My first visit to a Ukrainian restaurant & it was a success! We made reservations & showed up a little early with no problem. We did move from the table that was immediately against the window - it looked super cramped for a party of four. We tried all the small plates and my favorite was the Red Cabbage Holubtsi (fire roasted eggplant ikra, buckwheat stuffing w/ smoked pepper ajvar, rye bread crumble). For the main, we tried the NY Strip & it was so tender! For dessert, we tried the honey cake & the cheesecake. The honey cake seemed a bit dry & the cheesecake was a huge favorite. Pair it with your favorite flavored vodka (horseradish) & enjoy!

I was visiting from Portland Oregon and came to this gem of a restaurant. I have to admit Portlanders can be a little snobby about their food. We are quite spoiled for sure. But I was really impressed with the Denver food scene. I did not have one bad meal. But I must say Molotov was definitely my favorite and the highlight of our trip. The meal, service and ambiance were really exceptional. I don't use that word lightly. When going out these days I find myself more disappointed than not. So I was thrilled to be blown away by my Molotov experience. I love the cozy intimate feel of the restaurant. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. Our waiter gave us excellent wine suggestions that really put our meal over the top. The food was so fresh and the flavors were perfect. Absolutely every bite I had was heaven and melted in my mouth. As you can see from the pictures we tried a lot of dishes. If I lived in Denver I would definitely be a regular. I will absolutely go whenever I visit. (Maybe open one in Portland ) If you want to try something really special and out of the ordinary, you must try Molotov.k
I absolutely loved this dinner.
The space is small, cozy, and intimate with candlelight and bench seating. Food wise, I was blown away. We ordered the Borscht, English Pea Pelmeni (dumplings) and Red Cabbage Holubtsi (stuffed cabbage) as small plates and the Fried Quail as our main. The Pelemeni was like spring in a bowl with the light sauce and peas. The Borscht was served cold like a gazpacho over leeks, egg yolk and relish - each bite was a flavor bomb. The quail was crispy and juicy and served alongside deliciously prepared beets, carrots, and peas. My favorite part is that every dish was intentional and unique - not something I could order anywhere else in Denver. I also had a cocktail (forget the name!) It was very interesting in a good way- herbacious and vegetal. However, the cocktails were super expensive ($17) so I only ordered one.

Fun cozy ambiance and design, delicious cuisine, friendly service. Walked in without a resi, sat immediately at the bar. Very fun spot.
Molotov gave me one of my absolute favorite dining
Molotov gave me one of my absolute favorite dining experiences this year. For a cold winters night, the space was perfect and the service made you feel like you were sitting in your grandmas dining room. * We started our evening with a horseradish vodka shot with the owner and chef, Bo Porytko and learned a Ukrainian cheers which started the tone. From the corned beef butter to the Parnsnip Varenyky, to the lamb we left happy. * Bravo Molotov for figuring out how to make fine dining approachable and for staying true to the neighborhood! * Special shout out to our boy Andrew who led us on our journey!
Artistically decorated and crafted with heart, it's clear
Artistically decorated and crafted with heart, it's clear this place is much more than the investor-food group-fueled establishments that populate the upper echelon of dining in town. This spot feels genuine, driven by real people rather than investment bros... it's imbued with so much love and care. Not only is this palpable visually, but the care also manifests in the taste of the food. While I wasn't familiar with Ukrainian cuisine, members of my party were, and they confirmed that this place is THE BOMB. Every dish struck the perfect balance between richness and lightness. We explored a large portion of the menu, and everything was stellar. The lamb was my choice for the main course, and it was incredibly delicious--I'm still thinking about and drooling over it. Our evening began with a shot of their house horseradish horilka and concluded with both an amazing mousse and a blood orange tart. In summary, as we left, all we could talk about was how eager we are to return.

I was so excited to relive my childhood with some Eastern European food. But it was not to be. I am glad a chef is bringing Ukrainian/Eastern European cuisine to the forefront of Denver. I even like that the chef is adding a modern twist. Although the food has the trademarks of Eastern European cuisine, focusing on savory flavors and hearty dishes, there was a disconnect between the concept and execution. We shared three bites and three mains; the sausage was the only plate we finished. We may be outliers, but we also did not enjoy the cocktails. I do not think that we will go back, but I hope they find their following and do well.

Such a vibe! We had a great time going here for my husband's birthday. My kiddo had a chai wine which was non-alcoholic and they loved it. I had a beet drink (slap that baby, make it free, I believe--extra points for the labyrinth reference) and I have never had a more delicious beet anything in my life. I'm not that much of a beet person, but it was so good. My husband had the old fashioned which wasn't his favorite, but the horseradish vodka was mind-blowing. We couldn't get enough of the lamb bigos of the veal piroshki. The sausage was good and varenyky were interesting but they weren't the faves. The service was great--unobtrusive but helpful. Overall, some of the best food I've had in Denver. I'd bring guests here to try to convince them that Denver is still cool, and not a trust-fund graveyard full of over-confident, under-talented people gentrifying a city that was once full of life. It screams old Denver, and that's the best compliment I can give it.

Some of the dishes were lovely but it just didn't live up to the hype. Great wine. Lovely crab appetizer. But the lamb shank - which was crazy expensive at $47: the lamb was delectable the rest of the dish was over salted and not balanced at all. Felt intimate but at the same time lots of tension in the room... Not sure if it was an off night but at those prices won't be going back to find out.
