We made a reservation; but needed to move up the time after coming from the Malibu Hike and they were able to accommodate us with ease. Upon arrival we were set right away. We were a party of party of 5 and had a beautiful view of the ocean. We ordered a variety of plates from the sea bass to the filet. Everyone was happy with their meal, except my friend that ordered the filet. It did look a bit dry; but again...this is a seafood spot, not a steakhouse. Depending on your seating location, the sun may be in your face; but if you're solar-powered like myself...it's perfect. Parking is Valet ONLY, so prepare for that! There is no lot and PCH is nuts so drive cautiously. I would definitely return

Waitress went above and beyond to make sure everything went well. Unfortunately If i do find myself back there i will not be ordering any steak again. Its just not good.

This was my second visit to Moonshadows, and unfortunately, it will most likely be my last. I had an incredibly frustrating experience due to an issue with their server. My waitress charged my credit card twice and then blamed American Express, claiming my card had declined. To make matters worse, she identified us out to another table, telling them that American Express cards were declining. I immediately contacted American Express, who confirmed that they had not declined any charges. It turned out to be an issue on Moonshadows' end. The most disappointing part of the experience was the lack of accountability. The waitress offered every excuse imaginable but never once apologized for the misinformation or the embarrassment caused by falsely claiming my card had been declined. Customer service at Moonshadows was severely lacking, and this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. I expected more from a place that prides itself on a great dining experience.

Iconic Dining Destination
There is not much I can write about this place that has not already been written. Except that it is a unique experience to each visitor. We had a spacious booth on a gorgeous Southern California summer evening with a fun and engaging waiter who knew the menu well. Everything came out perfectly and timely. Felt as if we were dining a boat. We could see that everyone around us was having a good time and happy to be there. Easy to understand why.

We really enjoyed the food and the view from this great restaurant in Malibu. The service is good, the food is delicious and watching the waves break was fantastic. Try to make a reservation ahead of time to get a table either next to the window inside or by the veranda on the terrace. Sit back and enjoy the view while sipping a cocktail or having some food.

SCAM
This place is running a scam on multiple levels. I had a negative encounter with the hostess and I was also surprised by their "valet service". My friend and I decided to split the check, and at the end of the receipt there was the recommended tip percentages and the equivalent dollar amount next to it. I was about to put the recommended dollar amount for 20% tip, but at the last minute we noticed that the recommended dollar amount was double what the actual 20% tip would be for what we spent. We pointed this out to the hostess, as we thought it was important to let the restaurant know that it risked overcharging its patrons. She told us "you should always do your own math" and when we insisted that people referred to the stated tip amounts at the bottom, she asked us "are you from here or from outside?" which I fail to understand what that had to do with anything. A simple "sorry, I'II let the manager know", would have been appreciated. We felt as though we received passive aggressiveness for simply pointing out a mistake. In addition to this, the valet parking situation is ridiculous. When I arrived at the restaurant, I started to park in the small parking lot outside the restaurant, and we were immediately stopped by a valet employee, saying that we needed to use the valet service and that it was $10. I've been to countless restaurants all over the world, and usually, the valet service is offered when there are countless parking spaces or a large garage, where it makes sense for someone else to help park the car for you. At Moonshadows, the valet employee literally parked the car in the space in front of me, and then pulled out in front of me when it was time for me to leave. It seems like they are offering the valet service not to be helpful, but for a money grab.
lets start with the ambiance.
the place was pretty well maintained and cleaned. biggest reason why i came here was because of the ocean. seeing my wife across me and seeing the ocean next to her was just an amazing experience. ok the meats and potatoes lol the food was ok. for appetizers we ordered fried calamari. this was really good especially with the chipotle dipping sauce. so i give that a 10/10. i had the lobster and crab linguine and my wife had the chillean sea bass. the lobster linguine i will give a 5/10. i messed up by asking the waiter for his opinion instead of going with my gut. not enough lobster and the sauce wasnt all that great. the chillean sea bass was really delicious according to my wife. i did get a small bite and yes it was really delicious. they give you some sauce to go with the fish and it was so tasty. they served the sea bass with spinach and black rice, the spinach wasnt washed properly and the black rice was kind of hard and not seasoned. if they serve the sea bass with other side then it would of gotten a 10/10. the fish was delicious but the sides suck so we gave it a 6/10. for desert we ordered apple pies with vanilla ice cream. it was pretty good 9/10. we ended up spending around 150 for these 4 items. you can say you are paying for the view lol. will we go back? of course not but it was one of a time experience. maybe if the food was changed i bit maybe we will go back. i gave it 4 stars because of the view. also the waitresses were really attentive. so two thumbs up to the waitresses. the staff up in the front was really helpful so 10/10 for the staff good job

Great views, epic location, perfect sunset.
The best spot is on the patio at happy hour. The cocktails are great and the food has improved massively over the many years they have been a Malibu institution. The menu has gotten hip with the times. Don't expect the world's best foodie meal but expect decent bites and a beautiful and nice night out in Malibu. The staff is lovely and as accommodating as doable. The bar is shockingly hip and yet indie. Expect the unexpected :)

Came to Moonshadows yesterday with my friend and asked to be seated outside. The server came and we asked for a bottle of wine and 2 appetizers to start. We were outside for an 45- min to an hour and no one came to check on us. At all. We ran out of water and no one came to refill. We even finished the bottle and cleaned our appetizer plates because they were so good and we saw a different server we waved down and they pretended they didn't see us. We decided we were going to leave and ask for the check but no one came to even ask for the check for. We went up to the hostess for the check and moved on from there. What an unfortunate experience for the beautiful scenery and tasty food.

Phenomenal spot just above the beach in Malibu - you feel like you're suspended in the sea. Great view of sunsets. The food was really good - a fusion on Chinese/thai and sea food. And the price was reasonable. Good service. The tables outside for the evening felt too cold, despite the external warmers, as this is on the coast with a lot of wind. But we really really enjoyed the dinner inside on a table by the windows. Highly recommend it.

We had the Maine lobster rolls and would not get again. Lots of bread and celery, hardly any lobster & no melted butter. Sweet potato fries were good. Valet park required $$$

Service was fantastic - from the host to the service and the bus staff. We sat out on the patio - was very well warmed by the heaters: listening to the waves hittting the shore was wonderful. I live in Ojai and ate here because my nephew lives in Santa Monica. We wanted to take him out for his birthday. The food was good - but not good enough so that I would want to go again. The calamari was tender and prepared well. I had Black Cod - it was good. But frankly, no better than what I make at home. Black Cod is hard to get so whenever I see it, I buy it. They brought a nice birthday panna cotta for our nephew for his bday. I ordered tiramisu and frankly, tasted like a big serving of whipped cream. Very disappointing. If I lived closer, I might go back. But nothing spectacular to bring me there.

As much as the location is wonderful, my visit here was very disappointing. Very poor menu for those with dietary restrictions (i.e. not a single sandwich for vegetarians, never mind vegans), staff seemed snobbish and not very welcoming (we came in for lunch straight after a nearby hike, in hiking gear), and the beet salad I ordered could barely be called a salad - just a stack of cooked beats, thin layer of cheese on top of the stack and some microgreens. Quite pretty, but should not be served as a salad or a lunch option; I left hungry after paying $80 for two. My husband’s sandwich was ‘nothing to write home about’. Would only recommend this place for those looking for views or wanting to celebrate with a nice glass of wine. Would not recommend to anyone actually wanting to eat a decent meal. Oh, and they charge you $10 for a mandatory valet parking.

Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
