MingHin Cuisine Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
Poor customer service and it's not the first time being
Poor customer service and it's not the first time being like this. Won't place order from them anymore
Clean restaurant.
Food looks better than it tastes. Honey Beef short ribs were very tough. Hard to chew. Steamed pork dumplings were good but nothing special. Best dish was the barbecue pork crepes which had little pieces of chopped barbecue spare ribs inside them. Very tasty.
We went here for dinner Friday evening with some friends.
It was quite busy but we were seated immediately. This was everybody's first time here and we weren't sure how it works. No one explained how to order etc we had to eventually flag down a waiter to explain. They can definitely improve on that or check if it's your first time here. Anycase, u order your food and drinks on the iPad, add it to the cart and then submit your order. There's a separate paper menu where u select items and the waiter comes to get it. This place is great for sharing different dishes. We ordered so much food.... and it all was so good & flavorful. The short ribs was my favorite and the shrimp crepes. The condiments they provide was a perfect addition to the meals. They also give u a complimentary pot of green tea. We also ordered a couple of cocktails and sake- it was ok. They have quite a big menu so we'll be back to try some new dishes. *the bill came to about little over $150 (for the amount of food I think it's a decent price **if it's your first time let them know so that they can explain how it works ***parking can be hard to find especially on a Friday night in China town
We settled for this place after our plans didn't work out
We settled for this place after our plans didn't work out and I'm glad we did! The food was super delicious and packed with flavorful fillings!! The staff was quite cold to us... when we sat down, the handed us a menu and ipad and didn't instruct us how to order. They left us at our table for quite a long time before returning. When I asked for soy sauce, the lady seemed annoyed. Also took them forever to give us the check.
It is like an assembly line.
Food quality is not the best. Hunan chicken was like leather. Staff is not very courteous or attentive. First and last time going here.
What a delight!
We took a chance and had dinner for 5 here to celebrate our son's college graduation. What a night of amazing food and drink! We are from Cincinnati and don't have anything on this level of asian cuisine there. The tea and sake were hot and flavorful. We ordered so many things off the menu that you couldn't see the table underneath. Each of us was thrilled with our meals. The beef with mushrooms was the clear winner of the night with crab rangoon and pork bbq dumplings following close behind. Our staff gave us the perfect amount of attention. I wish this restaurant was closer to where we live. I would be a regular visitor. An added plus was strolling through Chinatown afterward and visiting the shops and dessert stores.
Food was great.
If you're looking for great dim sum, this is the place. Their radish cake (萝卜糕) is the best I've had. Their shrimp dumpling and chicken feet taste very fresh, and their deli meats (roast pig, char siu, and roast duck) are so delicious! Their sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf has a bunch of fillings, and I loved their salt and paper shrimp! Service is pretty decent, we went for dinner so dim sum was order to eat but it came out fairly quick. I loved the look of the restaurant too, looks very upscale but prices are very decent.
The food here was delicious! We ordered so many different
The food here was delicious! We ordered so many different foods and they all tasted great to me! Service was not that friendly though. Never asked us if we needed anything. We literally had to ask for everything or went up and grab things ourselves.
Stopped by here with some friends for dim sum on a Saturday
Stopped by here with some friends for dim sum on a Saturday morning and we ordered the vegetable crepe, shrimp crepes, shrimp dumplings, siu mai, steamed bbq pork buns, deep fried pork dumpling, deep fried shrimp roll. They don't have carts pushed around so you order on the tablet which is nice since there's pics if you are unsure of what to order! Overall I thought the food was good but after eating at Ming Hin I was in such a food coma it was bad. I felt super sluggish so I'm not sure if it was from the oil in the food? Decent spot to try if you're in Chinatown! Plenty of seating since there's an upstairs and downstairs.
Best dim sum in town.
It's crowded always and loud. Not the best place if you're looking for ambiance. But the food is worth it and consistent.
Great Chicago Chinatown Dim Sum Lunch!
My husband, my parents and I all went to MinHin a couple of weekends ago and had a delicious meal! The ordering process was pretty cool with an iPad for the entrées and a paper for dim sum (with photos and descriptions). We definitely ordered WAYY too much but we couldn't resist! My favorite was the dim sum dish that had bbq pork in the pastry (can't remember the exact name). The whole table loved the shrimp rolls (on dim sum menu) the most!! Although, everything was pretty spot on! Service was attentive - always filling up our water glasses for us and removing empty plates to clear the table. It definitely felt like a true China town meal and ambience! Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for dim sum in Chicago's China town! Or just in Chicago in general!
Yummy dim sum in Chinatown.
Saw a tik tok of this place so wanted to try it out. Got seated right away and there were a good amount of people there. The food was all yummy, but I was sad that they didn't have my favorite pan fried noodles even though it was on the menu. I also did think they were going to have the carts but they didn't. Our waitress was nice and attentive. The food came out so quickly. Overall, good experience and good food.
Top notch
Randomly came across this restaurant when just arrived in Chicago.. ordered a few things off the menu that I was not familiar with as I’m from the uk. Well I can tell you I throughly enjoyed the food it was delicious.
Avoid. Poor Service and Sub Par Food
I would avoid this restaurant. There are better options in Chinatown. This service here is very poor and non-attentive. We aren't sure if we even had a server while we were there. The ordering process is very confusing and it's almost all on your own. The food is poor and not fresh.
Decent place
The food was good at the staff was kind. I’m Asian and the food was Chinese and not American Chinese. Pretty good place for a Chinese food.
Huge portions, great food
A worker at our hotel recommended this as a good restaurant in Chinatown and they were right. The food was very good. It tasted and looked great. And the portion size, oh my, it was huge. Two plates fed three men and we still had leftovers. Ordering on iPads that you hand to the wait staff made the process easy as you could see info about the food easy. Service was fast. Prices are reasonable, especially for the portion sizes. Definitely would recommend if you are in Chinatown.
Great Dim Sum in the Heart of Chinatown
Great dim sum, thanks reviewers for steering us here! We stopped for lunch on a day trip into the city and as reviewers have noted, seating and service is rapid on a weekday and we readily found street parking within two blocks. The staff is gracious and welcoming. On weekdays you order entrees from a tablet and dim sum from a printed sheet but dim sum items will arrive to your table by cart.
Make a meal of Dim Sum - you won't be disappointed!
We visited the MingHin restaurant on Ohio street (Streeterville). HIGHLY recommend. We made dinner out of dim sum with a side of pork belly. The service was fantastic and the food even better. The atmosphere is quite and lovely.
Delicious dinner in Chinatown
Four friends attending a conference nearby went to this restaurant in Chinatown for a fantastic meal. Everything we ordered was delicious. We had four main courses and a few dim sum to choose from. The fried rice dishes were excellent. The service was very friendly.
Chinese Food in Chicago
Very large portions, everything delicious. Acceptable price, good quality. I recommend it. If you are passing through Chicago and want to eat Chinese food this is a good place.
Awesome dim sum spot
The dim sum was outstanding! Very quick service. They sat us quickly and brought out our food quickly and hot. The bean sauce and hot chili oil at the table was icing on the cake
Exceptional Meal
Wonderful dim sum. Deep fried shrimp rolls and pork buns were especially exceptional. Main dishes were also very good, and condiments including chili sauce were provided without having to request them. The one less than bright spot was the soups, which lacked flavor - astral difference from the rest of the meal.
Restaurant to discover
The food is excellent and varied. The portions are generous. The restaurant is clean and very busy. And it gives you the opportunity to discover Chicago's Chinatown.
