Had the chicken ramen. Ramen was flavorful and delicious.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a lovely lunch here.
In an out of the way alcove of the mall, this place is on the third floor. We shared the shrimp buns, the kimchi and the ginger scallion noodles. All was great. I would easily go back.

Been wanting to try this place out for a couple of months now because of all the momofuku hype! Would definitely recommend making a reservation, I came on a Thursday night with a party of 3 and all tables were reserved (got a bar seat tho!). We got several items that varied in quality: Mushroom Ramen (3.5/5): decent ramen, honestly nothing too special, noodles were well cooked, broth was seasoned enough, not enough toppings for how much the base ramen cost in my opinion, an egg should not have to cost extra for a $20+ bowl of ramen Cumin Beef Noodle (5/5): best dish out of the 4 we got, the beef was so flavorful and not at all chewy, the dish was a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spicy, celery added a great crunch Ginger Scallion Noodle (4/5): enjoyed this dish overall, had a fresh grassy sweet taste, very diverse texturally, I enjoyed it but felt like it needed something savory to balance out the flavors Shiitake Bun (5/5): this app was fire, If you get anything, definitely try one of the buns-- the bread is so pillowy soft and the mushrooms had such impressive crunch I thoroughly enjoyed this
Be the first to ReplyWe loved the fresh yet spicy flavors across the board.
Shrimp buns were outrageous, hamachi crudo was devine, and the cumin spiced beef right on point. The house made kimchi took it all up a notch. And a cool vibe with great service!!

We had a cozy dinner here ~ the menu is quick and simple offering delicious ramen and noodles. We also loved the sesame chocolate chip cookies. Everything came out quickly and staff was so friendly. Find them in the third floor of The Shops at Columbus Circle.

Momofuku Noodle Bar is located on the third floor of the Columbus Circle Mall. This was the first restaurant we made a stop at during our trip to New York City. Despite it being a weekday (Wednesday), reservations were required. We were able to secure our spot for 2 at the 3 PM time slot. Luckily, we did not have to wait and were promptly seated at one of the tables by the bar. Momofuku is definitely a name that attracts people when it comes to ramen. The restaurant itself had a very contemporary design with light wood and modern lighting fixtures, which is perfect for the location in Columbus Circle. The noodle menu is pretty straight forward, with more of a focus being placed on the variety of bao buns, fried chicken, and other items being offered. Given the fact that it started snowing very hard upon getting to Columbus Circle, a warm bowl of ramen was definitely warranted. There was a very interesting ramen of the day that we passed on (white truffle ramen, which I believe was $60). We opted to keep it simple with the Garlic Chicken Ramen ($20, baby bok choy, poached egg) and the Smoked Pork Ramen ($21, pork belly, poached egg, bamboo). My fiancée's Smoked Pork Ramen had a slight kick to it, and my Garlic Chicken Ramen was garlic forward (go figure, but definitely not overpowering, and neither was the smoke or spice on the Pork Ramen). The portions were also a good size. We left Momofuku Noodle Bar full and continued to walk around the mall. I wish more variety was included in their noodles/ramen menu, but everything was certainly delicious. Given the smaller field of competition, they would do really good in South Florida-- a logical place for them to expand. Regardless, we'll have to take a hard look at Momofuku vs. other ramen spots in the city next time we are here.

Given the name @momofukunoodlebar I should have started with the Smoked Pork Ramen but the Pork Belly Buns were just too goo. Insta: @thehungrysw

I may not have ordered the best dishes but I found the food bland and lacking flavor. The spicy cucumber salad consisted of big chunks of cucumber lightly marinated and covered with a powdery peanut/chili combination. It was edible but bland, even with the topping. The pork buns were inundated with what tasted like a hoisin sauce I might buy at the supermarket (the pork bellies were good though) and priced at $16 for two buns. The biggest disappointment was the ginger scallion noodles which had a taste that could charitably be described as subtle. On top of little to no flavor the noodles were pasty. These three dishes plus one can of beer cost $61. Just MHO. Service and ambiance were fine.

Boyfriend ordered a pork ramen bowl with my family and an hour later threw up the entire bowl, nothing else. Bed-ridden and beyond weak for the rest of the day and barely had the energy to catch my flight. Never dining here again.

Momofuku never disappoints. We did not have a reservation but we only waited about 30 mins for seat at the bar. The experience was still phenomenal, so don't be deterred by no having an RSVP. The food was amazing, those shrimp cakes in the bao bun are to die for.Cons: pricey, but worth it.

The Noodle Bar is a Columbus Circle area fave! I was hesitant to visit at first, as I wasn't sure if they had many vegetarian options, but I was pleasantly surprised. The truffle rice cakes are a must-try, as they're bursting with truffle flavor. However, they may not always be available as I believe they are a special menu item. The charred romaine salad is also delicious, with the char adding an extra depth of flavor.Another favorite of mine are the shiitake buns, which are very filling and full of earthy flavors. While the cocktails, such as the Beach Bird and the Spritz, are okay, the entrees are definitely the highlight of the menu. The desserts, on the other hand, are just okay. The service at the Noodle Bar is good, and the lively atmosphere adds to the fast-paced, high-energy vibe. I can't wait to visit again whenever I'm in the Columbus Circle area.

Everything here was delicious! I am mostly a purist when it comes to Asian food, but the fusion here was superbly done! I was happy with both the food and cocktails! The steamed pork belly bao buns, dry spice chicken wings, and smoked pork ramen were all packed with flavor - my tastebuds were definitely happy! It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! And the Tamari Old Fashioned paired well with the food! Two thumbs up from me! :)
Be the first to ReplyWOW! I was completely blown away by this restaurant.
My group and I tried a variety of the appetizers including the pork belly buns, spicy cucumber salad, crispy potatoes, and bussels sporuts. I also tried the smoked pork ramen and lunar mai tai cocktail. The pork was so delicious- it melts in your mouth and is cooked so well. Both the potatoes and brussels have seasoning that is so flavorful and rich. Definitely very simple yet elegant and would order over and over again. The ambience is also very elevated casual which was perfect for our group. They are located inside the mall on the top floor. Would highly recommend!

Soup is pretty good (first 10 sips) afterwards, it gets saltier and saltier. We just wanted a simple Japanese ramen (your standard ramen) but no, they try to be a bit fancy and no... we didn't like. We sat at the bar counter and the service was pretty bad. Not attentive at all. Overall, poor service, mediocre ramen. Btw - I got the garlic chicken ramen. Chicken was okay. Oh! The scallions really saved the ramen. It just tastes a bit healthier. But if you're seeking your traditional Japanese ramen, this place won't satisfy that craving.

I kind of wanted to be a hater because Momofuku is such a mainstream pick for a restaurant (an annoying take, I know) but for a ramen spot the menu options are unique and the food is pretty solid too. In fact, I find their sides much more appealing than their namesake noodle dishes, whose flavors I found to be one note. The top-notch service, tasty sides and interesting dessert made this a really fun restaurant to take a group to, and the location inside the beautiful Columbus Circle building really plussed up the experience.David Chang is a polarizing figure in some circles, but his restaurants all have a playful twist I find very appealing. I appreciate that the original Momofuku Noodle bar's East Village location is credited with popularizing ramen in NY and the blossoming modern Asian food scene in the neighborhood. The restaurant scene when I attended high school in the East Village a couple of decades ago was quite different from what it is today. So while the ginger scallion noodles with pickled shiitake, wakame, and cucumber didn't hit the flavor notes I would've enjoyed in a noodle dish, the sides did hit. The shrimp buns are always a win, the mussels came in a great portion size and were full of flavor. The charred lettuce smothered in what tasted like an elevated green goddess sauce with chopped pistachios were also a delight. I loved finishing off the meal with their guava and cheese softserve. The guava and cheese flavor didn't come out as strongly as I hoped, but the quality of the cream was great.Compared to the East Village location this Uptown one is more spacious, and I thought the staff was especially friendly and warm here. I love the neon peach sign out front, which really adds to the playful ambience the brand creates at all their locations. If I come back, the seared shrimp buns will be the first thing I order.
Be the first to ReplyVery strange experience having lunch here a few days ago.
The space is really nice and modern and a lot bigger than the EV location. The pork bun appetizers were top notch - extremely delicious. The ramen however was bizarre. I ordered the pork tonkotsu ramen and it was just BLAND. Like zero umami. I don't even understand how it's considered ramen. I've eaten at EV location many times and have never had this issue so not sure what was going on. Basically unseasoned hot water with noodles. I will say the noodle texture was perfect. Won't come back!

At the end of the day this restaurant is a Korean-American's take on Japanese ramen. David Chang has always said it's an American ramen and doesn't want to try to make Japanese ramen because he has too much respect for it.Nomz: Started off with the pork belly buns, which are fantastic. They are some of the best pork belly buns in the city in my opinion. After those, I had the smoked pork ramen. The pork within it was on the thicker end but the ramen flavor was lacking overall. The pork wasn't super flavorful and the broth was missing umami. I would have loved to just add salt to get any sort of flavor in it whatsoever. Service: We had one of the first reservations for lunch so not very busy. Waiter was good, refilled water promptly. Ambiance: Bigger than the east village location, more on the modern side but still minimalistic. The immediate bar area has like a diner feel with the seating area and bar stool style. The end of it works for a group of 3-4 because it wraps around. Nope or Dope: Nope, the ramen is not for me but the pork belly buns might be worth a visit back, we'll see!

Excellent and attentive service (until they rushed us out for the next reservation at our table before 9pm). 4 of us friends from University came here for dinner as part of our mini reunion celebration. We had made reservations for 7pm and by 8:45pm they were clearing our table and politely requesting that we leave. That's NYC, I guess! The food was superb ... really tasty... we tried the recommended specials of the bbq ribs and the rice cake which were both delicious, an excellent tuna tartar, the yummy pork buns, the tasty garlic artichokes -which took our group by surprise, the sumptuous pork belly ramen which we shared among 3 of us, and topped off the meal with a delightful soft serve Vietnamese coffee ice cream! The food and attentive service is worth the hype.

Recently tried this location for the first time and enjoyed the additional space more than the east village location. The Mushroom Buns were great but the Pork Buns were very fatty. The cocktails were good, and the coffee soft serve was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyGood service very nice but surprisingly tiny.
The food was decent but extremely overpriced.

I recently wrote a glowing review of Momofuku Noodle Bar, but just rescinded it after a terrible evening there on a Saturday night. The servers were so busy comping (and providing a a dish of seemingly every menu item to) the couple on one side of me, and acting as a three-man team covering the young girls on the other side (and bringing them, too, extra dishes that they hadn't ordered, but "must try") that I received zero service. Wanted to order more items than my always-favorite Cumin Lamb, but not to be, no one cared to pay attention. On the bright side, it provided me with an hour-long rest before trekking back in the cold to the East Side. BUT Im truly pissed off and disappointed. I've been there often in the daytime, and have never witnessed such negligent, undisciplined service.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible service, incredible ambiance, incredible food.
Will be back every chance I have! Highly recommend the spicy cucumber salad, all of the noodles (haha), and the sake tini to drink if you like dill. So delicious!

Delicious! We had a bunch of items on their menu and they all were AMAZING! This place stood out for all the hype and fame. They do have a nice ambiance and are quick on service. For starters we had the shishito peppers and the shrimp buns. Then we had the smoked pork ramen with Cumin lamb noodles. One thing to note is when they say spicy, they mean it! We ended it with their special Miso tart which was a combination of Matcha, Chocolate and sesame. A perfect date night dinner! Highly recommend this place.
