Hip and lovely spot tucked away on a side street.
Great selection of food with some exotic choices that would make for a nice date night. Quite expensive though, and while the food was good it wasn't comensurate with the price. Worth trying to judge for yourself.

Service remains outstanding, but food has slipped tremendously. This place isn't even close to what it used to be.
Be the first to Reply7 years ago, I visited Mizuna and gave them 5 stars.
It was an amazing dinner. Yesterday, my wife and I visited again. Again, we ordered the chef's tasting menu. This time, the fish entrees were just alright but most was very good. The service was great. Here's the problem. They are now tacking on a 22% fee to ensure every employee gets a tip... literally, every employee as our server explained. If we got horrible service... yep, still giving them 22% on top of the bill! I like using my own "voice" to say if I liked the service. I bussed tables as a teen. If I upset a server, they didn't share tips with me. I learned real quick. I prefer the old model over the new one that automatically imposes a 22% regardless. So, I can't recommend Mizuna anymore.

We went here for the first time tonight and had such a wonderful experience. The staff was beyond accommodating as we somewhat unexpectedly ended up dining with our two year old and our server, Nate, along with the entire staff (including the head chef) worked the whole time to ensure we all had a special and memorable experience. We did the chefs coastal tasting and every plate was divine! They did special things to include our kiddo throughout the process and it was overall just a great dinner to remember. Thanks to all the folks at Mizuna for making our night so delicious and so special!

Service was good, the food is average and the prices are INSANE for what you are getting. WARNING- If you are a party of 6 or more you get NO choice on what you want to order. Once we sat down we were told you don't get a choice, you have to have the 10 course meal. Does their website mention this? No! Do they tell you that when you book your reservation? No! Here's what it says from their website "Three Course $125 (Choose 1 course from each category) / Chef's Tasting Menu $145 / Coastal Tasting Menu $165". NO MENTION that if you are party of 6 or more you don't get a choice! We said we really don't want a 10 course meal could we please just do the 3 course meal and they said No! We had people in our group with certain food allergies and preferences and the kitchen was accommodating but the whole thing felt like a scam. We were celebrating a friends bday and she picked the place so we felt stuck. Reluctantly we agreed and the waiter asked which menu would we like - coastal or chef. We asked for a printed menu so we could see what each menu provided and they said they didn't have menus. What restaurant doesn't have a menu? They had a wine menu but no menu for the food? The waiter told us what was on the seafood menu but he didn't know all the items on the chefs menu so we just threw caution to the wind and ordered both. One of the dishes that someone at our table received was 4 slices of a Granny Smith apple!!! 4 slices of an apple???? Come on owner Frank B., don't you value your guests? It's an insult to charge us for such a dish and call it gourmet. At the end of the night our bill was about $1,600 for 6 people. This included one bottle of wine and 1 Cocktail and a Soda. The food was average, the service was fine and the price is so incredibly wrong for what you got, 10 tablespoons of food with little creativity besides the dessert.
Be the first to ReplyBest restaurant I've ever been to.

Came here with a group of 8 last night and had tony as our server. Food was delicious and ambiance was cozy and calming. The service was top notch and it felt like a great experience. We had 3 chefs tasting menu which was land and sea and 5 coastal tasting menus. I personally would want the coastal next time! I was a bit jealous of the choices. All the cocktails we tried were great and we got a goody bag of chocolate, muffins and cookies to go! Only thing that would make this better if there was validated parking.
Be the first to ReplyI had an amazing experience at Mizuna for a first time
I had an amazing experience at Mizuna for a first time visit. I was traveling solo to Denver and wanted a fine dining experience and got exactly what I wanted. The portions were small, but perfect for me and I had a great view of the kitchen which I enjoyed. I didn't get my server's name, but he was FANTASTIC! I needed the food slowed down he did it, I wanted pairing recommendations, got them, changes to the Chef's menu, done. And he was just an overall joy of a person! They even gave me some cookies and muffins in a cute bag when I was done. The food was delicious, but I feel like maybe I'm not a fan of grouper (lol), the beef wellington was life-changing. Would definitely go back.

"Hospitality IncludedThe CHP (Creating Happy People) Fee included in your total supports the entire team behind your experience. If you do not wish to contribute to pay equity, please let us know and we'll remove it from your bill."Sorry what? How condescending is this? They include 22% "Create Happy People" fee, and they have the nerve to say "If you do not wish to contribute to pay equity.."??
Be the first to ReplyOne of Denver's best restaurants.
Was there recently by mistake. Let me explain...I was shocked when I recently made a reservation at Mizuna for Valentine's Day dinner and there were all kinds of seating choices open. How lucky! So I picked a prime time and felt quite competent as a husband who was going to show his beautiful bride how much I treasured her. And all of that was working pretty well until I realized on the morning of February 14th that I had made the reservation for February 16th.What an idiot. Of course they'd had lots of seating options available. Who would want to go there 2 days after VD? Apparently, not a whole bunch of people. So I quickly found another spot for Valentine's Day, and called Mizuna to ask if I could reschedule. They couldn't have been nicer and let me transfer my deposit to a new date when we had a great experience. The first interesting thing I noticed when we did eat there was that Mizuna is clearly aiming at getting Denver's first Michelin starred restaurant rating (if and when Denver ever gets to be considered for Michelin star-reviewed restaurants). At Mizuna these days they are doing the things that Michelin-starred restaurants do. For example: When you arrive they offer you a welcoming glass of champagne. They then present you with a menu which has a selection of "gustation" dinners where you choose from a list of set courses and then pick from options on that list. They then start you off with a series of amuse bouche plates, not mentioned on the list of menu dishes, teasing your palate with single bite delicious tastes. They also offer a list of "indulgences" so that after you decide on a certain number of courses you then also have the opportunity to add extra servings of things like a supplement of caviar, or an accompaniment of A5 Wagyu beef on the side, or a garnish of white truffles in addition to your already pricey order. They also offer wine pairings, and pairings at the "reserve" level that will cost you that much more but kick things up a serious notch. And finally after you've finished what was way too much for my wife and I to eat so we had to take a box of left-overs home, they send you off with a goodie bag that includes incredible muffins for your breakfast the following morning, choice pieces of chocolates, and their homemade cookies to boot! All of that is exactly what you would see at the Michelin-starred restaurants we've had the chance to visit. That said the meal was definitely worthy of a Michelin star and of course a 5 star Yelp review. Pix of a couple of the courses are included below, and the night's manager and sommelier recommended a beautiful french pinot noir that was at just the right price point considering the meal that we ordered. So my friends, if you're wanting to celebrate an important event or you're just up for spending some serious dough on a meal to remember then head on over the Mizuna's, a Denver restaurant that some day, if the folks at Michelin ever decide to include Denver in its list of cities eligible for star ratings, is sure to show up for serious contention, along with places like Beckon, and Fruition.Caio bella,David M.
Be the first to ReplyWe ate dinner here last night.
Had a blast at the bar. We did the three course. I had the Beef Wellington and the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Both were divine. Seriously. The Banana Crème Brûlée was out of this world. Service was great. One tiny hiccup. I only ate half of my lobster Mac and cheese and had the remaining boxed to take home. We were all even joking around at the bar about how awesome my morning was going to be with my left over lobster Mac and cheese. They forgot to put it in my to go bag. I woke up this am (a little hung over) and no left over Lobster Mac and cheese. Bummer. Great special occasion dinner.

We had dinner here the other night and it was amazing! Nate, our waiter was very engaging and Bill the sommelier knows his beverages. The whole staff was attentive and the service was the best. Now, about the food! We had the three course tasting menu and everything was fabulous. The bison ribs and Beef Wellington melted in your mouth. The appetizers were delicious and desserts topped the whole experience off. We couldn't have had a better celebration for my 70th birthday!
Be the first to ReplyWe had a wonderful experience at Mizuna.
The dining room is very quaint, cozy, with great low lighting. Our waiter was so kind, attentive, but also didn't rush us at all. We loved this! They spaced out the different dishes perfectly allowing a true dining experience. We opted for the three course meal and everything we ate was delicious. The lobster Mac and cheese is a classic dish for them, and very tasty. They even included Complimentary champagne, muffins, cookies, and chocolates!!
Be the first to ReplyI went to this place with a date this past weekend.
We sat at the bar because that's our preference. The food was fantastic. We ordered the seven course chefs tasting menu with two cocktails to start. I think the cocktail was called apple smash and it was delicious. We moved on to a nice Bordeaux blend with dinner. I got the seafood focused chefs tasting menu, and my favorite course was these little pasta pockets that were stuffed with buffalo cheese, topped with truffle oil, shaved truffle, and Parmesan foam, and garnished with a healthy serving of roasted lobster, it was amazing. The only reason I'm not giving this place a five star review is because the bartender wasn't very attentive, his wine pours were below standard and he provided me a bill without the itemized portion and failed to mention that there is a 22% gratuity added to the bill! Thank God the couple next to me whispered it to me when he stepped away. When you are paying that much money you need to make sure that your guests understand your policies when they are outside of the norm. With the right level of service additional gratuity can easily be earned. The fact that this was never mentioned & the itemized portion of the bill was withheld felt very shady, especially when you're paying over $500 for a meal. I'm willing to give this place another try bc the rest of the staff was friendly including the chefs speaking to me as I entered and exited. They seemed genuine & I loved that....but I will not be sitting at the bar. I forget his name but he is a white man w brown hair in his mid 50's and mentioned he's on his 3rd marriage. Watch out for this guy.

I ordered the Thanksgiving dinner for two which was just about $200. Here's the breakdown:Rolls were like paperweightsSalad was like grocery store salad bagBrussels were bitter hard and inedible Mashed potatoes - averageTurkey was too dry and tasteless to eatGravy was also tastelessLobster Mac was disgusting the sauce was chunky and the lobster was like rubberThe "crumble" was a dish of berry soup The ice cream was grainy and even to sweet for me a person who will eat chunks of brown sugarThis was the worst thanksgiving food I have ever had. It wasn't worth the price of a happy meal.
Be the first to ReplyAny French bakery would love to have this chef and this
Any French bakery would love to have this chef and this menu. The entire experience was one filled with the pleasure of good food. Everything about the evening was enjoyable. It was a birthday dinner so we probably ended up with a few extras (thinking caviar and other small plates). For the absolute standouts, in order of when we got them: Welcome Drink: they pour you some Brut, but my wife is pregnant and can't drink alcohol, so our waiter mixed my wife a custom mocktail just for her. It had Lavender, lemon juice, cranberry juice, and something for the carbonation. It tasted better than the Brut. Siberian de Luxe Caviar: we were given this with some crème fraîche and puff pastry. This was the start of night and set us off on an excellent night. Bread and Butter: the bread is kind of thick but still fluffy and it's baked with fennel (sounds weird). The hero of this pairing is the butter, I swear that they have a cow out back (they don't have a cow out back) that produces the freshest source for their dairy. That butter is amazing and the fennel in the bread evens out the creamy deliciousness of this butter. If I could, I would give them 5 stars just for the butter. Lobster Mac and Cheese: don't ever not get this if you're ordering the 3 course meal. If you are in a party of two of you, there should be at least half of the table with this. Even without the lobster this dish would still be on this list. Again, that cow out back is giving them the best source of dairy. We wanted to eat everything, but we had snacked beforehand (looking at the reviews about these being small plates). You do not need to, as you can see in my final photo, we have 7 boxes (3 for leftovers, 2 for deserts that we didn't even have a chance to eat, 1 full of cookies, and a small one for chocolates)! This was definitely worth every penny and more.
Be the first to ReplyMizuna is a bakery pretending to be a French restaurant.
Spouse and I went for our first time in celebration of our anniversary. We elected to go with the tasting menu paired with wine.Good experiences from dining included the cookie and roll. The cookie tasted sweet, airy, and light. The roll "unclear if it was meant to be one of the dishes" was delicious. Also, the quality of fish they served was great. Also, service was what you would expect for fine dining. Friendly and professional staff :)As for the rest of the tasting, it was disharmonious. They could improve on the seasonings, finding harmony on dishes, and finding wines that compliment the food.example, the scallop plate paired with heavy tannin red wine. The scallop was beautiful, but that's it, the dish was just a scallop. I think it was served on mashed potato. There was nothing bringing them together. Any kid fresh out of culinary trade school could do that "and likely do it better".Then there was the wine. It was a heavy tannin red. I thought if it could breath, it might go sweater. nope.Even if it had, it didn't pair well with scallops. I don't know if there has ever been a good red wine- fish pairing.Another example, Soggy popcorn on himache. The popcorn stuck to my teeth and added a horrible texture to the bite. Am I being to harsh in giving one star. At more than $400 dinner for two, no I'm not being harsh and also I think one star is too high.Recommendations to chef.Try the dishes you prepare.Walk around your restaurant during the evening to see the experience your customers are having.
Be the first to ReplyA restaurant that over prices their food and under delivers
A restaurant that over prices their food and under delivers on said overpriced food. My husband and I ordered the chefs table expecting a well assembled and mind blowing pallet pleasing experience. Unfortunately what we received was bland, uninspiring and hilariously small portions. Our duck was undercooked, the salad was bagged lettuce with finely cut pear and the highlight of the meal was the brioche bun with fennel butter between courses. If you're looking for a fine dining experience with both food and atmosphere in mind we recommend Avelina. To be honest I'd pay Mizuna price for Avelina dishes. We will not be returning.
Be the first to ReplyHad a not so impressive evening.
We have got me several times with great results. However tonight food was not the best to follow-up with the bill originally being $900 total. Actually a $300 error thinking not a good place for a regular meal. Was hugely concerned but got that the did not seem so.
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed the atmosphere, service and Chef's tasting menu.
My palate was taken for a trip, each dish was unique and had its own character. I could tell the kitchen worked very hard to present a very flavorful and playful menu. I sat in the wine room and it was cozy + intimate. Looking forward to going again and tasting new items on menu.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic in every way.
This is a true luxury experience where both the food and the cocktails are delivered to perfection. There is a definite attention to details here. From the moment you arrive a team of professionals takes care of your needs. Catering their selections to your tastes when possible. We did the seven course chef menu. Allowing the kitchen to decide what we received. There was a couple things that were just "good", but overall the night was filled with exceptional dishes. Sure you won't get out of there for much less that $500 for two if you're drinking, but this is meant for a special night and there aren't many restaurants in town to rival this.
Be the first to ReplyI love good food and creativity.
I did the multicourse experience here (7 courses?) and it was consistently subpar. They even tried to make their bread roll in the middle of the tasting a big deal with a longtime employee but was also subpar. The only good course was the sashimi. Skip this place.
Be the first to ReplyIt was okay.
Took forever to get out appetizer and when it came it was mediocre at best. Food was meh. Panda cota was the only outstanding thing about the meal. Won't be spending my money there again.
