the Mooo burger, the chicken club sandwich and the basic salad. The salad was good and tossed with a simple, light dressing, (always our preference), but, it was overly salted. We were given rolls with nicely softened butter on the side. Wonderful!, except that they were sprinkled with a few/several salt crystals - unnecessary IMHO. Our sandwiches arrived - huge and pleasing to the eyes! My husband and I split each, to share. Burger was cooked perfectly, moist and just right—but, there wasn’t much overall flavor to speak of. Surprising also that I don’t believe it was char-grilled—that favorite, desired flavor wasn’t detected anyway—which seemed surprising since we were at a steakhouse. The club sandwich was just ok, not remarkable. Each sandwich came with a generous side of perfectly cooked fries, but they too were . . . overly salted. I wanted to love everything. And the prices are—let’s face it—pretty ridiculously expensive. Saw on the menu that 20% gratuity automatically gets taken. On top of that we gave our remaining g.c. balance to the kind server. Glad for him.
Be the first to ReplyExcellence is a ticket that has to be punched every time.
Arrived early for our dinner reservation, went into the bar. Staff is appropriately attentive, never intrusive but available. Response to requests or ideas are engaged not dismissed. Drink suggestions by Staff were great. Seated promptly at reservation time. Total of four in the party. I ordered the Beef Wellington for my entree. The pastry shell was firm, yet parted under the knife; the duxelles and foie-gras were delicate in their texture and taste without being overwhelming adding to the beefy tenderloin medium rare, tender and delicious flavor. The plated wine reduction added a layer of flavor but never took away from the main ingredients: the pastry, duxelles, foie-gras and the tenderloin. I’ve looked forward to having this experience for several years, I finally punched that ticket with Mooo. Whatever you have on your list, get to it. I would recommend anyone in Boston, or visiting the area, to Mooo Beacon Hill, their Bar, their Staff and lastly, their rendition of Beef Wellington. Regards,

Great restaurant, Waygu beef is worth every penny. Truffle fries are delicious, great salads, amazing wine list. Highly recommend. Nice for lunch or dinner!
Be the first to ReplyPoor and selective service
The staff - from reception to Maitre'd to Servers - are all snooty and unfriendly. We came late in the afternoon to have coffee and dessert. We were immediately told that we have about 45 minutes to stay which was fine. We had to get our own menue and stood to order our coffees at the bar. When we sat down, we got the minimum service-- no water, no napkins. And the desserts were not cheap. We felt like it was the biggest favor to us to eat there. Worst restaurant service. I think they're service is selective and prejudiced. My husband always brought his work colleagues there for dinners, I recommend he brings his business elsewhere.

This exquisite steakhouse was within our hotel, XV Beacon, and was one of the most delightful dining experiences we have ever had. A knowledgeable staff and attentive service, PLUS incredible food! Don't miss this delicious dining adventure!

Be the first to ReplyOur favorite modern steakhouse in historic Beacon Hill
Mooo is a restaurant situated in the heart of Boston. It is one of the favorite modern steakhouse in historic Beacon Hill are. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a big smile and friendly service and we immediately felt comfortable. As you enter the place, a magnificent setting welcome you. The menu offers a wide variety of fantastic starters and very exquisite. All the products were fresh and the dishes had the warmth of food. The chefs take great care in selecting the best quality ingredients and you can taste the difference in comparison to some other restaurants We had a pleasant lunch experience with food of the most exquisite flavors. This is by far our favorite restaurant in Boston. And, the staff are lovely and can help with the menu. The service was wonderful and the food was amazing! Thanks to our sommelier for an incredible wine recommendation! Carlos, is the best host that you can ask for! We were very impressed by a special customer service by Carlos, so I highly recommend him. Carlos goes above and beyond what customers need and helps ensure we are happy. He is always very friendly, polite and definitely makes any client feel comfortable with his great attention. Carlos is very familiar with what is on your menu so he always recommends you the best options. I highly recommend going to the Mooo Beacon Hill. We will be back soon!

If the staff of Mooo thinks that they are superior to the guest there is something amiss in this establishment. Furthermore the prices are crazy! Never again!
Be the first to ReplyStay away, deeply regret my birthday dinner here
They have a terrible layout and cram in as many tables as possible in a sub-optimal space. If you're unlucky enough to be stuffed in a corner against a wall they'll do nothing to accommodate you. Lighting is atrocious and you'll be blinded by other people using their phone flashlights to read the menu. The food is nothing going out of your way for. Truly the worst restaurant I've been to in years, I would never recommend it to friends, family, or enemies.

We had dinner here to celebrate our anniversary and our last night in Boston. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! It was also a beautiful restaurant. We highly recommend it!
Be the first to ReplyBirthday dinner at Mooo
My husband and I recently took a trip to Boston to celebrate my birthday. On our first day in town, the hotel and the hotel bartender recommended Mooo for dinner. We were able to make online reservations within the next half hour and walked over to the restaurant. We walked in about 5:20 and were informed that they didn't start dinner service until 5:30 but to please have a seat and they would seat us shortly. Once seated, I received a menu with "Happy Birthday" printed across the top - nice touch. Prices are pretty comparable to any high end steak house. We decided to spit a steak, shrimp scampi, creamed spinach and brussel sprouts. While waiting for our dinner, they brought out the softest dinner rolls lightly salted on top with butter. Talk about melt in your mouth. The dinner was delicious. At the end of the meal, the waiter brought out a birthday desert compliments of the chef. It was a very enjoyable meal.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday party 🤨
I made a birthday party reservation for 6 people at the last min and was very happy to be accommodate. I was asked what’s the occasion. Upon arrival we were seated right next to exit/ entrance. Smart staff would use common sense and figure out that people who come for regular dinner don’t need a special table and people with some sort of event might be pleased to have a better table. Waitress…. NO PERSONALITY or knowledge how to serve. Asked for chocolate martini and I was asked if I wanted olives. Then she came back and said they don’t have chocolate martini. Apple martini? Came back again with answer “no” I ordered a fish and my daughter ordered the same. Both of us got only half of the fish with!!!! STAKE knives. Fish was good though. Dropped utensil was never replaced. Basically we were self served the entire dinner. They should change the name of this place Mooo-Boooooo. Never again. ☝️
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food.....ridiculous prices
Let me start by saying the food was delicious. Our server was average. He wasn't as attentive once he took our order and we didn't order a lot of extras. The prices were ridiculously expensive.

Great breakfast, loved the hash served in a skillet to keep everything hot. Waiter was lovely and brought my a side fruit bowl

Excellent service. Everyone enjoyed their dinner and drinks. No room for desserts. The only complaint was the room was very cold. We had a private room but they just couldn't warm it up.

We ate/drink here a few times as the restaurant was attached to our hotel (XV Beacon). Great breakfast and dinner. Servers were top notch.
Be the first to ReplyModern and elegant steakhouse in historic Beacon Hill.
MOOO Beacon Hill is a casual elegant steakhouse serving American seafood and steaks, in the Beacon Hill area of Boston, Massachusetts. In terms of variety, the menu offerings are plentiful and unique, compared to similar venues, serving this style of food at a commensurate price point. Customers can expect to pay roughly roughly fifty per person, for brunch and over a hundred per person for dinner. Portion size is a bit large for the cost and restaurant tier. Considering these factors, as well as the quality and presentation of food, the restaurant met my expectations. Everything was cooked to order. Beverage wise, drinks were a little overpriced. Most cost over 20 dollars each. Though this is Boston, and drinks at casual pubs are upwards of fifteen a pop. During our most recent visit, we did make reservations in advance, and it took approximately 10-15 minutes to be seated. We have additional people joining our party and they did accommodate that. Drinks came out slow. Appetizers came out in a reasonable amount of time. Main courses came out in a reasonable amount of time. The serving staff was formal and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is elegant, and the overall design of the restaurant is hushed and serene, which suits the intended brand identity and cuisine style. Regarding ambiance, the restaurant is dimly lit towards the back, though light and airy at the entrance. The noise level is quiet. It is a good place to go on a date. Scale wise, tables are somewhat close together within multiple dining spaces, lending itself to the restaurant’s coveted, swanky feel. Overall, I would recommend and anticipate coming back again.

Dinner was fantastic. First, let's start with the bread: coming from the country of bread, France, the brioches with a tiny pinch of salt were very tasty...even more with butter.
Second, my filet came out perfect. The pepper sauce with the seeds added a legitimate twist to the meat. The risotto side with truffles couldn't have tasted any yummier...maybe a bit too small for a shared side.
Shrimp scampi was delicious, al dante pasta with decent amount of big shrimp and the sauce had a good unexpected kick in it.
Finally, our only slight disappointment was maybe the first dessert we ordered, the Panna cotta strawberries and cream. We both weren't comfortable with the overall taste and our flawless waiter nicely agreed to exchange it for the chocolate cake. This piece of dessert was truly enormous and off the chart even if you're not a chocolate lover like me.
Drinks and coffee might be overpriced but it's the downside of most fancy restaurants.
Overall a wonderful dinner with immaculate service. This place tops a lot of other well known steakhouses in the city.
Try it if you have not yet!
Fine spot! Extensive wine list and nice variety on the menu as well. You can eat well for $1000 or for $200 here, so definitely look over the whole menu—not just the steak. Two of us enjoyed the beef Wellington—beautifully cooked and presented—while two others shared the branzino. Sharing, generally, is very possible with the portions here. The shrimp were delightfully large and firm, and the ahi tuna a very nice way to start things off. Service was incredibly relaxed and friendly throughout. Worth the investment!!!

The service is amazing which is why I am giving this restaurant 3 stars and not a well deserved 2 stars.
The food just wasn't happening. The 90 day dry aged rib steak was set to fail when it was cut under an inch thick. If I'm going to pay $85 for a steak why not charge $110 and offer a real cut of meat. The thin cut robbed the meat of the extended dry aged flavor. The cream spinach was a total catastrophe. I could not count how many cheeses were in the lobster mac and cheese but it was overkill.
In general I found everything desperately creative. The atmosphere is a posh, hip steakhouse with an impressive bar menu to sample decedent spirits. That's all you're going to get. And, the bread is good.
The chef needs to tone it down a bit, have a back to basics approach and use his creativity to accent his food not engulf it. He needs to rethink his delivery of what could be an awesome upscale steakhouse menu.
Rib steaks start at an inch and a half.
Beacon Hill Mooo private dining room
We joined our friend's private party in Mooo's Wine Cellar - everything was perfect! Setting was upscale and modern, exquisite service and each dish was delicious.
Next time we have a private party, we will host it at Mooo.
Excellent!
We had dinner at Moo on New Year's Eve. The food and service were great. The ambiance was welcoming and cozy. Everything from the bread to the steak was delicious. The wine list is quite long and a little bit paralyzing so we had to get a suggestion from our waiter. The food was beautifully presented. We had a fantastic time and were very glad we chose this place to end the year.
Be the first to ReplyBest steak in Boston
We treated ourselves to a meal at Mooo & will do so again once we save up some $. It is very expensive but if you can afford it, treat yourself. The steaks we had were perfect - zero complaints. However our bill with a bit of wine was $300 with tip for 2 which is more than we would typically spend for dinner.
Be the first to ReplyVery good but not quite best
Difficult review given we went for dinner on Thanksgiving and had the turkey rather than the steaks. For what it’s worth, the steaks we did see looked incredibly good. The turkey was very good but a little let down by too much white meat v dark meat and a non-inspired stuffing and gravy. Mushroom side was exceptional though. Perhaps normally 5 stars, but it was Thanksgiving.
